Mastering Net Retention: Boost Your Revenue Growth

In this segment of the YouTube presentation, Jason M. Lemkin explains that once a SaaS company reaches roughly $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), achieving high percentage growth—such as 40% year‑over‑year—becomes extremely difficult if net retention hovers around 100%. Purely adding new logos cannot generate the required $40 million of net new revenue. Consequently, the speaker stresses that to sustain such growth, companies must focus on driving upsell and adoption of new products within their existing customer base, thereby raising net retention above 100% and avoiding a growth ceiling.
