Spiritual focus works like a muscle. When you hold attention on Scripture, your flesh resists and creates spiritual shaking, but persistence strengthens your ability to engage deeply with truth. Modern convenience discourages this discipline, yet the pathways to God remain ancient and unchanging.
Chapters
You ever notice that when you go to focus on the Word, your flesh begins to pull you in another direction? Treat focus like it's a muscle. I call it your focus muscle, and you hold your attention. And as you're holding your attention, you will feel your soul begin to shake to get out of it because you're holding now your focus on the truth. The more you do that, the stronger your focus becomes. The more often you do this, the longer you'll be able to hold your eye, your mind on the truth. And you'll notice too, when you're done focusing, you feel almost like this relief. It's because that is like a spiritual muscle that many of us are not exercising because of the convenience of the modern world. And these ancient pathways into the presence of God, these ancient pathways into the knowledge of truth, are not going to be modernized. God doesn't change. His word doesn't change. Spiritual dynamics don't change. Right. As you meditate on the word, you're holding your attention on the scripture.
