In this segment of J. Anthony Allen's free Ableton Live 12 music production class, the instructor demonstrates the fundamental steps for recording audio in Ableton Live. He explains how to arm a track for recording, the meaning of the gray meter that indicates signal without playback, and how to start and stop recording using the main record button. He shows how to play back the recorded clip and clarifies that by default only one track records at a time, but multiple tracks can be recorded simultaneously by command‑click (or alt‑click on PC). The demo includes recording a spoken phrase (“Hooray bananas…”) and playing it back, establishing a simple workflow before moving on to MIDI recording in later lessons.
