How to Gain Leverage Without Losing Control

When others control resources you need, they control your decisions. A couple waited seven to eight months for a Tesla and couldn't reschedule pickup even once. Lenders have leverage in home buying unless you pay cash. Infinite banking is one way to build your own financial leverage.

You can think about all those situations you've come across in life where someone else got to dictate, you know, because you were dependent on them. And the same thing when it comes to money and different things in life, who's got control?
Today, we got a question for you. Yeah, it's a straightforward kind of question. Do you have leverage working for you or against you? Now, Fran's got an interesting little story that he heard recently that he just wanted to share with you all. And I think this one really gives you insight as to what kind of leverage are we talking about?
So recently I was listening to a podcast and I heard the. The host of the podcast, a gentleman. Share. Share the story I'm about to share with you guys started off with him and his wife wanting to purchase a Tesla. And this is something that his wife really wanted to have for herself. And so they had made the purchase seven or eight months ago, but they never got their Tesla. And the reason being is there was so much demand for Tesla that they had to wait a long time to get it. And so they were told that it's going to take about seven to eight months for them to get the Tesla. And they decided, okay, you know, it's worth the wait. We've worked hard for this. And so let's, let's do it. Let's, let's wait. So they waited seven to eight months. They got the call from Tesla, and Tesla said, hey, your vehicle's ready for pickup. It's going to be on this date. And they shared the date with the gentleman and his wife. And it so happened that the date that they shared conflicted with vacation that they were both going on. The gentleman had to make a decision in that moment. And the decision was this. One is to negotiate a date or two was to either postpone his trip and try to get this Tesla on that date. Right? And you would think that, oh, you know what, I could probably negotiate a date with Tesla. And from my own experience, not with Tesla, but with some other things, I'm able to negotiate dates to find a date that works for both parties. But in this case, the gentleman tried that, and Tesla flat out said no. And here's why. Tesla had a lineup of people ready to pick up that car if he wasn't willing to on that day. So the gentleman had to change his flights for another day so then he could accommodate that day to go ahead and pick up the Tesla, because there was no way they were going to wait another seven or eight months for a year. Or how long is it going to take for them to get that Tesla? And so the point I'm trying to make was Tesla had the leverage in their hands because of the demand from people wanting to own a Tesla. And for that reason, he had to suffer the inconvenience of rescheduling its plans and all of that in order to get the car. And so it got me thinking about other aspects of life where many people, including myself, don't have leverage on certain things and especially on things that we want. So here's an example. We at Ascended Financial, we talk about the infinite banking concept, becoming your own banker. And if you want to learn more about that, watch the video below. Whatsappc.com the point I'm trying to make is that when it comes to wanting something. So, for example, if you want to purchase a home, who holds the leverage in that case? Now, if you have the cash to do it, then you have the gold, so you have the leverage to go ahead and purchase that property outright. No one's going to really stop you from doing that. But what happens if you don't? Who has the leverage in that situation?
Majority of people. When they go to buy a home, who has the leverage? Well, they're going to end up, you know, meeting the requirements of some financial institution. Financial institutions are going to have the leverage. They're going to state, you know, you have to have this size of a down payment and then they're also going to set, you know, what else will they set? Well, they'll set the terms, say, well, this is what your interest rate's going to be in the first part of this mortgage. This is what your payment's going to look like. And you have to agree to all of their terms because we don't have the leverage.
When you are trying to figure out how to get the down payment, how to present these documents that the bank requires, you don't really have a lot of say in that situation. You kind of got to do what they tell you to do or else you, you're not buying, you're not getting that house. That's just the way it is. They have the leverage, they have the control. And as we're going to now jump into, they have the goals, they make the rules.
You as a viewer, you can think about all those situations you've come across in life where someone else got to dictate, you know, because you were dependent on them. And the same thing when it comes to money and different things in life, who's got control if you want to change that narrative to a point where, you know, you go to buy that Tesla or whatever you know you want to buy in life where you're not dependent on someone else for financing, well, that's one of the key advantages of the infinite banking concept over time as you start to build your capital, because it's all about capitalization. As you build that capital, you get and have more opportunities and it just changes everything for you. If you're able to purchase a home on your terms, it gives you more flexibility. You hold the leverage even with the seller of that home. It's a little different if you have all the capital you need to purchase that home. And again, situations vary. And when, depending on where you're buying at home or whatever it is you're buying. And that leverage will mean more in one place than it will with the other. But when it comes to not losing control, not losing, not having someone else dictate, you know, can you get that or not? That's what the infinite banking concept allows you to do over time if you take the time and energy to build capital. And so what we're talking about, you know, going back to the golden rules. Nelson said, think long range, don't be afraid to capitalize. Really, those are two of the key, you know, five golden rules. It's just like you have to build capital somewhere if you want to change the leverage part of financial things. I wanted to read just a few paragraphs out of the book and if you haven't seen this book before, it's called becoming your own banker. Byron Nelson Nash, the founder of the infinite banking concept. And it's just a great book, it's only a four hour read, but there's just lots of great information in here. And Nelson, God bless him, he's no longer with us, but he left it with all kinds of tidbits. And earlier, as Tran is speaking, he spoke about gold and who's got the gold makes the rules. Page 31 of Nelson's book, it's called the golden rule. He starts that right off with those who have the gold make the rules. And I just wanted to share a story that Nelson put in here because Nelson loved to tell stories. And this one's about Panasonic. Most of us know when we think of Panasonic, well, at least for me, I go to TVs, but there's a lot of things that electronics like that that Panasonic does. And anyhow, this is a, a story that Nelson tells in a book about where Panasonic wanted to Build a plant in Mexico. They thought it was a good marriage because they had the capital and the people of Mexico needed to work. So they thought, well, this will work great. We'll do it. You know, we'll do a deal with the Mexican government. We'll build a plant there. And this is kind of how the story goes. So in the infinite wisdom of the Mexican government at the time, if you wanted to establish such a business there, they required that Mexicans own 51% of the business. So they started to dictate the rules to Panasonic. That means, you know, the Mexicans control the business. Now, the typical Japanese strategy at the time ran like this. You put money into a business and you should expect to lose money for five years. When you start making money, you should plow it all back into the business for five more years. Only after this time should you expect to take money out of your business. But the typical Mexican outlook on a business venture is to demand a bonus at the very start. Kind of like signing a bonus with a star assay, as Nelson says. Do I have to tell you what happened? Panasonic pulled out of Mexico and went somewhere else where the capital is appreciated and managed with care. Who won and who lost in this story, Panasonic had the gold, so they made the rules, and it could be no other way. Capital is a responsibility and should be treated with great respect. If you have a large amount of cash on hand, all sorts of opportunities will appear and you can negotiate very favorable purchase prices. And so many of life's problems would disappear if this understanding was generally accepted and practiced widely amongst the population. And Tran, I think that goes back and fits beautifully with what you were talking about with leverage. And so people will take the time, utilize this concept. That's what Nelson understood. He said it's about capitalization, building capital so that you can take a hold of those opportunities that will come your way in life and make a difference for you and for your family. Do you have the leverage working for you or against you? And then think about the golden rule. He who's got the gold makes the rules. And it's in your best interest in mine to build that warehouse, capitalize with that. We're just going to encourage you to take in some more of our videos. There's a lot of great information on the infinite banking concept.
