From South London Streets to Professional Fighter | Jake Bostwick | The Jared Goetz Show

So you've done all different types of fighting, right? You've done regular boxing, bare knuckle, MMA style.

So I started in MMA when I was, I was actually 16. My first 5 fights were actually underage.

Wow.

Kind of had to choose if I wanted to keep fighting. I say after the first fight and I knocked him out, I was like, yo, I'm gonna keep fighting. I grew up in South London, mate, fighting all the time, you know. Southeast London in the '90s, 2000s, like a lot of problems, a lot of stuff as it is now.

How many MMA fights have you had?

30.

At what moment did you realize that you're going to be a professional fighter?

Dropped out of school. I didn't have the best grades, you know. I was supposed to go to the army. I had like a leaving date and everything. My dad was like, "Fuck it, if you're gonna go to the army, you're gonna get a fight in." My dad wanted to have a fight, so my dad lost. And then after that, he gets on the mic and he's like, "Yeah, I beat the father, now I'm gonna fight the son." And he like called me out after beating my pops.

I was like, "Fuck this dude." So then I fought him and Hey, what's up guys? Welcome to the show. In this episode, I'm interviewing Jake Brutal Bostwick, professional fighter for 20 years. He's fought in the MMA, bare knuckle boxing, and a whole bunch of martial arts. Really crazy stories we've gotten into about how do you get into a cage and fight another human being with no gloves on? How do you stay calm? And we go deep on other topics like discipline and how to be the best version of yourself. This one's a fun one, it's an entertaining one, and it's filled with tons of great knowledge and lessons. I hope you enjoy. Well, we were getting into a lot of fun stuff as we're getting the cameras ready. I, uh, I was just saying, like, I was just training with weapons tactically, and, uh, it is like, honestly, when you first start handling a gun in a holster, it's kind of, kind of scary. Yeah. Like, how did you get into tactical gun training?

So obviously I like— I'm from London, we don't have guns. Yeah. You know, so when I first come to America, I remember, um, this one chick went on this little date and I see a firearm and she was like, you can look at it. I'm looking at it like, whoa, she had it. Yeah, she had a gun. Yeah, yeah. I was like, yo, this is crazy. And, um, yeah, I thought, oh, guns are cool. Obviously, like, guns are cool, um, they're dangerous obviously if you don't know how to handle the firearm. But, um, yeah, like you're saying, it's like when I— obviously it had been some time, I've been here for a few years, and then once I was a resident, I could then get a firearm. My first gun was like a, a.38 Special, like, revolver. Which I still have actually, is— that's my first ever firearm. So I had that and, um, yeah, I would carry that. It's different, that doesn't have a safety. Yeah, right, because it's just, it's just a go, but it's a really strong trigger, you know.

Right, gotcha.

And I wouldn't carry it so much because I didn't have a concealed permit.

Gotcha.

Um, and then obviously years have gone by, um, I then eventually did get my concealed permit and then they dropped the obviously laws with you don't need a concealed to carry and then you can open carry. Um, so yeah, whatever, long story short.

Do the police in London even have guns?

Um, so the regular police that you see in the street and so forth, no, they, they don't have firearms. But then you have like a higher-end police, like a— not so much SWAT, but like a SWAT, they know have MP5s, you know, for certain situations and whatnot. But just regular police in the street, no. You'll have 5 police officers arguing with like a dude, a big dude as well, and it'll be— honestly, the police in the UK are Shocking. Absolutely shocking. They're tiny little fraggles, mate. They're like little people.

I mean, it's pretty—

I mean, if they're pulling out a baton, you know, and they just try and they're hitting people with batons and people like pushing the police like, fuck off, don't touch me, don't touch me, and they can't do nothing.

If there was a guy like you that's a trained fighter, oh yeah, and the police were trying— like, how many cops can you probably—

oh bro, if I was throwing punches as well, bro, they're gonna be— I'm gonna win that battle, you know. Like, literally you have to jump on me and hold me, hold me, and then try and cuff me, you know. It's like, that'd be stupid.

It's probably a crazy to America and just being like, oh shit, it's crazy.

Yeah. And obviously, you know, I open carry as well sometimes. I have my shirt and that tucked in, obviously my belt and my firearm, my knife, my extra magazine, you know. And I, and I walk the streets like that.

Yeah.

And it's— to go from London, like, you get jail time for having a firearm, you get extra, extra jail time for ammunition, you know, and stuff like that. Yeah, it's like a big thing. You could literally rat on somebody, or even if you know somebody might have a gun or not, you— if I called the police and said like whistleblowing and was like, yo, someone's got a firearm in that place, SWAT will go and kick that door down.

Are you kidding me?

No, they will. Yeah, it's like, it's just so frowned upon. Like, no knives. You can't have a little pocket knife on you and nothing. But the fun—

it's not any safer in London than it is in Miami, for example.

I, I— it's safer in Miami with guns. Yeah. Than it is over there. That knife crime is like— you get— there's 100% must be more stabbings than there are shootings.

Yeah.

Like stabbings over in the UK compared to even shootings here, you know.

Yeah.

And it's like there's so many firearms that are out on the street now that even if you try to remove firearms, there's going to be so many out there, and it's only going to be the criminals that will probably end up having it.

Yeah, it's almost impossible to go back.

It's never going to happen. That's why now, obviously, yeah, you can open carry now and you don't need a concealed, you know, as long as you haven't got a criminal history, you can get a firearm.

Yeah.

You know, I'm still only a resident, so it still takes me like 4 days to pick up a firearm or whatever. 3, 4 days.

About 3, 4 days.

If I was a citizen you can go in, purchase, and leave, right? They still do a criminal check and so forth. But I got my concealed permit because it's still better to have more credentials in carrying a firearm. Yeah, just, it's, you know, if I got into a situation, altercation with somebody who didn't, and it was like a foggy situation, I end up shooting somebody, it's, it's going to be better for me on paper and to the court and everything with just the fact that I even have a concealed. I also have my D license and my G license, which I was obviously kind of explaining to you earlier. So your D license, so you can work like bodyguards security and stuff, and your G license is doing the same thing with your firearm. So I do like executive protection and stuff like that now with my firearm.

But have you been doing that for a while now?

Um, I've been training tactically for the last few months. Yeah, you know, um, but I pick things up super quick, especially because I'm coming from an athletic background, you know. I've been fighting for 20 years, understand the body mechanics and throwing punches and then drawing, you know, headbutting and all the close combat stuff, hitting to the groin.

Yeah.

It's really, really awesome stuff, and I feel that everybody should be doing that, and especially if people are carrying firearms, right? I know people that carry guns and be like, yeah, I've never shot it. And I'm like, and you just carry that in your trousers and you don't even know how to maneuver it, use it, take it apart like nothing. Yeah, you know.

So, so you've done all different types of fighting, right? You've done regular boxing, bare knuckle, MMA style.

So I started in MMA when I was, um, I was actually 16. It's This is a fun story. Yeah, so, um, I was supposed to fight an amateur fight. Um, this was when I was back at school. So in, in the UK, back when I was younger, you finished school at 16 years old and then you can choose to go to college and university and whatever from there. But you finished school at 16 and, um, a fight popped up and I was in the middle of doing my GCSEs, like my, my final exams to finish school, and this fight opportunity popped up and then, um, I was going to get paid $100 was going to fight this guy. He was, uh, 24 years old, 6'4". You know, I'm only 5'8", you know. He's 6'4", he was 24, coming off of a pro win, um, and it got offered to me. Whatever, long story short, I was like, yeah, okay. But obviously you have to be 18 legally to fight as a professional. Yeah. So, you know, they didn't check IDs and things like that. I was fighting in a, like, a nightclub. It was a pro, like, sanctioned fight, obviously. So on the day— like, I'm born in '89, so obviously I went to go sign a contract and obviously I put '87. Yeah.

You know, and, and that was it.

I mean, My first 5 fights were actually underage.

Wow.

Yeah, technically, yeah. So I was, I was literally a kid, man.

How did that opportunity— like, were you—

I was doing some training. I was doing some training. Yeah, I grew up in South London, mate. I'm fighting all the time, you know.

Yeah.

And like, I knocked a lot of people out by that time. Knocked men out. Like, I'd fight some football pitches. Like, whatever you name it, Southeast London back in like, you know, '90s, in the '90s, 2000s, like a lot of problems, a lot of stuff. As even as it is now. But, you know, a lot of fighting where I grew up, and I could fight, I could handle myself, you know. I was, you know, I was playing rugby. I've always done contact sports, you know. I started in taekwondo and judo when I was younger and so forth. Um, and then, yeah, the fight opportunity popped up because I was doing some training with an owner of a company called Blitz, and the fella's name's Jason, and his parents owned this company. It was a massive company back in the day. I don't know if it still is now. I think it's still going, but it's called Blitz fight sport or something, and it was all equipment— MMA gloves, shin pads, shorts, t-shirts, whatever. So I was training with the owner, um, on a Wednesday in a church, every Wednesday. That was just one session. I was doing weird stuff, not like the best, not nothing to the ability of what we're learning nowadays. Yeah, but this is obviously back in the day, um, and it was in a church. Like, there was no like gyms really. It was like just lay mats out and we just trained in there. Um, anyway, so he got a phone call from this own— from the owner of, um, uh, Cage Rage, saying about me fighting or if he had anyone to fight. Or anyone that can fight. He said, I've got this one guy, blah blah blah. So then my name got thrown into the mix. I don't know if people— I don't know if, um, Dave and I actually knew I was younger or not. Yeah, but it never really come up. I didn't say nothing, just kept it quiet and just changed my date of birth on the paperwork. And then, yeah, that was it. And then that night I went in and I scored a 9-second KO.

Wow.

Yeah, like, he come out, he threw a couple punches, I threw one low kick, he threw a jab, he threw a jab, and I parried it. Hit him with right hand, folded like a deck chair, like under his legs. Like, it was disgusting.

Oh my God.

Like, cold oxygen out.

First fight.

First fight. 9 seconds.

6 foot 4, this guy.

6 foot 4. Yeah. And, and he had had a pro fight, so he had done all the walkout, he'd understood it. And he was 24. He was a man.

Yeah.

You know, I was literally a boy, bro.

It's insane.

It's pretty cool. You know, I sit and think about it now, I'm like, fuck. And I look at 16-year-olds now and I'm like, I was, I was fighting men at your age.

That's— yeah.

And like, people nowadays pussies. Yeah, you know, like so soft, just scrolling, bro. That— I know, like, obviously what I must have had, like a Nintendo 64, and like this— we're talking about back in the day, bro, you know, and like PS1 and whatever, you know, playing out on the street, you know. And then some bullies would try some shit, and then, you know, end up having a scrap with a bunch of kids. And I was bullied a little bit, you know, and then I had to like learn and train and like, you know, get into it a bit.

Were you fit and strong?

Yeah, I've always been a stocky kind of kid. Like, you look at pictures of me even when I was like 16, you're like, I had the physique of like a young man, you know what I mean? Like, I did. I looked pretty strong. Again, I was playing rugby, right? And I was playing loose head prop as well. I was playing like front row, like in the, in the, in the rucks and the mauls and stuff, you know?

So like, in, in rugby?

In rugby.

So you're taking all the hits?

So yeah, so you see when they have, I think it's 8 players, 3, 4, 5 3, 4, 5, no, 6. But I think it's like 6 on 6, and then they all hold each other and they go down, and then they, they, they ram, and then obviously they gotta obviously scoot and get the ball. Yeah, I was at the front row of that. So it's like normally like your biggest, strongest players. Yeah, so I was doing that for another 14, 15, 16.

Yeah, yeah.

And then when I started fighting, my second pro fight, I snapped my thumb, complete break in half, and I was in a cast like this for a while. Said I couldn't play rugby, and I kind of had to choose if I wanted to keep fighting or do rugby. I say, after the first fight and I knocked him out, I was like, yo, I'm gonna keep fighting. This is—

this is your first fight. You're, you're going to this fight, you're 16 years old, you're about to face—

and I had, I had a science exam the following day. This was on this— I remember it was on a Sunday. I remember it was on a Sunday in a nightclub. I think it was Caesar's Nightclub in Streatham. Streatham is a, it's a dive, it's a proper shit hole.

Yeah.

And, uh, like, yeah, old school nightclub. And I remember, yeah, and I had to go to bed and wake up and I had the science exam. It's either Monday or Tuesday or something. So I was literally at school. I was, I was a kid.

How did it feel going to that first fight?

No, it's weird because I didn't really know what to expect. Yeah, you know, I'd gone to like judo tournaments, um, taekwondo— did I do, uh, taekwondo tournaments? No, I didn't do no taekwondo tournament. It's just done judo tournaments and rugby, rugby, uh, rugby days and rugby events and stuff.

Stuff, you know.

So I never really— I didn't know what to expect. Yeah, I didn't. But I'm there backstage, like, jumping rope, warming up. I even remember that night I wrapped my hands with like regular hand wraps that you'd find in the gym with the Velcro. Yeah, I wrapped my hands with that. Like, I didn't know any different. I had no professional wrapping your hands, you know how they wrap it with tape and gauze.

Okay.

No, none of that. I use like regular hand wraps. Yeah, like boxing wraps. Yeah, boxing wraps. Yeah, you can't do that, you know. I didn't know.

Yeah.

Were you nervous You know, and then especially when I hear the music and obviously it's dark, it's a nightclub, you know, and then I see the cage in the middle. It was only a small cage.

Was this guy like, like, I'm gonna fucking kill you?

Like, like, no, it was respectful, you know, like it was, it was a nice fella. Um, but yeah, it was a big dude. I remember because I hadn't— I'd seen him, but it wasn't like where we have— we had a weigh-in, but we didn't have like a face-off or like a press conference or anything like that where they're building up like a— no, it wasn't, wasn't like that. So I hadn't really seen on— I didn't know who he was. Yeah, but I didn't know how tall he was.

Right, and you didn't have like Instagram back then?

Nothing, nothing, bro, nothing.

And you didn't know how tall he was either?

No. Wow. No. And that was my debut. He was 6'4". It might be 6'5". And I'm talking like, oh, cold on the floor snoring. Like emergency come in, oxygen on him, gets up. Yeah, I don't think he competed again after that. And that was the day of the start of my of my career.

That sounds like a very pivotal moment in life for you.

Yeah, it was.

I mean, to be able to show up to something that you're uncertain about and then before it starts feel the nerves, you don't know how it's going to go, I feel like you're very vulnerable to influence on the outcome from something like that.

That's what I mean. I didn't— I really, like, I'd had a bunch— don't get me wrong, as a kid I'd had a lot of street fights.

Yeah.

So I've been in scraps, I've been hit, I've hit people, I'd knocked people out, knocked grown men out. Yeah, so I knew I could like fight and I was about it. Yeah, but I'd never really withstood or withdrawed— withdrawed, I don't know, whatever. I'd never really taken that much damage ever to that point. Yeah, not even really taken that much damage up until 2021 was the most damage I received in a fight that really was like, yo, in 2021. Yeah, that's when I fought Julian Lane. That was my second bare knuckle fight. My face was a mess.

Oh yeah, so you didn't get into bare knuckle until recently? Like, relatively?

No, no, I had my debut for bare knuckle for BKFC, um, I think it was BKFC 14 or 15. It was like still fresh. I remember seeing it, and at that point I transitioned for a couple years into boxing because I had my last MMA fight back in 2018. Okay. And then I was like, yeah, I'm done with MMA, like, I want to just box.

How many MMA fights did you have?

Uh, 30.

30 total.

Yeah, uh, 29 or 30. It's 29 or 30, something like that. Yeah, you know, so yeah. And my MMA career is wild, you know. Again, you gotta think, I was a kid, you know, and like I had good guidance. Like my dad was like really, I'd say, my structure during like my younger days, especially with the fighting. Even now he still is, but you know, we don't really know, you know. I never had a real solid team and, and so forth, and like real training, real diet, real this, real that. Like it wasn't— it was just like, you know, train a little bit, do this, right? Go have a fight. Yeah, you know, and that's how it was. But my first 3 fights I won, I had 2 KOs and a TKO. And then, and then I went on a span.

I had, um, so actually you broke your thumb? You—

I snapped my thumb on my second fight. Yeah, yeah.

And you, and you won that?

I won it. I knocked him out 19 seconds.

Was that how you snapped your thumb on the knockout punch?

So as I was throwing the punches, it kind of— the, he must have like deflected or done something, and I caught his hand or done something, caught his hand and it was like it snapped. It was a complete break, like complete snap down.

You feel it in the moment?

Yeah, it was really sore. I remember going bang, but I was in the middle, in the gist of fighting, so I was just like, wow, wow. And I remember just unloading on him, and then he hit the ground. I was punch, punch, punch on the ground. That was it. I won, jumped up on the cage celebrating, going crazy.

But had you not done that in that moment, would you have won the fight? Because you're— now your thumb's fucked up.

My thumb snapped, but you think you can get going, you know, if you can keep fighting. Yeah, you know.

Yeah, you think you would have won the fight if you had gotten out of that kind of—

who knows? Yeah, only, only—

so first 3 matches, 2 KOs and a TKO was a—

I think it was the first or second round. I think it was a first round TKO, about 4 minutes. Yeah, or something. It's quite funny as well, another funny story. So the third person I did fight was a fella called Marvin Arnold, and my debut— was it my debut? Or no, it was my second fight. No, this, uh, my second fight, when I fought that night, I was supposed to go to the army. I was supposed to go to the military. I had like a leaving date and everything. And, um, my dad was like, fuck it, if you're gonna go to the army, he was like, look, I'm gonna get a fight in. My dad wanted to have a fight. Yeah, he doesn't really train, doesn't do anything, no, lifts weights and whatever, same thing, just a street fighter, but it was like wanting to have a go. So I fought that night, scored a KO, and then my dad fought, and he fought this fella. My dad's 5'5", yeah, and he fought someone, this Marvin dude, and he was 6'4". Wow, another tall lanky dude. Anyway, my dad gassed out. I think the guy ended up like ground and pounding him out or whatever, so my dad lost.

Oh yeah.

And then after that, he gets on the mic and he's like, yeah, I beat the father, now I'm gonna beat— I wanna fight the son. And he like called me out after beating my pups. I was like, fuck this dude. And then I didn't go to the military because I wanted to fight him. So I was like, so I said no to the army. I was like, I had my sending date and I had to go. I didn't have to, but that was my day I was supposed to leave.

Wow.

So I didn't because the fight was like, I don't know, weeks after or a month after. So then I fought him and then, and then I beat the shit out of him.

Oh good.

So that was it. I was like, I had to get that one back, you know, dude.

And then yeah, so if he didn't call you out, you'd be a whole different life path.

Possibly military, possibly. Yeah.

What was the idea behind going to the military? You just didn't—

it was just like, I didn't really know really where I was at, what I wanted to do.

Yeah.

You know, I dropped out of school, I didn't have the best grades, you know. Um, I was a good student, don't get me wrong, but I just, I didn't really, you know, do I do work, you know, whatever. I was just working. I'd work for my dad, do some stuff with him. My dad's a tiler, he does tile, like floor and like bathrooms, kitchens, you know. I'd go help my dad at work, you know, make a bit of money. I was just making cash here, making a bit of money here and there. Yeah, but I was like, you know, I might just go to the army or something. I think that'd be— I think that'd be good for me, you know. Yeah, so that was the original.

And what— at what moment did you realize that you're going to be a professional fighter?

Do you know what, I really feel it was after the first fight when I, when I stopped— when I had the KO, I was like, damn, this should be my life. Yeah, because I think this is fun. Yeah, I love fighting to get paid for it. Happy days. I remember my first fight as well, got $100.

That's what you got.

And, and you could head stomp a grounded opponent. So if I knocked you down and you're within like a meter, a yard or whatever away from the cage, the referee would shout open guard and the person standing can stamp on their head.

Are you serious?

Yeah, yeah.

And that's no longer—

this is when I was a kid, bro.

Yeah, yeah. But they changed the rules.

They changed the rules for that. Yeah, that came out about that. They stopped doing that about 3 or 4, maybe 5 fights after when I started. Wow. So you could still— I think you could still headstomp a grounded opponent, um, my second, third, and maybe fourth fight. And then I think they removed it.

Yeah. And then you were, you were fighting in the UK for a while after that before you came?

Yeah, no, I fought in the UK, bro. I fought in the UK. My debut was 2006. I must have, damn, um, 20, 20-something fights, maybe 30. No, maybe more. 30, 30, 30, around 30, 35 fights I had in the UK.

Yeah.

So, you know, so I built a name, reputation in, in the UK, you know. Um, and then at the same time, for the same company, I was doing— I end up doing some K-1 fights. So it's like kickboxing.

Yeah.

With 10-ounce gloves, like as you would see. And then I'd also done kickboxing fights with MMA gloves, just like 4 ounces.

Gotcha.

So I'd stand up, just little gloves, you know.

And when did you, when did you get the brutal nickname.

I got the Brutal nickname after my second fight.

After your second fight?

After my second fight. So I fought 2006, and if it was towards the end of the year, and then it went to 2007 when I fought a fella called Nick Porter. Yeah, actually it's quite funny as well. Nick Porter, me and him used to work security. We used to be bouncers together. Yeah. So I met him a bunch of times at the club, and obviously things kick off, me and him are like buddied up, and we're like fighting groups and that. Yeah, it's crazy.

Then you fought each other?

But we fought each other prior to that, and then we become friends, you know.

Gotcha, gotcha.

Yeah. Um, but yeah, 2007, I think the, uh, the, the owner of, of, uh, Cage Rage, his name's Dave O'Donnell, he was like, mate, you are brutal, you're like Brutal Boswick.

You're like—

and I was like, brutal, I kind of like that, bro. I never— you know, people call me Jake the Snake and all this other stuff, you know. But then, yeah, then, and then that was it. I've got, you know, Brutal is everything. It's now I've got a— I've got an LLC under Brutal Industry. I got— yeah, I got Brutal tattooed on, on my heel, my foot, like fruit was just everything now.

So talk to me about like when there's a big fight coming up, something that, you know, is important, and maybe it's an opponent that you're like, oh fuck, that guy's good. Yeah, like how do you get yourself prepared mentally?

It depends on the opponent. For example, um, I remember when I was fighting a fella called, um, Simeon Thorinsson. He just got kicked from the UFC at that time. I think he was like 17-3, 17 wins, 3 losses. And he just got kicked from the UFC. I think he just— I think that was one of his loss. He lost and then he got kicked. And I fought him at Cage Warriors back where McGregor had the two belts and stuff. So I thought— I fought for Cage Warriors a few times as well. And, um, he's like a 6'2" dude, 17 wins, 17 submissions. And I'm not a submissionist. Like, yeah, I've, I've got one rear naked choke in 30 MMA fights. Yeah, like, I don't do submissions. Like, ground and pound, dropping elbows. I just want to damage, you know. I just want to strike, you know, sprawl and roll, just, you know. And I remember when I was prepping for him, I'd have all the best jiu-jitsu dudes and whatever put me in weird positions. And I was— for me, it was just like defending, defending, defending, whatever it may be. Um, and again, just a lot of studying, you know, when it comes to certain fighters. You've got to do a lot of studying. And sometimes you don't really need to do so much studying. You kind of have the basics of how people are. But when it comes to the MMA aspects, I feel that you've got to do a little bit more research and digging because there's so— you can be so well-rounded when it comes to wrestling, striking, you know, obviously your boxing, the boxing fundamentals, elbows, knees, kicks, the wrestling stuff, then the jiu-jitsu stuff on the floor, being on top, being on base, you know, being on the bottom. Um, so it was a little bit more studying stuff for that, and I couldn't— I didn't want to lose to him. I was telling everyone, was telling me, are you going to get to the UFC after this? And like, I really thought he was going to be my pinnacle. Yeah, thing, you know. Anyway, I went 3 rounds with him. I won by decision against him. But it's one of my toughest fights. And actually, at that time, I was dealing with some other street stuff outside of that, which was— that's something else. At the same time, my grandma, um, was sick and she was in, in a coma. And, um, yeah, she didn't come out of that. She ended up passing, bless her soul. Um, but she— as I was dealing with that, I was in the hospital, I was cutting weight, you know. Um, it was, it was a, it was a— I had a lot going on mentally, mentally, physically, where it was just like I had a lot going on in my head, you know. So this fight, it was like the biggest, biggest name I'd fought, you know, the most technical, the most skilled, um, and someone who's got really good credentials now. He just like from the UFC, then he's fighting me, you know. Um, but yeah, same thing, just like submissions, like he was just trying to take me down, bro. Like you watch that fight, I think I stuffed about 20-something takedowns. Yeah, you know, it was, it was crazy. But yeah, just a lot of preparation when you get a difficult fight like that.

So you have, you know, a lot of shit going on in life. Your grandma's in a coma. You got this big fight coming up. How do you stay out of your own head? How do you keep the momentum going?

Just staying busy and just trying to keep a positive mindset, you know?

Yeah.

Um, and not trying to be overwhelmed. And I get overwhelmed quite easy, honestly. Like, if I can't find a parking spot in Miami, I'm getting stressed. I just want to go home.

I probably have a dog tag.

Oh, bro, like, it's so annoying, you know? Um, and I feel like it got worse with my age, honestly. Yeah. When I was younger, I was a little bit more, nah, don't give a shit, you know?

Yeah.

But, um, but yeah, it's just, you know, just, just, just again, it's just you in your head, bro. You know, it really is. It's just, you know, stand disciplined, stand on, stand on track doing what you should be doing, know what you should be doing, you know.

Um, know what you should be doing I think is an important thing to highlight though, because people want to be more disciplined, they want to get more fit, they want to make more money, whatever it may be, but they don't really have a structured plan. So it's really easy to divert from—

yeah, I get what you mean. I feel like with a lot of things, it's— I feel like especially when it comes to discipline, it's common sense, you know? It really is. You know when you're messing up.

Yeah.

And people don't want to own it, or you want to own it. Like if you're drinking a bit too much, or you're smoking a bit too much weed, or someone's doing it and you're just like, I shouldn't be doing that.

Yeah.

But you're still choosing to do it. That's on you, bro. Yeah. And that's you in your own head. Yeah. You're either agreeing or disagreeing with you saying yes or no to doing the right thing or the wrong thing. And yeah, it really is that simple. But people, I feel, are always trying to find an easy way, you know. They don't necessarily want to do the uncomfortable stuff. Yeah, you know, I think Mike Tyson's— one of his best things is being, um, doing something that you don't want to do and do it like you love it. And that was— and a big thing for me was like was roadwork, running. I hate running. Even now I still hate running, whatever. But I'd force myself to run. Yeah, I'd do the run, I'd come back, and I'd be so proud of myself. Yeah, doing something I didn't want to do, but know that it is good for me and that's what I should be doing.

Proud of yourself. That, that's where, that's where confidence comes from, right? It's like you're— there's a part of you that knows I should go run. There's another part of you that's like, ah, we could do it later, there's other things we could do.

Procrastinate, procrastinate, procrastinate.

Oh, let me scroll on my phone a little bit longer. That's the thing that everyone, you to now.

Yep.

But you do it, and now it's like that, that little voice in your head, that subconscious is like, fuck yeah, yeah, 100%.

And the more you do that— and, and again, talking about this is a prime example of like, I'm not religious myself, you know, everyone each their own, what they believe in and have their faith and stuff. Um, I feel the power of God is something that is inside yourself. Yeah, I feel that it's in you, straight up. I fucking 100% truly believe that. Yeah, I really, really do. I don't necessarily think it's somebody else up looking down. I think it's you looking in your head.

Yeah.

And the person that you're chatting to is the one either supporting or not supporting. Yeah, supporting your bad habits or good habits, you know. Um, and there was a, um, a point when I fought a fella called, um, um, Isaac Doolittle, and it was— we got fight of the night. It was a great, great battle, me and this guy. And, um, I remember being so disciplined and tied in for that fight, I literally felt like I was floating. I felt it for about a month, 2 months. I literally walked and felt like I was God. Yeah, not like walking up chest out, but I just felt so like—

you're like—

so yeah, aligned as, as hell. Like saying no to alcohol, saying no to this, saying yes to doing the road work, saying yes. I was in impeccable shape, like shredded up, so disciplined. And that gave me a sense of confidence and everything. And I feel like— and then I was— I felt so radiant. Yeah, you know, like that energy, man. I believe more in energy, you know, that's, that's my biggest thing, more spirituality or like more of an energy transfer. You can speak to somebody for 5 minutes and be like, he's not good people. Yeah, you know what I mean? And you can speak to somebody and be like, oh, you're cool, like, yeah, I want to get to know you, you know, right? And, and I'm good at gauging and judging more like that, and that's more where I go as a, uh, um as a faith or as a thing, you know.

Yeah, and I think words are just limited to describe, you know, things that are more complex than words are able to describe. So, but I hear what you're saying, 100%. Yeah, I think being a professional athlete kind of gives you the framework. Hey, I have a fight coming up, I know what I need to do.

Yeah, but you know, it gives you the structure, it gives you, it gives you structure, it gives you a deadline, right? And I love that because when I haven't got a deadline, even now I'm a little bigger than I want to be, you know. I'm still training, doing my thing, but I could be training harder.

Yeah.

And I could be doing more, you know.

Like everyday people that aren't professional athletes, for example, yeah, I want to do this, but it doesn't really matter. Um, I think it matters, but for them there's no deadline, there's nothing coming up, and there's no—

what are you doing it for?

But I, like, I do, uh, you know, 75 Hard?

Yep.

I just actually started again yesterday. I've done it probably like 5 times, but for me it's a structure.

Yeah.

It's like you got to get 2 workouts in. Yeah. You got to read 10 pages of a book. You got to progress picture, you know, you got to drink your water, no cheat meals, no alcohol. And the thing is, if you fail anything, you start back from day one.

Yeah.

And it's like, it's amazing how, you know, you're, you're reading 10 pages a day, but it's amazing how by the end of it you've read at least 750 pages. Like, you learn so much. And there's so many nights where I'm like, I should read, but I'm not going to.

Yeah, yeah.

Like, imagine if you kept all the promises to yourself throughout life. One, how much more of God can shine through you, or have whatever word you want to use.

100%.

How much more energy?

That's the primary example, is that right there, is having a structure and sticking to it.

Yeah.

No matter you're tired, you're this, you're that. Andrew Tate always bangs on about it. You don't want to do it? Who cares? Go do it.

Yeah.

Like, just do it.

Yeah.

Like, why?

Yeah.

And, and, but, you know, he says things that's good and he says things that's like, all right, mate, well, yeah, you know, for sure. But at the same time, he come— I, and I know Tate, I've trained with him, I know him from back in the day, you know, we used to train. He was on a reality TV show together, training. Oh, were you? Yeah, yeah. Um, but, um, yeah, no, yeah, it's crazy. Um, but it's like, it speaks sense, and he does. If you actually understand what point he's getting to you, yeah, and you dedicate yourself, yeah, and you tell yourself, like, I'm gonna do this, yeah, and then you don't go, uh, you know what, as soon as you go, ah, you already got— you're already slacking. You're trying to boost yourself, yeah, and be proud of the things that you should be doing and doing it, yeah, and actually sticking to it. Bro, and then the more you do it, habits become personality. Yeah, period. Yeah, and that's the biggest phrase that I really feel sticks around, like habits do become personality.

It's like your habits and your, you know, perception of life is who you are.

So it's like, 100%.

I mean, I got kind of soft when I moved to— we moved to Florida like 2 years ago. We were in Texas for 3 years.

Okay, okay.

And I had, um, you know, I had a gym in my house in Texas. I had my trainer 3 days a week. I was I was like really hitting it and we moved to Florida and I don't have a gym in my house, but I have a, there's a brand new gym literally in my neighborhood, less than a mile away. I can go to, but like, but my point I'm trying to make is like our minds are pretty crafty and clever to like remain comfortable. So in like my head it was like, all right, um, I gotta find a trainer. And then I was like, I found a trainer. I was like, well, I can't like take my shirt off and blast music in this gym. So I gotta wait until I have another solution. And it was like, It was like a year. I wasn't not working out, but I wasn't being true to myself. Years of a year of little excuses, getting by and like, you know, and that affects every area of your life.

100%.

It affects if you have a business meeting, are you showing up as that person that's like rooting for yourself because you have the confidence? Are you showing up as someone, I don't really know if I'm worthy of this deal because I haven't done these things for myself.

Facts. Yeah. And I feel that everyone goes through that. But a lot of people don't express and talk about it, or they don't really look for the help or look for answers, you know. Yeah, you know, because I feel like even like my platform, I post me getting knocked down, I post me getting knocked out, you know, me losing a fight or whatever, um, but the amount of people that see me get up and still keep doing my thing, still trying to shine and whatever, you know, it inspires a lot of people. Yeah, I've had people tell me, oh man, I've thought about committing suicide. I come across your page, I see this. I just got into a boxing gym, man. You fucking changed my life. And it's— I love being able to— and I'm doing nothing other than just posting what I'm doing in my life, and I'm very honest and organic. Yeah, I'm raw as fuck. Like, I say things as it is and I do as I please. I tell someone, you don't want to hear something, I'll be honest with you, but you know what I mean?

Yeah.

Whereas a lot of people lie, they, you know, beat around the bush and, and whatever. Um, but it's nice being able to inspire people to just try and be real and be rude to yourself.

Yeah.

You know, and that's the most important thing.

100%.

100%.

So, are— is your professional fighting career still active right now?

Yeah, I fought recently, just in July. Oh, recently?

Okay.

Yeah, I fought in July.

Uh, do you have anything coming up, like, at your—

um, I have something I want to talk about, but it's not necessarily been announced. Um, but I've got something coming up. Um, do you know, um, Alex Terrible? I've posted some stuff with him. All your stuff, all the Rawr and stuff. So, um, I'm gonna be doing something with him.

Gotcha.

Not fighting him, but me and him are gonna be doing something together. Um, cool. But yeah, that's something you're training for and like, um, yeah, there's something I've got coming up. Yeah, next between 4 and 6 months. Let's just say I can't— again, I can't spill the beans because it's not necessarily been announced, but, um, but there's hopefully something in the pipework. Yeah, so, um, pipeline even. Um, but yeah, there should be a soon announcement for that, hopefully around February.

Do you find that when you have something coming up and it's, you know, 2 months away and it's a big deal, you have an easier time remaining disciplined and staying true to yourself?

I feel like if you have a little bit more time, like for example, if someone said, 'Yeah, you want to fight in 3 weeks?' I'm like, you know, I'm a little bit out of shape and whatever. I've got, you know, I really got to pull my finger out. Yeah, because I kind of have a rough date, one thing what I know, it's like, okay, like I know what time I got to play with and how long a fight camp can be. I know, like, you know, start cutting down on this, cutting down on that, start eating better here and getting better sleep and so forth. And I feel you got— you can get yourself into fight camp a little bit more when you've got a little bit more preparation.

Yeah.

Especially if you've been out of camp, you know. I fought in July, so, you know, since then I've been training and ticking over, but I'm not like fight ready right now, you know what I mean?

Yeah. Um, but when—

yeah, when you've got a little bit more time to play with, you know, even 8 to 10, 12 weeks. Yeah. It's, it's great, you know. You can let— you can because then you get into a routine, right? Like, you know, I've got a deadline, I know what I want my weight to be. I don't want to have a crazy weight cut because I've had bad weight cuts, you know, right? Terrible weight cuts in my fight career, mate. Bad, bad. And it's like, I never want to have them experiences again. Yeah, bad. What, like 20 pounds in a day, you know, and things like that? Yeah, shocking.

Like, how do you, how do you do that?

That's just sweat, bro. I was telling the guys earlier, I'm a sweat monster. Yeah, like, and even then it's like, again, It's trial and error. Again, I've done weight cuts. Again, I've done— I've had over 50 professional fights, so I've had weight cuts since like the second, third fight onwards. I kind of then was always like cutting a little bit or whatever, um, you know, doing weight cuts in the sauna with a sauna suit, without a sauna suit, um, you know, then learning what creams and lotions like Sweet Sweat and like Albelene. Albelene is like a mimic of Like Sweet Sweat is another version of Albolene. It does the same kind of thing.

What is that?

It's, um, something that you put on your skin and it helps you perspire.

Oh really?

Yeah.

So that's how— that's like one way to try to—

it's one way. Yeah, people would have done Vaseline and baby oil and things like that, and it does— it's like clogs your pores, but it forces you to sweat. So I'll cover myself in Albolene, you put a sweatsuit on. I've done that running on a treadmill ever since I'd say Um, 2018. Yeah, 2018, 2019. I, I haven't— maybe not even before that, maybe 2017. I haven't done— I haven't worked out to cut weight. If I've got 5, 6 pounds, I'll get in the sauna, shadowbox a little bit, whatever. That's nothing.

That's, that's easy.

40 minutes. Yeah, yeah, peace, peace. But if I've got like 15 pounds, you know, 14 pounds you know, 18 pounds or whatever, you know, there's no, no exercise. It will be Alba lean, hot bath.

Wow.

Wrap up, stay there, just sweat. Wow. Get out and you get back in.

Are you drinking any water during that time? You're just dehydrating yourself as much as possible, pulling everything off. Oh my God, how shitty do you feel?

Oh, like shit. Oh, shocking. Yeah, really, really, really bad. And I know, and I've had bad weight cuts, and I know people that have had worse.

Yeah. You know, how far can you go before you die.

Like, mate, people have died cutting weight like that, doing like crazy, crazy cuts, you know. So it's quite scary. And I've missed weight before as well, quite by quite a lot back in the day, um, and it was the most embarrassing thing ever, really.

So you weigh in and you're like, oh, I knew I was heavy. Yeah.

And, uh, man, it was honestly a horrible time, a really, really horrible time.

Yeah.

And it's like, and from then again, it was a trial and error.

Yeah.

Never ever did I do that again, you know. And I only missed weight— I was, I was slacking a little bit in training, I was eating bullshit, I was hanging out with this bird, like the chick. And, um, yeah, I just wasn't really being so serious, you know.

Yeah.

Um, and then yeah, I ended up missing weight. And then yeah, it was just like, bro, it was so embarrassing. I had a year out after that, and then I came back and went on a tear and was like beating everyone.

Yeah, yeah.

Because I was like, that's never gonna happen again. I was like, nah, fucking— like, yeah, who's that? This ain't me. Oh, it's embarrassing as hell, mate, you know. Um, but again, trial and error. You learn by your mistakes and you either figure it out or you quit. You know, I'm not, I'm not a fucking quitter, mate. You know, I'm gonna keep doing my best to keep showing up, keep shining. You know, I've quit even in fights. I feel back in the day, uh, people were taught me punching me, punching me. I remember one time I tapped out to ground and pound, um, against a fella called John Phillips. We're talking years ago now, years, years ago. And, um, it was like full mount on my chest. I was up against the cage, like literally I stop. And he was like raining down punches, like he was smashing me. And, um, I remember— I think I remember tapping out. And I look back on that now and it's like, bro, what a pussy. Like, why would you do that? Like, at least get knocked out. Like, at least let him just do what he's got to do and then referee stop it or something.

Yeah.

And never, never again would I quit after that.

No, you know, you don't think it's really— I mean, what if you got like a severe concussion or something?

Referee can stop it. Why have I got to quit?

Yeah, true.

That's what I'm saying. It's like, I don't want to find a way out.

What was the thing that came over you that made you quit in that moment that you've learned to overcome?

I'd never really been in that situation. I never again endured that kind of situation. I was super uncomfortable, super overwhelmed, and it was like boom boom boom, and I couldn't get out. And I'm like, you know, taking shots. Whereas if I just took a few more and just covered up a little bit more, the referee would have just stopped it. It would have been a TKO stoppage, you know. But the fact that I know what I had done.

Yeah.

And was like, okay, okay, like, bro. Yeah, I'll never ever do that again.

Yeah, you know, but it makes you stronger because 100% done that, you wouldn't have learned that I'm never gonna do that again.

And when I compare that, for example, I don't even think I was bleeding. I might have had a few bruises and marks up, don't get me wrong. Maybe my nose was bloody. But what's crazy and what goes on in my head is like, obviously my whole fight career, again, I've had my debut in 2006, I've been doing this for 20 years. Um, when I fought Julian Lane, I always give him props, you know, because whatever it is, what it is, but he put airs on my chest, you know. I, I didn't show up that night, and I had a really, really long, long night. I was 2, 3, 2, 3 seconds behind everything. I was missing my punches. He was hitting me, hitting me. It was his 7th bare knuckle fight. He understood the game, you know. And if that was now, yeah, I would smash him. Yeah, period. Like, I believe I would, like, 100%. But it was my second bare-knuckle fight, didn't really know what to expect, mate. He was punch, punch, punch, punch, bruv. My face was a mess. I was bleeding so bad, like a mad cut, two up in my forehead. Yeah, like shocking. Like, he beat the shit out of my face. Like, he did. I was pressing him the whole fight. I didn't show it, I looked it, obviously. Yeah, but I was still in the fight the whole fight. He was on the back foot, I was on the front foot, but he was just like, bing, catching me and moving, catching me and moving, catching me and moving. I barely hit him in his head, you know. I hit him in his face a few times, in his body, whatever. But it was just like, it was my own fault. I fought with emotion and I just, I wasn't in it. I just changed, uh, gym. Like, I just, um, got rid of my manager. I changed, uh, my boxing coach wasn't working with me anymore. Like, I was training with, um, uh, my actually my ex-wife's brother, um, and he's super cool people, but his name's Damien. Damien was doing some stuff with me, like, you know, decent work, you know. So I was still getting my boxing in but I wasn't really prepared.

Yeah.

You know, and I went into that fight and, mate, it was a long one. But he knocked me down twice as well. He knocked me down, smiled, I got back up.

Yeah.

Hit me again, smiled, I get back up. I'm like, I'm good, I'm good, I'll get back up. And I'm smiling the whole fight. About inside, I was dying.

Yeah.

You know, but then after the fight, I sat and I was like I got a lot of respect after that because I did took a lot of damage, um, but it was like when I compare, uh, an MMA fight from back in the day that I quit, yeah, and I had something like that, and I'm proud of yourself. Oh brother, like I was like the man, bro. Yeah, and I took it on the chin. It is what it is. I lost that night and that's that.

What's going through your head when you're getting your ass kicked?

And you're, bro, honestly, it was like I don't know, it was just like, I was just so overwhelmed. Yeah, like it just was super overwhelming. You see when you're like, for example, you can't find a parking space, I'm like, you get frustrated, I'm like, you know what, whatever, but I just want to go home. Yeah, it was like I wanted to go home. Yeah, you're just like, I'm like in the middle of like a gladiator battle right now, blood leaking, pissing out of me, bro, like leaking a lot of blood. And, um, I'm like, damn, I'm battling. I'm like, you know, a few more rounds, just keep it going. And just like, it was just like, in my head was just like, don't quit. Yeah, you know, just stay in it, stay in it, just, just keep it going. Just, I just went to like autopilot and just kept trying. Yeah, kept trying, kept trying. And I said I was pressing, my cardio was good, everything was good, my legs, I wasn't— again, my footwork. And since then, like, I've changed my whole style, you know. Um, but it was just like, yeah, I just, I had to withdraw it and, and just keep going and just don't quit.

Yeah.

And that— and then I compare that now to when I see bare knuckle fights. I see you get people get hit with nothing and they are pussies. Yeah. And stay down and tell everyone they're a bare knuckle fighter, but you're a bitch and you don't lay it out. You don't go out on your shield. You're not a fucking warrior. Yeah. Personally. Yeah. You know, I look at— and it, it, it really pisses me off. Yeah. Because like I think the what I've sacrificed and gone through to get to the point where I'm at now.

Yeah.

And you've got these people like, yeah, I wanted to be a bare-knuckle fighter, and they go do it. You have no idea, mate, until you're actually getting smashed in the face with like a bare knuckle, mate. Yeah, it's different gravy.

How much harder is bare knuckle than—

oh, it's its own sport, bro.

Yeah.

And especially because I went— because I went from MMA to then boxing. I had like one or two box fights, just boxing in the gym.

Yeah.

To then taking off the gloves. Yeah, it's so different.

Completely different.

On such a demographic. Yeah, like, really is. The fact that you can clinch, you can dirty box, I can hold your head, I can uppercut you, throw some shots, you know.

Um, and you're probably so much quicker without the gloves.

Yeah. And like, just getting jabbed in the mouth, like, imagine, like, yeah, anyone even watching, like, yeah, you feel just that in, in your face, in your mouth, in your lips, like bang, hard jab in your mouth, bang. I remember my first, my debut, I got jabbed boom, and my lip was like, just open up. That's just a jab, bro. Wow.

What made you get into bare knuckle?

I'm from London, bro.

Yeah, most badass type of fighting I can get into.

It really is the rawest, most realest sport, and I'll tell you what, it's the most, uh, the biggest thrill I've ever had in the whole of my combat.

Yeah.

Um, like, career.

Bare knuckle's growing quite a bit, right?

Yeah, yeah, especially, you know, now Conor McGregor's part of it, and so yeah, Conor McGregor brought into the company, and like, he to like the press conferences and that.

He's not fighting though, is he?

Nah, he talks about it and stuff, but whether he will or not, I don't know.

So MMA versus bare knuckle. What's the, the, I mean, the punch, you know, you're getting hit with harder, you know, there's no gloves, but.

In what aspect are you saying?

How do you compare them as a fighter showing up to a match? You're going to an MMA match versus a bare knuckle match.

Well, you gotta think, you gotta think in MMA, you can punch, elbow, kick, knee. Wrestle. Yeah, grappling on the floor, submissions, chokes, arm bars, heel hooks, knee bars, whatever.

Yeah.

With bare knuckle, you have to stand in front of somebody.

Yeah.

And just throw hands.

Yeah.

And that's it.

Yeah.

You know, it's the most— it's like proper pikey gypsy shit, man. Yeah, it is real. Yeah. And like, I have so much respect for like gypsies back in London.

Yeah.

If someone's got problems or whatever and it's like that family, that family, like these two will fight. Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah, that's the thing. I've seen it. Oh yeah, it's a real thing. You can literally Google it right now, um, gypsies, gypsy fights in the UK. And that's how they resolve problems. That's how they resolve a problem. And now, either fisticuffs, beat the shit out of each other until they come to a mutual agreement, either one gets knocked out and it's done, or— and then they'll hit the floor and they're like— and someone will be there, split up and whatever, and it'll be just in the field. Yeah, you know, just like just two people fighting. And then they'll shake hands.

Wow.

Call it a day. And to me, that is the most respectful, proper, realist way to handle business.

Yeah.

Rather than stabbing and shooting and all this gangster shit, and then you and your mates, and then it's like 5 against 1. Like, what?

I mean, if you can get up and shake hands after— yeah, that's—

but I've had situations— I've had— again, I've had a lot of streets, uh, occasions, um, but I remember this one situation, um, it was me and my friend and, um, like, he could fight as well. He was about it. But there was like 14, 15 guys, um, that had a tool bag. I mean, I saw screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, um, crowbars, everything. And there was a lot of them. And I'll never forget, and I'm so proud of myself for this— this is way back when, um, actually at a place called, uh, Amadeus, and people used to call it Ama Dangerous. Yeah, because there was always problems there. Um, and I remember, long story short, got into an altercation out there and they all like wanted it. Yeah. And I'm standing there, just me, two of us, like 40, 50 of them, and they're all tooled up. Yeah. And we're standing there and I was like, whoa, whoa, fellas, fellas. I was like, listen, listen, like there's a lot of you, you know what I mean? It's like, give me one-on-one until I'm done. Like at least like give me, like give me the benefit of that, you know? Like give me a, give me a straightener. And they all went up running at me and then we— I ran for my life, brother. I went back, they were jumping on my car, smashing my windows on my car. They beat the shit out of my car, bro. And I was like, I ran back to the nightclub by security. But yeah, um, but that dude ended up, ended up, um, getting it, so it doesn't matter.

There you go, in the end it worked out.

It worked out.

I, I just want to kind of zoom in a little bit more on, you know, you're showing up to a bare knuckle fight, it's, it's intense, you're facing, you know, someone who's really good at what they do, you're gonna get hit, you know, hard punches, um, there's people watching, you've trained for this, like, what are you doing to remain calm?

Okay, again, so years of it. Yeah. And dealing with the nerves and anything. For me now, like, my last fight, bro, like, you can ask my coaches, anyone, and anyone that was back there would like, 'J, you seem so calm, so chill.' And all it was was like, like, the hard bit was done, was the weight cut. And my last fight as well, I actually had a 15-pound weight cut. It was, it was pretty tough, I ain't gonna lie. So I started out a massive weight cut. That way harder than the fight. Yeah, because you want to quit. You don't want to be doing that. You feel like shit. Like, bro, I was dragging ass. I'm like, to a point, I got a couple pounds. I'm like, I'm ready to just give him my money and just fight for free right now, you know? And my dad's like, don't be fucking stupid, get back in the sauna. What are you talking about? You know, so whatever. That to me is the hardest thing. But when you go to fight day, all you've got to understand is— and for me, I think about the aftermath. I think about the victory. I think about hanging out with my friends after, having a drink, having a laugh, you know, enjoying the rest of into the night and seeing more fights and so forth. So I think about what's going to happen after. I don't necessarily think about the battle itself. Gotcha.

Um, and when you're thinking about what happens after, are you thinking about what happens after a victory?

Yes, after a victory, you know, win or lose. Yeah, but at the same time, I'm like, yo, you're visualizing— yeah, I'm visualizing my hand being raised, whatever, we're on knocking mat. But what's weird is my last fight, um, I, I was adamant. I was like, I really want to catch him with the left hook. And I, I was, I was working with Kevin Gleason for the last 3 weeks of my fight camp, um, and I said to him, I was like, yo, I really want to work my left hook. You know, he's 6'2", he's super long, and I got her exploding, and I really want to catch him with left hook. I don't know why, but I haven't had a left hook knockout in, in a while. Yeah, I want to hit him with a left hook. So every combination, I think, was finished on left hook. So then when I was backstage warming up, doing my thing, I was chilling I wasn't too nervous because the hard work was done. And again, it comes with experience where the nerves can get better and you can handle them better. But I was like, I just felt so confident in my preparation and my training, my dedication, everything I put into the fight itself, into the, like, the whole training camp, that I was super confident anyway in my ability. Um, but then when I'm backstage again thinking about the aftermath, but then when I'm warming up and everything I'm just breathing, chilling, I'm having a laugh, I'm giggling. And again, I'll just— you gotta just do what you're doing in the gym.

Yeah.

And that's the biggest thing I could really put out to any new up-and-coming fighter is just like, what are you prepping in the gym and seeing and visualizing and your preparation? Just, just do that. Yeah, that's all it is. Don't make it anything more than what it is. Don't think about this and like all the negative, or what happens if he does this, or what happens if he does that. It is what it is. You gotta, you gotta roll with it when it happens, the same as I have. Like, and that's what it is, you gotta roll with the punches. Sometimes it might not go your way, you know.

Yeah.

Um, they might show up better and you might not, you know, because then you're in your head or whatnot. But again, I just think about the aftermath, do what he was doing in the gym, everything I was practicing. Um, and again, I'm a veteran technically. I've been doing this for so long.

Yeah.

So it's just like, you know, just, just gotta have a fight, bro.

Yeah.

And that's what it was. And, and in my head it's like, not a street fight, but I'm like Remembering myself from back in the day, I was like, just got to be that dude. Yeah, you know, just turn up and just let your hands go. Be calm, be collective, be patient, and don't be emotional. Do not get emotional, bro. Zero ego. Yeah, that's it. You're two professionals, and, and what's going to happen is going to happen. Yeah, but don't have an ego and do not get emotional about it, you know, because again, I've been emotional, and then you fight a hella different, right? So different when you're fighting with emotion, holding your breath you're squeezing so tight rather than just being like, right, just loose but explosive but calm with it. Just be loose, just be in a flow state, just flow state.

Yeah.

And my last fight, I literally threw 2 punches. One left hook, knocked him down. He gets up, same exact punch twice, TKO finish. That was it.

Visualize that one and made it happen.

It was crazy, you know. Um, and it was, yeah, it was really crazy how much I thought about it and then it actually happened.

Yeah.

And it was— and it's one of the things where people talk about manifestation. I feel like that was something I did kind of manifest.

Yeah.

And it's the first time I really manifested something specific and it actually happened in my whole career. Wow. Yeah, you could talk to Conor McGregor talking about it and manifest this and that, and then you'll go do it.

Yeah.

That was the first time I really kind of saw a left hook, and it's the only punch I threw, and it won the fight.

Made it happen.

It was fucking awesome.

What do you think about, um, Jake Paul.

I've had 4 fight camps with Jake.

Oh yeah?

Yeah. So, um, actually after my second fight, the face where I got bloodied up, um, so I, I helped Jake with— I sparred with Jake for Ben Askren, and then my first proper fight camp with him was with Tyrone Woodley.

What's a fight camp?

Just a fight camp is like when they're preparing for a fight and they need certain partners or certain traits, like I was a specific body. Ah, so for example, he was fighting Tyrone Woodley. Yeah, he's a short MMA fighter, can brawl. Yeah, same as myself. So they get people to mimic that. You're fighting someone 6 foot, you're gonna get 6-footers in, you know.

Gotcha.

So that's more— so they, they train very specific to their opponent.

Gotcha.

It's the smartest thing to do.

Yeah, it makes sense.

It's the most realistic, smartest thing to do.

Talk about visualizing, manifesting.

You're literally 100%. So I've done some rounds with him back when he fought Ben Askren. He actually broke my nose, ripped my gum off the first time I sparred him. Ripped my face off. I couldn't believe it. Yeah, like, he cracked.

He's good.

Yeah, no, he's decent. He is, you know, he's, he's still a little green. You see his fight, obviously, with, um, with, um, uh, Joshua just now. Yeah, you can see the difference in comparison, obviously, the size and weight and whatever, you know. Jake's still got a lot of learning to do, but he's not a fucking idiot, mate. Like, and he does crack hard, bro. He went from, you know, being a YouTuber, YouTuber content, this, that, and the other, you know, um, and people talk about YouTubers stuff all the time. It's like, yeah, he does that, but like, bro, he's got like a full gym. Yeah, he's got a full like trainers, all coaches. Yeah, and he works so honestly, he does work really hard. I give him props for that. He does really put the work in. Yeah, and you know, we've had great rounds, you know, rounds he'll get the better of me, rounds I'll be getting the better of him. I'll catch him with stuff, you know, he's He's rocked my shit in the gym, you know. He broke my ribs, he's broke my nose.

Damn.

Yeah.

And are you fighting all out in these?

Yeah. And I say to the coach, he's like, Jake, give it to him. I'm like, all right, say less. Yeah. I remember Logan Paul was there, and Logan actually spoke about it on one of— on his, uh, Impulsive podcast. He spoke about, um, when I was— when I was sparring with him.

Yeah.

And I remember catching Jake, boom, with a big left hook. And, um, and yeah, he just stayed in the fight. Yeah. He's not a pussy. Yeah. Like, he's a tough kid, and he got power. Yeah, he really has. He's got a good crack on him. So, um, so I helped him. So whatever, I worked with him a little bit with Ben Askren. That doesn't really count. But then I've done a full fight camp. I mean, I went to Puerto Rico, standing in a, like, a fighter house. Um, and then like when it was, when he was sparring, I was a sparring partner. When he was hitting the track, doing track work, obviously I was joining in, you know. It's a part of the fight camp.

Yeah.

So when we say fight camp, that's why I go join in to be help him prepare. Yeah, so I helped him with, um, Tyrone Woodley, the first, the first go around. Then I worked with him for Andre August, um, the dude he hit with an uppercut. And I remember he was drilling that uppercut, bro. He missed me with that in the gym a few times, bro. He threw that shit from South London, mate, and I remember brushing past me and I like, like span out and I was like, yo, I was like, bro, that would have knocked my head off. Like, what the fuck? Like, I said it to him, I was like, oh, that was crazy. And then, uh, and then after that I helped him with, um, um, uh, the Mike Perry fight.

Yeah.

And that was probably the most— not involved, but the most— like, Mike Perry fights in bare knuckle, you know, he's short like myself, very similar stature, moves similar. I'm more technical, I'm a way better boxer than Perry, don't get me wrong, but it gave them the best look.

Yeah.

For them to prepare, you know, with the height and everything, because then you're training to hit here rather than up here, you know. Yeah. And, um, and then, yeah, um, yeah, helped him with that one. And, uh, yeah, that was a great fight camp. I had last spar with him when he was over in, um, I can't remember where he fought. Was it in Orlando? I can't remember where that fight was, but wherever I was there, I was like, obviously I was in the crowd with everyone. It was awesome, man. It was really cool. I was part of the team, you know.

Do you think that fight that he had with Tyson was legit or do you think they were staged?

Uh, there's definitely way more to it. Yeah, it had to be. Yeah, it had to be more to it. Yeah, it had to be. I can't. I feel like Tyson was holding on his punches. I say that, you know, I think you can do your own digging and look into it on the contract and what was what. I don't know the foins and that, and I'm not here to talk shit in any way.

No, no, no, of course not.

But I don't believe it was a real fight, no. I don't see that because seeing Tyson train, doing all his thing, and then he threw like nothing.

Yeah, he's kind of running away though.

Yeah, he looked like an older man not moving so well.

Yeah.

And it's like, bro, dude's a legend. And like, how old is he now? He's in his 50s, isn't he? Yeah, yeah, 50— wait, it's gotta be 57 or something. It's gotta be up there, actually. Yeah, I actually want to know how old is Mike Tyson.

What do we got?

59, almost 60. I mean, like, come on, he's an older dude, like, you know what I mean?

But, but he's also Mike Tyson.

He's sitting there biting his thumb like, bro, he's like, fucking throw, you know? And it's like, he didn't really do that. I don't know, bro. Uh, yeah, I, I, you know, I didn't like the matchup personally. Yeah, I feel like the, the, the fight with Joshua, again, it was one of them things that people would like, you know, it's gonna be like a Tyson fight again. But Josh was—

first of all, how much more does he weigh than, than than Jared Goetz, bro.

He was only—

he's 240, right?

Yeah, 240, I think. What was Jake? I can't remember if he weighed in at like 2— yeah, what did Jake— I can't remember what Jake weighed in at. Maybe 2— 2— is he 216? Yeah, but is he that big? 216? Yeah.

Okay, which is still a big— still big gap, right?

Yeah, it's— yeah, it's what, 30? Yeah, 30 pounds-ish.

25 pounds.

Yeah, 25.

Yeah, he was 240 and—

yeah, yeah, yeah, 240 or 245.

Yeah, so maybe it's whatever. Yeah, 25, 30. That's a big difference.

It's a big difference, yeah, but not crazy.

Not crazy.

But then there's levels to the game. You're fighting an Olympian, someone who's still active, someone who's been doing this his whole life.

Yeah.

And he's not an old man, right? You know, and I feel we saw the difference in levels there. Yeah, you know what I mean? Um, I look forward to seeing what Jared does next. I don't have a clue.

He had his jaw broken in two places.

Yeah, of course. Like, you got smashed by a heavyweight.

Does that happen often in boxing though, where your jaws are getting broken?

It happens, but not like crazy amounts. Yeah, not really. Maybe a cut or broken nose, you know. Yeah, but yeah, to have your jaw completely like ripped apart, bro, you gotta be— jaws all wired up with a glove.

I mean, you gotta get—

yeah, you gotta get clipped.

Yeah.

So when, uh, and then seeing the press conference and everything and seeing Joshua speak and so forth, and, and knowing that they're fighting in 10-ounce gloves, I was like if this is really what's happening, if Jake doesn't catch him with a big right hand, because Jake's got a big right hand. Yeah. And I think that that was probably going to be their way of winning the fight, is if he caught Joshua, because Joshua is quite chinny.

Yeah.

And he has— his last couple fights he's been hit and he fucking stumbled around, you know. Yeah, he has. So I was like, either Jake's gonna hit him with a big right hand and stop the fight, um, hopefully, you know, if that's— that was their thing, or Joshua was gonna knock him out. Yeah, or like stopping with something.

Yeah.

Um, and yeah, you just saw the level in difference.

Yeah, it's pretty incredible to see what Jake's done going from a YouTuber into boxing.

Listen, people can talk as much shit as they want. The dude is rich as fuck. He's like, bro, dude's chilling, mate, you know. I mean, so many opportunities now. Like, he's so in the limelight. He's, you know, he's put women's boxing more on the map, you know. Amanda Serrano was making barely no money. Yeah, now she's making millions. Wow. You know?

Yeah.

And because of Jake Paul. Yeah. So people can talk their shit.

Yeah.

You know what I mean? However, but it's like what he has done for the sport and like the attention he's brought into boxing, it's like, it is insane. Yeah. You know, it is for sure. And like, you, if you can't, hats off to that, then whatever. But there's some people talking trash, talking shit, you know?

Yeah.

There's so much of it. But like, Jake, you know, Jake plays the game, you know, he talks his shit, he does his thing, he's a character, he brings entertainment. Yeah, how many people tuned in to watch the fight? Fucking everyone. So I watched everyone say it or see it. Mike Tyson, bro, Mike Tyson is what I grew up watching, you know. I would study Tyson, watch Tyson, be like, I would watch— I remember watching Tyson before my, um, before I think it was my first or my second fight, I can't remember, but I remember that day I was watching Tyson. I think it was on the internet or like looking up some videos or something. I can't, I can't remember. Yeah, but yeah, now I know who he was and what it was about. It was like, man, was he the best who ever, ever lived? Um, he was definitely up there. Obviously Muhammad Ali, obviously was a legend. Um, you know, there's a bunch of big names from back in the day, but the style of boxing then to now, it's just, it's just different, you know. Then you got like people like Mayweather. Yeah, very defensive, but he's got that speed and stuff, like Crazy, you know, like, it's again super skilled, but like everyone's good in their way, you know, and you can match people with people and be like, who do you think would win? Is, you know, it's difficult to really say. Yeah, especially like back then to now, the level of training and, and the more, you know, you got like, like no one really knew about cold plunges and, you know, like it's all real like diet, nutrition, this and science, peptides, any, any form of anything like that was never really a thing.

Whereas now it's like, if I can go into a science lab now, you know, what are some things that you've learned in the, the health and fitness lane as far as nutrition, supplementation, anything that's like, oh, this is a game changer, anything that you'd recommend people do?

I'll tell you what I feel like, I'll tell you what I think is good, and I think a lot of people should do and I don't think they do enough, is fasting, bro. Yeah, you know, fasting, whether it's intermittent fasting or if you can go a solid like at least 3 days to a week, whatever, without eating and just do like liquids. I still, I've still have done like black coffee and water. Yeah, yeah, you know, maybe a little bit of electrolytes or whatever. But when the more I look into it, there's no good lot of science behind it and how it works. And I thought that's a lot, I feel that's a cure to a lot of things. Yeah, you know, people eating so much processed shit. Yeah, packaged stuff, all, you know, the, all the Red Bull, eat this, and all the— yeah, so much. Yeah, rubbish out of it, mate. 100%, like shocking, absolutely shocking, you know. So I feel like, yeah, fasting I feel is probably something I've picked up on the last few years. Yeah, I'm a bit more like, okay, I have, I haven't for a little bit, but I was— I wanted to start yesterday, honestly, and then, um, I end up eating in the evening. But at the same time, it's like just giving your stomach a break and letting your body figure out. If we went back, I don't know, 300 years ago, let's just say, like, you couldn't just pop to McDonald's, you couldn't just go grab this and just go grab that, you know. Um, so it's like, how was we really living Yeah, you know, you give yourself a break, you know, it's like, um, but, but your body reacts to that. And then obviously again with the ketones and then like the cell, um, um, autophagy. Yeah, exactly. And it's like, you know what I mean, it's repairing ourselves and fighting this and fighting that. And then like you fucking go eat a burger. Yeah, you know what I mean? So it's like when you do look at the science behind it, I feel like, I feel like fasting is a good thing.

It's all— it's like, um, underrated It's— and it's so easy. Everyone, anyone could do it.

So easy, bro. And it can cure a bunch of things.

I did a fast last year, um, like 72 hours.

Okay.

And by the first day was like a little tough, I was hungry. Second day I was really hungry.

Yeah.

Third day I wasn't really that hungry and I just had like— I was just in a flow state, bro. My brain was just like—

you get a different energy. Yeah, that is crazy. And for weight loss, um, again, there's so many benefits from it, mate. You know, even like the fat like you build in like your intestines, around your intestines, around your organs and stuff. Like, bro, all of that will start going away. Your body will just function better. Like, I love being able to like not see my ribs, but like my stomach be like going in a little bit and like feel empty, right? But like strong, good, you know?

Yeah.

So I feel like, yeah, there's a lot of benefits from fasting. I think more people should be fasting.

What else are you doing from a nutritional or supplementation standpoint, like when you're training hard?

Um, as a— when I'm training hard, I'm really doing my thing. Um, you know, I— it depends if I'm like carb cycling cycling. Sometimes I might do like carbs for like a day or two, and then I'll have no carbs for a day, you know. So then I'll hit the— what's that? Carb cycling. I think, um, it messes with your insulin a little bit.

Gotcha.

So you're not— they're not necessarily dependent on the carbohydrates, but you're— I can't remember what the science is behind it, but if you— I can't remember if you was to Google, yeah, carb cycling. But yeah, again, there's benefits of then losing weight and so forth with it, and then using more fats. So then on the days that I will have a carb day, 150 grams of carbs for the day or whatever, again, white rice, basmati or jasmine, very simple. Yeah, um, maybe even sweet potato, um, you know, all your meats. You know, I don't do all the vegan vegetarian stuff. Like, I don't know how people live on beans. Like, yeah, I don't get that. Yeah. And I feel like we was made to eat meat. Yeah. Not the way is produced and like the farms and the chicken, you know, like, uh, you know, it's, it's a bit crazy, don't get me wrong, but I feel as humans we should eat meat. Personal preference.

Yeah.

Um, so yeah, protein intake, you know, around 200 grams, uh, 150 grams of carbs, like maybe 30, 40 grams of fat, nothing too, too crazy. And this is when I'm training hard, you know, road work smashing weights, boxing, whatever, you know, really, really solid days. And then on the, on the, on the day where I wouldn't do carbohydrates, it'd be just increase your fat intake.

Yeah.

So you just hit the system a little bit different. So, you know, yeah, it's just, it just messes with like with different, different with your insulin levels.

Yeah.

You know, that's when you're training hard. That's when I'm training hard. Yeah. Yeah. I just feel like pro, like it's not hard to cook up some ground beef, you know, ground meat and then eggs. Yeah, and just keep it simple. Yeah, you know, you know, less ingredients, less— again, like no process. If you're buying a box and it's got like 10 different ingredients in it, I'm sorry, but it's not necessarily good for you, you know. Yeah, I still eat protein bars, I still eat my, my garbage. Yeah, of course.

Yeah, occasionally.

Occasionally. Yeah, you still—

I mean, you live on it.

Yeah, but no, but living on— people live like that. Yeah, you know, like waking up having a bowl of like cereal, like regular whatever it is with all the flavoring and all like all the colors.

Cereal is insane.

Mental.

Did you see the thing that came out? It was from some government agency showing how healthy foods were compared to other foods, and on the list, Lucky Charms were above steak. It was like Lucky Charms are healthier than steak on some government— I don't remember exactly. If you look it up, Lucky Charms versus—

it's rubbish, bro.

Lucky Charms, like, bro, I mean, well, that's a deep rabbit hole to go down.

Oh, 100%.

Health companies lobbying 100% and Cheerios are good for your heart and blah blah. Yeah, I think people are starting to wake up to that, 100%.

And I wouldn't mind, but like in, in America compared to the UK or even the whole of Europe in general, um, like the FDA or whatever, the food people, the— like in, in London, for example, there's no Red40. Yeah, you don't have none of that. Yeah, you know, I think that— I think they're trying to stop it and they're going to change it here apparently.

You know that guy Eddie uh, Abravo, I think his name is. Eddie Abravo, he's a black dude, he's British, he's a bodybuilder.

Oh, with the eggs?

He's mad eggs. Yeah. And he goes to the grocery store and he's like, yo, yeah, he's hilarious.

Yeah, but he's great. Like, he, he talks like— he's talking really hard. We're talking, it's like, you know, he talks about fasting, he talks about, you know, like, eat your meat, eat your eggs, like, blah blah blah, like protein-based, this, that, and the other. And like, you see his shape, you know. And he's done like crazy cycles with steroids and this and the other, eating rubbish and this and da da da, and now he's like on such a health fix.

I love that.

Oh, 100%. And because he's real. Yeah, you know what I mean? He's like, he, he, he fucking— it's like common sense, just simple stuff, you know? And it's like all your nutrients, like eggs in general, like they do have a bunch of nutrients that you need.

Yeah.

And there's good cholesterol back there. People talk about cholesterol this and cholesterol that, but like cholesterol is good. The same as sodium and salt. People talk salt, ah, salt's bad for this, does it? But like Bro, salt like gives you energy. Yeah, you, you need it. Like, it's literally electrolyte. And you talk about electrolyte, literally you feel like you've got electric in you. You feel energized. Yeah, if you're doing it correctly, right? You know what I'm saying?

Yeah.

But people don't understand.

The problem is the medical system, it takes like 20 years to catch up to the science.

So like, but I feel straight up that not say the government or the higher and higher power people want us to be sick. Yeah, because it keeps us in the hospitals, it keeps us spending, it keeps us sick. Yeah, you know, and the same thing like with the COVID thing is that the scare tactics and all the, all the rubbish is out there, mate. Yeah, I don't believe anything I see anymore.

Same.

Like, brother, nothing. I even got— not say I got into a conspiracy about it, but I really sat back and I've seen a bunch of things on like even Flat Earth Theory. I believe we are a ball. I, I feel like we are, we are a globe. Yeah, um, but I feel there's parts of the world that we haven't seen, and especially like we talk about Alaska and this and that. I can go deep, mate, talking about the pyramids and how they align.

Oh, come on, bro, there's been so much bullshit over the last few years that I don't— also don't believe anything I see anymore, which is why I like to talk to other people that are healthy in their own regard, understand how they live their lives. Because if you believe everything you see, you're going to be fat and sick and low energy and low vibration. And then on top of that You're watching the news and then the news is like, you know, eggs are too expensive and people are like, shit, I can't buy them, they're too expensive. And they're just like, bro, it's a roller coaster. People are just living.

Everyone lives that way, bro. Yeah. And it's crazy, like, especially now with AI, bro. Scary, mate. Yeah, it's so scary.

Yeah. Yeah. I saw a video of a tsunami hitting Argentina. I was like, damn, Argentina got smoked by tsunami. It was AI, but it looks so real, you know? You don't know what's real anymore.

Crazy, bro. You know, it is scary. It's really scary. Yeah, even honestly, and I'm gonna throw us out there, but even the moon landing, I just, I don't, I can't see it. Everyone's got their thing. People say yeah, and I know people think, but like, bro, I think it's fucking dog shit. Yeah, it's 244,000 miles away. We flew up there in a little tin, sat down on a sat phone, called the president. Yeah, but I can't even call someone 2 miles down the street because I've got no reception, and you've done it from up there back in the '70s. '70s. 60s, 60s or 70s. Fucking rubbish.

I just, I can't see when the moon landing was.

Yeah, I just, I can't, I can't fathom it. I don't know, I just, I think it's such a fun subject to bring up.

The year of the moon landing, 69.

It's like, could it have happened? Yeah, but, but come on, bro, it was this big rush with the Russians and this and that and England— America won.

Yeah, you know, I wouldn't be shocked if it was fake based on how much bullshit is out there. Yeah, now, but like everyone grew up with like, oh, America landed on the moon. So if you have any idea against it, you're like outcasted. It's like, of course, you're very hesitant to share that.

Well, I have people that are like adamant that it happened.

I'm like, but then you get grouped in with the flat earthers.

Yeah, like, well, okay, exactly. And this is the thing, and this is— and I'll tell you what, it was like literally a couple months months ago, uh, maybe a few months ago, I was on the phone to— I speak to my mom every day, I speak to my parents every day, and I'll be like, Mom, I've been watching this dude and like he talks about like flat earth theories and this, that, and the other, and like he speaks to pilots and explains like the routes that they go and they should be tilting a little bit and they never do, yeah, you know, and all of this. So there's things I'm like, what are we— what, are we in like a fish tank? Like, you know, so I've just got to the point where, you know what, I don't believe shit. And, and, and I feel like, again, and again, nothing against people that believe in religion or whatever, But it's the same thing. It's like, who wrote the Bible? And the Bible's changed over like 200, 300 years. It's changed. Things have been taken out, things being put back in. And it's like, how do you know? I've never seen him. He's never sat at the table with me and been like, yo, what's up, brother, I'm Jesus. And like, you know, disappeared, you know. And I know people have these things, they talk to somebody and whatever, and like, all for them, like 100%. And I got mad Christian. I go to church. Yeah, I still go to church and stuff. Doesn't necessarily believe I'm this or that or whatever, but it's like I— it's, it's just if I can't see it or really it be in front of me and me like understand it like and facts, yeah, I'm like, I don't know.

I mean, history is a giant game of telephone. It's— and it's, it's— you're reading about the winners. It's the winners who wrote the history, you know. And I think religion is a great thing. It gives people a framework for how to precisely—

it gives people a bit of guidance for sure.

And, and I believe there's a lot of truth in the messages and the stories, but trying to take something and, and say, oh, that's exactly how it was, no questions asked, not really my thing. I think it serves its place.

To not get too political, and I, I don't want to burn bridges of anybody, but it's like when you do look at religion as, as Christianity in general, or God, or whatever, how you want to see it, like God and Christianity, it is really about being a good person and putting good out into the world.

Right, right.

But then you've got the other side with these other cultures.

Yeah.

And it's a little different.

Yeah.

And that doesn't sit right with a lot of people, including myself.

There should be no violence.

There should be no violence. No one should be marrying children. Yeah, brother, like, come on, brother. Like, there's levels to the madness, mate.

Yeah.

Like, bro, like, I'll fucking burn the world down if I had to, you know. It's like, there's levels to the madness on what people want and what, uh, what they want in this world. But I just feel like, just be a good person. And the biggest thing for me and why I have gone to church— I've gone to church with like a very Christian friend of mine, and, um, I go there with his family. I enjoy the family orientation that it is, and, you know, and it's all about good, putting good into the world, you know, helping a friend, and, you know, and that I can relate to. Yeah, for sure, 100%, because that I understand.

My biggest realization is like, you know, heaven and hell, right? Like, there's— it's this depiction of, oh, you're gonna go here if you were a good person, you're gonna go there If you're a bad person. But I came to the realization that your life will either feel like heaven or it'll feel like hell.

100%.

If you start going down the path of impulsive decisions, doing whatever you want, drinking too much, smoking, taking people, lying. Imagine if you're a bad person, your conscience is going to make you feel like you're living in hell. Yep. I had a funny story. I had, um, a few years back, um, my, my phone stopped working for some reason. and I was trying to get back to my hotel and it wasn't loading and I was like, that's weird. And I went to go log into my T-Mobile account, see if I paid my bill. It said my password was changed. I went to my email, password was changed, and I get a call. My phone works. I get a call from unknown number and it was a hacker and he's like, give me 3 Bitcoin and I'll give you your shit back. And I'm like, oh my God. I'm like, so anyway, bruh, that's crazy. So I'm like, 3-hour conversation with this guy. And we got to this point. I was like, listen, and I found out he was a 17-year-old kid. He was in Europe. I was like, you're lucky you got on a call with me today because here's the reality of the situation. You keep doing this to people and you're gonna have to keep looking over your shoulder because people are gonna come after you. You're gonna be scared of getting in trouble, and that is going to start to really weigh on you. And eventually you're not gonna be able to cope with it, so you're probably gonna turn to drugs or alcohol.

Yep.

And it's going to feed and it's going to feed and that's not going to work anymore. And eventually you're going to kill yourself. And this hacker on the phone with me starts crying.

Amazing.

And we end up talking for like another hour and he ends up giving me back all my stuff without the 3 Bitcoin. Then texts me later, if you ever need a hacker, you know. And by the way, you could listen to the conversation because my assistant was in the room and she was— she recorded it. I didn't even know. After I got off the phone, it's like 1:00 in the morning. She's like, I just got the whole whole thing on, on record. So if you, if you Google Jared Goetz Vice News, you could hear the conversation.

Okay.

But it was a depiction of how life can be hell. Yeah. When you're a bad person.

Yeah, 100%. I love it that— because in the UK I'd had a lot of problems, uh, I'd knocked a lot of people out, like on the door, this. Any other people come back, bang, fuck it. I had a lot of shit, and I would be looking over my shoulder, and it was a little uncomfortable for some years, and then it was whatever.

Yeah.

And I love it that in America, like, I haven't I've done nothing bad in my life, like, in being in America. Like, I'm a good person. Yeah. And I have zero reason to look over my shoulder.

Yeah.

And I love that sense of security and that sense of safety because I haven't done anything necessarily.

Yeah.

To have anyone be behind me in that aspect, you know.

Yeah.

Um, obviously I can defend myself and whatever and do whatever, but it's the fact that, you know, is someone coming after me? It's, you know, and, and I haven't done anything to anybody for someone enough to try and do some shit.

You avoid being a bad person. You avoid impulsive decisions to take drugs or, you know, or, or just overeat bad things or just like— and this is what the things religion talks about, right? Um, be a gift to other people, help other people, you know, love is important, the most important thing. Like, those are two different, you know, paths you can live on. And I had that realization. I was like, that, you know, your life can be a living hell or it can be a heaven. Yeah, 100% frameworks of this stuff is one point.

But that's what I mean, again, there is a lot from it that even I can relate to and understand. Yeah, you know, but I feel I'm doing it for the better version of myself to be a good person in this world. Yeah, I don't necessarily think I'm doing it for someone sitting up in a cloud. That's how I see that, you know what I'm saying? Yeah, but again, it's like, uh, if there's anything to it. It's like, yeah, Christianity, I feel, makes way more sense in any way, shape, or form in that aspect. Just be a good soul, bro.

100%. And whatever God is, our puny human minds cannot comprehend it anyway. It's way beyond our ability. So however you want to depict things, you depict them.

Listen, whatever works. Yeah, so there's so much in the world that I feel we don't know, or that gets hidden from us. And honestly, even like the Charlie Kirk stuff Like, what a setup scam shit. Like, I don't— I have such nonsense, bro. Yeah, no dude was up on the roof and shot the dude and fucking rubbish.

I mean, I, I watched a video about how like trying to disassemble the gun and get off the roof and like the whole thing and then change his outfit this ever and then got somewhere else and then re-put his gun together.

Fuck off. No way.

That's, that's the problem is we'll never know.

We're not gonna know. So, and that's the thing. And then, and it's weird. And then you see Erica Kirk, and it's like, uh, she posted something quite recently. Someone done like an AI thing, and it was like her walking out at a concert, like dancing to this music. And it's like, it's kind of what we saw, you know. She'd go to these like rallies and things, and it's like busy and fire and fireworks, and he's all happy. And it's like, bro, someone just killed my husband.

Yeah.

Or like my wife.

What, brother?

I'm going on a fucking rampage, mate. Yeah, I'm like, how are you so in it? Like, just nonsense.

It doesn't make sense.

It doesn't make zero sense.

It's like we come to the realization that, okay, most of the— most things we're never going to know the real truth. So the only thing we have is here and now and us and our habits, our disciplines, the things that we do, the good things we do. And it's like people go crazy over these things. They go crazy trying to figure things out, and that's also not a path I want to live. No, you know, I don't want to— I'd love to know the truth.

Yeah, I do my best, and I tell people as well, like, sometimes, like, like, turn your phone off or put your phone away for a bit and just go out, go for a walk or something. Like, have no electronics even on you, you know. Like, for me, I like going to the beach. Yeah, put my phone silent, put it in my, in my, my chair, and just go get in the ocean and just be grounded a bit. And like be it just you, you know, sometimes. Because people do— again, I've myself, I'm one to even say, like, I've been stuck in doom scrolling, mate. And you get stuck and stuck, stuck, stuck. And I'm like, yo. And then I start to feel myself like getting agitated and stuff, like stuff I'm seeing.

And I'm like, there's one more, you never know what's gonna be.

Exactly, bro, it's crazy. Um, but yeah, I'll tell everyone, like, if you can, like, put your phone down for a bit.

And yeah, like, you know, I don't have any social media on my phone right now. No, I deleted and then I'll eventually, I redownload it to look at some messages. But like, I don't have YouTube, I don't have Instagram, I don't have Facebook, I don't have anything on my phone. I can't, I don't have the self-control. Like, if I go on to do something, you'd be stuck on it right in, or right before bed, I'm like, let me just check real quick. And it's like, what am I feeding my mind all this shit for?

I want to look at your phone in a dark room, like staring at that shit, looking at whatever, and then you're going to sleep thinking about whatever you just watched.

I think I would rather do blow and stay up till 2 in the morning than scroll on my phone.

Sounds way better, 100%. It's crazy, better for me. Absolutely crazy, mate.

So I'm gonna hit you some, uh, rapid-fire questions to wrap up. Okay, so what—

well, wait, let me just look at my sweat patches, bro.

Oh, you're cutting weight, bro.

Ridiculous, mate. The Sweat Monster.

Anyway, you're coming.

I love it. It's just my armpits, bro. I need to get Botox in my pits. It's just my armpits. Yeah, my dad had it done.

Needle in your armpit sounds a little—

yeah, it was.

Bad. Actually, I got a needle. I got stem cells in my brain.

Okay.

They took this fucking really long needle, they numbed my nostril, and they stuck a needle into— in my nose, up behind my sinuses, and injected. The doctor's like— he's like— and a good guy, I love the guy— he's like, yeah, you'll feel some pressure for about 3 minutes and then it'll go away. I could deal with that. Puts it in immediately, a 9.5 out of 10 pain. I'm like kicking my feet, I'm like, oh, that's not pressure. And then it, 3 minutes later it went away. I'm like, oh, I'm like sweating. And then he's like, all right, we gotta do the other side. I'm like, fuck, I mean, I paid like 8 grand for this, I should probably do the other side.

Yo, that's crazy.

I did the other side and it was luckily like a little bit less painful. But what was that for? Why? To be honest with you, I don't really know.

I don't know, just spend 8 grand, stick these things up my nose.

I got my— I brought my mom in to get, um, stem cells on her knee for a torn meniscus, and I was like, well, I was like, I should get some stuff. And I've done some stem cells like IV, which you don't get a direct benefit from, but it's supposed to do a lot of stuff. Yeah. And they were like, have you tried the, the, you know, the brain stem cells? Like, no, I'll try that. So I just I just did it. Okay. I don't really know what it does.

Do you feel any— did you feel any different after you?

I mean, I felt really good and I still feel really good, but like, I'm also doing tons of other things, so like, it could completely be placebo or it could have repaired things in my brain. I don't even know.

Interesting.

I'm like on the side of like, try things and then, you know, and then research them, whereas I probably should research then try that and then try.

Yeah, but it was like, it was an impulsive decision. Yeah, stick the needles up my nose. Yeah, let's do it.

It's not what I feel bad about.

That's crazy. That's crazy.

If it repaired even one brain cell.

Yeah, if you've done something.

Yeah, you know, you know, could be worth it.

Crazy.

All right, so go on, hit me. All right, what is the most life-changing piece of advice or habit that you've learned and implemented into your life?

Um, say it to me one more time.

What's the most life-changing piece of advice that you've ever received, or habit that you've implemented in your life?

Um, I say, oh man, that's a tricky one. I feel when it comes to, um, again, like as a quote, talking about habit as such, which I did even mention earlier, like habits become personality, um and I can't remember where I heard it. Someone told— I can't generally remember, but it's something that's always stuck in my head. And I feel like I've witnessed it because I've, you know, gone on a slippery slope of like drinking too much and like smoking too much. And then people know me like— know me as like someone who smokes weed, or no one sounds— so you're a bit of an alcoholic, or because you're drinking a lot, or whatnot. So I feel like habits do— habits become personality. And I feel that's a phrase that stuck in my head for years.

Yeah.

And I can never really forget it. That's why you mentioned it. It's just I always think about it because it's, it's so true. I love that, you know.

Yeah.

And, um, and again, even the old Tyson thing, it's like doing things, um, do things uncomfortable but do them like you love it.

I do. That is, that's a, that's a power.

But it's like so true.

Yeah.

You know, yeah. And you don't want to do it, but then you do it, and then you're like, fuck, I'm so glad I've done that.

Yeah.

But I didn't want to do it. Right, but I still done it.

It happens to me every time I go for a run. Yeah, I don't want to do it, and then I'm 2 miles in and I'm like—

and then, and then I go through challenges because I always run with headphones, and then I go for a challenge where I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna run with no headphones today, should be with my thoughts. Yeah, I go around 6, 8 miles. Yeah, just me in the street, you know, and it's like you can only think what you're going to be thinking or seeing, but it's like you're in your head. Yeah, and you've still got to get this done, right, you know. So then you're making it extra hard, right? You know, um, so yeah, habits become personality. And, and yeah, um, do, do things that you don't like but do them like you love them.

Love that.

Period.

Great. Um, how do you keep yourself in a high energy state during dark or challenging times?

I've had my fair share of dark moments, and even as of recent, honestly, I've had a lot change in the last few months. Moved back to Miami, split with my girl. A few changes with, you know, where I'm going with my career, and then obviously doing all tactical training now. I'm like becoming a bodyguard and da da da, um, and it's been quite overwhelming. I'm home on my own and then it's like you're in your, in your head, you know. Um, you gotta think, um, there is people that would literally kill and spend as much money as they could spend to be in your shoes and have what you have, you know. Um, you know, I've got a full tank of petrol and I've got a roof over my head. Yeah, and that's more than most.

Yeah.

So I feel, um, I think about the people that don't have nothing or people that are going through way worse situations in this world, mate, and know how grateful and blessed I am to, um, to be here doing what I'm doing, living a dream that people could literally only dream for.

Yeah. Wow. Yeah, it's powerful. Yeah, love that.

Yeah.

What's one thing that you believed about life for a long time that turned out to be wrong?

Oh, well, moon landing. Um, uh, what was, uh, do you know what, and I'm not saying that it was wrong, but what I think is wrong, honestly, weirdly, I feel like evolution. I feel like things have evolved and stuff, but why are monkeys not turning into humans anymore? I feel that we're probably aliens and put here. Again, that's the mindset. It's not a factual thing, but I did truly was like, yeah, we must have been apes.

Yeah.

But I'm really not too sure that is the case.

Yeah.

So again, it's where I tell you I don't necessarily believe a lot of things that I see, but I think evolution Um, yeah, that's a, that's a topic that I feel I really backed away from thinking personally. Again, from young, what we educated in school, and now, like, bro, like, I, I believe, like, definitely there's aliens, there's got to be other things out there, and I feel like we are probably the aliens, or we are it. Yeah, we just don't know it. Yeah, you know, um, or there's people that were a higher power, and then we're going to use this amount of our brain and so forth. So I just feel like where's, where's, where's evolution gone? Where did it just like disappear to?

Yeah, also like, yeah, I mean, we're such a young species relative to, yeah, the history of the world and the universe.

And if you really look back, back, back, people were supposedly living to like 400 or 500 years old and all of this stuff, and people, humans were bigger. And yeah, um, so yeah, again, I don't feel there's enough facts realistically to really tell me what is right and what is wrong and like what really did happen in this world.

I think if you, if you want to prove something to be right or something to be wrong, you could do either of those things in life. And I think that's what a lot of things that we learn is a byproduct of. If you want to find why something's right, you can do that. If you want to find why it's wrong, you can do that.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Um, what is something that you believe most people are doing wrong in life or not serving themselves, that they can do better or to live a better life?

Um, self-discipline. It's really as clean-cut as that. Self-discipline. Look, majority of people know what's right and what's wrong. If you're going out on a bender every weekend putting stuff up your nose and doing this and doing that, you know technically that's not right. But yet you still choose to do it. Your discipline is telling you not to do that and do something that's better for you, you know, be more grounded, work on yourself, be more, you know, don't lie, be organic, be real. And, um, again, do things that you don't want to do but you know that it's something that's going to benefit you. Like, I don't read, and I go through stages where I try and read my 10 pages and stuff. Yeah, um, I haven't for a little while, but it's— again, I hate reading. Yeah, but I know that it's good for me, and I'll sit and do my best. And then when I do, I'm like, okay, I'm happy I've done that, you know. Yeah. Um, but I think that self-discipline, um, is, is a, is a cure to a lot of things, bro.

Yeah.

Because majority of people know what's common sense and what's right and what's wrong. Obviously you've got fucking idiots that are out there, but yeah, self-discipline, man, you know. Um, yeah, be true to yourself, you know. You know what you should be doing or shouldn't be doing. Period. But if you still choose to do the wrong things, more for you, mate. You know, self-discipline will change that.

Yeah, love it. Yeah, amazing.

Appreciate you.

Good stuff.

Fuck yeah.

Thank you.

I appreciate you, son.

Good times.

That was fun.
