Joanne Smith argues that chronic pain rooted in the brain's perception of danger can heal at any age, even in people in their 90s, through neuroplasticity. She urges listeners to become their own safety coach and research mind-body frameworks rather than waiting for external validation.

doesn't matter how many years that you've had symptoms and pain. If they fall under the category and they're being created from a brain that's perceiving danger, then you could have had it for 50, 60 years. There's people in their 90s who are getting well. A lot of the experts who I, like, work with behind the scenes, and some of their stories and the cases that they share in the clinical discussions which I attend, Um, are incredible. So don't rule yourself out, like seriously, just if you think you're a special kind of broken and you think that you've had it for too long and, oh, I've had 40-odd years or 50, then again, please just stop and reconsider. Please consider being your own safety coach here because you can be your own safety coach. You're the best person for the job. You don't even need to interview for it either because you can hire yourself now, and I really encourage you to do that. So yeah, if you don't know if it applies to you or not and you're thinking, God, I've just joined Jo's group and I don't know what she's talking about, then research neuroplastic symptoms, mind-body symptoms.
