All right, all right, all right. Welcome guys to the Habit Based Lifestyle Podcast. I'm your host, Jesse Yule and today we're going to be talking with one of our HBL clients, Mr. David Ashworth. David is an amazing. What, what do we call you, man? Stylist or what, what, what's the name you call yourself, man?
Stylist, Personal clothier.
Okay, stylist, Profilist, Personal clothier. This guy helps men, you know, look their best look and feel more confident in their clothes. And you know, guys, if you've never checked out, you know, custom clothing, stuff like that, I mean David's stuff is super legit. So David, can you do like a, a brief, you know, 15, 22nd intro just on, you know, kind of who you are, what you do and what got you started in the clothing industry.
So prior to doing what I'm doing now, I was in the finance world doing banking and then insurance was great but always had a passion for clothes at the time, didn't know if that was something that was just a hobby that I just enjoyed doing or if I could make a career out of it and took the jump going on 10 years now and haven't looked back and been growing ever since.
Awesome, man. So, you know, here you are today. Obviously you know, you found us through, you know, one of your buddies, Vaughn, but can you talk a little bit man about maybe some of the things you were struggling with from a social media perspective when or prior to coming into hbl?
Yeah, so like prior to HBL I was active on some social media stuff but not really Facebook and treated the other social media platforms with more picture based of me but not really asking potential clients direct questions or anything like that. It was just people would like stuff, it was no engagement. And then since Joining it's taught me on the Facebook side, that's where a lot of business goes down and then really focusing. Well, let's.
Let's kind of. Let's back up a little. So you were on social media, kind of using it more a little bit for, you know, let's say personal stuff, not necessarily for business, but you knew there was a business play on there. You just weren't getting anybody to really raise their hand or anybody to say, hey, dude, I want to do business with you.
Yep.
Yeah. So, like, social media was kind of meant more for a social thing. It wasn't really meant for business.
Correct. There was no billboard to say, hey, here's what David does on a day to day basis. Here's how I can help other people.
Right. So, you know, you're. You obviously have a friend, which is how we connected. Kind of a biz partner, essentially. But like, you. You kind of started seeing some of the success, you know, he was having. And then, you know, you even tried to do some of it yourself, you know, like going through that, man, and kind of looking back now outside of like saying specifically what you did, like what. What was kind of that struggle when you initially started to do that and then, you know, which led you eventually to us getting into a conversation.
The big thing kind of watching him do it was seen him go through a lot of coaches, but nothing really success wise that I've seen so quickly. So I was like, oh, that's kind of cool. So I almost copied, okay, here's what he's doing. I can do the same thing. It's not that big of a deal. But at the time I was like, okay, this kind of works. I don't really know, but had no sense of direction. So I was like, I got to reach out to Jesse, see what this is really about. And doing it that way, I was able to dial in, oh, this is what the purpose is behind the questions and the asks and that sort of thing.
Nice. And, you know, once we kind of like you came into our program, once we kind of started working together, man, like, how soon did you really start to see, you know, the results of the program and implementing it?
I'd say implementing it right out of the gate and for me, like, on Facebook was almost starting from scratch. So I started with, say, 200 friends and now over a thousand. And so I think my ramp up time was delayed a little bit because of that. But I started seeing results in 10 to 14 days after we really got started.
Okay, cool. And like, let me Ask you this, man, were you expecting to see results that quickly or, you know, did you think it would take a little bit longer?
I thought it would take a lot longer than it did. They actually did.
Okay. I actually, I think you might have had 201 friends, man, if I don't remember, like, originally.
Yeah, it was, it was something like. Yeah, yeah, it was low.
I mean, so essentially, yeah, you were starting over from scratch on a profile that you hadn't really done anything with for, for a long time, right?
Yeah.
Yeah. Okay, cool. So, all right. So you start getting results, you start seeing the success of that. Like, what was maybe one of the biggest shifts that you noticed initially once you started getting results?
I think one of the big shifts was prior to using it on Facebook, I never kind of really dialed in who my ideal client was. And from Facebook and using the system, I was able to really target. Here's who I want to get in front of, here's who I want to have see my stuff. And that's translated to business from those types of individuals.
I think one of the, you know, one of the first things we talked about, man, was really dialing in, you know, your message, really dialing in your offer. But I think one of the things you're a little bit afraid of was like, oh, dude, I might be turning down people for business. And I think sometimes that's a hesitation for people. But since, you know, you've really been able to dial those things in, has business, you know, gotten better for you or has. Has it gotten worse?
It's gotten better. Doing having a clear, concise offer has made it, in a way also easier.
Yeah, that's awesome, man. So, like, you know, you've been in the program, I think about six weeks. You. You were even a little hesitant on, you know, signing up. You're like, hey, I might need to wait six weeks. And I was like, bro, think about it.
Yeah, don't sit on it. I got to act now and I'm glad I did.
Yeah. So in the last six weeks, like, what have been your results Just from, you know, what you're doing in HBO.
In the past six weeks, just from this. In HBO, I've done just over 75,000 in revenue.
And prior to working with us, you know what, what would you say you were doing on social media?
Maybe 5 or 10,000 at the most. And that would be over, say, a six or eight week period. So not nearly the volume that I've been able to do now in the last six weeks since HBO. Yeah.
That's awesome, man. So like six weeks, you're. You're doing an additional 75k off of basically a place that you weren't currently tapping into it before. Right. And you know, you're just kind of getting started. But you know, the cool thing is you've already seen the success, you've seen the results of it. What has maybe been an unexpected result, man, of you coming into our program.
I would say one of the big ones would be the way to approach how to really talk to people through social media. Prior to doing this, I didn't, other than your normal kind of talk lingo with people, I didn't know how to ask direct questions, how to figure out what their issues or problems were. So found figuring that out and learning that aspect of it, I think is translated even off of Facebook to just texting and other social media platforms.
So you feel like learning that skill has really leveled up your game, you know, in the way you communicate to people, in the way that you ask right questions and also getting them to come in. And so like, what has that done for your level of confidence, man, when you're, when you're actually communicating on social media or even with people in person?
It's helped me because in this figuring out and asking the right questions, it's put me in front of the right people because it's almost like a weeding out process. So it shows me, okay, who's really wants to jump in, who wants to meet, who wants to change how they look and feel in their clothes to the ones that are just almost like where I was prior to hbo. Just thinking about it, don't really want to take the jump and it's okay. You're not for me, I'm ready for the ones ready to take some action.
Right? Yeah, no, that's good, man. I, I think, you know, one of the things that we think about is like this. There's a skill required nowadays to communicate, you know, through social media and through text that, you know, say three, four years ago, five years ago, you know, used to be able to call people on a phone, nobody answers the phone now, you know, and now you have that skill of having to learn how to communicate in text, dms, you know, and stuff like that. And I think what's cool is that you can take your skills, your knowledge and kind of plug it into what we're doing. And so it gives you, you know, a lot more confidence, man. Like, what has, what is that program done for you from a perspective of knowing that, hey, I Can. I can work a certain amount of time on social media, and I can make sure that turns into a sale, you know, and, you know, quite frankly, like, dude, I mean, you're averaging right now about $12,000 a week in sales. I don't know if you know that or not, but, you know, what is that. What does that do for you when you're on social media now, knowing you can make money where before you were just kind of one of the guys that's, hey, I'm just scrolling through content now. You're actually one of the guys producing, and you got people consuming your content.
It gives me now, like, a purpose on Facebook other than before, like, just scrolling through as a social kind of thing now. It's like, there's a purpose behind. There's a passion behind it that I want other people to share and do business from.
Awesome, man. And tell me, you know, maybe like, from a coaching perspective, maybe, like, what's been the. One of the biggest lessons you've learned from some of the coaching that's taken place in our program?
I'd say the accountability and the consistency. So teaching got to be consistent with it. You got to do this. You got to learn how to walk before you can run. And here's the right steps that you have to do to do that through Facebook. And what I've kind of learned through the different coaches through the program.
Awesome, man. And you know, what has been. I think some people don't. Don't recognize the community aspect of what we do. But what is the community meant for you? Just.
Super encouraging and supportive. Calls people out when they need to be called out, but not from a. Making them feel bad, but just like, oh, that's a constructive criticism on how you can do something better the next time you do it.
Yeah, no, that's good, man. So, you know, going forward, obviously, you know, you've even started to make some. Some shifts up in what you're doing now in getting deeper into content. Like, what is that shift in content kind of helped you do, man, versus, like, before, we were just kind of warming things up. Now you're really starting to dive into content and really make, like. I kind of think of you like an artist, right? You're starting to bring your art into the science of what we do and have a little more freedom. Like, what's that done for you, man?
The big thing is, like, everyone to some degree, is a visual person. So putting something out there that they might not know what they want, but they know what they want if they See it. So putting pictures out there and not just describing something in a post, but putting a picture, putting a real. Putting a video that people can be like, oh, that's what I. Like, that's what I'm looking for. Has helped the traffic through Facebook and different people, because they're seeing things that, okay, I can. They can relate to it. It fits with their lifestyle. And then they reach out to me, like, okay, how do I achieve this?
That's awesome, man. So, yeah, now you have, you know, you got your own people now reaching out to you, like, hey, man, I want to buy this outfit. Like, how do I do it? Or I want to buy this. So it's really getting you into more sales conversation. I think the other cool thing is, is you're. You work in a brick and mortar business, but a lot of these people you're meeting, you're meeting virtually, which you weren't really doing before. So now you're almost like, you know, able to expand your reach and, you know, grow your client list from that alone. You know, talk just briefly about what that's like for you.
It's been. I've kind of had to shift my mindset in a way because it's almost like I'm working in two stores. I've got my brick and mortar store I'm in Monday through Saturday, but then also have the social media Facebook side too. If people are having to talk to you, communicate with. So structuring your. My day in a way where I'm not necessarily glued to Facebook all day, answering people when I need to be handling appointments and stuff inside the brick and mortar store has been a good challenge now to be able to, okay, I got like two stores I have to keep up with and people have to talk to, which I didn't have that problem before, but it's a good problem to have now.
That's awesome, man. So let me ask you this, like, what would you tell someone who is maybe on the fence of joining our program? Maybe similar thing as you is like, oh, I got to think about it. What would you tell them?
I would say don't think about it. Jump in and do it. Because the tools that they teach you apply to Facebook and everything else, but applied personally too. I've change things up personally, but this group has definitely helped out in a huge way as well. So I wouldn't think about it. I'd jump in and just get rolling.
That's awesome, man. Well, hey, thank you so much, man. We really appreciate you as not only a client, but a friend. Super proud of the results you're getting and can't wait to see what you're doing next.
I appreciate it. Thank you, Jesse.
