In this short YouTube clip, three speakers discuss the tension between traditional Christian reliance on the Bible and a more individualized, “New Age” approach to faith. Speaker B asks about belief in God and references the Bible as “the book for his people,” while Speaker C repeatedly emphasizes a personal, ongoing journey with Jesus, downplaying the authority of the written scripture. Speaker A interjects with a mocking comment, framing the exchange as a critique of the New Age Christian tendency to prioritize personal experience over canonical texts. The conversation highlights differing perspectives on what constitutes authentic Christian practice, with an undercurrent of skepticism toward the “journey‑focused” stance.

Oh, this is painfully true. Watch this.
You believe in God, correct? Yes, of course I do. You believe in Jesus and all that?
Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.
Yes, of course. So in the book here, it says—
I'm on my own journey with him.
Yeah, I got that. But this is the book for his people.
Yes, but I'm on my own journey with him.
Yeah, I understand that. But like, this is the book that you know about his God. But we're on a journey. I'm discovering my relationship with God. Yeah, but like, this is kind of the official book of the religion that you are— But
I'm working on my journey.
So are you Christian or?
Yes, but it's my journey with him.
Okay, I get that. But like, are you guys working on your own book? No, we're not.
Like, you're looking for money, but no, we're not. We're on a journey to discover.
No, but like, you know, it's a little—
It's a journey with him. It's just I'm on a journey to discover.
First of all, there's no such thing as a New Age Christian. But second of all, a lot of regular Christians act this way. And this is why the Bible says my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. How on earth can we follow a God that we refuse to listen to according to his own word?
