Welcome back to the Habit Based Lifestyle Podcast. I'm, I'm your host, Jesse Yule. Today I got a very special guest, Dr. Nick Ninga. He's out of Des Moines, Iowa. Nick, I want to welcome you to the show.
Hey, thanks brother. Thanks for having me.
Yeah. So Nick is a chiropractor. How long you been practicing, Nick?
I've been in private practice for 17 years, man.
Okay, cool. So chiropractor, 17 years. And we've been working together a little over three years actually became business partners earlier this year, which we'll get into. But Nick, for those of us that may not know who you are or know nothing about you, what got you started in the chiropractic industry?
Oh, well, you know, I grew up in a small town, northwest Iowa. Just there's a really passionate chiropractor where I grew up and about a town of 9,000 people. He just had a lot of influence, man. He was living a great life, living a healthy life back in the 80s and 90s and was really kind of forward thinking then. And he really impressed a lot of students in this small school that I was going to. And so I was just really following the footsteps of a lot of what I considered successful, you know, enduring people. And so that's really what inspired me. And ultimately as I made those decisions in college, my sister was dating a chiropractic student at the time and thought, man, this is something that would suit you well. You should really look at this profession. And so once I took a closer look at it, I put those together and just kind of jumped in then.
That's awesome, man. What, you know, early on, what were some of the things you struggled with in, in chiropractic once you kind of like opened up your own business? Yeah.
So you know Just all the things. When you're in Cairo school, they teach you everything you need to know about the body, how it works and how to, how to adjust. But you know nothing about running a business, training staff and acquiring new patients. And so I'm thankful I opened up my own practice from the get go through those formative like struggling years when I was young. But really it was just how to, how to get, acquire how to retain patients in that sense. And that, that took a lot of work, understanding how to understand chiropractic, how to get people well, but how to, you know, build a practice around that. So those really were the struggle points early on in my, my career.
Awesome, man. So, you know, how did you, you know, how did you kind of progress or work through that as far as like understanding business and understanding how your office worked? Like, how long did it really take you to kind of figure, figure that out?
It definitely took a handful of years to get the systems down. So, you know, the good thing was, is I had a support group. I mean, I was, and I still am a member of Pinnacle Chiropractic System, which taught me the foundations of how to run a successful practice. What to say, what you know, how to design your practice for maximum efficiency, how to train staff, how to communicate with people in a simple, effective way. And that, you know, was really helpful in that first decade as I was establishing my practice. So just definitely I invested a lot of time and resources into coaching and that chiropractic space. So that was really probably the biggest thing I did with Pinnacle was that training to get my mindset, understand chiropractic and how to, you know, how to run the business side.
Yeah, no, that's good, man. So like the biggest thing, you know, I'm hearing you say is coaching is, is one of the things that really helped you be successful. Like how long did you recognize that you needed coaching when you started your, your business to like actually doing it? Because I think a lot of times people think, well, I'll start coaching when I'm stuck versus, you know, maybe being a little more proactive about it.
That's right. So I mean, I was a member of this group as a student.
Okay.
I was coaching six to 12 months before I even started my practice.
Okay.
And I stayed coaching throughout, you know, and I was, as I was developing a high volume practice in the upper 200s, 300 a week range, I was coaching every step of the way.
Okay, cool. It's. So primarily, you know, the model of what you learned was strictly chiropractic. Tell me a little bit about, like, that model and why you kind of began to shift the way you think about chiropractic to adding maybe some different niche services into your clinic.
Yeah, great question, man. I mean, that model is great for delivering chiropractic because it really, the emphasis is strictly on the adjustment. So that model trained me how to speak less. I mean, there were times I was trying to speak less than 10 words in a, in a visit. And so they were training me how to be maximum efficiency, you know, so I could see patients in less than a minute, and I was trying to get my volume up the whole time. And so, you know, that model, I mean, it was just so chiropractic focused. Like I said, in the chiropractic world, it's what I would consider the best model if you just want to adjust.
Okay, so go ahead. So talk, talk a little bit about the model as far as like that business model versus, like, when did you actually start looking at, like, hey, I think I may want to add some different niche services?
Well, it was definitely after, you know, Kim had been working with you and had gotten back into her nutrition coaching. And as I saw her business expanding and, you know, that reach in the, in the virtual world and that more scalable world, it really started to help me see what is possible for me as well in my practice. Because, look, 70% or more in the Midwest here where I live, most people are carrying extra weight, and all of my patients that would lie down on my table, I realized I could help them only so much through an adjustment. And once I saw the results my wife was getting through her program and as you were helping her build that in that virtual model, I kind of got jealous, honestly, in a sense, I was like, that looks like a lot more fun. And I love going deeper with people in that coaching aspect and getting to the root cause of what's really wrong with their bodies. Now, like I said, chiropractic is amazing, but it's only so far reaching. When somebody is metabolically broken and they're just sick inside and that cell and their body is, is ill, that adjustment really isn't going to move the needle for them as much as helping them learn the foundations of nutrition. Right. Of a, of a healthy lifestyle. And so once I saw the fun and the results she was having in the income, I was like, how do I do this too?
Yeah, so let's touch a little bit on, you know, one, there's, there's kind of a common thing that goes around that Says, hey, chiropractors shouldn't do weight loss or nutrition programs. Like, what is your take on that? Were you kind of a believer in that in the beginning and then you begin to kind of shift your perspective or like, how did that work?
Yeah, definitely a believer in that philosophy. I mean, like I said, 17 years or so, 16 years, I was like, if it doesn't have anything to do with chiropractic, I didn't want it in my practice, you know, and as I was trying to scale to the high volume philosophy, and I think a lot of chiropractors still adhere to that, that 80s 90s mentality of the warehouse chiropractor who is trying to adjust as many human bodies as possible is like, man, after a while that grind just gets to be exhausting and mentally is hard to keep up with. Right. So, you know, as I just, as I saw people, as I saw what was possible, you know, with them, that transition was really pretty easy because I knew I was helping my patient get to the root cause of their health problem.
Yeah. And tell me why, like, adjusting people that are, you know, 30, 40 pounds overweight, I mean, although it might help them, is that really addressing, you know, the root cause? So, like, how much better is that person really going to get by an adjustment only, or do they need a different type of adjustment to really begin to see the success, you know, and see the health that they really want to see?
Yeah, I agree, man. I mean, 25, 30 pounds of visceral fat, belly fat is just causing so much inflammation in their body. And so that chronic pain, that low back pain, that knee pain, that those headaches, that neck pain, the root cause of that really, if we're really being honest, is probably their belly fat as opposed to that misalignment in their spine. Now, do they have structural insufficiencies? Absolutely. Do those need to be addressed? Absolutely. But like the vertebral subluxation or the metabolic subluxations, Right. What is the root cause of their health and what is a bigger risk factor to their overall longevity? To me, as I started looking at it was the metabolic subluxations that I was able to start addressing. So, so that, look, once you get rid of that belly fat and lose that weight and lower that inflammation, guess what? Their body starts to heal way better. So it's just a matter of having the right system, the right tools to do it. Because, look, the way we've done it, the one on one model is exhausting.
Right.
No chiropractor would have enough Time or energy to help his patient base that way. And that's where I think a lot of people get stuck.
Yeah. So tell me why the model of chiropractic on a business is probably not the most successful model when it comes to maybe being financially independent of, like, always having to be in your office, in your clinic, adjusting people? Because that's. That's what a lot of, you know, chiropractor coaches are teaching today, right?
Yeah, yeah. Like I said, it works really well, but only can take you so far. I mean, if you aren't there physically adjusting for, you know, those days to get to that volume, to get to that income level. I mean, we're talking in a lot of instances where I live in Iowa, $40, $50 visits. Like, you have to stack a lot of those visits up to get to a high income.
Right.
That just requires all that time at the table. Physically, it's exhausting. Mentally, just being in the practice is demanding. And even if you do the associate, right, if you have the associate, then you're basically training them and you're overseeing them, and you've got to feed them new business as well. So, I mean, you're really kind of stuck to that grind. Regardless of which way you go with that, it's great. I mean, it can work. It's just.
Tell me, like, why it doesn't work. Because, like, you know, let's say you want to go on vacation, you don't have an associate. I mean, technically, you have to close your office down, and then nobody's getting adjusted. So, like, what was that stress like for you in kind of like that business model?
Exactly. I mean, every time I would take a vacation, I would mentally, I would go to this place of, you know, frustration because that vacation wasn't going to cost me what the vacation cost, the five, $10,000, it was going to cost me that, plus, you know, the loss I had of people not coming in for adjustments that week so that I would see it as a 15 to 18, $20,000 vacation. And, you know, you just get to that point where you just get stuck and frustrated because you literally. You have to be there in order for the income to keep coming in.
Got it. Yeah. I mean, I kind of look at it as. There's really two models, right? There's either the associate or there's just. You adjust more people. You know, one is going to be more of a burnout model. The other one is going to be more of a, hey, I may have to change my associate every one and a Half to two years. And so the model is, is, is a difficult model to sustain, like long term without burning out. Right. So like tell me why. Obviously you saw me working with Kim, you saw her really kind of take off and grow her business and then you guys really like partnered in, in creating a weight loss program. So kind of talk to me about that transition of what made you guys go to that and begin to co create a different model of business again.
I think I just saw what was possible with the model, the scalable, the virtual aspect of it. And, and I loved that I could control my own destiny. Meaning like the work I put in, in that virtual space, whether it was through my content creation, through getting my message out on social media, I could control that. And when that came back to me, it came back tenfold. Whereas if I go into the practice, I don't always know marketing wise if I'm going to be getting new patients that week or if I want to work harder. I just meant I'd have to go out and do more talks or more in office events or whatever that looked like just was always more work. And now it's like I can go into this virtual space, do my work that I connect deeper to my message and my philosophy and I get more of the reward, you know, I get more time back, I get more of that satisfaction. I'm reaching more people with the message. And so yeah, when I saw, when I saw what Kim was doing and the root cause effect of it, I just wanted to be, I wanted to be a part of it, support her, you know, because I saw what was possible, man. I mean, the freedom that it would bring us financially in time and we could control our own schedules and, and we could kind of come together and create something really special. And that's really, I think the root of it was, I love the most, was just kind of working closer with my wife and building a new, new business together, really.
So what, you know, being that I think you started the VIP weight loss program, you, you guys actually launched it. I, I want to say it was March of 2023 or February of 2023. Like, what was that like for you guys? Kind of in that first year of.
Doing that, I mean, looking back, man, those were some of the most exciting times of our life. I mean, building a program and launching it out into the world was so thrilling and exciting. It was a lot of work, but it was so rewarding. I mean, once that message, as you taught us how to get those messages out there and how to launch that and create and cultivate that organic interest. It started just to. I mean, it started to grow every month over month. It just grew incrementally, and we just kept it very simple, very basic as we scaled. And that was just really amazing to see kind of how that worked. I mean, it was. It was just exciting, man. Just to sum it up, it was. It was the thrill of a lifetime.
Yeah. And I mean, I think the cool thing too is obviously, you know, you learned how to market, which was something that you probably never were really taught in.
Right.
You know, the program you were in. But, like, what did that do for you as far as confidence, understanding how to market, and understanding how to kind of put a message out into the marketplace and build a brand. Right. Virtually. That was completely separate and different from, like, your practice.
Yeah, it was awesome. I mean, it takes. It takes some guts to put yourself out there at first and put a message and a brand together. And then it also just to kind of stay consistent with that while you kind of go through those fear factor moments of like, what are people going to think about me if I make this post or do this? But once you just do show up in that space consistently and you overcome those fear factors, your confidence grows every time you make a post or every time you connect with your audience. It's just. It was like I said, just an incredible experience to kind of have that personal transformation of not caring what people think about me anymore, having something to say, having a program, having a system that we felt truly solved root cause problems in people's health and just standing behind that, you know, with our content.
Yeah, no, that's awesome.
Bringing that to the market and just kind of willpower, you know, making sure it stayed. And it was cool. That was probably, like I said, man, I just consider one of it probably the greatest experience in my professional lifetime is having. Having done that.
Yeah, no, that's awesome. And you know, the fact that. What was that like for you to add that to kind of like chiropractic, you know, and. And have that ax, have people have access to that as well, not just chiropractic, but now you have a completely different business model that's not about trading time for money and you're able to leverage some of the current clients you already have that can grow, you know, that business as well. What was that like for you?
It. In the end, looking back, it's. It's like a relief now knowing that I have cause. Look, chiropractors are notorious. Like, they'll. They'll give an adjustment. They'll go to the door, they'll open up the door and be like, hey, make sure you're drinking enough water, or hey, make sure you take your vitamin D. And they give out these, like, you know, this silly advice that patients don't ever really do. And so once I had a system that I could fall back on that like, gave them all the tools they would need, I realized that, like, I can help anybody with any problem with the system that we created. Right? And so I realized that, like, there was really no condition, Cholesterol, blood pressure, chronic pain, you know, a lot of things. Was like, the world is now wide open and it's not just, hey, do you know anybody that has neck pain or low back pain? And so it just opened up so many doors.
That's awesome. Well, tell me why you believe that. You know, obviously we're heading into 20, 25, like, who is this system? You know, now that you're able to offer this system, VIP weight loss system, why do more chiropractors need this in their clinics?
Well, I mean, look, I think, I think it's clear we've. We're in the middle of a healthcare crisis, man. And like, we have been for a really long time. And now that were through Covid and all of that, that, that was, you know, whatever it was. I think Americans are waking up realizing that we have an epidemic, an obesity epidemic still. And we did before COVID Right. Who's doing anything about it and who's best suited to do something about it? The primary, primary docs aren't doing anything about it. They're just gonna continue to prescribe medications. Right. So who is better suited to do this work? And I think chiropractors are most uniquely suited because a, we have great relationships with our clients. You know, we were the leaders in complementary medicine, meaning we're as busy as everybody else is out there. We're seeing a lot of people, right? And so who's best served to have a holistic, you know, lifestyle based program that can solve these root problems for, you know, the people that are sick than chiropractors, but it's going to require them to open up their minds a little bit and like, stop thinking that the chiropractic adjustment is going to solve all the problems that this health that this country faces in our healthcare crisis.
Is it important?
Yeah, man. I mean, people need to be adjusted. It's great for the nervous system, it's great for all of these things, structural integrity, but it's not going to help the majority of those people that are so stuck and their health without any ideas on how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Tell me, tell me a little bit about, like, you know, year one, the revenue you were able to generate, you know, with you and your wife as kind of a separate business, you know, what were you guys able to do kind of in your first year? I know it wasn't a full year, but like, you know, what were you guys able to do?
Year one was, was like nine months. We did six to 700,000.
Okay, cool. And you guys are on track, you know, to do seven, right? Around seven figures this year.
That's right. Just looked at those numbers last week. Yep, we're. We're knocking on the door of seven figures.
So, like being a chiropractor that, you know, you're kind of trading time for money to having another business now that's, you know, basically a seven figure business. Like, dude, what does that do for you as far as, like, peace of mind, but also, you know, realizing that, like, you're helping a lot more people kind of at a root cause level. Like, what has that been like for you guys?
It's incredible. I mean, it's incredible. I mean, we're living out our purpose of helping people actually get fully healthy. Right. And I adjust less. I have less hours in the clinic when I'm there, I love being there. I don't have to be there anymore. I want to be in the practice. I want to be adjusting because I still connect with that chiropractic philosophy. But now I can go in and do it because I want to, not because I have to. And that's been the greatest gift, you know, for me personally, is that taken me out of that grind, that mentality of having to go there, you know, and sell chiropractic. And I can just do it because I want to, man, because I choose it.
That's awesome. So tell me, like, your top three things you've kind of gotten out of this business that, you know, maybe you weren't able to get from the traditional chiropractic model?
Yeah, it's a great question. I mean, first thing that came to mind was like, I found my voice, I found my. I think I found my passion, you know. And the second thing, financial freedom. I mean, that's probably actually the biggest. I mean, just having the financial freedom to do what you want and, you know, that's awesome. So, I mean, confidence, financial freedom, and I would say it just has rejuvenated my passion, my spirit for helping people in this new way.
Yeah, that's awesome. What about, you know, just partnering with your wife too? Man, that's gotta be pretty, pretty cool to be able to, you know, she's not a chiropractor, you're not a dietitian. But you guys together, you know, what you're able to do is pretty incredible also.
Yeah, thank you. And it has been the gift, greatest gift, one of the greatest gifts to our marriage to be able to work together in this capacity, support each other. It's not always easy, you know, it takes support, you know, and growing in our marriage this way and in business together is incredible. It's something, you know, you wake up out of bed and you're just excited. You're excited to work closely with your wife or your partner, your spouse. And I think there's a lot of chiropractors out there and wellness enthusiasts in this space that have a similar structure that my wife and I have that I think could easily leverage a system that we have, work more closer together and have more financial freedom, have more clarity of their purpose and synergize. And I think that's what I'm looking forward to most. As we kind of move into the New Year's with our VIP program, Jesse is like finding those people that, that want to do that kind of work.
Yeah, yeah. Let's talk a little bit about like the VIP system. So Nick and Nick, his wife Kim and myself, we launched the VIP weight loss system to, you know, health professionals, practitioners, chiropractors, and we kind of launched this back in June. And you know, we've taken about 15 to 20 chiropractors, doctors, and even, you know, some of them their spouses. But like, let's talk about the system first. As far as, you know, there's a lot of other weight loss programs in the chiropractic space. Like, what really makes this different from everything else out there. And then we'll kind of get into more specifics on the business side.
Yeah, sure.
So talk to me about, like, you know, there's a lot of obvious weight loss programs in the chiropractic space. What, what makes the VIP weight loss system different from the nutrition and kind of like medical side?
I mean, look, it's, I mean, it's whole food based, number one. I mean, we're, we're not, we're not pushing supplements, quick fix products, anything like that that I think it's something that our profession and I don't think a lot of professions have ever even seen before because of the abilities now with technology to put these trainings into the lifestyle, into the habit based stuff. So I mean, we're giving our clients sustainable tools, whole food tools to succeed long after we work with them. And so we're not creating a dependent patient that's going to need to come back to us to go through another weight loss journey because they gained the weight back or, or they are gonna have to subscribe to a supplement line for two, three, five years or whatever that looks like. We're giving them 100% of the tools that they're gonna need to succeed with whole food nutrition.
So the biggest thing is when we look at it from a nutritional standpoint, the clients of the VIP weight loss system, it's all whole food based, which means, you know, I know there's kind of three main things that we address which are detoxifying the liver, improving, you know, gut health, and then fixing people's metabolism. So essentially we're going to heal people from the inside out and we're going to address these three key things because let's face it, when it comes to weight loss or any of that, these are major contributors into whether or not somebody has success or not. And we do it all with like whole foods. So we're not relying on supplements to do this like a lot of the other programs out there. I'm not going to get into specifics, but your program's based off, you know, reduce, restricting calories, cutting out food groups and relying strictly on supplements. You know, my biggest question mark is, is, well, how sustainable is that? When we talk about, you know, six months, nine months, a year down the road, how many of those people go back to, you know, where they were and then they have to redo the program again because they've gained all their weight back. And that's, you know, I know for, for us, when we launched the VIP weight loss system, that was one of the main things that we looked at was what is the sustainability of our program? And then we factored in, well, hey, here's some lifestyle habits that somebody really needs to focus on in order to achieve the results. So like teaching your clients about habits, you know, versus restriction, like, what is that like for you as far as, like when you get into the coaching of that versus someone who may be on a macro plan or you know, intermittent fasting or some, some of these kind of like buzzwords. But like, what is that like for a coach to focus on habits and habit building versus restriction?
Well, I mean, it's awesome because you're not going through their plan and putting their food in and counting up their points or their calories or their macros and giving them back to them. That's a perfectionistic model. We get to, as coaches, really get more into the why, the transformative aspects of the journey, which is when you break through there and you help somebody fix their mindset. Because of the way we get to coach and work with them. Yes, we still give them all the tools, the framework, you know, on how to do their portions and how to balance their meals, but we keep it really easy for them. And then when we break through, through the transformative coaching that we do and how we teach, that's where the true success comes, man. Because then people aren't. We don't. We don't say we're not. They're not learning to rely on a supplement. They're not learning to rely on a product. They've learned to rely on their own discipline, on their own lifestyle choices. And once they feel empowered, sure, some kind of struggle with that. But the majority of the people we work with, once they're done with us, they're empowered, they're equipped, they've got the tools mentally and physically in place to run the race, you know, and that's the true. I mean, if it had been done successfully in any profession, we wouldn't still be in the middle of an obesity epidemic. Right. I mean, you have to focus on the mindset. You have to focus on, you know, the habits. And that's what our system does.
Yeah. And really, I mean, let's, let's be honest. You know, behavior change comes down to habit change. And if we don't change somebody's habits, I mean, essentially they're probably going to go back to, you know, what they were doing before. And so the default mechanism, if I don't teach somebody new habits to replace old bad habits, they, they tend to go back to those old bad habits. Let's talk about kind of the medical side because, you know, obviously, you know, we're able to provide a medical provider who, who is overseeing the clinics, overseeing the patients. Like what? Tell me a little bit more about that and why that's so important when it comes to weight loss.
Yeah, I mean, look, we're using the most targeted, precise peptides. You know, I know there's a lot of people talking about peptides out there, and some of them now are supplement based. And regardless of what those claims are and what they say they are, you know, it's really just a matter of, you know, with ours, you know, Jesse, these are prescription. And the reason that they're prescription is because they work so targeted and they work so well. So, I mean, to have access to these, what I would call real peptides, you need to make sure you're using them safely and responsibly. Right. And so that's the reason for that physician step, so that, you know, our medical director in our program, as you know, Jesse, she's got years of experience working with prescription GLP1. Right. Yeah, that. I mean, that is just, it's. It's an amazing gift she gives our clients to have that experience, to know, you know, how we can dose on the lowest level with our program, you know, how that. What that looks like, you know, for minimum side effects. And as you know, I mean, we don't see hardly any side effects, if any at all, in our program because we're not relying on a high dose of this product. I mean, we're using a very targeted approach and. Yeah, man. So, I mean, it's just when you. When you're working with the real stuff, you really have to have those, you know, experts in place to make sure you're doing it safely and responsibly.
Yeah. So let's talk about, like, you know, because I know there's really two sides to this. We looked at, you know, having a medical provider, you know, possibly come in to your clinic and you know, how expensive that is for a chiropractor. I mean, some of the programs out there. Yeah, you know, they're charging 60, 80, 100k just to have a medical provider oversee their clinic. But the cool thing is, is like, there's also a lot of legal. There's also a lot of other things that have to happen. But like, our program and what we've created is we can basically essentially have someone overseeing a clinic without having to obviously pay all that for the medical provider. But it's also set up very quickly compared to, like, when you guys first started. I mean, it was kind of a nightmare in the beginning when you tried to launch your own. So maybe talk a little bit about that.
Yeah. You know, this year I've done a lot of work on the legal side of things for our business. And I'll tell you, it's interesting world out there, and every state is unique in its own way, but we've worked through that, and now we have a medical director and we have a system and a legal entity in place that can quickly onboard through service contracts and agreements, more providers, and we can make legal agreements for compliance. So now anybody virtually in any state, Jesse, in America, we can quickly establish a legal relationship with a licensed prescriber. And we know how to do that in a compliant and legal way. And so you're right, you don't have to go hire somebody or build your own relationship and figure out a pay structure and manage all that. We're doing that for them. I mean, we're literally going to be managing even the, the, the payment between them, you know, and so we're going to make it as easy as possible. We already have made it as easy as possible for anybody to work with a licensed prescriber in this area in this capacity.
No, that's great, man. So, you know, not only do we have the nutrition, we have the medical provider, medical oversight, but we also have certification process that someone would need to go through in order to get certified in the program. And then there's also also the coaching, accountability, support, community building aspect, which, you know, personally for me, being in the health and fitness space for over 20 years, let's just cut out medication, cut out all of that. You take that out of a program, somebody is going to have 60 less results. If we just cut out coaching, accountability, support and community from that aspect, man. Like what, what do you see for people who actually do those things versus someone who may go to kind of a mom and pop, you know, med spa or a place that just gives them peptides. Like, what are you seeing? Because I know in our program we're starting to see a lot of people come from those places that are not getting results because they're not addressing, they're not being coached, they're not being held accountable and they don't have a strong support system. So what has that been like for you to be able to offer that?
Yeah, I mean, we're through a lot of this now. We've been in, you know, the GOP ones have been out long enough now where we are starting to see, we see it all the time. And I mean, Kim and I, we probably have one to four a month. People come in, they're like, I've been on this peptide or I've done this for months and I've not lost a single pound, you know, so that's the thing. And we see it often, we see it all the time, you know, so it really, as you're saying, man, echo your point, it always comes back. I don't care what it is, if it's supplements that you're using or if it's the prescription. If you don't have the lifestyle and the dietitian designed nutrition plan that we have that works. You're right, you're gonna spin out, you're maybe not even going to lose weight. And if you do whatever you did to get there, if you stop it, guess what's going to happen? It's coming back. And so we pride ourselves, man. That's been our focus from the start. We're not a product company. We don't really sell product. We don't, we don't sell supplements. We sell solutions and we sell nutrition, we sell lifestyle. And I think that's the biggest confusion. People look at us, Jesse and Kim, and they say, well, you guys are just getting those kind of results because you know, you've got prescription peptides. It's like, that's so not true. Yeah, that's not true at all. Because I mean, if that were true, the med spas and everybody else would be getting the same results and they're not.
Yeah. I think the biggest thing is like, we're selling a program, we're not selling a peptide. Right. And so even here's what I'll say is like, even, even with that is like, you know, the peptide without the program doesn't produce the same results as the program with the peptide and putting those together. And so, you know, there's a lot of people out there who are like, hey, the peptide's bad for you. It's this, it's like, no, it's a programming problem. It's not a peptide problem. You know, no different than somebody who, you know, was like, well, somebody said I could drink alcohol, so I'm just gonna go have like four shots every night. Eventually you're gonna probably run into an issue. And so to me, that's a programming problem. That's not really a peptide problem. And we have to quit blaming a peptide for the, the lack of programming around that. Touch on that a little bit, man. Because I know a lot of times people are like, well, I don't want to do peptides, but they're willing to go give somebody 12 different supplements and call that like better.
Right, Exactly. I mean, look, yeah, I mean.
If.
You go to a doctor and they just give you a peptide or a prescription, you know, they're not a true doctor. They're. They're a drug dealer. Right. And even if they're pushing supplements, I mean, they're just a dealer. And you know, we could talk all day long about, you know, how important a program is, but you know, after we've coached thousands of people, we know that if you're selling supplements and that's all great. You'll get, you know, a little result. Or if you're just selling a peptide and that's all great, you'll get some results, but you're really not doing your, your client any, any service because you, if you're not, if you're not a doctor needs to give the client the tools to be successful on their own account. I mean, we've heard it all before. Doctor truly means to teach, to educate. And if you don't have a way to do that, even if it's supplements and you're going to talk bad about. Because I see this all the time too. Chiropractors are notorious for it and they say, oh, doctors just write prescriptions, right? Well, chiropractors, if you just sell supplements, you're doing the same thing. If you're not teaching, if you're not giving them tools to change their lifestyle, to teach them how to eat, to have better health, and you're pushing supplements. It's the same model. It's just using a supplement and not a prescription, right?
Yeah, I mean, it's the, it's the same kind of surface level.
Yeah.
You know, surface level results or surface level fix versus like, hey, let's get to the root cause of, of like, you know, when it comes to obesity and it comes to people losing weight, if you're not addressing the liver, the gut and fixing a metabolism.
Right.
Just handing people supplements isn't the, isn't the thing. And restricting their diet, that's not really what's going to help them.
Right.
So let's kind of talk a little bit about the business side because a lot of the weight loss programs we saw out there that we were kind of like, okay, what are they doing that's good? What are they doing that may not be so good? And I think the biggest thing we saw, number one was, you know, obviously the nutrition side, having a program first that kind of married up with peptides. But the other side was the business side. Like, there was very little marketing, there was very little sales. But tell me, like, what that does for you as far as confidence in what you're offering, even if you've never really had to market before.
Yeah, I mean, I've had, I've bought something in my practice and put it in my practice. You know, whether it's a red light table or a different piece of equipment that they don't give you those tools. And now after a while you wind up just having an expensive piece of equipment. You Know, sitting in your office without a real system to market it, and so knowing what to do to market yourself, because really that's what you're doing in this kind of program is you. You're not marketing a piece of equipment, you're marketing yourself, you're marketing your lifestyle. And we believe in that strongly. Man is like living it, not only learning our systems, which is easy to learn, but living it. Being that walking testament to truly a healthy lifestyle, it just becomes second nature. I mean, just. It's just second nature. It only makes sense to share it with others around you and your community because proof is in the pudding, right? I mean, if you're really living a healthy lifestyle, it should show. If you have a good program, it should show in your own results. And if it does, it's really the easiest thing to market, to lead others people to influence, to sell it. It's the easiest thing in the world if you're actually doing the work yourself.
Yeah. And you know, I think the biggest thing for you, man, is, you know, really you kind of putting your own results out there is like, hey, these are the changes that I've made. And just documenting that and kind of leading from a place of like walking your talk, like you said, because I know a lot of the weight loss programs out there for chiropractors. You know, a lot of the chiropractors, one, look like they should be on the weight loss program, and then two, they don't look like they're following, you know, the advice that they're giving other people. But like, that's really the standard we wanted to create in our program was like, hey, you have to actually walk the talk here. We're not just going to give this to anybody, but like, since you've kind of transitioned to marketing yourself and really putting your own stuff out there, like, what has that done for you and your business?
I mean, dude, I mean, I doubled my business last year once I started that, you know, and so, I mean, I maintained everything I was doing in the chiropractic space and cut out a day's worth of adjusting and added in this virtual coaching. I leveled up my health and I2X my income. So, I mean, it's everything, man. When you connect with your physical health and you improve your own physical health, that's where it starts. I mean, that's really where everything starts. And we see it now. I mean, your marriage is going to get better, your spiritual relationship is going to get better, your financial health, as it was in my case, gets better. And so that's the fear factor. I think people is like, they don't understand why they should, you know, prioritize their health. And I was like that man, I was that chiropractor that was like, oh, vaccines are bad, drugs are bad. And then I'd go out with my chiropractic friends and drink three glasses of wine and cocktails over the weekend, you know, and there's that, that double standard that a lot of chiropractic, even wellness enthusiasts, as we found out, is like, that's a double standard. You really, yeah. Really can't say something's bad that's toxic and then go drink alcohol or go eat fast food and be 50 to 80 pounds overweight. Right. And so, yeah, man, I mean, it's just all connected and it really comes down to how you're taking care of yourself. And that's probably the biggest thing I took from this experience, is how important that is. And then once you're through the weeds on that, like, how awesome that is to be that walking billboard that testament really of like what it's like to really live a balanced, healthy lifestyle without those double standards.
Yeah. So tell me, tell me, like the top two reasons why, you know, chiropractors should be considering, you know, VIP weight loss system or, or putting this into their practice in 2025.
The first one, man, is because it's the right thing to do. I mean, I just have to say that.
I mean, what do you mean by the right thing to do?
70% of the, of the people that walk into a chiropractic practice are, are 20 to 25 pounds overweight. Okay. I mean, what that. And we've, I've seen the blood work now. I've ordered enough lab work, I've ordered enough metabolic profiles, enough cholesterol panels to know that the majority of Americans 30, 40, 50 years older, as old as that, have a form of metabolic syndrome. Right. Whether they're pre diabetes and most of them are, they are pre diabetic, they're inflammatory, they're struggling with some form of chronic disease, whether it's detectable or not. They've got elevated blood pressure, elevated lipid panels, high A1C. They're struggling. I mean, they're literally struggling. And nobody is in a better position or nobody's even taking the time to try to help them. In our profession, we've been pushing programs that are quick fix programs for years, for decades. And chiropractors see a lot of people come through their clinics, a lot of health conscious people, and it just makes.
Right.
It's really, it should be, I mean, it should be what every chiropractor is adding to their practice because it's root cause. I mean, so first and foremost, I really just believe passionately it's the right thing to do as a physician. And second man, I mean, because it, it can give you a completely virtual and scalable way to improve your bottom line. I mean, it just financial freedom that you get from putting the work into this model because you can control what, you know, what you do with it. You know, it's not a machine that sits in your practice that you have to add more staff, train more staff market. I mean, learn it, live it, lead it, man. And that's just been something I learned from you these last couple years. And that's just the gift is like if you're ready as a chiropractor or even a wellness enthusiast, if you're involved in the chiropractic space at all, maybe you're a spouse and you're living a healthy lifestyle, like you should be leveraging that.
Yeah. The one thing I'll say too is it's a completely different business model than a traditional chiropractic clinic. And I really believe that the way that we're heading into 2025, 2026 is the original business models of, you know, maybe how we made our money is like those are going to be obsolete and we have to find ways, especially, you know, after 2020. Right. Is like, yeah, that was an awakening of the traditional business model that I have. Yes, it made me money, it got me here. But like, I need to learn how to maximize not only the business I have, but also a different business model if I want different results. Because let's face it, if all I did was go from a one on one in person model to a one on one virtual model, essentially it's the exact same business. It's just done virtually where this is a completely different business model than anything you're going to do in your clinic. And so I really believe that that's one of the most attractive things to this model is it's completely different. And you know, let's face it, for you guys to do seven figures, I mean, we're talking about less than like four employees. I don't think you could do that in a chiropractic clinic with, I mean.
Those are hard employees. I mean, they, they don't work more than each of those don't work more than eight hours a week for us.
Right. Give me kind of an Idea of like how much time you guys think you put into this business, you know, just say on a week to week basis. Because I know that's usually what most people will say.
Yeah, I mean, Kim is full time. I mean, obviously I'm still, I would consider myself more of a full time chiropractor right now. Still Kim's full time. I mean, she would say 18 hours on her end and I would say for me, probably more like six to eight, honestly. I mean, there's some time with content creation and stuff like that, but sure. That once you get that down, I mean, that kind of becomes second nature. Um, so, I mean, together, collectively, you know, I would say no more than 24, 20 to 26 hours a week.
And you know, for you guys listening to this, you know, 20, 24 hours to do a seven figure business like that wouldn't even be possible to do in the chiropractic space with chiropractic alone. The other thing too is a lot of these people are, you know, they're buying red lights, they're buying things like that. But I don't know anybody doing red lights doing, you know, 20, 25K a month consistently, let alone, you know, 83K a month consistently. And so the other thing too is like, okay, so a red light reduces inches. But like, did you change your diet? Did you address the metabolic dysfunctions that you have? And then also is it really improving your habits? You know, and those are the things that you have to look at and address. And I know a lot of people in this space, they tend to buy tools, but they don't tend to buy programs that offer big, greater solutions than the tool.
Right? Yeah, I mean, shockwave, decompression, all great tools. I mean, if I have a disc issue and I can't get out of it, I'm going to be looking at decompression or shockwave or a chronic knee problem. But if you don't address the weight because that's in the inflammation, that's likely the reason that that client's even in your office in the first place.
Right.
What's root cause here? Is it, you know, the aching arthritic knee just showed up out of nowhere? Or is it the 40, 50 pounds I've been carrying for 15 years?
All right, man, so last question. I'm listening to this podcast. I'm, you know, maybe a chiropractor. I've been there for five, 10, maybe 15 years. Tell me like one, one thing you would say to that person that is thinking about making this transition.
Let's go. Let's do it. I mean, it's the thrill of a lifetime to help people in this capacity. And it's the greatest reward, too. I mean, I've taken people through chiropractic programs successfully, and that feels good. But championing someone's health with them side by side is really the greatest feeling on the planet. Being a coach, and then before I even became a chiropractor, I wanted to coach sports, I wanted to play sports, I wanted to do some coaching in some capacity. This gives back to me everything. You know, it fills my cup, man. So, I mean, if you're thinking about this, like, let's go. We're ready to truly change America's health, you know, and a lot of people talk about it, the make America healthy again. And their solution is kind of the same as what it's always been, which is more supplements or whatever it is, or taking stuff out of foods. And that's all great. I think, you know, we should do that, man. We really need to, you know, work with people on a deeper level to get the real change that we need to see in this country.
Yeah, for sure. And I, you know, I really believe, you know, Maha, whatever you want to say about that starts with us first. So if I want to, you know, hey, I want to make, you know, make America healthy again, well, I got to make myself healthy first. And then always, like, you know, thinking about, you know, if I help myself first, that means I can help other people. And. And that's, you know, really what we're working on here is being in integrity with that, helping yourself first, helping other people so you can help others, you know, in your community and in your world.
