The other day, I was browsing Amazon and stumbled upon this black paper notebook. I sensed some potential, so I decided to share it with you and show you step by step how to create your own version. If we search for black paper notebook on Amazon, we'll get around 9,000 results for this term. And if we check the books, we'll notice a couple that are doing well. This one, for example, is a best seller with a BSR of 9,000, and it gets between 18 to 23 sales per day. Here we have another with 52,000 BSR and and another with 45,000 BSR. So clearly there are books selling well in this niche. However, 9,000 results may be too competitive if you're starting. So I applied the space method and found a sub niche that narrowed down the results. As you can see, the search term Black paper notebook for white ink got only 500 results. And I've also found books that are performing well using this keyword. Also, targeting a keyword with just 500 results can boost our sales chances compared to competing against 9,000. Okay, so the first step in creating our notebook involves analyzing the competition. The COVID is very simple, and I'm confident we can do much better. The interior is even simpler, consisting only of black lined pages. The book contains 110 pages and measures 6 by 9 inches. So let's go ahead and start designing the interior, which means the book pages. So I opened Canva and created a new design which, with dimensions of 8.5 by 11 inches, slightly larger than our competitor. And the first thing I will do is color the entire page black, since we're creating a black paper notebook. And after that, we'll create the page lines. To do this, grab the line shape from the left side menu, ensure it's white, and set the line weight to 1. Then duplicate this line as needed to cover the page. However, it might not look quite right initially. To to fix that, select all the lines and click on position at the top. And then click Tidy up right here. And you'll notice the lines are neatly organized. Now, finally, adjust all the lines to stretch across the page, just as you see on the screen. Once it's done, I will duplicate the page twice. One for the right side page and another for the left side page. I will then add this template and ensure the lines fit correctly. And then add the other templates for the left page and and do the same thing. You can download these templates for free from the link in the description box. This will ensure your book gets approved on Amazon. Now, if you want. You can add graphics to your page and make it look nicer, or you can add a field to write the date or anything like that. Once you're happy with the look, remove the templates and your page should be ready. Now click the Grid view option at the bottom, select the two pages and duplicate as many pages as you want for your book. For this example I went with 120 pages. However, if you want to save time doing all, you can, check out my pre made Canva template in the description below, which basically includes all pages ready to use anyway. After preparing your pages, save the design as a PDF print and with your book content complete, we can move on to designing the COVID And just like the interior, we'll need the correct template. Go ahead to Google and search for KDP cover calculator on that page. You need to fill in details about your book such as the book size and the number of pages. Once you've entered this information, you can you can download the right cover template. After downloading, you'll get a PDF with the exact dimensions, copy these dimensions and create a new design based on that. And this is going to be your cover template. I'm going to start off by splitting the page in half so we'll have the front cover on the right and the back cover on the left. So I made the background black and added the notebook lines just to match the overall theme we have. Then I selected a nice font and added the book title, Black Paper notebook and the subtitle for white ink. And to make things more interesting, I've added some cool looking graphics to add color and make the COVID stand out a bit more. Now on the back cover I've added a short description in a handwriting style that shows how the writing will look inside the book and I think this is a really cool touch. After you finish the COVID design, put the template you downloaded on top and lower the transparency. You can then double check and ensure everything fits correctly within the template guidelines. And once you're satisfied with the results, save it as a PDF print. This means you now have the entire book ready to publish. You have the book cover along with all the pages. Now to publish your book on Amazon, you'll need to sign up for a free KDP account and I've actually created an in depth tutorial on how to publish your first book on Amazon. You can find the link in the description below. Also, let me know if I should do more of these short videos in the future. Thanks for watching.
