ChatGPT now remembers your previous conversations and uses them in new chats, pulling context from up to 10 months back. It's on by default, which is helpful for continuity but risky because old chat context can leak into and bias new outputs without you realizing it.

Chatgpt just shipped the most significant update to consumers this year. It's update to memories, because now ChatGPT can look into all your previous chats and use that info to inform your new chats. And I tried to briefly explore how far this dates back, and it had context of chats from like 10 months ago. So you can kind of think of this as being aware of everything you chatted about ever. I think everybody who's an intermediate to advanced user really needs to be aware of the fact that this is in there and that it's on by default. That. But this is not just a positive feature for everybody. If you're doing specific things, you gotta be aware of this, because it might just be smuggling context from past conversations into your new conversation, warping the outputs in ways you might not expect.
