If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Everything you want to do requires joining forces with someone or some organization. If you want to attract those people, keep them. You've got to find ways to create value. We're going to tell you how in this next episode.
We are on a love train right now.
Wow.
And you're all passengers. So thank you so much for being a part of this journey. This season two of Broke to woke.
We love you.
She is Brittany Faith Turner. I'm Jeremy Alexander Newsome. And in this episode, we're talking about value, how to create value.
So people want to keep you around.
Yeah, because you were mentioning that you were doing this phenomenal, just gorgeous tirade of information on how someone can change and shape and shift and be a true leader and champion in their organizations, in their respective organizations and their roles. And you mentioned them creating value. So how would they go about that?
There's so many ways, and it just depends on the setting. But anywhere you want to go, any people you want to be around, naturally only keep things that are valuable to them in some way. Makes sense. Whether you like that or not, that's natural human instinct. So how can you not be a drag on society, not be a drag on your family, not be a drag on your spouse, not be a drag on your kids? Let's pull it together so that we can be our optimal selves blessing them, creating value again, enhancing things, elevating them for being there, versus just sucking the life out of stuff. The first time I really saw this was again, I'm riding around in the car with this rehabber and I'm desperately trying to learn from him. And he wasn't telling me anything. He was only on his phone back to back to back all day long. And so I'm like, dang, I'm kind of in this car. I'm not, like, helping him with anything. He won't even answer my questions because he's just on the phone all the day. So I started listening to what was frustrating him, what was irritating him, and if I knew, I knew if I could make his life easier, he might keep me around.
Mm.
So I did. Again, if he was struggling with finding more deals, I went and found him more deals. Now, one thing he would tell me is how to do that. I took furious notes because if I asked him the same thing over and over again, he would probably.
I don't know if he'd fire you at that point.
Probably be annoyed I wasn't getting paid.
You Weren't even getting paid. He couldn't fire you.
He probably would find me annoying. And he would probably be like, what the heck? So took notes on everything he said, made sure I asked those questions once, and lo and behold, I made him several hundred thousand dollars over the next couple months. And I was extremely valuable to him. So I got to learn. And for learning, I didn't have any money to pay him. I generated tons of money, tons of value, tons of new relationships for them and made his life a lot easier. When have you found a way to create value in order to level up or learn something or be in circles that you normally may not be given access to?
And in the previous episode, we mentioned love languages. And there are five. Let me see if I can write all those five off. We have words of affirmation. We have physical touch. We have acts of service. We have quality time. And what's the fifth one?
Gifts.
Gifts, yes. So my value would try to be to figure out what love language a person I'm interacting with has and see if I can provide that to them.
Is that manipulative?
No.
Is that thoughtful?
I think so.
It is.
I think so.
Taking the time to give a crap. Just taking the time to notice someone else.
What are they like?
How do you connect with them better? That is not manipulative. Now, there are people out there that do this in a manipulative way. We are not saying that.
That they're abs, of course. I mean, there's evil people that are going to do anything.
Yeah.
But in essence. And I met someone recently. His name was Alejandro. And immediately I'm like, his love language is physical touch. That's how he communicates. So when I communicate with him, I make sure to touch his arm, to look him in the eye, to, like, give him a quick jab or like a little, you know, a love bro punch kind of thing. And that's how he communicates, and that's how he wants to be communicated with. And that's one of his love languages. I want to understand what people need. Within minutes of meeting you, I knew exactly what yours was. It was easy. It was obvious. Right. Because that's who you are. I mean, I learned this much later, but your purpose in life is to serve. So, hello. Acts of service probably is going to be something important to you. So what's one of the things I do for you? I want to add value. So I go, how can I help her? How can I alleviate some of her financial stresses? How can I come in her life and just Be a rock. One of the few rocks that she has that's going to be always there for her and provide service to her. Right.
Guess what I want to do? Keep him around.
Yeah.
Throw opportunities his way. Find out how I can bless his life. Do I always feel like in some way I owe him in a non, like, weird guilt way? It's great. That's like, precisely. I think some of the highest levels of love and. No. We both have significant others. We love each other as friends.
Yes.
And your friend relationships, how can you find ways to love? I'm constantly figuring out, how can I open more doors? How can I have Jeremy have the best time of his life with his wife? How can I take stress off of them? How can I help them live their dreams? And normally. I think the top way I normally open love people is through opening doors and different opportunities.
Yeah. Provide them a connection, provide them a network. Provide someone in their life where this relationship would be so synergistic and symbiotic, would just help them propel their business or their ideals or their growth or whatever.
Closer to their vision.
Yes. And you have done that. You do an amazing job of that. And when you're talking about adding value as an employee or as a CEO or as an organizational leader or as a world leader or visionary, you can add value. You can find ways to do things for people by noticing either problems and help alleviating those, as you just mentioned. Right. You're riding in that car and you're listening for what are this dude's problems? And taking notes and taking notes and being sincere and being genuine and going, let me just remove this problem for you. That's how I built my business organically, was just going out and helping people, solving their problems on, I don't know how to do this in the stock market. I don't know how to do this particular trade in my broker. Okay. So for free, I would contact them and I would send them a video going, hey, I made you this video, John. And that video explains exactly what problem you solve. You know, what problem you have. I solved it for you. Boom, here's the video.
I love that. Yeah, that's a really unique approach too. So a lot of people hearing this are gonna feel like, I've gotta be an entrepreneur or I have to do my own thing. And a lot of times that might be pride. You know, I've been passionate about helping ending human trafficking since I was 12. I can't even tell you how much of my day, how, what percentage of my thoughts Are consumed with wanting to solve this. And now that I'm involved with Operation Underground Railroad, the way in which I get to interact is through serving someone else's organization, using my skills to create value. And guess what? They're doing. They are again, keeping us around. They're going to be better for it. It's this really fun thing that I listen to their problems, which everybody has them.
Right.
And then I found ways to make their life easier.
Yeah. And I'm gonna stop you for a moment.
More impactful.
Yes. I'm stop you because I'm gonna tell people that I saw you do this firsthand. The way you did it is you're like, let's all sit down and we're gonna whiteboard together. Right. Let me physically, like, draw. Use my time to show you some roadblocks and some hurdles that you have. Because I think you're pretty good at scaling multi million dollar businesses. Right. Or businesses that have impact or businesses that really, really poor into people's missions. And so who wouldn't want to sit down with someone else who's a visionary and just have them review some of your business that was value. And you didn't ask anything in return for that?
No. You know what I did? I said, let me be part of helping you.
Yes.
Let me in. Let me in. And how cool is that? That you can have. And I'm not bragging on myself, but.
You can, you can brag on yourself.
You can have, you know, a deca, blah, blah, blah, millionaire who does all this stuff, who actually takes the time to consider, how can I work for them?
Yes.
How can I work for them full time? Because I'm that passionate about their cause. My point is, if you find ways to let people join in your mission and you're clear about it, and you find all these interesting ways to connect, purpose, and bridge those gaps, you can have amazing miracles and gifts walk into your life that you can never afford.
Right.
I didn't say, let me see how messed up you are and how I can fix you. I said, I want a clear understanding of what you guys do so I can see how we can help, if at all.
Because maybe you don't need help.
I actually didn't think they did. Yeah, I didn't think they needed help. But everyone needs help. And so again, how can I partner my resources with your mission? Because I'm in alignment with your mission. Did it have to be my organization that we rescue kids through? No. No.
But again, pride. A lot of people would say that it needs to be mine, it has to be mine. And your situation, like, don't care, get it done.
Same thing with aerial recovery group. Number one mission is to save lives. If it's through them, let's do it.
Sure.
If it's through us, let's do it. It doesn't matter. The mission is the mission is the mission. So never forget that, guys, for yourself, if an opportunity comes along the way, and it's not necessarily under your banner.
It still could be the right thing.
For you, of course. And that's how, I mean, that's how you create amazing partnerships, amazing friends, amazing businesses, ventures. In fact, my beautiful human beings, my listeners out there right now, or my watchers, this could be a primary question that you ask in your life, in your relationships, in your money, in your businesses. This could be your primary question you ask every day when you wake up. How can I create value? My personal primary question is how can I enrich lives?
Yes. I love that because it's like two sided. You're enriching and you're enriching. It's so cool. I'm like, that was a clever one.
Thank you.
So good.
Thank you.
And you do that, you do it with a conversation, you do it through education, you do it in every single part of your life. I think it's the most beautiful synergy I've ever seen.
I really appreciate that. Yeah. Thank you. And the honest approach is this is something that you guys just steal that. Steal it. How to create value. How to create value. Because when you ask that question, if you are an Uber driver, you'll notice, does this person, are they on the phone? Do they want you to turn your music down? Is it too hot? Is it too cold?
Be present.
Yeah, be present. If you're a driver, understand what this person needs behind you. And, and I have tipped actually random fact. Did you know, at least in the current realm of the technology, Uber has a maximum tip allotment?
What?
Yeah.
No.
Yeah, I tried to tip someone $100 once because they were so valuable and they just did so much, like help me with my bags. I was kind of having like a stressful day.
I don't know if that's a hostage thing exactly.
I don't know the exact protocol or whatever, but there was an amount where I could only tip a max and it was like 40 bucks. Whatever the cost was of the ride, the ride I think was the max amount tip. Anyway, long story short, it was something that they thought of and they could just tell that I was stressed and they Brought it up. They're like, hey, man, I can see your little stress right now. What can I do to alleviate that stress? That's what he asked me.
Wow.
I was like. I kind of laughed. And I was like, dude, yeah, man, I need a phone charger and some water. Those are the things I needed. And that was worth 100 bucks to.
Me at that moment in time.
That's cool, you know? And guess what? He had a phone charger and he did not have water. So he went to a gas station and went and got me a Fiji water. Paid for it and everything.
Right?
That's so nice.
Found out that Uber had a maximum tip allotment from that ride. But again, it can be in any environment, any position, any room. Because earlier when we talked about one of my insecurities, when I go to a room and I'm like, everyone here is amazing, you know? And the only thing I can do is just pour in value and pour in love. When you're in that moment, you'll start to feel that and you'll start to realize, oh, my gosh, this is me. I can just be in this room and just add value. I can just be the best servant in this room.
You don't have to be the prettiest. You don't have to be the best dressed. You can find someone to add value to.
Correct.
And therefore, was it a worthy event?
Yes. And it will be, because they're going to immediately connect with you. They're going to immediately feel drawn to you and compelled that they want to do something for you or work with you or help you in some form or fashion, because that's called being a human. And rich. Amazing. Humans are incredible.
I went to this event a couple weeks ago, and I met this guy, and I heard how he went from being, like, completely impoverished to now sourcing all of the food for all NFL stadiums in the entire United States.
Really?
That's awesome. Like, if you have a restaurant, your food has to go through him.
What?
Like, every single one? And I was like, what the heck? And I watched him the whole event. He just beboped around the room and, like, literally met everyone. And I said, what are you doing? And how did you get where you are? He said, I believe that there are too many people on the planet for me to be in proximity to someone for no reason.
And it's my job to go find out that reason. Why are we in proximity to each other? Why are we in each other's lives? How can we help each other? How can I Bless you. And so he literally met every single person in the room.
That's epic.
That's so cool.
That's epic. You gotta throw me that person's contact.
That was amazing. Like, genius. Networker.
Yeah. Which is ironic because we're gonna be talking about that in the next episode.
What?
How to network. Yeah. And apparently we're just gonna steal that guy everything that he did and everything that we're talking about in this episode.
Because it was a genius, genius approach. The heart set of why he's talking to you.
And thank you for using that term because that was one of the most mind blowing phrases of season one was you have a mindset for things and then you have a heart set for things. I remember you telling me that. I was like, God, this woman's good. You know, I was like, she is good.
I've never heard it somewhere else before. It just came out.
On how many of those things have happened as we're talking, we're like, I've never said that before out loud, but it feels so good.
We're just trying to express the way in which we go about stuff.
Yeah.
And so I love. That's what I love about working with you. You pull out greatness.
Well, thank you. In the next episode, we're going to keep doing that. I'm going to pull out greatness. You're going to pull some greatness. As we talk about how to network, let's.
