In this short devotional monologue, the speaker reflects on Luke 1:28, where the angel greets Mary as "highly favored" and emphasizes that Mary's exceptional humility was the decisive quality that led God to choose her as the mother of Jesus. The speaker argues that Mary's humility ensured she would serve God faithfully, even as the mother of the Savior, and concludes with a blessing.
Luke chapter 1, verse 28. The angel went to her and said, greetings, you who are highly favored, the Lord is with you. How about that for a greeting for Mary? Highly favored of the Lord. In all of history, Mary was selected to be the mother of Jesus. Do you know why? Reading the Bible, this one trait stands out the most: humility. She had a ton of it. That's what set Mary apart from all the people in the history of the world. Mary had great humility to the point that we knew that when God selected her to lead Jesus in his youth, that she would be humble because she was actually serving God the Father. She knew that what she had in front of her was the Lord, and even though that she was his mother, she knew that he was going to be the one to usher in the Savior of the world, and her humility was the key trait to allowing that to happen. God bless.
