Am I a Prophet?

A teaching on what it means to be a prophet in the five-fold ministry. The speaker distinguishes prophetic ministry from the general spirit of prophecy all believers have, outlines seven prophetic styles from nabi to artistic anointings, and advises starting by prophesying over yourself and family before expanding to broader ministry.

Are you a prophet? So I'm going to be starting a new series on the prophetic. The Holy Spirit has graced me to do a seven-part series on whether or not you are prophetic, as well as to teach those who are about the prophetic, what it means, how it becomes a part of your lifestyle. And if you are interested in this video and have others who may be interested, please like and share these. These videos are going to be a little bit longer format. They're not going to be the traditional thirty to sixty second videos. They're going to go about a couple. Couple minutes, 2 to 3 minutes long, because we're going to be covering a lot of different aspects of these things, and I want to go into a little bit more detail that will resonate deeper for those who are actually interested or called into these types of ministries. So when, when you are called to be a prophet, the first thing I want to make sure everyone understands is, is that God is the one who ordains prophets. And we're not really talking about the spirit of prophecy here, rather than kind of confuse that with this topic, uh, because the spirit of prophecy operates on everyone, actually, even with believers and non-believers. But what we're really talking about are prophets. It's a— it is a part of the fivefold ministry, and it is something that God ordains individuals into the ministries, whether you are a man or a female. So this is a ministry that biblically applies to all Christians as a part of their walk with God. Now, one of the key things people will say is, well, I haven't been confirmed by my local church. Well, we'll make sure we understand is, is God is the one who defines who the prophets are. Man confirms them. So you don't need to be confirmed in order to be considered a prophet, but you can't operate in your local church if you've not been confirmed because there is a hierarchy and there's an order. God is a God of order, and in order to operate in the church, which is ultimately a higher calling, you must be ordained into the ministry and had hands laid on you because there's aspects where you can be bringing in correction to leadership and others, and you do have to operate at a different level. So I just want to make sure you understand is that you can be a prophet, but you're not going to have operational structures within the church unless you've been ordained into the prophetic ministry. So what is— what makes a person a prophet? How do you know before you're a prophet that you are a prophet? Well, there's different styles of the prophetic. So the different styles of the prophetic comes into whether or not you're a nabi prophet. A nabi prophet is one who bubbles up and speaks words that God tells him or her, and they just speak it. So they hear something and boom, it comes out. There's no relative interpretation. To a degree, it's still filtered through the heart of God, so there's— it's not necessarily like a sledgehammer effect. It's not meant to be condemning, but rather something that brings edification, exhortation, or comfort to people. It's really key. Another one is a seer. So if you are a person who constantly sees things, like you almost have this sixth sense where you can see words appear over people, and all of a sudden you might be having a conversation or you're in a worship service and you start to see things that aren't there. Maybe you see a waterfall, angelic beings. Maybe you see possibly even the spirits of evil. Serpents on the ground, things like that. That's a seer prophet. That's someone who also has dreams. If you're dreaming a lot and you have these vivid dreams and you wake up, you're like, wow, what was that? That's a seer prophet. Another one is a watchman prophet, a person who is really someone at heart, like almost like an intercessor, where you feel that you constantly have to pray over people. You feel like you're a guardian, someone who is Looking out at a distance and saying, ah, there's something going on there. Let me query the Holy Spirit and see what my part is in all of this. Another one is a visionary, someone similar to like where you see Peter, where Peter was on the, the top of this one house and he sees the vision of this blanket or rug and it has all these animals. And God says, Peter, get up and kill and eat. That's where you see this vivid vision. Visionary prophets are ones that actually see, or like, it's almost like you're dreaming while you're awake, but it's so vivid you can clearly separate that from like what a seer prophet has. Another one is a foreteller prophet, someone who is getting anointings from the Holy Spirit and allows them to tell the future. They can tell things that are predictions of the future. I'll give you an example what happened last November— actually was in August, my apologies— where the Holy Spirit talked about the major move of the Holy Spirit last February. It was prophesied by a lot of people and it came to pass. We saw that at Ashbury, we saw that at my local church, tons of major movements of the Holy Spirit, just a huge push to come to Jesus. Another one is a preacher anointing, believe it or not. And this— there's a lot of other ones. You can have a singing anointing, you can have an artistic anointing in the prophetic. Preaching one is whenever you have a, a pastor or someone who's a teacher who can just talk in a way that resonates prophetically, but as they talk, the Holy Spirit is guiding them in the midst of their conversations, their teachings, or their sermons, that in that process They're now talking specifically to the people that are listening. They're saying things that just resonate deeply because it actually affects them. And so these are the different aspects of a prophetic person. And one of the key aspects that separate the prophetic from the other fivefold ministry is that they do hear from God a lot. This was something that I never realized until very recently. I was reading a book from someone who talked about the prophetic. And then in the middle of the book, he says, I hardly hear God talk to me. Like, he talks to me in these— all these different manners through his Bible and through other people, but I don't actually hear the internal or audible voice of God. And he says, I might have heard it maybe a dozen or so times in 20 years. Where a prophet is going to hear God if they sit in their quiet place, God will talk to them for hours, and then they'll just become like a scribe. Where they're constantly writing down what the word of the Lord is, and they could just download it instantly. So hopefully this helps you with a little bit of how the prophetic anointing can work on your life. Things that you may have seen will be like women's intuition or a guy's gut feeling, but I just want to kind of introduce the prophetic to you for those who might be interested in that, because God may be calling you through these different styles. And hopefully you'll start to realize That this is something that's been deposited in you, and then you can go and work with the Holy Spirit to foster and train you in what I would consider a very safe place. The biggest place for the prophetic to be working is you prophesy over yourself, or you prophesy over your family. Those are the places you should start, and you should work in those places until you are grown in the Spirit and you become more obedient. And then once you're more obedient, the Holy Spirit will elevate you into other places and other parts of ministry. God bless.
