In this 10‑minute talk, life‑coach Jennifer Dent‑Brown addresses the Luxx community about low‑carb and keto diets. She acknowledges that low‑carb/keto can produce rapid physical weight loss, especially for those who previously ate many carbs, and she praises the quick‑win results many women report. However, she warns that simply swapping foods does not guarantee lasting change because emotional eating and over‑consumption can still occur. She defines emotional eating as eating when not physically hungry, driven by feelings, and explains how this can lead to plateaus or weight regain even on keto. Dent‑Brown emphasizes that lasting transformation requires a mental shift: identifying triggers, addressing underlying emotions, and changing the over‑consumption mindset that also applies to alcohol or spending. She promotes her “Stop Dieting Forever” coaching approach, which focuses on mindset work rather than just diet changes, and offers free 60‑minute strategy calls for women who want personalized help.

Good morning, Luxx community. I got a question for you. First of all, I'm Jennifer Dent-Brown. I am a life coach and I help women learn to stop dieting forever. Now, I do have a question for you. Are you following the low-carb craze and is the low-carb diet right for you? So, I get messages, DMs from women all the time who are like, "I just lost 20 pounds." or I'm down 50 pounds and I'm like, great, what did you do? What are you doing to get the weight off? And I would say 98% of them are doing low carb or doing like something like keto. And I'm like, that is great, right? I don't have anything terrible to say about a low carb diet or a keto diet. And if that is working for you, to lose the weight, great, right? Because eating low-carb, eating the keto lifestyle does have the ability to transform, physically transform your body. But here's my question to you. What are you doing to transform your mind, right? You are simply changing your actions with this new diet, right? So instead of eating Strohman's white bread, you're now eating keto bread, right? Or low-carb bread. Instead of eating cookies, you're now eating the keto cookies or keto bars, right? Just because you're switching your diet to keto does not— or low-carb— does not mean that you're not still going to overconsume the foods that you're eating, right? And we know anytime you're overconsuming food, over-consuming calories, you're going to keep the weight on. So I'm going to ask you again, yes, keto, low-carb lifestyle can certainly, absolutely, definitely physically change your body, especially if you have been a carboholic and all of a sudden you stop eating the carbs. You absolutely will quickly lose weight and you will get that quick win and you're like, yes, But I want you to be forewarned, there is a possibility that you could hit a plateau. And one of the things I want you to look at if you're in that situation where you lost a bunch of weight very quickly and now you're like stuck, I want you to ask yourself, are you eating too much food? Right? Just because you switched the type of food that you're eating doesn't mean that you have thought about the emotional transformation that is causing you to overeat the food, right? If you watch my video, my livestream a couple of whatever ago, go back and watch it if you can. But I asked the question, are you an emotional eater? And I went through how you will know if you're an emotional eater. Very simply, you're an emotional eater if you're eating food and you're not physically hungry. Period. You're an emotional eater if you're eating food and you're not physically hungry, right? There is some type of emotion driving that urge and that desire to eat. So you can eat keto and low carb all you want, but if you find yourself at 9:00 PM going downstairs in the freezer to get your keto ice cream, and then that is a clue that you are eating from emotions. And anytime you're going to be eating from emotions, you have the potential to overconsume calories. And you are going to stall out your weight loss or you're going to continue to gain weight, which is counterproductive. So what I do as a life coach, right, and I teach my women how to stop dieting forever, we don't just look at changing the foods that we're eating, right? We look at what is causing us to eat. We look at all the areas in our lives that are causing us to look for food or look for alcohol to feel better. And when you can get to the core of those situations and you can get to the core and really understand the circumstances and the triggers which cause you to overeat, overdrink, some of us overspend, right? We are in this overconsumption mindset. Then you can begin to make different choices, and those different choices will, will result in weight loss. So my question to you is, if your body is physically transformed from your low-carb or your keto diet, great, but what are you doing to transform your mind? If you want to talk a little bit more about your particular situation, I do 60-minute free Stop Dieting Forever strategy calls. I would be more than happy to talk to you about what you're doing now and what your goal is. So if you're interested in scheduling one, send me a message and I'll get you on my calendar.
