Brittany Turner shares a recovery checklist for bouncing back from major setbacks: read your eulogy and vision board, call mentors, practice gratitude, serve others, and do a forgiveness exercise. The goal is regaining perspective and getting back to mission-focused work.
Chapters
Both Brittany Turner and myself have been wiped out. It's a rebuilding that is essential to your divine path and to your calling into your mission as a human being on this earth. Brittany's going to share with you her tips for you to drastically and dramatically do it faster than you thought possible. So listen in to her crucial takeaways on how to rebuild after a wipeout.
Wipe out the show. Courtney was on it. She won it. It's amazing. And what's cool about that is it tells me and it tells the world subliminally and subconsciously that you can have a wipeout and rebuild.
You can have a wipeout and you can win.
You can win wipeout even if it happens to you big money. So if it occurs, if you do face a drastic change in your business and your life and something, a tsunami of problems hit you, how do we recover from a wipeout? How do we rebuild?
I'm like a freaking pro, okay? I'm a pro at recovery.
Notice that I asked her this question, okay? She didn't ask me.
It's. You know what's funny is recently some of the greatest dreams of my whole life are coming into alignment. And the way in which I thought I would be able to help these different groups and different leaders would always be, you know, helping them maybe be able to fundraise for their nonprofits or, you know, send resources or this or this or this. But it's to encourage them on how to level up, because typically you get your legs cut out from under you right before your biggest breakthrough or right before you. It's time to take the organization to the next level. And it is on my vision board to be able to help influence the influential, because I think that's one of the most ripple effect things you can do is affect the people at the top, because they're responsible for so many people. And I'm like, sharing with them my story and some of the crap I've had to overcome. And they're like, no way. It's not just me. It's not just me. I'm like, no, it's not just you. It's really anybody going from one level to another, but also just called to anything Great. Especially when there's so much darkness on the other side. And so I realized, having to explain myself, I have my own little checklist. You know how I feel about checklists.
Mm.
I love it.
You love a good checklist.
I hate reinventing the wheel.
Yeah.
I don't have time.
Yeah.
So here's what's on My checklist. It's called Rebuilding after wipeout, Depending on what caused the wipeout.
Control F. Rebuilding after Wipeout. Okay, pull up.
Just finding it. Well, it depends, you know, if it's betrayal, if it's really having your heart broken by somebody close to you turning on you. It could be an employee, it could be a family member, could be your significant other. I've got my own little, like, I start with this one, but if it's, you know, financial wipeout, it's. I run to this one. If it's. If it's just being stressed, the freak out, and wanting to quit, yep, it's that. And then if it's haters, it's a different one because they all have their own special different kind of pain. And lawsuits also have their own special kind of pain. So this is not necessarily in order because it depends on what the situation is, but to create my own bubble of positivity, I will first read my eulogy.
Okay.
Because again, that's the fastest way to give yourself that big picture mind. Don't get lost in this moment. What was your story, Brittany? Was it that so and so, you know, started a hater campaign about you, and that's when you cracked and just hid yourself in the wilderness and just gave up on life and stopped helping people and stopped being public, and therefore, you know, little girls only have musicians or whatever to look up to. Is that all you did? Is that where the story ended? No, that's not where the story ends. So you get to remind yourself of how your own story ends and remind yourself, no, I'm going to be a warrior. I'm going to overcome this. Second I look at my vision board again, here's what I'm going for. Here's why it matters. Here's the people I can help. Here's who you are as a person. Here's the stuff you live by, the phrases you live by. I'll call a mentor. If I really need talking off the ledge again, never, ever call someone down. Gripes go up. I believe that's a Saving Private Ryan line. Wow, I can't watch that movie. Too sad, but I've heard it.
Gripes go up if you have a complaint. If you have an issue, never go to somebody beneath you. This is huge advice to my entrepreneurs. Do not complain to your staff.
Sure.
I wish you could.
Right?
I struggled with this for years. And you can't. Gripes go up. And if all you have above you is God, gripes go up.
That's it.
So call a mentor Talk through it, pray through it. I do something really interesting. I actually have to draw on a piece of paper, the word God in the middle. And then I write every single thing that's massively stressing me out. And then I draw a line from the item and I hand it over and it's like this weird visual that is me truly surrendering. It doesn't mean I do no work around it, but it means like at the end of the day, if it doesn't work out the way that I want to in my timing, I trust.
Okay. Yep.
So whatever you guys believe, however you need to do that, understand we are all guided and that good things can and will happen to you for you, especially if you have pure intention and your. Your really going forward in life. But some of the worst things in my entire life that I wish on no one have brought the greatest blessings. And if it happened in my timing the way that I wanted it to, I'd be completely screwed right now and you and I wouldn't be sitting here. So you have to trust at the end of day, put in all the effort, then trust, not just hope. Good crap happens.
Yep.
All right. Is this good? Should I keep going?
Loving this.
All right, next one I do. I read Outwitting the Devil immediately and I look at all the attacks. Again, it's not a Christian or non Christian book.
It's not.
It's.
Oh, it really covers. Jeez. Just a plethora of detail about what would an evil person do? Satan or not?
How do you get knocked out of the game?
Exactly.
How do you stay awake to it?
Yep.
Again, the enemy's plan, whatever you call the enemy, the dark side, blah, blah, blah, sure isn't to kill you unless you're like crazy high level. Sometimes they can get that to happen. But most of the time it's not to kill you. It's to make you ineffective. Flopping around. We're not floppers. We're intentional with our life. And that's why I'm so stuck on this with you guys. I'm going to keep repeating. Jeremy's going to keep repeating it.
Yes.
This is what matters most. Next, I read Elon Musk's. I think it's like chapter seven or something. It's the year 2008 and how he deals with the problems of Tesla and the stress he went through. It sounds pathetic when I try to explain it, but when you listen to his. Every book I read is an audio. When you listen to his story, I just think I have no problem as an entrepreneur. I have not experienced stress yet compared to this man. And he is currently the richest man in the whole world. And it's not even about money. It's like what he's trying to do for the planet.
Well, that's weird. Back to work.
Amazing.
I know.
So what Jeremy just said is his tweet response to the announcement that he was the richest man in the world. Say it again.
Well, that's weird. Back to work.
Do you think this man has to.
Work 16 characters or less kind of thing? Awesome.
This is the kind of thing we're talking about with you guys.
Yeah.
How can you be financially free to work on your work, and then how can you be financially free to where your work is your work?
Mm. Truth. Truth.
Stay with me. That one's a deep one.
Yeah.
His business is his vehicle to change the world.
Right. He needs it.
And if it was just for greed purposes, he would patent his stuff.
Mm. Yeah. It's open source.
Open source.
Who wants to build these Tesla cars? Here they are. Boom.
Can you imagine?
Here's all the designs.
Here's everything he's spending on all this stuff. He's amazing.
Wild.
What a gift.
Wild.
All right, next.
When I am going into depression and I feel like absolutely everything in my life sucks, and I feel really sorry for myself, I have a whiteboard in every house that I've ever owned, and I have one where we are right now. I make myself get up, and I write on that whiteboard every single thing that is good in my life. And most of the time, I can't think of something, so I just look down with my head down, and I go, I have legs.
Yep. Just the basic, most simplistic. This is where I'm at.
I could have no money.
I can do this.
I could have no one loving me in my life. Everyone's betrayed me or whatever. But I have legs. And if I didn't have legs, I would probably wish every day that I did. And it's one thing to find gratitude in. And if you don't have legs and you're listening to this, you have ears.
Yep. Yes.
And if you don't have ears and you're watching us on YouTube, you have eyes, whatever. The thing is that you do have, let's say, celebrate it.
Yep.
Because whatever you focus on expands.
That's it.
So I've written that down. And some days, again, it's only been, I have legs and my mom loves me. Like, that's it.
Those are things I can find.
And, hey, I have a Whiteboard.
You know, just write whatever is working and then you can unspiral yourself. Things really aren't that bad.
Yeah, you start anchoring and then you start going. Yeah, well that is true. I do have that. And yeah, that's also true. I have that. And when you start focusing on you're at a place of gratitude and generosity and just realness. Yeah, I actually have a lot things could be worse.
Exactly what you're saying. It's not that. Well, Britney, you do have a lot going on and it does matter. Yeah. And because I compare myself to somebody that probably has it a little worse than me doesn't mean I don't appreciate that this is a problem. And it still hurts my feelings. But I have perspective of remembering what matters most. And with that perspective I find gratitude. And gratitude is a depression killer.
So is, so is it's an everything healer gratitude.
It is. Yeah, it really is.
You know, whatever you got going on.
Last but not least, serving others. I've talked to so many people that this works for not just me. Which is really cool. Go to is find a way to serve someone else that may have it harder than you. You know, I've got a friend that just went through a horrific divorce and she went and volunteered for a foster agency for kids and found out how messed up the system is, how many people want to adopt and it became her whole life purpose. And now she's like leading thousands of kids to being able to be adopted and getting out of the foster system and like giving them these beautiful lives. So that is it. You've got to find a way to pull yourself back together. Number one thing reoccurring theme is perspective. I've got all these little strategies to gain a better perspective. Because if you're looking down and you're only looking at this problem, then you can't see the blessing that's right in front of you.
Yep.
And if you look back at your track record, there isn't one thing so far that God hasn't brought you through. So Therefore you've got 100% success rate of surviving anything. And with every obstacle carries with it.
A blessing and an opportunity seed of.
Equal or greater opportunity. Napoleon Hill. So where is the blessing in that?
Yes.
Oh, this is the last one I'm going to share.
Okay.
I think I shared this before but it's amazing. So one time I was feeling really sorry for myself because I had somebody really horribly turn on me.
Yeah.
And I was complaining to God. I was mostly mad at God. I was like why the freak did you let me even meet that person? You could have spared me. Why? Why? And I was reading Billy Alsbrook's book. First chapter, it's on forgiveness. And at the end, he's got this little exercise, and he said, write down a list of everyone who's hurt you and pray, blessings on them. And I'm like, I would rather die.
Yeah. I'm like, no, well, I don't do that.
Yeah. I'm trying to cut back on that. Don't really feel like. And now I could do it, but I wouldn't mean it.
Right.
But I heard God say loud and clear, write down a list of everybody who's hurt you. And I was like, oh, I can do that.
Yeah. It's a long list. Pen might run dry doing it.
And then write down everything they did to hurt you. And I was like.
I got that all day. And I was just like, oh, my gosh. It just really amplified how pissed I was. I was like, oh, my gosh, everyone's turned on me. I've had a horrible life. And then I heard, loud and clear, now write down everything you wouldn't have had I spared you from ever meeting them.
Mic drop.
This is the most incredible forgiveness exercise you can possibly do.
It's so hard.
Once you write that.
You will never look at that person the same, because you'll see that the worst people in your life that have hurt you the worst have brought you the greatest things. And your whole life would be so different if it wasn't for them. I mean, the worst of the worst brought me the best of the best.
Yeah.
And it's not that you're looking to attract anything weird or like, I need to suffer in order to be worthy of a blessing. It's none of that. It's just understanding, redemption, understanding the goodness of God, understanding how things do come together in the end, you are guided. Sometimes you're allowed to experience pain, not even for yourself. Yeah. But for others. Because then you can hold a safe space of grace for people to come and heal inside of because you were strong enough. So that is my checklist.
You became that temple. You became the grounds at which everything was tested and proved upon. You were the internal battlefield where you get determined, and all those things come out in the end. You decide what stays and what goes.
You do. And the faster you can pull yourself back, the stronger you are, the more powerful you are, the less distracted you are, the less likely you're going to become a drifter, the less likely you're going to Drift for what used to be months can then become weeks, can then become days, can then become hours, can then become minutes and seconds. Because no one can rock you. If you are training to be an elite military, special forces, you're going to get trained in all this stuff so that no matter what happens, you're still on mission. No matter if you're hungry, you don't have the right shelter, you don't have the right weapons, you don't have the right anything. They are trained enough to be able to stay on mission. That's your own life, right? That is your own life. How can you stay on mission no matter what's going on?
Sure. Can I pretend to go off the script that we don't actually have and ask you a question?
Sure.
That's really on my mind. What you just described is an internal one. But you also, I've been told, help rebuild and revitalize nations. I would love to know your checklist for that at a future episode. If we can just like fit that in somewhere. I think that'd be so much fun for listeners and specifically me, if we can do that. Because that checklist is absolutely like a phenomenal checklist. That's an internal, personal, individual one. That's you. I'd love to know what you would do to fix a country, a nation, when a massive issue has happened and they have been wiped out.
Absolutely, yes.
Okay. So we're gonna jot that down in one of the episodes coming up. So stay tuned for that. That was just a random thing. I just needed. Cause I want to hear that.
Yeah.
So thank you for sharing your list for me and with me. That's a huge one team. For those who are listening, I want you to really, really go back and understand that there is a tidal wave, there's always a fear. There's always something that's approaching you. And if you can hit it head on and know in advance that there is something and it's always going to be there at some point, embrace it when it happens. Have your checklist ready. Be prepared. Because if you go to battle with a sword and a shield, it's going to be better than if you don't.
Yeah.
So having that becomes an armor, having that becomes protection. Having not only that list, but the direction and the guidance and knowing who you're going to be speaking to and praying to and thinking with.
And I know incredible people who have a great vision, great capacity, great ability, get knocked out of the game for some of the biggest and smallest stuff. And it's up to you again to fulfill the mission at the magnitude that you so choose. What level did you call it quits? And if you can find different unique strategies to pull yourself back and remember.
The more powerful you become.
Bam. Jot that down, ladies and gentlemen. More to come in the very next episode. Me and Brittany, we'll see you there.
