In this brief interview, two speakers discuss the lack of European and African editions of the Drag Race franchise, noting that the producers deliberately framed the competition as a tournament of Asian queens rather than a generic "Country vs. the World" format. They reflect on how this intentional framing highlights the unique experiences of queer and trans Asian contestants, emphasizing the personal stories and challenges these performers face within the broader drag and LGBTQ+ landscape.

Why isn't there a European Drag Race or an African Drag Race?
Right, right. I mean, you're right, the framing of this was very intentional. They didn't call it Philippines vs. the World. They didn't call it like UK vs. the World or Canada vs. the World. They were really intentional in the way that they— it was like a tournament of Asian queens.
Exactly. But you know, in hindsight, I'm very happy because as evidenced in the show, there were a lot of issues that came out that the contestants themselves experiences in their own lives. Exactly. Drag queens and as queer and trans, you know, people.
Exactly. I mean, like, Asian people, like any other group, have been all over the world, and to see all of those people discussing their experiences, I mean, that really stood with me longer than anything. [SPEAKING CHINESE] But of course, the show is very fun.
