Jennifer Dent-Brown explains why asking "Should I eat this?" keeps you stuck. Real weight loss comes from understanding your body's signals and triggers, not following preset plans like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. She teaches the Stop Dieting Forever process: identify your thoughts about food, reconnect with hunger cues, and recognize that genetics and stress shape your unique pathway.

Right, Facebook says I am live. All right, I am live on Facebook. All right, y'all. Hey! Hey, let me turn my phone down. It's Thursday, it's time for another Jennifer Live. If you're watching live, go ahead and say hello in the comments. This is when I answer your questions that you all send to me via DM on or you email them to me, um, or it's something that is happening, or a theme that I see that is happening within the community in the Stop Dieting Forever community. So that's actually what I want to talk about today. So for those of you who are new to me, and I'm just checking the chat, see who is live. We got a couple people watching. Hello, people watching out there. If you're watching the replay, go ahead and type in hello and I will respond to you as well. But for those of you who are new to me and don't know what this is, I am Jennifer Dent-Brown. I am a certified life and weight loss coach and I help women learn to stop dieting forever. And this is when I go live. I'm doing it now about twice a month, um, where I answer— I spend about 10-15 minutes answering the questions that you guys have for me about weight loss, about my program, about my process. So I will always, always, always answer these questions as it relates to the Stop Dieting Forever process. This is the process that I have taught hundreds of women how to lose weight, and this is the process that I have followed myself. Hey Liz! And with this process, or with answering these questions, I will always again give it— answer the questions through the filter of the process because this is the process that you will use to learn how to lose weight for the last time. It is unlike any other weight loss program where they just teach you what to eat, how much to eat, when to eat. I'm teaching you how to think. Hey, Sharla. And so this is actually what I wanted to talk about today, this question that I received that came through, um, in my group. So we're in the middle of doing the recommitment challenge, a 4-day recommitment challenge within the Stop Dieting Forever membership. And one of the questions that came through— actually, not one, but a lot of the people were asking, like, Should I eat this? Should I not eat this? Because part of the 4-day recommitment challenge is a clean eating detox. So we're following a clean eating protocol, and there were a lot of questions like, can I eat this? Can I eat it? I'm not eat this, but I don't like this. If I don't eat this, is it gonna mess something up? And I was just like, stop, pause, hold on, right? A lot of us follow or join traditional diet programs— Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, LA Weight Loss, all the things, all of the diet books, right? We follow those programs because they tell us exactly what to eat and when and how much to eat. And so our brains get so wrapped up in following the plans in order to create this weight loss result. That's what we're trying to do. But what we're missing— and yes, that can work temporarily for sure. I did LA Weight Loss, I did Jenny Craig, I did LA Weight Loss, I did, um, Weight Watchers, right? I followed all of those programs and I would always have a little bit of success. It was never permanent success. And so what I have come to know is that following a plan is easy. Following a, uh, just a cookie-cutter plan to lose weight is easy. And yes, you can create a weight loss result with just following a plan for most of us, right? But it is a temporary weight loss result. What I'm teaching you is how to create permanent weight loss, how to get off of the weight loss struggle bus. So I am teaching you in the Stop Dieting Forever process How to think. Okay, how to think. And you're like, wait a second, what does thinking have to do with weight loss? Again, it's easy to follow a plan, but what you don't know how to do and what traditional diets don't teach you how to do is how to ask the questions about— ask, first of all, to know what questions to ask yourself. How is this feeling in my body? We don't even know what feeling in my body is, right? Are these foods making me feel better? Are they making me feel worse? Are these helpful thoughts that I'm having about food and, and, and, and my meals and prepping and weighing in— are these helpful thoughts? Are these hindering thoughts? We don't take the time to understand how our specific unique bodies loses weight. We don't understand it. We think, well, this plan worked for her, so it must— it has to work for me. It's not that plan that is going to create the weight loss. For years I thought I just need to follow— find the right diet, I just need to find the right thing, the right exercise program, and then I'll be able to like lose the weight and keep it off. It's not the plan, y'all, that is going to cause the weight loss result. Okay, the permanent weight loss result. What you want to do is understand what works for you. And this is, again, if you've heard me talk about creating your 2.0 self, this is what you're doing as you're learning your body, your thoughts, your triggers, your eating patterns, all your habits. You're learning about you. So I am teaching you how to learn these things about yourself. So I thought about this analogy, right, of being in school. So we follow these plans, right, these generic diet plans, like just tell me what to eat every single day, I'll eat it, and then hopefully I'll lose weight. We follow those plans. So I thought about it in school. It's like if you were in 3rd grade and 4th grade and somebody just kept giving you the answers to all the tests and you never actually learned how to count money. Because somebody just gave you all the answers to the test. You were like, oh, these are the answers, okay. So you graduate, right? You graduate, you've passed all the tests, you have a temporary result because you were able to pass those, those tests because somebody just feeded you— fed you— feeded you— fed you the answers, and you learn how to count money. But get out into the real world where you don't have someone feeding you answers to a test and you have to count money. I just— this thought, this analogy came up because I have my best friend's kids are now working at McDonald's for fast food for the first time. And I worked at McDonald's, that was my first job, and I remember like having to count the change. Actually, now probably the machines The cash registers probably tell you exactly how much to give back. But when I was like working as a 15-year-old at McDonald's, we had to like— somebody gave us a $20, we had to do some math, like count, do some math and give them back the exact change, right? What if no one— what if I didn't actually learn how to count money and someone was just giving me the answers to the test and I get to this job and I don't know how to count money? It's the same thing with weight loss, y'all, right? These diet programs, these diet plans, they feed you what you think you need to know about losing weight. You have a temporary result, but then you go on to graduate, right? You go out into the real world. So in, in our life, that's like life gets lifey. Circumstances happen, you're stressed out, someone in your family passes, you have a new job, you go through divorce. Like, life gets lifey. The stress triggers are happening and you don't know how to manage your thoughts. You don't know what your thoughts are in the first place. You don't know what to eat to make your body feel good. You're just going off and eating off of emotions, right? So that did not work for you, did not graduate, and you're not able to, um, live in the world and, and follow your own intuition because you don't know what that is. You haven't learned it yet. So within the Stop Dieting Forever process, it's real simple. I break down how you understand all of your triggers, what are the thoughts that are causing them. We do this in the very first week, okay? And then I teach you like how to get back in touch with your physical body because look, your body is like craving for you to feed it energetic foods. Your body is craving for you to take care of it and treat it like it's the most important thing on this earth, because it really is. But we're so disconnected from our bodies, we're so used to just operating feeling less than, right? Feeling a little bloated, a little, a little achy, a little bit of a headache. Like, we're just used to operating that way. We don't even know what feeling good feels like anymore. More. So you will rediscover that within the Stop Dieting Forever process. So when you, when you have this thought of like, oh, should I eat this, shouldn't I eat this, and you're confused about what to eat, stop the confusion and understand that you need to learn what your body wants. You need to learn your own specific patterns and habits. Also, you will learn about— in my process, I teach this thing called bio-individuality, which is There is no cookie-cutter one way that everybody loses weight, right? Your weight loss, the rate of— the rate in which you lose weight, how will you lose weight, the foods in which you consume, all of those things are different for every single body. And it depends on so many things within your body. It depends on genetics and your life circumstances, the amount of stress in your life. Um, food sensitivities. Like, there's so many different things that go into how your body loses weight. I teach you how to understand what that is for you, okay? You're not gonna learn this anywhere else. So if this is something that you're interested in learning more about, you're like, I'm tired of the quick fixes, I want a permanent fix to my weight loss problem, then I want you to go to jenniferdent.com/bootcamp. B-O-O-T-C-A-M-P, and get your name on the waiting list. The 2.0 version of the Stop Dieting Forever membership is opening in August, on August 8th. So you want to make sure your name is on the list so you get all of the pre-regis— and pre-enrollment information. Okay, um, and that's it. If you guys have any questions, I do this twice a month. Send me an email, send me a DM. I'm happy to answer them. And also just go through the page. I've answered a bunch of them already, and then maybe one that you have, like, oh, she's already answered that question, let me go back and watch that video. All right, have an amazing rest of your day. And if you're watching the replay, just type replay in the comments so I can like give you a little wave, a little shout out. And I will see you next time. Bye!
