Internal Alignment - key to achieving breakthrough success.

Jason S. Bradshaw argues that breakthrough success requires internal alignment: every person in your organization needs to understand your purpose, vision, goals, and the 3-5 key pillars that deliver them. He recommends making those pillars part of daily decision-making and communications, whether you're a solopreneur or a large firm.

On the show now you will be able to get a free copy of the annual report that has 15 trends that I've identified from working with various clients throughout 2023. And research will be the determining factor between those companies that survive in 24 and those that thrive in 2024. Now you might be thinking 15 things is a lot to work on. The reality is you'll probably only work on two or three of them and perhaps just keep an intentional focus on those other areas. But it'll be slightly different for each business on what the most important area is to focus on. Grab the report, give it a read, be sure to share it with people and of course take some action from it. So you can also join the newsletter at LinkedIn. However, you don't get a copy of the report there. So today Internal Alignment Now I honestly struggled with whether I put this in number one or number two. The reality is none of the trends are necessarily ranked order but if they were, internal alignment would be up there most definitely. And just excuse that cough there, internal alignment definitely would be up there. In fact, in my recommendations I say choose two of the trends to focus on through the year and add to that internal alignment. The reason being it has such a profound impact on the pace at which your business can go. Now, what do I mean by internal alignment? Well, it's about ensuring that every single person in your organization has a, has alignment with the purpose and the vision, the goals, the objectives of the organization. So if your organization has an objective this year of being the most loved retail outlet, great. What makes up those components? Make sure everyone in your team understands that to achieve this objective of being the best retail outlet, we need to achieve A, B, C, D and E. I think there should be three to five key pillars that when achieved when delivered consistently, is what helps you deliver on that objective. Now why do I say three to five? Well, people can. Research shows that people can't remember more than five. Most people will remember three. And so somewhere between three and five is the ideal sweet spot. Because you want the pillars to achieve those objectives to be top of mind in every decision that they make. So that when your retail team is making sure that you have 95% in stock in your stores, your purchasing team isn't making decisions that deliver more profit but mean you can't achieve 95% in stock. As an example, it also means that when you say you're going to be number one in customer experience, that when the customer frontline teams ask for something, people in the organization make it a priority to deliver it because they know and they are aligned with the goal of being number one in customer experience. So internal alignment. Now this is as important in a single person business as it is in a 600,000 person business. You see, if you're a solopreneur and you're not absolutely clear on what matters to you, what you want to be famous for, and what are those blocks that will allow you to deliver it in a profitable way, then you're just going to go from bouncing ball to bouncing ball. And if you're in a large organization, the same will apply. It doesn't matter the size of the organization, if you don't have internal alignment, then you won't be able to achieve your growth goals at the pace that you want to achieve. And this is why we often see startups achieving growth so quickly, is because they're really crystal clear around how to solve, around how they're solving a particular problem, the value that they deliver. And because it's a small team, they communicate clearly and have constant alignment. So if you're a leader within a bigger organization or a leader of a big organization, the goal here is to make sure that those three to five things that are absolutely imperative in your organization, they aren't just something that you put up on a poster. There's something that you talk about every single day. There's something that you reference in every single decision. There's something that you intrinsically make sure every single team member understands and is aligned to. Internal alignment should not be undervalued. Internal alignment is a key differentiator between those businesses that survive, those and those that thrive, those businesses that achieve breakthrough success. As always, I can help you and your team achieve breakthrough success in 2024 and beyond. You can apply to see whether we're a right fit for each other. I only take on a limited number of clients each year because I want to make sure that I can deliver you the attention and the value that you want, that you deserve. But importantly, I also want to make sure that I am going to be able to serve you effectively and assist you. So you can apply. It's free to apply@businessbreakthroughcoaching.net and then one of my team or I will reach out to you to schedule that one on one 15 minute session just to make sure that we're 100% aligned and to get your program started. But right now, just take a moment to ask yourself the question, is my team, is my organization aligned to our true goals and what it means to achieve them, how we go about achieving them, and if they're not? Today's the day to start to communicate, to start to get alignment. I wish you great success in everything that you're doing. Until next time, stay well.
