The episode also touches on upcoming projects related to healing and personal growth.
Would you like to know the highest high that Brittany Turner's ever had? You're gonna find out in this episode. Brittany, I'm gonna do my best to never hurt your feelings again. Don't do it. And if I did, and you had to heal from me hurting your feelings, would you ever use plant medicine to heal from such a journey?
I would have to, 'cause you hurt my feelings so bad by not telling me you sold real life trading. I'm actually, I'm hurt. I'm hurt.
It's okay.
We were closer than this.
Love you.
I'm going to withhold some big secret from you and then blast it. Yeah. Season seven. Yes, exactly.
I had another kid.
That kid didn't tell you. Too bad.
Jesus, Devin, that's why I find out.
You'll all know. You would all know.
I will say this. I've done plant medicine, but let me give you a quick take. This is an interesting one. Before we go really into it and just talk openly about it.
You think they're ready though?
Yeah, people are ready. They're excited. I asked a guy, who was very much into the self-development space, guru space, mental space. I was like, Hey man, what do you think about plant-based medicine? And he goes, Medicines for people who are sick. So he goes, if you need something because you have some sickness, it's great. But if you take it recreationally, very different. It's a whole different thing.
Totally different.
And that was interesting when he said, Hey, it is a medicine. It can heal you if you have trauma, if you are sick, if you need to see a doctor, what better doctor than Earth? But ultimately, if you're using it just because you want to escape and you think your life is hard and you want to kind of relax at night, and so you're always doing drugs to escape, it's two totally different paradigms. Would you agree to that?
I would absolutely agree. As somebody who has never done any psychedelics or plant medicine, or drugs, period, recreationally, I don't really know what that experience is like. And so that would be very foreign to me. And I don't know, something I've never been interested in. And, you know, I had a- Never.
Like you were never like curious about it.
Honestly, at 12, people, there's a piece of my story I never talked about. Oh. But I had an out-of-body experience at 12, which I don't even know what the heck an out-of-body experience was. Right. and I felt the presence of God and there is no higher high than the all consuming love of God in every single molecule of your body. And it was so beautiful and experiential and like it changed my entire life that I've never been interested in just doing a drug. And so, I don't know if that was like my pro tip.
Yeah.
But, but when it comes to plant medicine, We're gonna talk about it today and we're ready, haters. We know you're out there. But don't be close minded because I am not somebody that's ever been willing to even think about exploring something like this because I just labeled it as freaking druggies. I just did. And so we got into Heal the Heroes, which is our healing program for veterans and first responders.
So remarkable.
And everybody in their mom was like, what about ayahuasca? What do you think about ayahuasca? What do you think about this? What do you think about that? I didn't have an opinion on it, but I've heard over and over again how healing some of these experiences could be for these soldiers and, and warriors and heroes. And Jeremy and I are very, very interested and open to learning what can help serve these men and women who come to us hungry and really needing something to help them want to live. Many times they are extremely suicidal. And so we're not going to turn something away that we're hearing is working. And before I tell people, no, just because it to me, we said, let's go try it very quietly. Let's not announce it, but let's go somewhere that it is legal and let's do this experience. And, and it was actually one of the most impactful things I've ever done in my whole life. Uh, he tried ayahuasca and I tried psilocybin and, again, I can't even tell you how judgy I was before the experience and just like, oh, my heart.
Was just like, I'm gonna pause it for a second. Let's stay in that. The, the judginess. Yes. So judge people like you, but that, but the experience of what you were doing, like, why were you judging?
I never wanted to be somebody that did a drug. And obviously before we even went down there, we started studying, like, the different types of things. Why would somebody do this? What does it help with? What are the risks? What are the kinds of. how does it work in your body? What is this? Because I've never even looked into it. I've been so busy my whole life, I don't have time for this. And so understanding it was really helpful and where it came from, why it works, what does it do. And I've been able to witness a different level of healing in specifically veterans that we work with. You just get a different perspective on life. And the best I can explain it in a Therapeutic healing setting and intention is you, gosh, each journey is different, I think. It really is, but it takes you out of this perspective. And what I at least went through is got to see my whole life with a totally different view. And I, with my own hands, with like a giant knitting needle, got to sew up parts of my heart. I didn't even know were broken. It was, it was so profound. And so what I'll share on this podcast, I'm going to go through my whole experience is if there are things you just can't reset in your mind, like we're talking about, if healing really is taking it from this box of pain and moving into this box of purpose, if there's things that you're struggling with, look into these things. If you, are if you're bipolar, I don't think it's something that you can do. I think there's certain types of plant medicines you definitely can't and shouldn't do for some way it reacts with the brain for whatever reason. I'm not an expert at all, but there are people who are experts that can guide you into thinking through what kind of experience would be right for the healing you're searching for. But it's not something, like I said, I'm willing to do on the island or, or wanting to do myself right now and really promote because I don't fully understand it. I don't understand it fully spiritually. I understand it fully scientifically, but I have, I don't understand how planes work.
I don't understand how cell phones work.
But I do know they work. And when you are searching and you are desperate to find a different perspective on your life, that is something that I'm seeing working really well for people who are just seeking that healing. We had somebody on our team that just got blessed. He looked like the most angry person in the world every day on the team meetings. And he went on one of these retreats for veterans. Um, gosh, what did he do? I can't remember which one he did. And he came back and he looked like Jesus. One of the team members were like, man, you were looking real murdery right before you left, but you have a totally different entire essence and energy about who you are and showing up to the table.
Yeah.
He's a different person from just a few days of going through that. And so, again, it really is just soul searching. for you again, in my experience, to see what needs to go. I've seen people that have been addicts for 30 years, break it off in one day and never been interested in it again, alcohol, all kinds of stuff. So yeah, what's been your experience with it?
Yeah, it's a great question. And I think for me, I'll say this, you're absolutely right. I heard you say the word study. Study this, people.
Like, learn, understand.
Don't go into something totally blind, hoping for an amazing transformational experience, because there can be negative situations and circumstances that can arise. I'm the Michael Phelps of psilocybin, so I'm retired.
Oh, gosh.
Yeah, I'm retired, but I have my gold medals.
But did you do it in a therapeutic healing setting, or were you doing all recreation?
I did all the settings, all the ability.
I did all of them. Was it for healing?
I didn't know at the time, but it does eventually heal you.
Right?
I mean, because it reveals the truth is with plant medicine, plant medicine will reveal to you what you need healed. And very, very often it can also do the healing, but that's only if you're ready for it and you know that you need it. So for me, I think that they're. And to, to Brittany's point, Brittany has done so much external work. you have done so much healing. You've gone through all of so many exercises, right? And working with people and understanding and reading and books and pouring into devotion and prayer and silent retreats that you've hosted on the island. Like you've done a lot of work before exploring that route.
Oh yeah, yeah.
And I will tell people that's really the approach is go and spend time on yourself, with yourself, before yourself. for yourself before you go explore this journey. Because my take is this very often, if you start engaging in plant-based medicine, plant-based medicine will get you exactly where you want to go, but you'll never be able to go to the same place twice. And it is a very, very difficult bridge because when you go there and then when you return, that bridge gets burned forever and the bridge is no longer existence. So you can't go back to that exact same experience. That's very often what people will get stuck in a loop. They'll get stuck in a loop because they want to go back to that exact same amazing experience and they never can. However, if you do a lot of breath work, if you do a lot of meditation, if you do a lot of the inner peace journey, the writing, the sitting down with yourself, there's other.
Ways to process things, what you're saying.
Tons of other ways to process it. You can go back to the exact same experience. You can have the exact same feeling. You can do all that. You can replicate that very, very frequently. But doing it from an ayahuasca standpoint or a bufo standpoint, those can easily be abused as well. and a lot of people will go into it with the expectation of, all I have to do is just this one thing and I'm healed for the rest of my life. You might be, but it's extremely rare.
Just for the record, people are not usually abusing freaking ayahuasca or bufo as like an addiction at all. But I would say the way he's contextually using it is to believe that this one thing will fix you when a thing can't fix you. It is always us. that has to continue the commitment to our healing journey. There can be tools that are helpful, just like plowing a field with a tractor versus a shovel. It's going to be faster, but yes, it's still you holding that tool. Yeah, exactly.
And what's amazing is there's a really great book by a guy named Dr. Bruce Lipton. I believe the book is called Biology of Belief. And what he's going through in this book is he said the reason that medicine, plant-based medicine, or drugs inside of a hospital, right? Like the reason that these chemicals work is because we have to have receptors in our brain for them. And like DMT, which is called the God Particle, like there's so many different drugs that people will take, heroin, right? THC, all of these receptors are already in our brain. So an example, like if you go to sleep and you have a deep sleep, you just wake up, what the heck? Where did seven hours go by? that type of deep sleep, that's what they're doing when they put you under, right? When you go to do a surgery, they tap into that receptor and then just crank it on. They just turn it on. If you have the receptors for all the different types of medicine and drugs and things of that nature, we all have them. Like humans naturally have them. So it's an extremely natural process is when you're ingesting and taking, let's call it psilocybin. The reason that it works so well is because we have the designed receptors in our brains to receive it anyway. Meaning it's perfectly natural. It's okay. It's reasonable. But that's the reason that it works. And some people like me, I have really, really good receptors for certain ones. So I can never do THC ever again because my THC receptor is really good. And so if I ingest or interact with marijuana, it's a whole different ball game for me than it is for most people.
Right?
Most people do it recreationally, they have a good time, it'll put them in for like five days. I'll be comatose, like ICU, like level, can't do anything. But the point, I had to find that out one way, right? So I found that out and I had to explore that journey and I had to understand the plant-based journey that a lot of people go on. If you do it from a healing perspective, it's so much better. It's so much more enjoyable. You get so much more impact, you get so much more healing. And I truly believe that one of the best ways to interact with a feeling of God is to interact with psilocybin at some point in your life, even if you just do it once and once a lot of times is all you need. You will and can experience and interact with the vibration, the frequency, the energy of what people would feel or know as God when you do psilocybin.
Which is crazy. Now, what I don't like that you just did is you mix freaking heroin and cocaine and all these things into what we're trying to say is like healing methods over here just for the record, because we're, we're recording. Yeah. We are not telling you guys to go do a bunch of drugs. We are saying that there are breakthroughs in science. There's breakthroughs in healings, there's breakthroughs in therapies. And it is worth looking into it. How can you start? Again, I'm never gonna tell somebody to go do something recreationally. I just think that's, you're not a pro. You don't know what you're doing. You can get really hurt. Yeah. Depending on your receptors. But- Exactly. There are some people who are professionals that can that can walk you through different processes to help you heal. And the big thing, I've only done the one thing, you know, and it, that different perspective on my life has totally transformed the way I go about everything. I mean, I, I'll share, give one share. It, as I watched my entire life go by, which was really interesting to see, there's this one place in high school or sitting on the bleachers, and I guess something happened that I, I always thought like I was wrong because I was such a different girl. I've always been such a different girl. I never cared about the shoes and I never wanted to be a boy, but I never fit in the box of the basic normal girl, at least in South Carolina in high school where everybody was this just dainty flower person. And I thought in my heart always that I was wrong. I was fundamentally broken in my very essence. And in this experience, I saw God made me as this warrior, feminine, divine. And it was like a totally different person, type of person brought to earth to do different things, to break through barriers that females have never been through. And it's not like I think I'm so incredible, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But that was what I saw in the vision was not that I was broken, but that I was beautifully and wonderfully made for something different. and that level of acceptance was so-- I mean, what if you just walk around every day believing you're fundamentally broken? And so-- especially subconscious. Oh, my God. I had no idea that it was-- I would never have actually consciously known that there was an experience in high school that made me believe something like that that has carried with me my whole life. And so there's some really cool perspectives that I've seen people go through and our operators have actually watched it with the kind of darkness that they have gone through and, you know, suicidal thoughts, like I've said many times, they don't go away. They just, you get better tools at beating them. And when some of our operators I've seen just go through darkness after darkness and their own childhood trauma and, I mean, war, war, war, everything has just been such a painful life for them. They can't get past it and they've been trained to bottle it so much that I've watched these treatments save their life. And again, I'm not, I've never talked about this publicly as my very first time. Never put it on any platform.
Season six.
But it has been a really cool thing to start learning about and something that we wanna keep learning about because we are committed to this journey of healing. Yeah. And, and learning the pros and cons. Cause there's definitely pros and cons. And I actually got, as I, if you're the gold medalist of psilocybin and I've done it once. It was really interesting for me to hear plant medicine will reveal what you need to heal because that's exactly what it did. That's exactly what it did. And I also, gosh, it just got to really, I feel like I did get to understand God at a different level, which was interesting. I did not expect it to be a God experience.
No, most people don't.
I did not, but there's something worth exploring there.
Some fun research for our amazing listeners. There's a great documentary on Netflix called Fantastic Fungi.
Oh.
And it goes through and describes and just discusses like mushrooms, but not necessarily only psilocybin mushrooms. It goes through all the different types of mushrooms. Like it's obviously people can eat mushrooms and it just discusses in a really, really unique and educational way how fungi is, how it works, what the fungus is. It's really, really fascinating stuff. But one of the things that you're gonna like about this is the bottom of a fungi looks exactly like a brain's network.
Yes.
It is.
Yeah.
Yes, it's so cool, so bizarre. And they mentioned that all of the fungus on this earth is connected under the earth. And there's this giant network. And when you zoom out, that network looks again like the human brain. And it's just so wild to think. Now again, you start challenging long-held beliefs and it's gonna poke some holes in some things that you might have thought.
It's crazy how it's all connected and how it's just the infinite with the finite. Like it's just so, there's another one that this is the one we watched before we went and it was How to Change youe Mind. That's another one. There's a bunch of different, it goes through all the different types of psychedelics, where they came from, pros and cons, how they've been used, Historically, how they're being used now, how they took things like that could be really dangerous in party settings and turn them into something that's legal to be used and administered by doctors. And so, yeah, just worth looking into. It is the future, guys. Um, it's actually one of the number one travel trends in the whole world right now. Oh, it's huge.
People traveling to Costa Rica, yeah, yeah. Republic for ayahuasca retreats.
Mm-. Just these kind of healing journeys, people are, and when it shows me, because I actually tried to do the ayahuasca and I threw it up immediately and they said, you,'re not ready, the medicine knows. And I was like, the fact that you can die from ayahuasca, I was not willing to die. I didn't have a kid at the time, but all I could think about was all these ponies aren't going to have anybody to make sure they're taken care of. And so I was not, I'm not going to risk my life for an experience. And I just wasn't. I didn't need the healing that bad personally. But what I'll tell you is what I'm seeing beyond this trend.
Yeah, tell me. That'd be fantastic.
Is the hunger for healing, the hunger for healing. People really, really want more. And they're tired of all the should in their life. They're tired of this baggage. They need to move forward because I think in their souls they know that there's more and they're willing to do whatever it takes.
You know what would be cool? What if we had an event on the island called Heal one day?
I would say that's in the works, sir.
Fun, right?
Want to talk about that more in the next episode?
Yes, we do.
