Jay V. Jackson walks through the five Reiki Precepts and how to use them as daily meditation. The phrase "just for today" removes pressure to be perfect. A short hand-over-heart practice takes five minutes and can focus on one precept or all five.

Hello, this is Jay with Illumine Reiki Academy. I'm welcoming you to another Illumine Reiki Insight. This week I wanna talk to you about using the Reiki Precepts as a daily meditation practice. The Reiki Precepts are really the core heart of how we embrace and use Reiki. Many Reiki students learn these precepts early on in their training, which are, you know, just for today, Do not anger. Just for today, do not worry. Just for today, be grateful. Just for today, do your work honestly. And just for today, be kind to every living thing. At first, um, you know, these may sound like simple spiritual reminders, but they are actually very beautiful reminders Um, but the Reiki precepts are more than just words to recite. They become a living meditation, something we use on an ongoing basis, every part of our life. When we slow down and sit with them, they begin to reveal where Reiki is inviting us to heal, soften, listen, and return to the present moment. And the words "just for today" are especially important. They are often the neglected principles of the Reiki Precepts. They do not ask us to become perfect forever. They do, they do invite us into this day, this breath, this choice, this moment of awareness that makes the precepts gentle and practical. When we meditate with 'do not anger,' we're not pretending anger never arises. Instead, Reiki helps us listen beneath anger. When we can ask, what is this protecting? What truth needs to be acknowledged? Is there a boundary, an old wound, or a need asking for compassion? When we meditate with 'do not worry,' we are not shaming ourselves for concern that we've expressed or felt. We are noticing where the mind is trying to control the future. Reiki helps us soften the grip of worry and return to what is ours today. Just for today, be grateful becomes a heart practice. It helps us notice what is already supporting us. Gratitude does not deny that there is difficulty in life. It reminds us that goodness can still be present even when life is less than perfect. And then, do your work honestly brings us into the integrity factor. It helps us to be truthful with ourselves, our practice, our relationships, and our spiritual growth. Reiki is not performance. It is relationship. And be kind to every living thing includes others, animals, the earth, ourselves. And that last part really matters. Many Reiki students are naturally kind to others but are much harder on themselves. Guilty as charged. So Reiki invites a fuller compassion. So here's a simple practice that you can use. So just go ahead and sit comfortably and place your one hand over your heart, maybe hand on your lower belly, or wherever they feel guided, um, to be. And now just invite Reiki in and take a slow breath and say inwardly, just for today, help me be present. Just for today, help me to listen beneath anger. Just for today, help me soften worry into trust. And just for today, Help me recognize what I'm truly grateful for. And just for today, help me do my work honestly and with integrity. And just for today, help me be kind to every living thing, including myself. Then rest was freaky. And you can take this practice for 5 minutes or longer. The length matters less than the sincerity of your presence. Some days you may feel one precept may stand out beyond the others, and just let your— that become your meditation for the day. Other days you may move through all of them gently. The Reiki precepts are not asking you to become perfect. They're inviting you to return just for today, just this breath, just this practice. And thank you for being here. So thank you so much for watching this, and just know that this process of integrating the Reiki precepts into our daily and every waking moment is— can be a lifelong journey, but it can help us to find much joy, happiness, and service to ourself and to others. I hope you have a beautiful day, and I look forward to seeing you again here soon. And I'm sending many Reiki healing and blessings, and talk to you again soon. Take care now. Bye.
