Hello and welcome to the Evidence Based Company Chiropractor. I AM your host, Dr. Jeff Langmaid. This week we're gonna talk about a piece of information that I've been excited to share for quite a few weeks and it is about how you can find your own research each and every week, month, quarter or year and the tools to do so quickly and efficiently. So I hope you are checking out the Evidence Based Chiropractor on Facebook, on the evidencebasedchiropractor.com and all of our avenues that are daily to see the latest in musculoskeletal care and the latest in chiropractic care more specifically. But if you want to search out your own research then I'm happy to give you the tools to do so. And they are pretty cool and pretty easy to use. So before we get started I will say a few words about Rocktape as we do each and every week. Rocktape is proud to be a sponsor of the Evidence Based Chiropractor. Rocktape offers the world's best kinesiology tape, pain relief, topicals, mobility tools and functional fitness accessories. New from Rock Tape is Rocksauce Chill, a powerfully cool pain relief topical in a convenient roll on with 6% menthol. It's stronger than the freeze competition. They are more than a tape company, they are a movement company. Learn more and get access to your medical discount by visiting rocktape.com so as a listener of the Evidence Based Chiropractor podcast, I will ask one thing of you. When you have a moment, please give us a rating. Give us a review on itunes. It helps get us out to more and more chiropractors and we will be here each and every Monday morning to give you marketing, research and tactical tools in the time it takes to get to your office. So when you have a moment go to itunes and give us a rating. Give me some feedback or you can even shoot me an email directly. Jeff the evidencebasedchiropractor.com so as I said today we're going to talk about some pretty cool stuff. So all members of the Evidence Based Chiropractor each and every month they get the latest peer reviewed piece of research. They get a single PDF of really high quality research related to chiropractic care delivered to their inbox that they can share with other providers. This is the foundation, one of the three foundations on how to build referral relationships with other providers. If you're looking to grow your practice, there is no better way to do it than through interdisciplinary referrals and building that relationship. To check out more about that, just find us@the evidencebasedchiropractor.com and you'll see all the tools, A to Z that we give you to get started. And there have been docs that have doubled, tripled, quadrupled their incoming referrals as a result of building relationships with medical doctors. But if you just want to keep up to date with the research on your own, there's a few simple tools that you can use to to get you 90% of the way there. And we're going to go through them on today's episode. The number one tool that you can use to build your research library is pubmed. P U B M E D dot com. We probably all remember that from school, and we probably erased it from our minds very shortly afterward. But Pubmed.com is one of the best research repositories in the world. It houses journals of all types, of all creeds, and from all countries in a very centralized place. So if you go to pubmed.com they have some awesome tools that are completely free to get you started building your research library. So when you go to pubmed.com, you can click under the search bar, you'll see a very big search bar. It's very familiar, it looks very Google ish. And right underneath it there'll be a tab that says advanced. All you have to do is click the advanced tab and that will bring you to a new screen. And that screen again is very simplified. It's very stripped down, it's very straightforward. And that new screen will ask you for specific search terms to build your own custom search. So here's what that means. When you click on pubmed.com and then when you click on advanced, you, you will see a few tabs that showcase where you can type in exactly the keywords that you would like for a search. For instance, they may be chiropractic, they may be chiropractic care, it might be spinal manipulation, it might be adjustment, it might be kinesio tape, it might be rock tape, it could be any of those key search terms. You're at your heart's discretion, you can run wild with it. And when you enter in those search terms, you can create a custom search that then will be divvied out to your inbox either at the time the article is published weekly, quarterly, monthly or yearly. So PubMed gives you an unbelievable amount of flexibility to generate your personal research stash. And again go to pubmed.com, click on advanced and then you can put in your specific keyword searches. And at that time it will then ask you when you would like to be notified of any research papers that touch on those keywords. So for me personally, I get new research delivered to my inbox every Monday morning. So every Monday morning I can wake up. I already know that pubmed's gonna have sent me a couple emails regarding some specific keywords that I am looking for in the latest literature and you can do the same thing. Another awesome tool out there is the aforementioned Google Search. So Google Search also enables you to put in some key keywords and then have an updated list of new search terms or new search items in accordance with that criteria delivered to your inbox as well. The challenge is it's not 100% research based, of course. So when you search and you use search terms again, such as, let's say chiropractic, chiropractic care, you're gon get a lot of press releases from varying chiropractors with new offices and new satellite locations. But it's a really great way. It hits all the research, but it's also a really great way to keep your finger on the pulse of what's going on in the chiropractic community, news wise. So if you set up a Google automated, automated Google search for any of the keywords again that you desire related to chiropractic or anything else you're interested in, you, you can have that also sent to you at any interval you choose, which is a great opportunity to get personalized customized search results delivered straight to you on a very cyclical basis. So I highly recommend you do that. Those are my two huge key tools that far too many chiropractors underutilized to build their research base, to build their knowledge, and to keep up to date with the latest in musculoskeletal care. I'm gonna touch on two other websites that I think are extremely important in terms of keeping up to date. One of them is Becker's spine. So Becker's spine, it is more orthopedic, it's more hospital surgical based. They don't do a lot with chiropractic care, I'll readily admit that. But Becker's is a great place to really stay up to date on the world of spine care at large. So they place a lot, they're basically almost like a spine medial company. So they're going to touch on spinal implants, surgical, non surgical, interventional spine and everything in between. Everything from financials, mergers and acquisitions to new practices, to evidence based guidelines, anything in between. So Becker is a great place to keep up to date on a wider spectrum of spine news and happenings. And finally there's of course Medscape, Medscape Orthopedics, Medscape Spine is another fantastic resource that tends to have some overlap with Becker, but it does have a slightly different slant where they don't do as much on the financials on much as the mergers and acquisitions or new technologies, but they focus a little bit more towards the research. So Medscape Orthopedics, Medscape Spine is a fantastic resource again to get your wider scope news and information regarding the greater world of of spine care. So as I touched on at the top, many chiropractors and many of you listening today as well, you trust the evidence based chiropractor and I thank you. You trust the evidence based chiropractor to deliver the latest in chiropractic news, updates and research to you each and every month. And that's what our members get. We have members spread across four continents. We've had hundreds of chiropractors work with us throughout the years. And all of our members, in addition to the members volume, in addition to all the video modules, in addition to the book, in addition to the implementation, the core of what they are after are actionable tools to build their practice. And there's no better thing that you can have than a solid piece of research to do that. That not only gives you better confidence that you can transmit to your patients, answer questions with more accuracy and practice more confidently each and every day, but it also gives you the opportunity to build those referral relationships with other providers in your community. Imagine your practice if you had 24688 more incoming referrals per week or per month than you have today. And that's what many members of the evidence based chiropractor are realizing. So if you'd like to check that out, you can go to the evidencebasedchiropractor.com we also have a bunch of free tools, the MD meeting, five secrets to MD referrals and a variety of other free tools so you can get a taste of what we are about. And again I will ask you if you have the opportunity, please go onto itunes, give us a rating. Give us a review. It's how we spread the news about chiropractic it's how we we spread the news about Great tips, great research, and great marketing to better build your chiropractic practice. So I hope you have a fantastic week in practice Doc, and I'll talk to you soon.
