The Electrolyte Mistake That’s Quietly Draining Your Energy Every Day | Dr. Catherine Julia Mort
6 Aug 2026 · 43 min
Dr. Catherine Julia Mort explains how stress, poor water, and processed foods deplete your magnesium, sodium, and potassium, causing fatigue and anxiety. She recommends a simple fix: mineralised sea salt and potassium in water, adjusted to taste, plus lifestyle changes like sunlight and sleep. Commercial electrolyte drinks fail because they're loaded with sugar and artificial ingredients.

When we're talking about electrolytes, we're talking about 3 key electrolytes. I have people track their potassium rather than their calories. For me, that's way more important. The electrolyte drinks that are being pushed, it will be full of stuff that has no business being in your body, and you will pay a premium for that mix. But it doesn't have to be our experience.
Welcome back to Everyday Ancestral, the show where we explore what modern life has stripped away from our families, and how to bring it back in a practical way. Today, I am joined by Dr. Catherine Julia Mort, also known as CJ. She's a mineral balancing practitioner, founder of Grassroots Healing, creator of Aquarius Academy, and a tutor of the Root Cause Protocol Institute. Dr. Mort works with mineral balance, electrolytes, and the idea that the body can begin to restore itself when we stop blaming it and start supporting it. CJ, welcome to Everyday Ancestral.
Thank you.
Many people, so many people feel exhausted, inflamed, anxious, or foggy. And they assume, well, maybe this is just part of getting older. But from your lens, is it aging or is it modern life failing us?
That's an amazing question to start off with. It's a big one. It's definitely not, it's inevitable if we don't take care of ourselves, but it doesn't have to be our experience. Absolutely not. Those of you that have me speak before will hear about us participating in the Hunger Games of planet Earth. Planet Earth is a spicy place to live, especially right now, and it completely depletes our mineral balance due to all the stresses that we face. And that's important because as we release stress hormones, you know, that big black bear that's continually chasing us on planet Earth, uh, we Get minerally dysregulated. Sodium, potassium, magnesium are the hard hitters. That will make us feel anxious, tired and wired. The whole population is in fight or flight mode, right? Everybody is in fight or flight. Go, go, go, go. That manifests itself in all the usual suspects of waking up at 3 AM, not being able to get to sleep, waking up feeling groggy and horrible. Mid-afternoon dips, mid-morning dips, all the yucky stuff that we experience. We tend to experience that more as we get older, but that's not because we're older. It's because our mineral platform foundation becomes less and less each year that we are alive because we burn through it and we don't repeat it. So yes, it is to do with aging because we're here longer. But it certainly doesn't have to be something that we have to put up with.
Oh, I love that answer. It gives me hope. When you look at modern, you know, everyday life, I think of like inflation, you know, how we have to just keep working to maintain our lifestyles, the processed food, the poor sleep, as you mentioned, the artificial light, the screens we're all on, soil depletion, just indoor living in general lifestyles, sedative lifestyles. Which of the pieces do you think are doing the most damage?
I say it's everything. It's everything all at once. Every facet of modern life is geared up to bring depletion, disharmony, and dis-ease in the body. Literally everything. The air that we breathe, the water that we drink, the food that we eat, the soil that it's grown in, The fabric our beds are made out of. Okay, we're breathing in all those off-gassed chemicals. Sunscreens. We're constantly being bombarded in every angle. Technology is amazing. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to be doing this, right? So it's amazing. And it allows me to work from home and have a, you know, global reach. But being stuck in front of a computer the whole day creates stagnation. It affects our eyes, our brains, social interactions. I honestly don't think you can pick one thing. If you go back even 20 years, 50 years, 100 years, the way that people used to live is completely alien to the way that we live now, or we are alien compared to the way that they used to live. It's just seeped. It's seeped like a toxic oil into every single— part of our lives. There's just no getting away from it.
It's hard. I find it so challenging because I feel like, you know, we're of the age where we were sold what technology was going to provide, you know, that it was going to make life easier, less stressful. I feel it's done the exact opposite, that it's completely overwhelmed life, even to the point where we're exposed to so many more opinions. than we would've ever been exposed to, uh, any more opinions than any of our parents or their parents were ever exposed to. And I wonder, even around health, do you think that the, the noise around what to do and, and, or what not to do around your health, do you think that's actually helping or do you think it's hindering our ability to get healthy?
Oh my God. I think hindering. You've gotta take the good bits of everything because I wouldn't know what I know now if we didn't have the internet and I didn't have access to all I have access to. But if you are a sick person, if you're chronically ill, you become extremely desperate to get well. It's completely natural, and I've walked that path myself.
Yeah.
And with all the rabbit holes out there, they capitalize on your desperation. That's what I would say. So, you're just constantly looking for the next thing, the next magic pill. And what I've come to realize is that utilizing good old Mother Nature, keeping things as simple as possible, actually going back to basics, going back to how our amazing, wise ancestors used to do it. is really all you need. Honest to God, that's really all you need. And people will hate me saying this, but all the newfangled testing technologies for genetic testing, all of these new things that are out there now, they just add layers of complexity. If you're ill, you don't have money. Okay? You can't work. You don't have money to be plowing into all these different things. And that's what drives me to do what I do is to share really basic, simple stuff with people to help them decipher what's needed and what's not. So yeah, it's a bombardment in every way leading to huge confusion.
That's such an interesting perspective that maybe in a sense medically we've gone too far. I want to dive into that, but before we do, maybe you could just share. So you're a mineral balancing practitioner, how are you looking at someone's health differently than maybe, let's say, a doctor would?
Oh, in every single way. So mainstream medicine, of course, has a place, right? So if we're in need of emergency medicine, where are we going to go? We're going to go to the emergency room. We're going to, we're going to want the, the top surgeon to help us. When it comes to chronic health conditions, mainstream medicine is not set up To help and support people in that way. I don't know what it's like in the US, but in the UK, I think we have a 3 to 5 minute window when we speak to our GPs, and you're only allowed to speak about one health challenge in one appointment. Who's got one? Okay. Usually we have a cluster of these bad boys and they only allow you to speak for one, and you may have waited for that appointment for a couple of months. So it doesn't bring about that sense of safety and that sense of being heard by somebody. You know, you need them to help you, and they oftentimes just, they don't have it in their capacity to be able to help you in that way. If you think of what mainstream medicine has become, it's become a pharmaceutical match to the symptom. Okay, so that's what these appointments are for. Tell me what's wrong, I'll look in the book. I'll go through all the medications and I'll prescribe you one, and off you go on your merry way. That's not a holistic approach. That's not listening to the person. That's not understanding spiritually, energetically, lifestyle, everything about the person. Who are they? What are they going through? How is that then manifested in their body as physical symptoms? I call myself a mineral detective. Okay. So I want to know everything about the person, how they become who they've become. So we can unpack that and then restore balance for them. Can a GP really do that in 3 to 5 minutes? No, it's impossible. They're not set up like that.
When we talk about mineral depletion, what are some symptoms that many of the people participating in this talk might identify in their own lives that are congruent with mineral depletion?
I'm going to say everything, James, which is not helpful. It's everything. But like the hard hitters are fatigue, tired all the time, heart palpitations, anxiety, Low mood, libido. A lot of people have histamine issues. Okay. Histamine needs a copper-dependent enzyme to break it down. So if we haven't got the minerals in the right place, it can't do that. Do you have enough stress resilience to be able to deal with your current life? Do you get overwhelmed easily? Do you have panic attacks? All the things. Think of anything and it will always come down to a foundation of, of good mineral balance or not. But they are the typical things that I see on repeat with people and what I experienced myself. Anything adrenal gland associated. So as we go through the day, our lives, we're depleting our adrenal glands. I'm sure everyone will have heard of adrenal fatigue.
And that's Electrolytes.
Okay, we burn through the electrolytes and need to restore them to, to feel calm and balanced in our body. Good mineral balance feels like health, feels like thriving, feels like I can cope, feels like a feeling of settled in your own body. You'll know. I'm sure everyone listening to this will think, yep, I'm ticking all of those boxes.
So as a chef of 20-plus years, I've always been about taste, but it was becoming a father that made really start to think about function because I want my kids to thrive and I want to be around long enough to witness it. And it was when my daughter became ill, my wife and I, we struggled to get the right nutrients into her. It was a true wake-up call. That experience is why Pluck was created. So Pluck is a superfood seasoning made with 100% grass-fed beef organ meats blended with organic spices and herbs. The beautiful thing is it doesn't taste like organ meats. It just tastes like the seasoning you're already using. But better, because when you add it, you're adding these bioavailable nutrients that your body can actually use. If you can salt it, you can pluck it. Learn more at eatpluck.com and save 15% off your first order using code EA15. You mentioned adrenal fatigue, and, and really, that's your— your adrenals support that fight or flight, right? So when we are adrenals are fatigued, in a sense, your, your body, it's almost like your tank is empty, right? That you really can't, you can't regulate as well. As you mentioned, you're always fatigued. You mentioned electrolytes. So that's definitely a trending tool right now, right? Electrolyte companies are everywhere. What exactly makes up an electrolyte?
So when we're talking about electrolytes, we're talking about 3 key electrolytes. So we're talking about magnesium, we're talking about sodium, and we're talking about potassium primarily. So these are what are used up when we're under stress. So when we're under whatever stress your body perceives as a threat, which is everything, magnesium leaves the building. Okay, so it's called the magnesium burn rate, which is why The movement towards just supplement magnesium, especially around perimenopause and menopausal women. It's, it's quite the thing now to take magnesium because everyone's so depleted in it. Sodium and potassium are also very, very key, and they all work together. So that's one thing that's really important to know. They all need to be in balance. They all help each other. And if you take magnesium, it can affect and disrupt further sodium and potassium. So when I hear practitioners talking about magnesium and huge amounts of magnesium, um, without supporting the adrenals with sodium and potassium, people really hit a wall. You can become more fatigued, you can become more anxious, and you can have heart pounding, heart palpitations, that kind of thing. So you can feel good initially, the magnesium's doing its job. And then all of a sudden you'll hit a wall, and then people think, ah, you know, this electrolyte thing is not working for me. Sodium and potassium, very, very important. The other major disruptors are— people are not going to like this either— vitamin D synthetic. I'm not talking about vitamin D in food or from the sun, but synthetic vitamin D supplements. They cause renal potassium wasting, which is potassium through the kidneys. Every man and his dog is taking vitamin D. When I look at hair tests, I always see super low potassium levels. I also always see super low sodium levels as well. If you put magnesium in that mix, that's not going to bode well for that person. The electrolyte drinks that are being pushed by all the—
Everybody.
Everybody, all the cool marketing, They don't just put electrolytes in these drinks, okay? So, they have to make something that sounds a bit cool, that they can market, that maybe has a cool colour or tastes nice. Sweet is what I mean by that, because that's what people tend to like. It will be full of stuff that has no business being in your body. So, what you want Is something super basic, and you want a source of potassium, and you want a good salt. We're not talking about table salt. We're talking about a sea salt like Maldon or Celtic salt, um, Himalayan salt, whatever salt you can get your hands on that's mineralised, right? It hasn't been processed. And a good clean Source of potassium. My preferred choice is potassium chloride powder, and you can find it with really minimal ingredients. Literally everything needs— that does need to have a stabilizer, but one can have one. These electrolyte drinks will have, yes, a source of potassium and sodium, but it will also have sugar. It will have synthetic sweeteners like aspartame. And all the other stuff that they like to put in it. They'll have food colourings. It will have inverted glucose syrup. Okay. Poison to the body. It will sometimes have creatine in it and whatever else they deem cool and funky, right? That they can market their product that's different to somebody else's. And you will pay a premium for that mix.
Okay.
You're going to pay a premium for that mix when you can just make it at home and just buy a big bag of salt and a big bag of potassium chloride and put a pinch of each in your drinking water and go about your merry business. So you don't need to fork out a lot of money on these things. It's really very basic.
So in terms of the ratios of the potassium and the sodium, is it just equal amounts?
Well, typically it would be twice as much potassium as sodium. You can actually— they're called adrenal cocktails, so you can actually Google or whatever search engine you prefer adrenal cocktails and you'll get loads of different recipes. They are guides. And what I have come to realize is that everybody has their own individual requirement for electrolytes. So nobody knows your body more than you. So, I would experiment. Put a pinch of salt in, a pinch of potassium. How does it taste? Next one, do I need more salt? Do I need more potassium? So, for me, I use my taste buds as the measure of how much salt that my body needs in any particular day. If it tastes too salty, it's too much. If it doesn't taste salty enough, I just add some more. And that is my girl math. Okay. That's, that's what I do. And I'll just adjust the potassium on how I'm feeling that day. The rule of thumb is if you're more stressed, if you're doing more exercise, if you were sweating more, if you're in a hot climate, you're going to need more electrolytes to support the body. That's the rule of thumb.
Because I remember, um, When I was at the conference that we met at, the, the Root Cause Protocol conference, someone had shared with me the original adrenal cocktail involves orange juice, like just squeezed orange juice, tartar, cream of tartar, and then I think a little salt, right? Is the cream of tartar the potassium or where are they getting the potassium? It is.
It is. So the, an original adrenal cocktail mix, I think that recipe is so popular because it's palatable. What is the orange juice giving? It's giving taste.
Why?
Because it's got sugar in it. Okay, even though it's a fresh juice, if you're taking 2 or 3 of those a day, then you're going to be having 2 or 3 servings of fresh-squeezed orange juice a day. You don't want bulk juice, you don't want it treated, you want it straight from the orange. It's a lot of sugar. A lot of people can't handle sugar, they've got insulin resistance. Okay, the majority of the Population, regardless of your age. The orange juice does provide potassium as well. The cream of tartar is the cheapest way probably of getting potassium. Um, it's used in baking. It does have additives in it more, more often than not. And in my experience, it causes gut issues. So it causes sensitization. So you can use it quite fine for maybe a month or two, and then all of a sudden it'll start giving you upset stomachs. So I, I don't tend to use cream of tartar, but the principle is the same.
Okay.
It's potassium, it's sodium. Orange juice is in there for the whole food C. So vitamin C, which we haven't touched on, we've just touched on the electrolytes. And that's also a component of nourishing the adrenals. So you want any whole food C, camu camu powder, Innate Response do a really good one. So that's got everything then that will nourish your adrenals, uh, and keep you going.
Now, how do you know how often to do it though? So I'm— because I'm assuming guaranteed once a day, right? As long as you're— it's, to your point, it's tasting good and your body's saying, you know, a resounding yes when you do it. But should people be doing it more often than once a day?
Yeah, for sure. Let's think about how much potassium, for example, should we be getting every day as a recommended allowance? And this is a government allowance, so take that as you will, but it's about 5 grams, which is 5,000 milligrams. Okay. We should be getting that from food. Are we getting 5,000 milligrams of potassium through our diet? That would equate to roughly 8 cups of cooked Vegetables a day. I don't know about you, James, but I'm not eating that, and I don't know anyone else that's eating that. So we're not having our RDA from food. I have people track their potassium rather than their calories. Okay. For me, that's way more important. How much potassium are you getting? So they're never getting enough. So we want to make sure we're Getting as close to that through food— sweet potatoes, yams, asparagus, all the high potassium veg. So we want to make sure we're getting that. The purpose of the adrenal cocktails is to bolster that, but also to support our adrenals in their times of greatest need. What I'd like you to think about is when do we have breaks? Typically at work? Mid-morning, mid-afternoon. That's when we have our slumps. That's when our adrenal glands are feeling pretty tired. We've had bursts of energy throughout the day. We've likely had caffeine to start the day, and we've had a big slump. So that's what I would recommend as a starting point. Mid-morning, mid-afternoon. See how you feel. For someone like me, who's running around all day long, I should know better. I support my body with, you know, up to 3 or 4 adrenal cocktails a day. So that's what feels good for me. Again, it comes down to, this is a guide. Get in tune with your body. Get in tune with what it needs, what feels good to you. You don't need someone else telling you what you should be doing when it comes to electrolytes. Feel your way through it, and it's going to be different every day. Start with the 2 and then you can build up. These things are pretty mind-blowing. In all the things that I've ever tried to support my own health, the adrenal cocktails have had the most profound instant effect on my well-being and stress resilience. I think everybody should get on board with electrolytes.
I have a gift for you. It's called the Freedom Meets Guide, and it's all about reclaiming your health, eating the most nutrient dense traditional foods, bone broth, organ meats, raw milk, and more. See, these are the foods that built strong and resilient people for generations, and this guide will help bring them back into your life. Whether you're just starting out or you're deep into ancestral lifestyle, this is the roadmap, and all 24 pages of it are available for download for free via the link in the description. Look, start feeding your body what really needs. You deserve it. Well, and I also love that you— what you're advocating is simplicity. You're advocating cost-effectiveness. And then you're also saying like, you don't need all the flavor additives because, you know, I use one that does have the flavors. And I notice that when I do 1 or 2 a day, water doesn't taste good. And so I find that it's messing with my palate. And that's, that's, you know, a side effect I don't want. I don't want to be craving flavored drinks. I don't want to be drinking water and feeling like it's, it's gross, right?
It's not good for us. And why have they done that? So that you will want more of them. Okay, so that you put in more money their way. They, they know, they know this. There's a whole science behind what gets people addicted to certain foods and tastes. You'll know that. And just as an aside, I would never use— I never just have plain water. So, I always put a little bit of salt in my water. You always want to have a mineralized water, for sure. The body will absorb it better. This whole thing around you must drink 2 liters or 3 liters of water a day, people are doing that and are walking around absolutely dehydrated because that water is just flowing straight through their body. There's not enough minerals. It's not being absorbed by the body. Just add your minerals.
Yeah. A lot of people don't even realize when you get reverse osmosis water, for example, that it basically has no minerals. And I remember back in the day, I mean, this is in the early 2000s, we were getting water from a water store in Culver City, California. And even the store wasn't educating you on that. All they were focusing on was, oh, it's reverse osmosis. It's really clean. And only later, after I think I was using that water for a few years, did I realize, oh wait, no, it also has no minerals in it. Like that process removes the minerals too. And only then did I start to learn, oh, I have to remineralize it. So this education is priceless for anyone that's using reverse osmosis in their house, anyone that's potentially even getting filtered water that is not clearly mineralized.
Some of the most depleted people I've ever worked with And I can see on the hair test, the hair mineral tests, they are the people who are drinking reverse osmosis water. Okay. It's called hungry water. So what we mean by that is you're, you're drinking demineralized water. That's what reverse osmosis water is. It's demineralized. It takes everything out. So the water is essentially dead. When you then drink that, it wants to attach to minerals in its natural form. So it literally demineralizes you. Okay. So it's having the opposite effect than what you think. So always add your minerals back to reverse osmosis water. Speak to the manufacturers because they, some of them do have a remineralization protocol. Okay. That you can use or is embedded. Yeah. But don't be caught out by that. It's, um, because you think you're doing right. Like, like everything, you know, we think we're doing right.
We think we're doing right. And yeah, and somehow it's hurting us. Are there people who should be cautious with electrolytes?
Yes. So I'm going to say again, everyone. And shall I tell you why? Because of the Hunger Games situation we are embarking on and experiencing, our bodies can become really sensitive to everything, even if we need it. It's the sickest joke. Okay. So the body needs these things, but guess what? We've had a lifetime without it. So as soon as we start introducing minerals into the body, the body can freak out a little bit. Not everyone, but there are a subset of people who have really low tolerances to new things coming into the body, even if it's as natural as minerals. So I would urge everyone, and this is a part of the Root Cause Protocol, okay? Our message is to start low and slow and just feel way through it. If you're personality type A like me, and probably most people who are watching this will be, which is why they're watching this, we have a tendency to go full speed ahead. We want to get well, we want to do everything, we want to do it all right now, and we can off-throw the balance the other way. We don't want to do that. So it's a low and slow approach. Anyone that's got anything going on with their kidneys, for instance, anyone that's under the care of a medical physician for whatever is going on with you, of course, we're not medical doctors. We would urge you to ask, go back and ask, is this all right for me to implement in my, you know, in my regime? So just because something is natural. Doesn't mean we shouldn't be cautious when we're adding it in because guess what? Mother Nature is the most powerful thing on the whole planet.
No, agreed on that for sure. You know, it is challenging because of course legally, you know, we always have to say, oh, we're, we're, we're not doctors, you know, consult somebody. But the reality is when people do go to consult their doctor, most of the doctors don't understand the more natural route or the nutritional route. They, they haven't been trained in it. So they either respond with that honesty Or they say, or they respond with the fear of being questioned, you know? And so they try to take that route of like, oh, well, who are you listening to? What's their degree? What's their specialty? And how do they know more than me? You know, that kind of thing. So it becomes an ego play. So all to say, it kind of leaves people with, well, who do we trust? So—
Themselves. I am the biggest advocate for taking control Back. Being your own doctor as much as you can. Do your research without getting sucked into huge rabbit holes. Use your gut instinct. We were given one for a reason. And if it utilises Mother Nature, you can't go far wrong. You don't— you want to avoid anything synthetic, anything in large, huge amounts. Anything that promises overnight results, anything that costs an absolute bomb, and just advocate for yourself. So you can— of course I'm going to say go and speak to your GP, but you've got to also appreciate what's going to come back. So you've just got to expect that they aren't going to advocate for these things. But, you know, you've got— you've just got to feel your way through it.
Well, and if they do advocate for it, then you know you have a good GP, right? You know you have someone who's curious and open and is looking beyond just what they've been taught. So, what would it look like to support the minerals through food, rhythm? We talked about salt, hydration, rest, sunlight, or nature before immediately reaching for more products.
So, everybody can do this. And it's free. So I would urge everybody to become obsessed with their nervous system, become so obsessed that their life depends on it, because it does. Simple as that. So we're talking about the rhythms and cycles of nature. So it's about circadian rhythm support. It's about getting enough sleep at night, a good 7 or 8 hours. What is your sleep hygiene like? Are you in a cool, dark room? Can you be off your screens a good hour before bed? Can you read? Do you have good ventilation in that room? Can you watch the sunset? Can you watch the sunrise? Can you be in tune with nature that way? The natural light actually feeds the body. So, we are energetic frequency beings, period. So, we need to work with Mother Nature. She's there for us. She's on our side. She's willing us to look at the sunset and the sunrise. Okay? So, that's free, and we can do that. Take your kids out. Get your kids out looking at it. Make it a thing. Can you eat Protein first thing in the morning. Can you not have your caffeinated, amazing, large beverage first thing in the morning? Can you hold out an hour and have protein first thing? That will stop your cortisol rising. It signals to your body that you're safe. That sets the stage for the whole rest of the day in terms of how your sugar levels are regulated, how hungry you get, how steady your energy's gonna be. Can you do that? Like, they are really simple things. Everybody knows about eating clean, right? So can you get your veggies? Can you get your good meat, your fish? Who doesn't love butter? Get the butter on everything. Okay, we love grass-fed organic butter. It's all about nourishment, not starvation. What are you digesting in terms of information that's coming in? Not just what you're putting into your mouth, what are you putting into your mind? Switch the bloody news off, okay? Just saturate yourself with beautiful things visually, internally, eat well. It really is as simple as that. And then you will be able to understand what your triggers are. In terms of what's spiking your stress, because you're already calm and you're already in your body. And then you can start to understand what your triggers are, and then you can remove them as well. So we just want a peaceful, lovely existence, James. It, it, and if you can add electrolytes on top of that, oh, you'd be winning.
I love this. So what is one small thing that they could do today To begin supporting themselves differently?
Speak to yourselves with love. Accept the situation that you are in and make peace with it. Maybe you haven't done any of those things. I bloody didn't. Okay, whatever you've done, I've done 10, 20 times worse. So just know that your body is not broken at all. That you can restore balance and it's within your reach and your power to do so. Just take it all back in. Think about it, meditate on it, and get an early night tonight. Just get an early night and think about what your action plan is going to be tomorrow. What simple steps can you put in, in terms of food, electrolytes, nervous system support? Go for a walk in nature. Go and hug a tree. It's the best. Go and hug a tree.
Well, I love, I love to, and I want to reiterate what we started with, which was that adrenal cocktail where you're just simply adding some good sea salt and some potassium. And if you don't have any yet, let's say you have to order some, as you mentioned, you can use cream of tartar. It's—
Or you can use coconut water.
Oh, there you go. Coconut water, right? That has potassium too, right? That's great. And I think just that right away, uh, is a really easy first lift. And to your point, if someone's already feeling fatigued, that's a clear sign that your adrenals are fatigued and that getting that potassium, getting that sodium is going to be an immediate lift. Just immediate.
An immediate lift. It really is. And also, I don't want to demonize magnesium because I'm a big lover of magnesium. And once you've been on your electrolytes, and once you've got a good routine with that, you add some magnesium in, you know, again, clean brands, not too much, don't go crazy, you know, 300 milligrams, 400 milligrams to start and see how you feel on that. But I would always add the potassium and sodium first before I would go into the magnesium.
Love it. So I always ask this final question, if you could wave a wand, And bring back one ancestral practice into modern homes, what would it be and why?
Respect and love our elders. Honestly, community wisdom, living with our elders. I would abolish nursing homes because we wouldn't need them because everyone would be healthy and we'd all be living as family. That would be a dream for me. Yeah.
I love that. I haven't heard someone say, talk specifically about You know, honoring and taking care of our elders. I always think about the Korean culture because I spent a little bit of time in Korea, and their culture is so steeped in respecting your elders that you could be walking down the street as a family, and if your child does something that's deemed rude, if an elder sees it who's not even related to you, they could come over and discipline your child, whether it's hit them or. Verbally, whatever they want, and the parents would defer. Now, I know this is an extreme thing, but that is how much they revere the elderly, that they always have the power in the situation, which is so opposite from how we live right now.
We have been so taken away, ripped from our roots in the Western world, because you say that as if it's something, wow, it's unbelievable, isn't it? But so many cultures, Outside of the West do. I know a lot of African countries, that's the norm. Okay, that's the norm. And they know it takes a village to raise a child. And what do we know as young parents? What the elders know is far superior than us. It's widespread. It's just not available to us and what we see. Can you imagine all the knowledge that we've lost simply because we don't live with our older relatives that we're not having those conversations over the dinner table. It's crazy to me.
Even to add on to that concept is that when it's not, when you're not around it, when you're not, when you're not being exposed to that kind of elderly advice or perspective, you remove the training of even looking back at history and trying to learn from it. And which we're also seeing, we're seeing really a lot of repetition of mistakes that we've already had, whether it's, you know, antisemitism or whether it's just stupid things that we've done in a life, in not just our lifetime, but in history. We're seeing them get repeated now because no one wants to honor that this has happened before and maybe we should learn from that.
Yeah. And you could arguably say that's by design, James. You know, we're constantly being reset so that we don't evolve and move forward as a consciousness. You know, we're just stuck. We're just stuck. But, you know, I think that there's a movement and I think there's so many people that do respect their elders truly. Yeah, I'd love to see that come back.
Well, I would hope that if you're listening to Everyday Ancestral, you are thinking about respecting your elders because it's all about looking to the past and taking from the past and seeing what we can, how we can make sure it comes with us in our present. So I can't thank you enough, Síte, Jay, for joining me today. How can people work with you? How can they learn more about you?
So I'm a tutor at the Root Cause Protocol. So we have our next intake next February, February 2027. So you can join the institute and I'm a tutor there. I also do have my own academy. It's called the Aquarius Academy and James will put the details down below. And I run HTMA, which is hair mineral analysis and blood work masterclass. for practitioners and the layperson. And you can also work with me in my clinic if you want to get your minerals tested and optimize your minerals to live your best life. It would be a pleasure.
And do they have to be in person to do that? So would they have to fly to the UK?
Well, I mean, you can come and say hi. That would be lovely. But no, you don't need to come to the UK. So I work via Zoom globally. Most of my clients are in the US actually. Funny enough. Yeah.
