A short motivational lecture (YouTube) by Jayson Lowe arguing that individuals should ‘become their own banker’ — i.e., control the banking function that affects their financial actions. Lowe stresses this is complementary to other investments (stocks, real estate) and emphasizes mindset/understanding more than technical instruction: once the idea is ‘caught’ the appropriate actions become clear.

The process of becoming your own banker is not about addressing the yield of an investment. It's not an either or I'm going to invest in the stock market or I'm going to implement the process of becoming your own banker. The key here is that you cannot get a better rate of return doing anything if you're ignoring who's controlling the function of banking as it relates to that thing that you want to do. Someone, some organization, must perform the function of banking as it relates to your needs and that someone can and should be you. So this comes and as well as I am going to become my own banker as well as invest in the stock market as well as invest in real estate, recognize that you're not the banker in your life as it relates to your needs and you should be. And so embracing this process, it's more caught than it is taught. And so once you catch the understanding of this, you'll understand the problem solution will become clear and you'll know exactly what to do.
