TU Wien Rendering #12 - Assignment 1

Lecture by Károly Zsolnai-Fehér (TU Wien) presenting Assignment 1 for a rendering course. Students get a package containing Paul Heckbird's compact "business card" ray tracer (and a more readable C version) plus the instructor's Small Paint global-illumination program. Tasks: compile the tracer (MingW provided for Windows or use other toolchains), render images with maximum bounce depths (1–5 and larger), record execution times, plot runtime vs. depth, vary AOV, produce light-path diagrams (mark camera and visible paths), and submit specified files (images, observations, plot). Optional "pro" questions ask for algorithmic complexity (big-O) with respect to depth and ideas to improve it. The lecture ends with logistics and a brief anecdote about Austrian Easter break timing.
