Brittney emphasizes: (1) give first / serve others, (2) learn to work and learn rather than only earn, and (3) create value so others keep you around; she illustrates with mentorship and real-estate anecdotes. Jerremy echoes similar principles: provide value, focus on the numbers, and make daily consistent progress. The episode closes by teasing further discussion of Brittney's real-estate deals.

Welcome to the Broke to Woke podcast. Our mission for this podcast is to help each and every person out there in the world not only become a force for good, but also uncover those micro magical mental moments that help you become an absolute cerebral pyromaniac. All right, my beautiful human beings, if you are still watching this, you're still listening to this. Thank you for your time and your energy and your devotion. This is the Broke to Woke podcast. And in this episode, we're going to be sharing both some really powerful journeys and stories, but we're also going to be giving you our top three big takeaways up to the career and to the standpoint where we are in our life. And Brittany's are amazing. Mine are okay. But it's going to be a really great journey. You're going to love hearing our top three takeaways. Make sure you listen to the entire thing. Stay tuned. Thank you for watching and listening. Here's what we got. Brand new episode. You and I are going to be talking in this particular one about some mistakes and things that you have learned that we have learned. So what we're doing is we're coming back to. You're doing your four flips, right? Your four. You're investing, reinvesting that $40,000, which is such a baller move. But before that, give me three big takeaways, lessons you've learned up until this point that are just crucial, that are impacted.
Oh, my gosh. I'd learned so many. But number one would be to give first.
Okay.
Number two is to work, to learn, not just to earn. And number three is find a way to create value and people will keep you around. That's been a huge part of my life. It still is. And what I've learned is you can't really pay the people you want to learn from enough money for it to be valuable to them. But if you want to learn from someone, then it means you are on board and in line with their vision. I mean, you're obviously tracking. This is how I've found all of my mentors. So I find somebody I want to be like, and then I say, how can I serve their purpose? There's no manipulation. There's no nothing. Obviously, they want them to be my mentor because we're going the same way. So I figure out a way to serve them, and they keep me around. So with the guys who were teaching me how to flip houses, Polly and Dr. Phil, he wouldn't even tell me. And I would ask over and over again, part of being homeschooled My mom said you're not allowed to go to anybody's house unless you ask their mom six times how you can help. And I'm gonna ask Ms. Stewart.
Oh, wow.
If you actually asked her, if you didn't, you're not allowed to go back over there. Wow. So we always wanted to hang out with other people.
Mom Turner.
Ye. My mom's amazing. I consistently ask, how can I help? How can I help? How can I help? And this guy, no, you can't. Blah, blah, blah. So again, finding ways to create value by listening to the gaps. I think a lot of people miss out on having an incredible network because they're just thinking about themself. It's easy to do when you're in a survival mindset. That's why give first was such an important lesson for me. Because no matter what's going on in your life, you have to find a way to bless. The blessing probably won't come back from the person you blessed.
Right.
It's weird how it does come back into your life.
It will.
So for me, being around these people, I had different mentors in my life that allowed me to grow so fast. I had no formal education, but it was because I was around people who knew more than I did and I found ways for them to let me stay around them by serving them. So that's probably one of the best pieces of advice I can give people is no one owes you anything. Stop expecting people to just give you stuff because they don't have to. And the really high level people that you want to give you stuff won't. So if you find a way to bless them, being around them will bless you.
That could be the whole podcast, that section. I mean, that is truly valuable because it sounds, and you've mentioned this term before, and I like it. Woo woo. But it absolutely works. And give me one way that you can bless someone when you're working for someone. So give them an example. Let's say that you are working for a person. Xyz. What would be one way that you could do that?
Well, let's think how common sense it is.
Okay.
If you make my life easier, why would I want you not in my life?
Exactly.
If there's a high achiever, high performer, or somebody doing anything amazing that you respect, they're probably really busy. And so if you come in and you're like, you know what, Brittany, I noticed that you consistently have an issue with finding deals. And you brought me deals, I'm gonna keep you around. Especially if you're not like, now you owe me $180,000 a year because I deserve blah, blah, blah. But you just started bringing them. I'm gonna want to keep you around. I'm gonna find ways to incentivize you to stick correct versus you even asking correct. So if you were like, you know what, Bernie? I find out you don't have the best banking relationships. Here's seven new banks. And I already did the intro. And I put together this package. This is actually something I did. I put together a portfolio because they consistently had problems getting financing. So they'd always go to hard money lenders and these vulture rates. And we're paying like five points and 15%, which is nuts. But we could out earn it because we were fast.
Sure.
And I was like, I bet you instead of you having to wheel and deal.
I could do it for you if I just visually put together what you've done. Because you're amazing, but you're terrible at computers. Young people run with this. This is a really easy way for you to create value in people's lives is to create presentations to show what other businesses are capable of, to open more doors of opportunity for them.
Yes.
And that was like the one thing I had going for me. And I'm not even naturally good with computers because I didn't grow up around them. No technology. Thanks, mom and dad. But I figured it out. That's another really powerful lesson. I find most people have this amazing vision for their life, Amazing calling. But they hide behind the personality test. That's just not who I am. I'm an introvert. I'm an extrovert. Whatever it is. Tony Robbins, I love that he said that. He said, I used to be an introvert. He said, but then my vision required I have extrovert qualities. So guess what I did. Became an extrovert. Said, whatever it is that you need to become.
Become it.
That's it.
You're the only one. Nobody honestly gives a crap about your life that much. They really don't. So if you choose to hide behind. This isn't my natural tendency. Well, you naturally didn't walk either. You freaking had to figure it out. So at what point do you're like, I'm just a crawler. It's who I am. I'm sorry. You know, focus on your strengths. I'm a crawler. It's just me. No one cares. You want to crawl the rest of your life, Fine. You're not going to have the same opportunity with walkers, runners.
This is so Powerful.
So just get over yourself.
This is so good.
Suck it up. Deal with your insecurities and learn it right. Watch that movie that helps you get out of the lawsuit.
That's what it is.
It doesn't matter what you are. That's the thing. I have no formal education, but you throw me in any room, I'm going to figure it out. Why? Because nobody ever freaking bailed me out. That is one of the greatest gifts that my parents gave me. They never bailed me out. Honestly, I don't think they could have. But had I even had someone give me $500 when I was living in my car, I promise you, I promise you, I wouldn't be here today.
Right?
Because when you're at that level of desperation, a part of your brain opens up. I call it survival creativity. And it somehow just like, links to God. It's like, Bing, I have to figure this out or I'm going to die. Just like you said, the Korean mafia is going to knock me out if I don't figure this out. So that survival creativity turns on and says, it's a Christmas miracle. You know the answer. It's there somehow. And you know what? Even if you flop around into it, you're eventually going to get past this. So the reason I will succeed for the rest of my life, regardless of what happens, is because I'm willing to just continue learning and growing. That's the simple trick to success. People.
Guys. Ladies and gentlemen, that was incredible. Thank you. Nice little rant, by the way, but an extremely, extremely valuable one because all those tips and tricks are so compelling and easy. But hard. Easy in the sense that anyone can do them. Hard in the sense that it's going to take work and it's going to take a little bit of that survival creativity, which I love that phrase because if you're at work, you might not know. You might be afraid, you might be scared. But you're going to have to put yourself out of that comfort zone. You are going to have to change and become something a lot of people. One of my favorite excuses. Favorite excuses. I'm not good with names. It's like, all right, that's cool. You want them to be good with names. But figure out a way to get that. Get you in that room, understand who that person is. Write their name down. Ask their name. I've personally never been offended when someone says, can you remind me your name one more time? That doesn't offend me. Why would it? Because you're asking my name. I'm giving You a piece of information that's very valuable. So when you mentioned if you're a crawler and you're going to crawl through life, you don't know how to walk. You don't know how to walk, but you're gonna have to start taking those steps and you're gonna fall and it's gonna be painful and it's gonna be scary and unfortunate. You're gonna look so dumb. You will be laughed at and you will be judged and you will be ridiculed. And people are gonna say, no, say stop. People are gonna say quit. And you won't. If you have that vision, if you have that why, if you have that pull.
I think the. The underlying theme is it's a heart set. It's not even a mindset.
I've never heard that phrase before in my life.
It weirdly just came to me as we're talking. I'm not even kidding you. It's a heart set. It's the space in which you're coming from. Is it to serve or is it to take?
Okay.
And once that, like, God, let those three years of takerness burn off of me. So if you came to me and said, brittany, you just made a million dollars, I actually won't have an emotional reaction. If you came to me and said, brittany, you just lost $5 million, I still won't have an emotional reaction because I'm not emotionally tied to the thing. Thing. I'm emotionally tied to the cause. And even in the back of my mind and my heart, I know God will still work it out. If I'm doing my best every day, then it's going to eventually work out. And if I have enough people hating on me and enough people not believing on me and enough people turning on me and stabbing me in the back, I can always move somewhere bluer and warmer. Backup plan.
That's it.
Always move somewhere bluer and warmer. Who cares? There is nobody. I don't know. Whatever you believe, it doesn't matter. There's nobody that is gonna be accountable for your life but you at the end. So it doesn't even matter if it's your husband or wife. Like, there's nobody standing at the pearly gates or whatever you think and saying, like, what did you do with this precious gift? Yes, no one is gonna be there. So it's not between you and them. You gotta Noah's ark this ish.
That's such a great saying too.
One more important lesson is that there's always a way. It's become One of our core values. So doesn't matter how dead the dead end of the dead end of the dead end looks, There is always a way to get things done. Now, it may or may not be worth doing it, but my biggest problem with any staff member has been, nope, impossible. And I just look at him. I just look at him, I'm like, really?
Yeah.
And they're like, I know there's always a way. And so I'm like, if I have to get involved in this.
Yeah.
You come back and tell me how you would do it again. May not be worth doing it.
Yeah.
But if you refuse to quit looking for the answer, then you'll. Then you won't find it. But if you never stop until you wrestle that answer to the ground, you find it, and you go down that path, you will get it. The thing that most people. We're gonna go real deep here.
Here we go again.
Don't know what you believe. Don't really care. This is our story. If you truly believe that God is inside you, source, creator of the universe, and most people do, like, do you believe that God is inside you? What would you say?
I absolutely believe that.
Yeah. So the creator of the universe, knower of all things, past, present, and future, is inside of you. Do you think that that is really the answer? The knowledge of all things?
If it's within you, if you have that. If you have that peace, if you have that core, if you have that creation, if you have. Again, doesn't matter if you have the belief, but you should know that it's true. Right? You have that energy.
The answer is there has to be. And if you haven't found it, then there's probably something even greater that you need to discover that's gonna take you down an even greater path. So whenever you feel that irritation, just keep looking, keep looking, keep looking. And so that's what saved me on deals that have gone bad, contractors that have gone bad, relationships that have gone bad. Just being so terrified because I never. I never know what I'm doing. And it's a weird thing to confess on camera, but I freaking never know. I never know. I've never known. But it doesn't matter. I have to know everything up front. And that's one of those lessons again, something I see block everybody. They have to have it all figured out.
Yeah.
It has to be perfect.
Yeah.
How could you possibly assume you know everything? Or you could plan everything? Car accidents happen and change people's lives every day. Immediately, storms happen. So all you have to say Is whatever happens, I'm willing to figure it out and give my best and make sure to the best of my human ability, it's going to move forward. So I would love to hear your top three lessons learned in your journey up to this point.
I hope mine can be as powerful as yours. I'm sure they are. I hope they can. Because really, in a way, the power of the giving. I don't know exactly if I'm going to phrase it that way, but I would certainly say that the number one is you have to come at it at a space of, let me provide value to someone else. Right. It's going to be my number one rule, my number one takeaway for me. As I was growing my business, as I was growing my connections, I was trading better. What happened is I was trying to seek value for other people. So when I was trading, I would initially go, how much money can I make?
And when you approach something specifically trading or any other career, any other path from how much money can I make on this thing, on this endeavor, it becomes more of a challenge. Right? You start linking your emotions to money. You start linking everything on your beliefs about that money. So when I slowly started making it about the process, and I said, this is why I'm doing it.
Yeah, Right.
This is. This is my. This is my why, and this is the process, and this is the procedure of the trade, and whatever happens, happens. I don't know the actual end result. Everything started lining up and becoming much more clear and more easy, and I was able to trade more profitably. But it all has to start from how can I add that value? Because that was my why. So if I'm trying to create value and trying to add value, and I can start with that why? And then at that particular point in time, we're able to create and craft that identity of this is why I'm doing it.
Wow.
And you're able to make that shift.
That's huge.
Yeah. And then I would say the second one is all about be very focused on the numbers, because you can make anything happen mathematically if you need to.
Really?
Yeah.
Okay.
So be very focused on the numbers. That's a big takeaway because it could be debt, it could be money, it could be time, it can be relationships, it can be anything. But if. If numbers are right, math doesn't lie. And you can create that structure and you can create that certainty to figure out exactly what you need and how you need it and why you need it, and you can really block it all out. And make it all crystal clear with.
Your numbers so it takes the emotion out. It's purely results.
Yes.
Wow.
Yes. But also, again, it gives you those goals, it gives you those metrics. It gives you the idea that, yes, you can achieve that. And then number three is going to be do it every single day. Whatever it is that you're trying to do, you have to make those small tweaks, you have to make those small improvements. You have to make those small little leaps. You're gonna have to do it every single day. When I say every single day, like, do you mean my birthday? I mean your birthday. I mean Jesus birthday. Okay. I mean all the birthdays. Sundays. What about Sundays? Sundays, Saturdays, Mondays. Like, all of them.
Wait, you mean affect my work life balance.
That's right. What, every single day?
I mean, can I take vacation? No. No.
Don't you know what? Vacation is for a long time.
Right?
So those are my top three takeaways.
I love that. That's so good.
Thank you.
Oh, man.
All right, so now after this, I want to go into your deals, right? I want to go back to that because I'm still compelled. You. You blew my mind when you said, I took this $40,000 and I'm putting it into four more properties. I want to know where Brittney Turner goes from here.
Back to broke.
Back to broke.
We had a woke cycle, and then we're back to broke. So can we. Can we go back into that on the next episode?
Let's do it.
Perfect.
