Sam Altman announced GPT-5 is coming in weeks to months. It will combine multiple models, including an O3 thinking model, into one ChatGPT interface that automatically picks the right tool for each task.

"Weeks, months" (speaker interprets this as likely before summer, possibly before April).
GPT5 is coming in the next weeks, months, and here's what you can expect from it. What will be referred to as GPT5 will be a system that will integrate all of this tech, including their state of the Art O3 thinking model, into one focused experience where ChatGPT will figure out if you need a thinking model or not, if you need one application or another one. By itself, this is not going to be a model router that will be deciding if you're going to be picking GPT4O or 01 or 01 Pro. No, it's going to be a unified experience. Interesting. And when asked about the estimated time of arrival on these, he said weeks, months, which in my books means before summer, essentially. That'd be my guess, maybe even sometimes before April. Who knows.
