Meet Ayana Campbell

Ayana Campbell grew up secular and involved in New Age practices before supernatural dreams of hell at 22 terrified her toward Jesus. She experienced the Holy Spirit's physical presence as wind while watching a David Diga Hernández video, received a prophetic calling, and now shares her ministry on Numa, a Christian platform she describes as uncensored.

My name is Caitlin. I'm here with Ayanna Campbell today. We're going to be talking to her about her testimony and just about her life, um, before Jesus and after Jesus and everything in between. So can you tell me about your testimony?
Thank you, Caitlin, for inviting me. And yes, so my testimony is that I grew up in the world like most people. I didn't really know God. Um, my father is an atheist. I had a mother who was a lukewarm Christian. So I grew up going to the church with her, but I really didn't have a relationship with God at all. It was a dead church. It was a dry church. They didn't teach anything about having an intimate and personal relationship with Jesus. And so I had, you know, I didn't really know God. At some point in my life, when I got like towards high school, I just called myself agnostic, you know, because I didn't even know if God existed or not. But if He did exist, I'd never encountered Him. So I just lived my life in the world. While I was in the world, I got involved in, you know, many different things like most people do because of the influences that come into their life. So I had got involved in doing New Age practices. For example, I used to regularly get my palm read, regularly studied the zodiac, like religiously, like almost obsessively, you know, because sometimes I would read it and I was like, oh wow, that sounds like me. So it's something that drew me in. Also, I had really good friends who were in Wicca. They were witches. They also called themselves what they call a reader, meaning like they can read people's minds. And so those were the kind of people I was attracted to and hung around most of my life. At some point, I even got involved in LGBTQ, and I was— and I considered myself part of that movement. I no longer do any of those things. And so I was just raised very confused, you know, didn't know which direction to go, didn't know where I was headed. And I lived my life mostly like that until I got around 22, 23 years of age, where Jesus encountered me supernaturally. Now, before this, I didn't think about Jesus. I didn't care. Honestly, Caitlin, I know it might be offensive to somebody, but I really didn't. I didn't care about God. You know, so I wasn't thinking about him. God wasn't on my radar. I thought I was a good person. So I thought, even if there is a heaven, you know, it's not like I've killed someone. I'm a pretty good person. I'm friendly. So even if there's a heaven, I'll make it no matter what it is. So Jesus encountered me supernaturally in a dream. So what happened, Caitlyn, was over a period of, I would say, a month, so almost 30 days, Um, God, you know, I didn't know it was God at the time until after, but God, um, showed me hell, and that really scared me, you know, because I was a person, like I said, I thought I was going to heaven. I thought I was good and that, you know, I didn't deserve to go to hell. You know, I'm not like a mass murderer. I don't, you know, I don't do, you know, bad things to people. Not knowing that New Age and witchcraft was an open door to demonic, to demons. I didn't know those things were bad or wrong. And, um, so yeah, God showed me hell over a period of 30 days, and it really scared me. Now, in the— these dreams that I was having— now, I was always, Kayla, I was always a dreamer. So even when I was like in the New Age doing New Age things and, you know, hanging out with witches, I would have, you know, dreams that would, that would come to pass, like of certain things I would see. And and they would come to pass. And I asked my friend who was a witch, I was like, you know, why are these things happening, you know, to me? And she told me, hey, you know, it sounds like, you know, you have like a clairvoyant gift, you know. So at one point I was like, oh, okay. And I started studying, like, you know, getting into— I wasn't a full-blown psychic, but I started looking into it, studying it, because I thought that was my gift and that it just happened. But it was really something that later God would use for His glory. But but it was perverted by Satan at the time. And so Jesus showed me hell over this period of 30 days. And when I was there, I was like, it was so strange, Caitlin. I was like in darkness, in gloom. I can't even explain it. It's just like when I was there, I just had a knowing that I was in hell. You know, I didn't think about hell, but I just knew supernaturally that I was in hell. And strangely, when I was there, I remember one time I was looking for God, but God was not there. So that's very strange that I would even do something like that because I didn't believe in God. Now, after those encounters, and I know it's the Holy Spirit now, but then I didn't know, I had this thought in my mind, and the thought said, you know, why don't you start being obedient to God? And I was like, you know what, why don't I start being obedient to God? I thought it was my own thought, but now I know it's the Holy Spirit. And so, you know, I didn't know how to be obedient to God. I had never read the Bible. At one point, Caitlyn, I even hated the Bible, and I used to rip it up, like take the pages out and rip it up into shreds. I used to like write all over it, you know. I even, you know, said like blasphemous things that I've repented of now. But yeah, so I started reading the word of God. I started reading different stories in the Bible that I thought— I looked up online, you know, what are some interesting Bible stories? I started there, and I just started reading them slowly, slowly, slowly. And, you know, after doing that for a while, and I was about 20, 22 years old when this happened, you know, I believed in Jesus. Now, I didn't know anything about repentance. I didn't know anything about like a sinner's prayer or anything like that. I didn't know what salvation meant. I didn't know any of those terms at all. But I knew like in my heart that I had accepted Jesus. And so after I did that, I had another prophetic dream. And in this prophetic dream, Caitlin, I was in hell again. But then a man in shining clothes came, and he grabbed me by the hand, and he lifted me up out of hell. And now I know it's Jesus. Then I didn't know. I didn't even know fully who he was. I mean, I knew who Jesus was because I had read the Bible, but I didn't know who this man was because I had never had an encounter like this. And I even said to him, and he didn't answer me though, but I said to him, who are you? Are you John the Baptist? Like, I didn't know who he was, but now I know it was Jesus. And there, when that started, that started like, um, you know, when I became born again. Um, then after, soon after that encounter with Jesus, I started repenting for my sins, not knowing what repentance was. I was just saying, you know, God, I'm sorry for this, I'm sorry for that, I'm sorry for this, this, this, this. And while I was doing that one day, Caitlin, in my room, All of a sudden, very strangely, like some— I felt like I had to throw up, you know. I didn't know anything about demons. I felt like I had to throw up, and when I threw up, like this black substance came out of me. And I knew nothing about deliverance. I don't— I didn't know anything about theology or anything like that. So that was just God showing His mercy, you know, to me in that time, even though I had no idea what was going on. And so ever since then, I've been You know, born-again believer. Later I would get baptized with the Holy Spirit, but that's my salvation story about how I came to Jesus Christ.
That's amazing. That's such a beautiful story. I know that like when people, um, when people go through life without Jesus and they look back, it's like we realize how much we really need him. And it's just so beautiful to look back and see what you've been delivered from and to see the kind of experiences that God Um, took you out of and the things that he's gonna use to help other people, because our testimony is what, um, can help other people come to Christ. It can, especially if they're going through the same thing or they're struggling with deliverance and stuff. So that's, that's such a beautiful story to share with a lot of people. So thank you for sharing that.
Welcome.
Okay, so tell me about your ministry and how you started to work with Numa.
Yes. So how I even went— so I had no desire, first of all, to even go into ministry. I never thought I would ever be in ministry. I have, or I had, a huge fear of public speaking, like all of high school, even most of college. And so ministry was never something that I ever thought that I would do, and I honestly had no desire to do it until God put the desire in me. So how it even happened was that This is about 5 years, 5 or 6 years after I became born again, you know, with my experience and experiencing Jesus and all those things. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit. So why I wasn't baptized before is, you know, even though, you know, um, I was born again, I went to different churches, you know. I'm trying to find like, where should I go, Holy Spirit? I tried going back to my old church and it was just not I was just not being fed spiritually. So I started going to like different churches, and one church I went to, the pastor said, you know, hey, the minute you're born again, you already have the Holy Spirit. So for me personally— and some people do, you know— but for me personally, I just accepted what he said. I was like, okay. And then later, the Holy Spirit led me to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit because I kept thinking, you know, I have the Holy Spirit, but yet, you know, I'm not experiencing these things that people say they're experiencing when they're baptized with the Holy Spirit. And I didn't know anything about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was like a mysterious member of the Trinity for me, right? I knew about Jesus, you know, I was growing my relationship with God the Father, but the Holy Spirit, I knew nothing about. So I remember going on YouTube, and this is like in the afternoon, And I just started looking up videos about the Holy Spirit. I did this for about a week, and then, um, Caitlin, I had an experience with the Holy Spirit directly. So what happened was, and I was watching, and I'll get into this later, I was watching one of David Diga Hernandez's videos about the Holy Spirit because his ministry, you know, he talks about everything about the Holy Spirit, and I knew nothing about the Holy Spirit. It was very helpful to me. And so As I was watching one of his videos, I remember, you know, I had been watching them all day because I was just so hungry for God, and I fell asleep. And when I fell asleep, I was, you know, you're about to wake up, you're like in that in-between state, like I'm about to wake up but I'm kind of still sleepy. And while I was like in that in-between state, literally this, like, I felt something shift in the atmosphere, and that's the only way I can describe it. But I felt a wind literally come into my room. Now, at this point, I was fully awake, you know, after that happened. The Holy Spirit, as a wind, literally came into my room, and I didn't see anybody. It was just a wind and blew on me 3 times. There was no air conditioner on, no fan. There's no fan in my room, nothing. The Holy Spirit came and blew on me 3 times, and after that, I was— completely baptized in the Holy Spirit. I started going into visions. I started hearing God extremely clearly, even more than before. Um, before this experience, I would, I would have prophetic dreams, never visions. I would never hear God's, um, voice. After this happened, I started having visions and hearing God's voice very clearly. And then, um, God would reveal to me over time, hey, I want you to go into ministry. So that's where it all started. And while I was having those experiences, that first, I would say the first maybe 3 or 4 days when I was baptized with the Holy Spirit, it was just, it was such a weighty presence of God, Caitlin. I honestly couldn't, like, you can't function like that as a person because I was going into vision after vision after vision after vision, open visions, closed visions. It was not stopping, you know, but you can't function like that. So at some point— Got that. Like, you know, it'll go back to normal little by little by little by little until I can, you know, live normally.
That's amazing. I really, um, I like how you said that you started to get a lot of visions, um, or how like the prophetic dreaming specifically, because, um, whenever we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, we kind of, we can see deeper into the spiritual. And I think that's such a beautiful thing when people talk about being baptized in the Holy Spirit because it's different than when you just you first receive salvation, because people do, um, people can receive the baptism at the same time, but it's like, it's almost like taking that next step into understanding more spiritual concepts and getting to know the Holy Spirit more. Um, and I also really find it really cool how the Holy Spirit kind of, he literally gave you like a physical sign that he was present. Yes. Um, because I know that, um, the Holy Spirit speaks to people in different ways. And I always find it really amazing to hear when people have like physical interactions with the Holy Spirit because He's real and He's present in every single room that we walk in because He lives in us. So thank you for sharing that as well. Do you think you could tie that into how you started Numa?
Yes, so I have been doing— I have started ministry like God told me to on YouTube. You know, but I had been doing it on and off. You know, it's very hard to grow on YouTube. One day when I was on YouTube, I saw, you know, a creator, you know, I saw David Diga's YouTube page, you know, sign up for this, you know, creator course. So I was like, oh, you know, I want to do that. So let me sign up. And then when we were in there, he told us about Newman. I was like, wow, God, this is really an amazing opportunity for me to do what you've called me to do. And so, you know, I applied and I got accepted and I thank God, you know, for it. And so I'm on Numa. Amen. I love Numa. It's wonderful what this— the vision that God has given, you know, David to have like uncensored, you know, Christian content because it's so easy these days to be censored as a Christian for just saying things like LGBTQ is wrong, you know, for saying this is wrong, that is wrong, you know, the things of the world are wrong. It's so easy to get your video taken down, to have your channel shut down for saying these things. So to have like, uh, to have like this platform where you can preach the gospel freely and not have to worry about being censored, you know, for people who are very sens— for people who are like extremely sensitive these days, you know, it's really, it's really, it's truly a blessing from God. And I'm really thankful to be on Numa.
Yeah, that's amazing. His platform, it's like, um, a Christian Netflix that he calls it. It is. I think,
yes,
I think that's really a really great idea for people to Um, like people who are hungry for the Holy Spirit to just like be on a platform and like have— be relatable and to find relation with other people and stuff. Um, and just find people who are on fire for God too, because that's really— that's not easy to find these days, is to find like a— especially a group of people who are just, um, pursuing the Lord endlessly. Um, I also wanted to talk about your— dive deeper into your experience with the prophetic. Could you get into that?
Yes, so I would say about a year after I got baptized with the Holy Spirit, I had another encounter with God. It was a prophetic dream this time, and in the prophetic dream, the Lord came to me and he told me, I've called you as a prophet. It was a very short dream, but it was very impactful in my life. After that, I woke up and I was like, what? What? You know, because I never thought— I never wanted to be a prophet. I never asked I mean, I knew I had a prophetic gift, and I loved having that prophetic gift, and I was just fine having just a prophetic gift, you know, because I knew like I had a close relationship with Jesus already, you know. But then, you know, God told me he called me into that, and I never had studied. I'd never studied about the fivefold ministry at all. And so I started like learning more and more and more about that. And then, um, there was another— there was a lady You know, because when you have a dream, you want to make sure it's from God and not just, you know, your flesh. And so there was another— there was one day I was at church and there was a lady, and she has a very strong prophetic gift. And she came to me and she prophesied over me, the Lord has called you as a prophet. And so I took that as the confirmation from God that what He said, that dream that I had, excuse me, was definitely from Him. And so there in prophecy, a lot of times there are different prophetic flows. Like some people, for example, they get a lot of prophetic words for people individually, if you notice that. And some people who have a prophetic gift or the office of a prophet, they get more words for like the body of Christ as a whole. And then some people get words for both individual people and the body of Christ as a whole. Now, me personally, I get more words for like the body of Christ as a whole. There's sometimes where, where, um, I do get words for individual people, but my more strong suit is to get, you know, whole words for the body of Christ. And so that's just where God has graced me. And so I'm, I'm just so thankful to God. And a lot of the words that I— that he's given me, you know, one thing I learned from someone who's really mentored me in the prophetic is to keep like a track record of your prophetic words so that when they come to pass, you know, people know you're not making things up. You know, you didn't make things up. So that's one thing that I, that I really try to do is to keep a track record of prophecies, you know, with— that'll show the actual date, which you can't change. You know, the date that you can't change, not like a Word document, but something that you can't change that's legitimate to show like that God really does speak to people today. And, you know, that prophecy is still ongoing and that it's something that is for all believers and we can prophesy. Amen.
Yeah, amen. I remember, I remember when I was called, it was, um, called to be a prophet. It was, um, it was such an amazing experience because I was, um, just starting to like get that on fire, um, like feeling for the Lord and When the person who gave me the confirmation, I just received it right then and there. And I was just like, I felt even more on fire because I'm like, I don't even know what this means, but it sounds incredible. Right. And the more that you learn about it, the more you start to cherish the gifts that He's given you as well, because you can see how He's working through you. And I do, I love the prophetic gift, to be honest. It's really incredible because we're the voice box of God. So that's— Yeah. It's not only a beautiful gift to have, but it's also a really important gift. So I know that it's when you can share that with other people, that's whenever you start to grow even more because you can learn from each other's experiences and you can apply that. To your life as well. So thank you for sharing that.
Yes, no problem. No problem at all.
