Meta has just announced a bunch of new AI features and experiences across its platforms, including WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and more. These features are powered by some of the most advanced AI technologies out there and they are designed to make your online interactions more fun, creative and immersive. So in this video, I'm going to break down what these new AI features are, how they work, and why they matter for the future of social connection and the Metaverse. First of all, let me introduce you to AI Stickers. This is a new feature that lets you generate customized stickers for your chats and stories based on text prompts. For example, if you type sticker Happy Birthday or sticker I love you, Meta's AI will create a unique sticker that matches your request in seconds. You can use any words or phrases you want and the AI will try to interpret them and produce a high quality sticker that you can share with your friends. This feature uses technology from llama2 and EMU, which are Meta's latest models for text and image generation. Llama2 is a large language model that can generate text and code in response to prompts, while EMU is a foundational model for image generation that can create realistic images from text or sketches. By combining these two models, Meta's AI can turn your text prompts into multiple stickers that you can choose from. This feature is rolling out to select English language users over the next month on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and Facebook Stories, so keep an eye out for it. Next up we have Restyle and Backdrop. These are two new features that are coming soon to Instagram that will let you transform your images or even co create AI generated images with your friends. Restyle lets you reimagine your images by applying the visual styles you describe. For example, you can type watercolor or collage from magazines and newspapers to change the look and feel of your image. Backdrop changes the scene or background of your image based on descriptive prompts. Like you can type put me in front of a sublime aurora Borealis or surrounded by puppies to create an image of yourself in a different setting. These features also use the technology from EMU as well as learnings from Meta's Segment Anything model which can separate the foreground and background of any image. Now let's talk about Meta's new AI assistant. This is a new assistant that you can chat with like a person on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and soon on Ray Ban, Meta, smart glasses and Quest 3. It's powered by a custom model that leverages technology from llama2 and Meta's latest large language model research. It can give you real time information and generate photorealistic images from your text prompts in seconds to share with your friends. Like if you're planning a hiking trip with your friends in a group chat, you can ask Meta AI Assistant for suggestions on where to go, what to pack, what the weather will be like, etc. You can also ask IT to create a digital merit badge for your group based on your preferences. Meta AI Assistant can also answer general knowledge questions and search the web for you using Microsoft's Bing search engine. And it can also make recommendations in a pinch, make you laugh when you need a good joke, settle a debate in a group chat, and generally be there to answer questions or teach you something new. Alright now. Meta is also launching 28 more AIs in beta with unique interests and personalities. Some of these AIs are played by cultural icons and influencers like Snoop Dogg, Tom Brady, Kendall Jenner, Naomi Osaka, and more. You can chat with these AIs on WhatsApp, messenger and Instagram as well. Each AI has its own profile that tells you more about their hobbies, passions, quirks, etc. For example, Snoop Dogg plays an AI named Dungeon Master who loves role playing games and fantasy novels. Naomi Osaka plays an AI named Tamika who is into anime and manga. You can chat with these AIs about their interests or anything else you want to talk about. They might even surprise you with some fun facts or trivia along the way. These AIs are still in beta mode though, so they might not know everything or have the most up to date information yet. They are currently limited to pre2023 information, but meta plans to integrate search functionality into them soon so they can access real time web results. These AIs are only available in the United States for now, but Meta hopes to expand them to more regions and languages in the future. Finally, let me introduce you to AI Studio Platform. This is a new platform that Meta is releasing for people and developers to build their own AIs. AI studio platform is an open platform that allows both coders and non coders to create AIs that reflect their brand's values and improve customer service experiences. You can also use AI Studio platform to create AIs for messaging services like WhatsApp, messenger and Instagram. For example, you can create an AI that represents your business and answers customer queries, or an AI that represents your personal brand and engages with your fans. You can also use AI Studio Platform to experiment with creating your own AI characters with different personalities and interests. Meta is also building a sandbox that will be released in the coming year, enabling anyone to experiment with creating their own AI. As Meta's universe of AIs continues to grow and evolve, they will bring this sandbox to the Metaverse, giving you the chance to build AIs that adopt an even greater level of realism, embodiment and connectedness. So what do you think of these new AI features and experiences from meta? Are you excited to try them out, or do you have any concerns or questions about them? Let me know in the comments below.
