Podcast episode (S5 E10) featuring Jerremy Newsome and Brittany Turner exploring strength and wellness as investments that enable long-term goals. They define strength broadly (mindset, physical preparedness), cite grip strength as a longevity marker, share recovery stories and practical tactics—meal prepping, controlling environment, tracking macros—to shape the body ("abs are made in the kitchen"). The episode closes with a promo for the GeForce Entrepreneurs program.

Brittany Turner once again absolutely decimates my brain with her definition of strength and most importantly, how she ties it in to her and her family's creation of the best physical body imaginable. Tune in to hear her hacks on how she does it.
Stepping up or stepping out. You know, Step up is a really good movie. I don't know if you've seen it. Not see you haven't, but you know what I'm talking about.
Is it a dancing movie where they like get me space.
Step Up. Are you to step up?
I need to watch that tonight.
You need to watch it tonight and all the other things you have going on tonight. But the real question I did have, though, truly I mentioned in the last episode, stepping up does actually require strength.
Yes.
And courage. Brittany, what's your definition of that word? We've defined so many words and broke too. Oak, what does strength mean to you?
I actually have a elevate strength summit because it's one of the core pillars of whole life success. It is one of the things that you've got to have organized in your life because if not, you are truly robbed from being a powerful force for good. So you've got to have a vision, which is dreams. You got to have the wealth, which is abundance. To be able to provide for those dreams. You gotta have the physical body in shape enough or organized enough and planned enough. Meaning you actually eat the food that's gonna help you reach your destiny. You eat like you mean it. You eat like you believe that's reality. And.
So strength is super important. Again, as somebody who has never been sick before, has never gone through long term physical hardship like that, I feel so blessed that I never have before pregnanc. But that was lit. It's not just, again, like I didn't feel good. This was violently throwing up every single day, waking up three times a night to go hurl your guts up. It was awful. And.
Again, I was really awakened to how important.
True strength, true wellness, true health really is and how powerful of an investment it is. Because again, I had something wonderful coming and I had a deadline and I knew that I would be able to be back to my normal self or work towards that and all those things. It wasn't a terminal illness, but what can I do now to prevent ever being in a physically ill situation again? And it's not that you're focused on the illness, it's focused on your wellness. Because to be the best, Brittany, to be feeling inspired, your feelings have a lot to do with it. Your physical Feelings. When your body's alarming you that something's wrong, it's very distracting to try to think past that. So strength is about the mindset required to be able to accomplish that vision that God's putting on your heart. These dreams that you want to take place in your life, but it's also investing in your body according to those dreams.
What does strength mean to you?
I gotta pause on that one for a second. That's good. That's good. Because it's.
I don't think a lot of people have connected the dot of investing into your body.
So that you can fulfill your calling.
Yeah. That's the whole point of it. Because if not, this is not a modeling competition. This isn't what.
Although you've won one of those before. I mean, you got a medal.
It's not that we're trying to be in accordance with what society says is beautiful this week.
No, that's not what we're talking about.
It's not about hating our body into being in a different shape. It's about understanding what's required of you. And therefore, you get to work out so that you get to have those amazing memories with your grandchildren.
Right.
Or you get to do those rescue missions, or you get to hike to that mountain. You get to see this, and you get to be there fully present, not with the alarms going off because you never prepared for it. Prepare for these dreams to happen and start living like it.
Yeah. I think it's really fascinating. I do. I like that definition a lot, the investing. Because when you think about investing, I don't. I just don't think a lot of times my brain initially goes to. You can invest in your body. Yeah. And we've heard it a million times, right? Health is your biggest wealth, because when that's taken from you, nothing else matters. You're one of your main guys, Right. Our buddy crushing crushed it. Crush and hurt his neck really bad.
Yeah.
Right. Sleeping. Wrong. I think. I think that's what he said. Correct me if I'm wrong, Christian. I think he's like, I just slept really poorly. But he woke up, his neck was like toast. Right. And so you saw the other day, he had to turn his whole body because he couldn't turn his neck. But for any of my friends who've had back pain, right. Lower back pain or something is seized up. How quickly will that rob you of your joy? Like, you're probably not bounding out of bed or running up and down the stairs because you're in pain. And when you're in pain and that stuff starts hitting you. Everything is getting focused on that. And for a lot of individuals out there, there's people that definitely, absolutely struggle with the awareness of that investing in their body. Not necessarily because of money. It doesn't have to be because of money. It can be because of time or just research or knowledge. For example, I learned this recently thanks to Andrew Huberman, Dr. Andrew Huberman. He said on one of his podcast episodes that one of the number one determining factors of how long you're going to live is your grip strength.
Oh, really?
Yeah, he's like, that's one of the number one determin, how long you're going to live is your grip strength.
What's the association?
Well, the association, not necessarily like when you're 20, like, oh, you can't, you're not super strong. You have a strong grip. By the way, your grip is fine.
Now I'm paranoid now. See me walk around.
Good, good. But the association is in your 50s or 60s. If you go to fall, can you grab onto something and hold yourself so you don't fall? That's it. That simple.
Okay, Right.
And as you progress over time, same thing, like if you and I go do a push up or put our hands on the floor or something, like our fingers, like, we can hold ourselves up. But as you get older, yes, those things will start to slowly deteriorate for sure. But if you can build up that muscle. You ever shaken the hand of like a World War II veteran or Vietnam veteran, you're like my guy, right? He's got like this like cinder block grip and you're like this dude. And then it turns out he's 85. You're like, not surprised because they put a lot of time they've invested into their body. Yeah, I think that's a really, really cool definition. I just liked it a lot.
Yes, investment. Well, you're paying for it now, you're paying for it later.
I've heard you can buy the more expensive food that's good for you or you're going to spend that same amount of money in pills.
Oh, interesting.
And it's going to feel a lot worse.
Interesting.
It's absolutely an investment. And a lot of people starting their businesses are going to put their body last. They're going to grab whatever's around them. And this is something that I did too in the beginning. I didn't make time for it, didn't prioritize. But there really is better options nowadays. Everything from just buying some containers and meal prepping. Yourself one time a week. Just buy it in bulk. Meal prep it. Have healthy food available. A lot of times, health is about what's around you. So how do you put something around you that's a good decision waiting to happen? Put good decisions around you so they're waiting to happen.
Yeah, that's fine. I don't have any chips in my house.
Access to this healthy food or meal, you know, ordering those. Meal prep companies don't have candy around, don't have junk around, don't have alcohol around. Whatever it is that you create in your environment will be your environment. It's as simple as that.
Don't you dare bring peanut M&MS. And to my house.
I know peanut Butter M&M's. No weakness.
Don't you do it.
Devil. Stiff door.
Get away from me, Satan.
Don't you bring those in my house.
It's so good. So good. Dang it.
Yeah, but again, we know. It's like, I. I don't. I literally do not put those in my house. If I get it, I go to the store, I buy a little bit of a bag. I have an island, my snack.
And there's no sugar allowed on the island.
Yeah.
And then you're.
You're from that bay.
You were surrounded by water, so you have to swim to get to it. If it's not allowed on the island, I can't get it. Yeah, it's too hard to get to. So therefore, I won't. I told somebody that they're like, you're so disciplined. I said, I have really good systems of discipline. And so you should all start thinking through what are the systems for discipline that are more powerful and structured than your will?
Yeah.
Because those M and M's. Oh, my gosh, they're so good.
Well, and here's the truth, though. So when you mentioned investing into your body. Well, you're gonna love this money tip. I gotta bring one up.
Bring it up.
That's why I gave him the nickname J.
Money Newsome.
You gave me the nickname?
The Lord gave you the name. It came to me one day.
Thank you.
I heard it.
J. Money.
He shall be renamed.
Thank you. You know this to be true. Meal prepping will also save you tons of money.
Lots of money.
A lot of money. And you will get healthier and you will lose weight and get shredded. Gentlemen. Right. If you ain't got an AB to be found. Hello. Right. Not a single AB anywhere. You can't see it even in the right, you know, mirror with the lighting, and you kind of like stand sideways and squint. Even if then you don't get a singular ab. It's a food thing. I hear it all the time. Abs are made in the kitchen. And so if you want more abs to show I got one. Singular AB is like right on the top left. It's a nice one. But if you wanted all six, you simply eat more protein, you cut down sugar, you move more and you eat a little bit better. Just eat less food than you or eat less calories than you burn every day, have a little bit of a caloric deficit, you're gonna lose weight. Eventually abs are gonna start popping.
I mean, it's not about starving your way into it. It's about eating the right food.
Yeah, for sure.
The right food.
Yeah. I mean 1800 calories is a lot. It could be one meal at McDonald's or two to three really good meals on the island.
I mean, as a bodybuilder we focused on what are your macros, you know, in order to accomplish these dreams and to look like this vision and where I am now and the timeline associated, how many grams of protein, carbs and fiber do I need to eat a day?
These are things that you outline strength, right?
Yeah. Well, each person's dreams are different, your goals are different. That's what's fun about the word bodybuilding is you can build the body you want. Can't really change your height, but you can grow shoulders, you can grow a butt, you can grow your calves, you can start shaping things for a little bit of a.
You can't grow your calves. Okay. The calves are just ungrowable.
It's important. So you can start again with the right plan and then the right system, you can turn into the vision that you have for yourself. But it takes some planning.
How do you want to build that body?
Building a body, that's the point. You're building a body. It's super fun to watch the changes.
I like when you tell me these things. Cuz I've never taken those words and flipped around. I've always just been bodybuilding, not like building a body.
What's the. That's what it means. I got some.
This is the first time for me.
Explaining to do to you.
This is the first time I was like, oh, okay, that makes perfect sense. But yes, I realized this, right. Like you do have that capacity. And when you're spending money on going out, eating, eating poorly, like you can save so much money just eating and meal prepping again, that's just an easy tip. And if you're not doing it. Why?
I messed it up, though. It's protein, carbs and fats.
Yeah, that's what you said.
Not fiber. I said fiber.
Oh, you said fiber. Well, both are good.
It's important to track those three. Those are the top three to track if you want to actually start shaping your body versus starving your way into something, which is the 1980s way to do things.
No, you don't want to do that.
Then I ate more than it was. So annoying. All you do all day is eat. Just eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat, eat.
Intrusive. But you feel so good. You've got so much energy, clarity of mind, all this stuff because you don't have any junk or processed stuff in you. We're on a tangent. We are on a tangent. But the point is, how can you start to have that long term vision for your life and then ask yourself, what do I have to do in order to physically be there and to be my best self? And if you need a. Like, if you have some really amazing goals about helping a huge amount of people, let's say a billion people or millions of people, you might need a long Runway to accomplish that goal. The only way to lengthen your Runway is to buy yourself as much time as physically capable. Again, what can I control? Things can always happen, of course, but what can you control? You can control what you put in your mouth, you control your supplements, you control your movement. So start investing in that and be like Gabby with no excuses. This chick can't walk and she is doing these insane movements in a wheelchair. She has every excuse in the world to be mad at life and to quit or to just sit there and say, I can't, but she says, I can or how can I? And I just think that's amazingly impressive. And so you might not be able to do this thing, but what can you do? One of my best friends, Whitney Weiser, got freaking run over by an suv. They said she'd never walk again. Less than a year or something, I don't know. The next year or two, she not only is walking, but she's on the Olympia stage as like a top 15 bodybuilder in the whole world. Guess what?
She.
Yeah, whole world. She couldn't lift weights the way she used to be able to lift weights because her back's all, like, jacked. So she had to learn a new way to lift weights and get the same result.
Let's go.
How do you lift weights in a different way in your life around these physical limitations? To still get the results that you want. Let's find a way. And again, if there is a terminal illness in your body and there is a lot going on, obviously we understand there's a lot of grace, but there are solutions and you might be the one called to figure it out. And so you were the one called to pave a way to open the door for this solution for so many other people. Keep focused on what you want. Try to focus on the life you want, the dreams you want, not the dis. Ease.
Come on. Come on.
Easier said than done. Oh, yeah, for sure. Absolutely. Easier said than done. But we have seen too many people healed by having a vision and having the faith to start getting back there. We've heard all these diagnosis of you'll never walk again, and it's hard because it really does work for people.
Might as well try.
Yeah. Yeah, might as well try. I mean, the way I think about this a lot of times is the one that pushes me into that excellence is upgrading my DNA. I don't know if it's real, I don't know if you can do it. It's irrelevant to me. But it's a shift of what I want to do for my lineage, for my family, because I got kids, AKA some boys just run around, lots of men everywhere. I want those boys to produce amazingly healthy children and so on and so forth. But if I can do things now that my dad or my dad's dad or my dad's dad dad or my mom or my mom, so on and so forth, they never done, they've never accomplished, they couldn't even dream possible. If I can start slowly chipping away at those things and then doing them better and doing it for me and doing it for my family's lineage and doing it from a place of servitude. When we do a memorial workout at the aerial, I mean, 95 of the time, I always do it for my Uncle Billy, right. He lost both of his legs in Vietnam. And I would always, ever since I was a kid, would always do anything physical. Anytime I ran, I would always do it for my Uncle Billy. Didn't have legs, right. And again, he was also in a wheelchair. And so being able to just know that I can now do something for him, that if he had the abilities to do, he would do, he would be there. He would, yeah, roll around in the mud and do the workout and do the lunges and do the squats. And so the. The strength for me, the ideal, that future visioning of who you are, that future journaling of what's the greatest, healthiest physical version of that body and what am I doing and how am I doing it? That's what's allowed me to just live at such an optimal physical level and be a ridiculous athlete in my. In my little small vein of athleticism to then just allow that DNA to get upgraded so that I can pass on for future generations.
I love that. I wonder how much of it is actually shifting DNA. I probably don't think versus your kids know what? You set the standard of possibility and now it's possible for them.
True. Yeah, I like that interpretation.
I think we should talk about more of that in the next episode.
Okay. And we shall.
