You cannot treat your A players any different than players who are not performing. You got to help everybody realize their very best potential. And you got to get agreement that accountability matters and that when you are bringing that best out of them, they're going to lean into that. They're not going to buck against that accountability. They're going to lean into it because they know it makes them better, but it makes their teammates better, too. And I'll expand more on exactly how to implement that approach. You're not going to make everybody happy. When you cook dinner for your family, you, you say, gosh, jeez, I really hope that a few people at the table are really upset with the food that I made today. No, you want to make everybody happy. You can't do that in business. The late Steve Jobs said, if you want to make everybody happy, go sell ice cream. Your responsibility is to lead. You're not the family member, you're the leader. Show up and lead and bring the best out of your teammates.
