Let's go.
All right, all right, all right. Welcome to the Habit based lifestyle show and I'm your host, Jesse Yule. Almost forgot the. I was the host. Almost forgot my own intro. But today I want to talk about the cold plunge effect. So if you guys are listening to this, you know, and you've probably heard previous episodes where I talk a lot about cold plunging, the benefits of it, but I want to talk to you today about the cold plunge effect and really how this relates to business because I think this is an overlooked aspect of business. So I want to kind of preface this and imagine that there's three different types of people who cold plunge, okay? So if you're a business owner, you probably can relate to this. If you're not a business owner, you can relate to this by decision making. Okay? So if you guys know cold plunge, obviously it's cold, okay? But what happens a lot of times in cold plunging is we're in one of three scenarios. Scenario one is we walk around the cold plunge. We think about everything that we could do other than cold plunge. We think about things that maybe we can clean, things maybe we're forgetting to do. We think about all of those things. We think about everything other than actually cold plunging. We think about how bad it's going to be, how cold it's going to be, and so we just keep walking around and circling the outside. Okay, that's number one. Number two is the person who gets halfway in and decides it's too cold, maybe they dip their toe in, they decide it's too painful, and then they immediately retreat and retract and, and never actually end up getting back in. They only ever get about halfway in. Now this person obviously thinks about doing stuff. They're often, you know, someone who gets in their own head, gets in their own way and then decides that maybe it was a bad idea or maybe it was a sign and they shouldn't actually get all the way in. It's a sign they shouldn't do it at all. Then there's the other person who just gets in and kind of figures it out. When they get in, they find their breath, they figure out how to work their way through it, but ultimately they take the risk, they move forward, they take a chance and they kind of figure it out as they go. That person is much more resilient. That person is much more decisive. And they know it's going to be painful, but they don't really care. They know they're probably going to get judged for it, maybe just showing how cold it is, but they don't care. What they care about is results. They care about, you know, just getting done. And so I want to relate this because I was thinking about the cold plunge today, this morning during my workout. And I was thinking about, man, cold plunging is a lot like business where in business we can build something, we can create something, and literally we can begin to circle the thing that we created. You know, think about the cold plunge. Now nowadays is everybody has, you know, you have a refrigeration system that keeps it cold. So we have the ability to keep the temperature colder where just say like four or five years ago, that wasn't even really something that they could do. But what's been cool about this is that nowadays you can keep your cold plunge, you know, cold all the time. You don't even need to buy ice. But in creating that, it's also created our ability to, you know, circle, you know, circle the cold plunge. So in business we create, we do these things to make our business better, maybe even the launch a new offer. But I was thinking about that. We wait to launch, we wait to put it out there. We get in our head, we get in our own way. We think about every reason it might not work. We think about every reason to not do it versus just actually doing it. And so we just continue to circle. We're like, hey, we need more information. Oh, I need to get like this next thing done and then I'll be able to launch. It's like we just get filled up with hesitation procrastination. We ruminate on just moving forward. And I kind of caught myself in this same place this morning. And then I'm like, okay. So then there's the other person who does all that and is like, okay, I think I'm ready to launch. They launch, they dip their toe in, they put their leg in, and then they're like, oh, this is too painful. I can't handle it, so I'm going to get out. This is the person in business who launches. Maybe doesn't get. Maybe doesn't get the response they're looking for. Maybe he doesn't get anybody interested. And so they immediately retract. They immediately retreat. They kind of go hide in a turtle shell in a hole before they build up the courage to actually try to get into the cold plunge again or actually try to launch something. Okay, this. This person I might call more of the turtle shell person, but this is the effect the cold plunge has on you because all these three stages are kind of what you go through when you first get one. And then as you get more resilient, you end up being in the third scenario. The third scenario is just the person who's like, hey, listen, I know it's going to be painful. I know I'm probably going to mess up. I know it's going to get really uncomfortable, but I don't really give a shit. I'm going to launch, I'm going to get in. I'm going to do this anyways. I know I'm going to have a lot of stories, but I'm just going to figure it out as I go. That's the business owner that's taking the risk. That's the business owner that knows it's. It's going to be painful. Like it's not going to be perfect. But he's going to do it anyways because he knows that getting halfway in isn't going to get you the results you want. Circling the cold plunge, thinking about the ideas isn't going to get you as much experience as you actually getting all the way in, immersing yourself and really just walking through this. So as I was sitting there, I'm in my workout, and I've launched a program with some clients called the VIP weight loss program. But it's been taking up a lot of time, so much time to where it's actually affected another offer that I wanted to put out there. And in doing that, you know, I got the cold plunge effect. I got the effect of I'm just circling, you know, the offer, circling the cold plunge, getting in my head, holding myself back, thinking about everything that can go wrong. And here's the crazy thing is, a lot of times in business we, we know what's holding other people back. I mean, we can point it out, we can even admit it. The hard thing is, is sometimes we don't see our own blind spots to that until we actually step out of the day to day stuff. And. And I'm like, man, I'm showing up in my business kind of like the cold plunge scenario number one, where I'm just circling, oh, I need more information or I need this other thing just to launch it because it's not perfect. And then you kind of end up, you know, in the perfection loop trying to just, hey, I got to do one more thing. I gotta make some more information or I gotta do this before I launch. And it just ends up holding us back from ever actually doing it. And then I recognize it this morning and I'm like, you know what? I'm just gonna go launch it today. I'm gonna launch it to my group first. I'm gonna take it there, and then I'll take it to the next step, knowing it's not all the way done, it's not all the way perfect, But I'm gonna figure it out a lot more by launching it than I am by waiting, hesitating, and doing all those things. And so I'm like, man, this is what cold plunging is. This was like my first week of cold plunging. It was like the. The worse it gets worse, the more we think about it, the more we walk around the outside with, the more we don't launch, it gets more painful. I don't know about you, but, like, if you put your leg in halfway with the cold plunge, it's 10 times worse. Or you dip your toe in, it's 10 times worse than just getting all in and getting over with it. Here's the other thing. You carry the stress, you carry the energy, you carry the pressure. When you don't get in two to three times more, it's two to three times more heavy, it's two to three times more colder than it is if you actually get in. And the story becomes even worse and more debilitating when you don't get in or you get halfway in and you get out than it ever does when you actually get fully in. And so that's the same thing with business. The story of fear, the story of why you can't launch, the story of all those things is way worse and way more painful than actually doing it, taking the risk than actually getting into the cold plunge. And so I want you to consider that there may be a part of your life, of your health, maybe even in your business, that you have the cold plunge effect. You're too busy Circling the outside, waiting to launch, waiting to get all the way in, hesitating. And that is more painful and taking up more energy than if you actually just went all in. You just actually took the risk and stepped all the way into your business. And so that's really what this is about today. So if you're someone who may be struggling, think about it, hey, is this in your body? Maybe you've been hesitating on making some changes. Maybe it's in your business, you've been wanting to launch an offer or program for a while. Well, guess what, here's your sign to begin doing that. Or maybe you're someone who likes to get halfway in, decide it's too much pain, too much pain, it hurts too much and you're just going to get out. So whatever scenario you're in, define it, then decide that you're going to make a shift and you need to do it immediately. Now, I wrote down on mine that, hey, in the next two to four hours, I'm going to launch. I launched it. You know what's crazy is I already have eight people that I got to get on a call with. I've already closed two of them. And if I wouldn't have launched, I wouldn't have put it out there. I wouldn't have done that. And that's just in the first few hours. And so think about that. You may be waiting to, for things to be just perfect, just right. You might be hesitating, but it's the cold plunge effect of there's nothing that works better than just getting all the way in and figuring it out as you go. Being all in with it. That's the number one way you're gonna get results. So if you guys have any questions on this, you, you wanna find me on social media, you can simply find me at Jesse Yule on Instagram.
