Can AI Art Actually Be Called "Art?"

LARRUZ argues that AI art deserves the name only when creators invest real effort. Curating images through Midjourney, Leonardo, and Photoshop, then iterating extensively, makes you an artist. Pressing prompts and rerolling until something looks good does not.

What do you think about AI art? Can people take credit from this AI art? I think that is a very nuanced question with nuanced answers. I think depending on the art, we can or cannot give credit to the creator. If somebody used a whole bunch of different AI tools, they used midjourney to create one image, and they used Leonardo for a different image, and then they pulled it in Photoshop and figured out how to make them, like, blend together. Or they used midjourney and then, like, generated an image and then masked it out and then regenerated and then masked out a different area and then regenerated and sort of kept on working at it and dialing it in until it was the exact image that they had in their mind. Cool. Now think that the person who created it is an artist. They put a lot of thought and effort into working it and working it and molding it into the thing they wanted it to be. If somebody goes to midjourney and says, generate an image of a cat with a really colorful background and they get a really amazing image, and then they start sharing it everywhere and go, look, I'm an artist now. I made this cool cat with a colorful background. I can't claim that person is an artist. You just typed a prompt and got lucky with a really cool image. Same with, like, if you prompt over and over again, you just hit reroll 100 times until you get the image that you wanted. Are you really an artist? Or you just press a button until you got lucky and found an image that looked good? I myself would consider it art if I feel like you put a lot of effort into it versus just rerolling a prompt over and over again.
