Jeremy Alexander Newsom.
What do you wish you had known starting your career?
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, man. Great question.
Thank you. Thank you.
Two things. Number one, if I could go back and give my little baby terrified self some advice.
It would be that no matter what happens, you will overcome this. So stop wasting all of this anxiety, because most of the things that you're afraid of aren't actually going to happen. And even if worse things happen than you are afraid of, currently you are stronger than you can possibly fathom and you are enough to overcome this. And you are going to do so many good things with what you learn. That everything that you think, oh, this is so much. I never actually processed this out loud. This is getting me everything you thought was the worst thing to ever happen to you, you will thank God for even the things you never fathomed you could possibly thank him for, you will thank him for, because you will ninja every curse and turn it into a blessing. Oof.
Yeah, watery too.
Oh, my gosh. That was. I never said that out loud.
Thank you for sharing that.
You're welcome.
That's huge.
Number two.
Okay.
Number two, I actually created a mastermind around the second thing. I wish I had known. So in my career, I was always really insecure because I thought I was wrong in learning business. I felt, and I saw that everything that had been done before me was greed centered. And in order to be successful, you had to be really masculine. You had to be focused on money or it would go away. If you don't focus on it, it'll go away. And you have to just like really, really, really hammer in on money first. Money first. Money first. That was never my heart, and I actually never really gave in to that. But I always had this massive insecurity that I was wrong, I must be wrong. And when I dealt with cash crises, which happen A lot. Especially in real estate. All the time, daily. Yeah. When I was dealing with that, I always blamed it on because I wasn't greed centered. I must be a failure because every person, even the people I respected, told me, you cannot care about people on the planet the way that you do and still make it. You can't, Brittany. You can't. You're just not gonna make it in business. You should be a nonprofit. You should be a non profit. You should be a nonprofit.
You probably heard that tons, didn't you?
All the time. You've got too big of a heart. So, Brittany, you're wrong. You're never going to make it. Spoken over my life over and over again. And I wasn't like, I don't think I was as brave as you to look up and be like, I'm better than you. I was just like, maybe I won't make it. And I wish I hadn't engaged in those thoughts because what was downloaded into my spirit and my source for even creating all the stuff that I did came from a place of really the future. What has happened to the world is people care so much about working with and spending their dollars in companies that care more about people on the planet than just profit. And they want to make sure that whatever they're empowering with their money because people are realizing the power of their money is expanding force for good companies. And So I started GeForce because I want to give away the tools, network, mindset, resources needed to stabilize other force for good entrepreneurs.
Okay.
I really wish I had had that network because I had no other human in my life that was driven with the same motivation I am. So I've hunted down all these people and now we're attracting them. And we can talk through our problems with the right filters. Because if I talked through my issue with a greed centered person, they're gonna have a very different answer. And so I think your network is massively important. Be confident in your values and know that if you continue to work hard and strategize, you will find a way to create business and be successful and never have to sacrifice your values. And when you do that, it'll actually come back in the weirdest ways and scale you.
That's the big one. Never sacrificing your values. Some people feel like they would have to, right? I have to give this up. I have to sacrifice this.
It's part of business. It's business.
It's just business.
It's just business. Don't take personally, Bernie. It's just business. It's part of it. You're like, oh, is it? I didn't know. So, yeah. Just being more. I freaking wish I was more confident.
Yeah.
Gosh dang it.
Yeah.
I was right all along.
Right. Right.
So for you, what do you wish you had known again?
Profound coming over to me. Here we go. I'm gonna do my best. Now, in a situation like this, I think not taking the literal answer, like, I wish I would have known this stock was gonna do.
Of course.
Yeah. Without doing that.
I would have just honestly told myself that I am actually very valuable.
I think there was so much doubt coming from that religion. Coming from the religion and the beliefs that you and your whole life is never going to amount to anything. Right. It's a very, very scarcity mindset, religion and all that you're doing. All the people that are here on Earth, literally all of them, like 99.999% are going to die and they're going to be wiped out. And it's just. That's what's going to happen. All the world is going to be over and everyone's going to be gone and just doesn't make any sense to me. All the people that you know, they're all going to die. And coming from that and trying to do anything to the extent that you're going to make that not be true. Right. Spend all this time and energy and resources helping the people that I think subconsciously won't even be here.
Right, Right.
There was all of this polarity and all this challenges mentally that why am I even doing it? Why is this even a thing? Why are you putting in all this time if they're not going to be here? So dealing with those struggles, dealing with those struggles, knowing that you actually are valuable enough to make that change in their life, that you can do it, that you can offer wisdom and insight and motivation and excitement and energy and enrichment and being able to truly impact even though you don't think you can. That's what I would tell myself. That's what I wish I would learn. I wish I would have known that I, let's say 10 years ago that I really am valuable enough to make those type of impacts. Because I would have stopped waiting as long as I did. Oh, my gosh.
I have a really important question.
Okay.
You came from a cult.
Yeah.
A very strict rule place around what you're allowed to think. I'm sure everybody around you was in this as well at the time.
Everyone I knew.
So I think what I'm trying to Ask is how to become an independent thinker when everybody around you thinks the same. Now, we all are dealing with this on a macro level, but you were dealing with it on a micro and macro level. How did you almost matrix this whole breaking free and learning to think on your own.
I appreciate that question. Thank you. Thanks for asking. It was scary. It's really scary because you do in that world when you live in a cult, when you. I mean, that's what I grew up in. So we're talking all of my friends, all the people that I hold dear, all the people that know me, that I know, that I love, that love me, right? All of them are all part of this religion. That's the only people I can hang out with. That's only people I'm around. And other than like my family members who are not witnesses, other than them, we're talking to everyone I know. And so leaving that when you leave, you do what's called, you get disfellowshipped is the term. And so in this disfellowshipment, no one talks to you. That's. That's your pain. That's your, hey, you're wrong. Get out. No one talks to you. So, like my mom currently doesn't talk to me, right? All the friends I knew, hundreds of people gone. Those relationships are broken. So when you're talking about how to become a free thinker, how to really start changing your mind, there is going to be pain associated with that. Because whatever you are thinking at this moment in your time in your life, going apart from the status quo, taking that mental exodus from the status quo is going to be painful. Taking that blue pill or the red pill, when he did the Matrix, right? When he did it, there is that pain associated when he's ripping out those things out of his back and he's in that capsule and he's getting flushed down and all that is pain and he's recovering. So, yeah, it's a painful experience to stop thinking the majority the way the path, the majority of everyone else, that group think there's going to be some pain in that. And to start changing what you have to do is you put yourself in environments that are totally unique to you. So for me was going to a Buddhist monastery. That was terrifying for me. But that was one of those steps in that decision. And that was. It was almost forced on me because I was going through a class that I took World religion and in order to get an A, I'm an A kind of guy. I love getting the A'S this is in college. Yeah, I have to go. You had to go to a.
I forget the exact assignment, but you have to go to a temple, something that you normally don't do, and write down your experience. And so it was like, okay, do I get a C in this class or do I go get an A and do this thing that I'm terrified of going to? And that push by Dr. Charles Humphries, my man, that push was, you got to go. You got to do this. You got to get out of your comfort zone. And that is that pain, that pulling apart from what you know, that separation from where you are to where you need to go, that is always going to be pain associated with that. So I'm at this Buddhist temple, and I don't understand the language. I don't understand the. I don't understand what they're doing. I don't understand what they're saying. I'm terrified. I'm scared. I'm sitting there, I'm totally out of. I'm just shocked by sinning. Absolutely. I am definitely dying now. I am an apostate. I'm not coming back from this. Like, it's not good. And I sit there and I do what they do. I'm doing the chants best I can. I'm doing the breathing, and I start feeling a calmness. I just start feeling a little bit of serenity. And I start realizing that.
God is all internal. Your relationship to whatever you hold dear, the universe, the creator, the energy, the source, the focus in your life.
It'S all right here. It's all internal. You can tap into that. The human eyeball, at a close glance, looks exactly like the universe.
Oh, that's cool.
Looks exactly like the universe. If you take a universe picture and the human eyeball, I mean, the similarities are magnificent. And that's because we're all created. It's all this beautiful sphere and this circle that we get intertwined and then we get made of. All the materials that were created from the universe are now inside of us, and they are intertwined, and they're beautiful, and they're gorgeous, and they're all encompassing, and they're all inside of you. So you have access, you have that capability, you have all that knowledge, all that love inside of you at all times. That's when I started realizing that, and that's when I started going down this path of, like, spiritual enlightenment, doing my absolute best to try to learn other practices and learn other religions and learn other beliefs. And that's when I started realizing that that's what God is. God is love. And if you want to have an impact on this world, find ways to just love as many people as possible and show them true kindness, true sincerity, true generosity.
And you will make an impact. You will leave a legacy. You will leave a mark.
Wow. I love that.
Thanks for asking.
I love that. And I love how the opportunity to truly change the world is going to come from love.
Yeah.
You know.
Mother Teresa says, you know, if you have an anti war rally, fight against war, I'm not going. She said, if you decide to have a peace rally, I'll be there. And then again, Buckminster Fuller, you never change things by fighting the existing reality. You do it by creating something better and making the other one obsolete. And so I see a lot of our generation specifically become hater activists.
Yeah.
They wouldn't probably call themselves haters, but they just. They lead with hate.
Yeah. They try to tear the other buildings down.
Right.
Both physically and.
Yeah. That's not truly how you change things. You change things by sharing its value and through love. If you've never watched the movie Gandhi, it doesn't matter what religion you are. You see somebody who. Oh, my gosh, what an amazing story. Shifts an entire country and frees an entire country. He had no money. He had nothing. But the way in which he. He engaged with the depths of the human spirit, the goodness inside.
The way he appealed to that changed everything. And it's the first time something like that has happened versus a war.
Yeah.
And it changed my life. I was like, oh, my gosh. Because I think naturally, I'm such a fighter, you know, I just am. And it's easy to lash out and, like, defend the innocent. This is an atrocity. And how do you do that? But how do we lead with love to see the change that we want in the world? And that's a constant daily battle against your own natural instincts and against what the world tells you you have to shift things by. But I think that is the way that things truly change.
It's your heart set.
Yeah.
That's one of the big takeaways.
Well, it's God's grace that leads us to want to change. It's not God's, you know, boycotting us or voting us off the island or kicking us out of the village. It's God's grace.
Right.
So I love that. Oh, my gosh.
Yeah.
So good.
