And loving them doesn't mean that you're there to make them all happy every day. Loving them means you know when to kick and when to hug. But if you're putting yourself before the team, they'll see that, too. And if you're failing to recognize coaching opportunities and you'd rather scold people to elevate your own ego or to demonstrate your authority, believe me, people are going to vote with their feet. That's when you know you've got a strong team.
