Infinite Banking is a method to control how you finance things and recapture interest you'd otherwise pay to banks, not an investment strategy or about rates of return. Nelson's concept teaches you to become your own banker instead of following the single path schools and institutions push.

So you've heard me mention the Infinite Banking Concept and you're probably asking, what is it? This is right from Nelson's book on page 3. It is not about investments of any kind. It is about how one finances the things of life, which can certainly include investments. It is not about rates of return. Process banking goes on no matter what is happening. The essence of the concept is to control how you finance the things that you'll need throughout the course of your lifetime while recapturing the interests that you would otherwise paid to someone else's bank or finance company. That's the concept. The reason that it becomes an issue is because since the beginning, aging and growing up, we've been told and taught that there's only one way to do something. We've been led down a system that was created not necessarily to benefit us, but a system that we fell into that was already there. And that's what we were shown. So we just followed the herd. There's a reason why financial education, that literacy component, is not taught in schools. Okay.
