Palm Sunday SECRET you MUST know...

In this sermon, John Humenik explains the deep theological meaning of Palm Sunday and its place within Holy Week, linking it to the Jewish spring festivals (First Fruits, Passover, Pentecost) and showing how Jesus fulfills these ancient rites. He outlines the typology of the 10th plague, the Passover lamb, and the hyssop‑blood ritual as foreshadowing Christ’s crucifixion. He highlights the prophetic fulfillment of Zechariah’s vision of a humble king entering Jerusalem on a donkey, emphasizing that Jesus’ entry was not a triumphant monarch but a servant fulfilling the Law. Humenik argues that Palm Sunday points both to Christ’s first coming—victory over sin and death—and to his second coming, presenting a two‑step conquest narrative. He draws parallels between ancient Roman triumphs, modern WWII celebrations, and the future Rapture, portraying Palm Sunday as a celebration of divine victory. The sermon concludes with an exhortation to believers to embrace the victory, identity, and freedom offered through Christ, using mountaintop imagery and urging deeper scriptural study to fully grasp the significance of Easter/Resurrection Sunday.

Hi, I'm John Humenik. Welcome back to the channel. I'm so excited you're here today because we've got a beautiful message to talk about Palm Sunday and the deeper meaning God wants to reveal to you today as he walks you into this gorgeous season of Easter or Resurrection Sunday, depending on how you celebrate it. Functionally, it's the same thing, but either way, we'd like to talk about it both for most people. I want you to understand the essence of what it means for Palm Sunday as it leads us into Holy Week, and the very things that were meant to come to pass as a part of the Jewish culture, which then has now become a part of the Christian culture that we live today. Now, if you're not familiar with a lot of the traditions of the Jewish people at that time, there were 4 primary festivals that occurred in the spring that were a part of what Jesus fulfilled in his first coming on earth 2,000 years ago. It talks about the first fruits, it talks about Passover, Pentecost, and all these other things that are part of the walk that they were doing on a yearly basis that they started way back when, when the Exodus occurred, when they left Egypt under the COVID of night, as they were, as the Pharaoh and the firstborn sons of Egypt had all been killed. Now, when you recognize the Old Testament scriptures, what you'll see is, is that there's physical ceremonies and actual traditions that point directly to Jesus from both a physical perspective and a spiritual perspective. We have to go back to that day, that 10th plague that was basically crushing the Egyptians as a part of this process, because what God was doing as a part of this walk, those 10 plagues, he was mocking the very gods that Egypt worshiped because they weren't gods at all. And that 10th plague where Moses instructed the people to take the hyssop branch and put the blood of the lamb on the, the mantle of the door both sides and the top, because when you, when you connect them, it becomes a cross. It was pointing to Jesus Christ. It was pointing that that firstborn son was going to be sacrificed, which was Jesus Christ, that Jesus was the Passover lamb that died for our sins, your sins, so that you may have everlasting life, that you may have an opportunity to be healed of the infirmities, to be healed of the problems, to be healed of all these things that have been plaguing your life. That's what Holy Week is all about, because Jesus was the fulfillment of the law. He was the one that took the curse on the tree. He was the one that the prophets spoke about millennia and even longer ago. All of these things, even Enoch talked about it way back when. And so what you start to see is, is that Jesus and Holy Week is the fulfillment of the things that were spoken in Zechariah— how he rode in on a donkey, how he was coming lowly and humble to be able to understand that this entrance into Jerusalem was not the glorified King that we will see in Revelation, but rather someone who's coming in as a humble servant of the Lord God, his Father, to fulfill the scripture, the law, and all of the things in order for us to have life and life eternal. That's the essence of Holy Week. That's the essence of what it accomplished, because Jesus set all of these things in motion during this week in order to be able to help others recognize who they are called to be in their walk in Jesus Christ, because he's the one that was pointed to in the scriptures throughout all of time, back to this point where he would go to the cross and die a sinner's death, even though he had committed no crime. The essence of Palm Sunday is the preparation of that. It includes these aspects leading up to the Last Supper, leading up to the communion sacrament that he had given us afterwards, all these beautiful things when he stood before Pilate and kept his mouth closed so that all the accusers could accuse him. But why would he have to retort? 'Cause he knew he was sinless and he was guilty, and he knew the destination wasn't the cross. He knew the destination wasn't the grave. And in fact, he knew the destination wasn't even the resurrection. His destination was the right hand of the Father. And we see that 40 days after his resurrection, during the fact when he rose again, and then Pentecost came shortly thereafter. So what you start to see is, is that Jesus Christ Christ, the Holy Week sets in motion all these beautiful things. Palm Sunday, when they celebrate the coming of the King, it's reminiscent of the victorious walk kings have when they've crushed an enemy. That's actually the backdrop when you understand it from a Greek and a Roman perspective. What happens is kings would go out to war and battle a foreign king or a foreign enemy, and what would happen is, is when they returned, the people would go out to meet them with the prisoners in tow as they them back into the city, and there'd be a huge celebration. Modern day, we would have seen this during World War II when the— when troops came back from Europe and in Japan, those both— those 2 front wars, and they were celebrating in the streets and singing and dancing and giving glory to God. That's the same essence. When you understand that concept, you actually understand how the Rapture will apply, because it's functionally the same thing but just in a different context on a grander scale. So what you start to see is Palm Sunday points to Jesus in his first coming, but Palm Sunday also points to Jesus and his second coming because it's functionally just a 2-step process in which he conquers sin and death the first time, and then he conquers evil and everything that it brought, all the curses that came with it later on in Revelation. So I want to encourage you today as you walk out this life and understand the essence of what Palm Sunday means, to understand that it's about victory. It's about being set free. It's about being cleansed of your past, cleansed of the mistakes that you've made, to, to have a new identity, to be robed in royalty, to be able to walk out life in victory to victory. There are no valleys in the Christian walk. It's only mountaintop to mountaintop. Picture a vision where there are 2 mountaintops connected by a bridge, and that bridge is Jesus Christ. That's the walk. It's always forward and up. So I want to encourage you today. That this Palm Sunday, to set in motion, to get closer to Christ, to sit at his feet, to learn about him, to understand his emotions, his feeling, his love for you, so that you can be filled up and carry that very same love to others that are around you, to be able to receive in full so that you can pour out in full, and to go back into his presence to receive in full to do the same thing. Because that's the essence of what Palm Sunday Holy Week did for all of us. It set in motion a chain of events that the devil wanted to destroy the world of God, the kingdom of heaven, in one death blow, ultimately on Resurrection Sunday, technically on Passover. But what you saw was, is that all of these things just set in motion something that God had already foreknew before the dawn of time. Jesus knew the cross was one of the stops Whenever they spun the universe into existence through the words of the Father. Think about that. Jesus Christ knew that one of the stops that he had on this earth was the cross. This was preplanned. He knew it was going to happen when he emptied himself and made himself nothing and became a babe in a manger, born of a virgin, and understood that he was coming to fulfill all the messianic prophecies spoken by the prophets, short of the ones that are talking about the second coming. that Jesus Christ knew that Palm Sunday truly was the pinnacle of his earthly ministry. It was the one time where people received him, they understood who he was, they probably worshiped him, and they respected him. But it was only a few days later where the world turned against him. The leadership had him gone before a Roman court in order for him to be killed so that they can be set free of this supposed person who was coming in to cause a rebellion. But all it did was set in motion the very thing God wanted, which was eternal freedom for you and me. And that's the essence of Palm Sunday. That's the essence of what Jesus Christ did. And that's the essence of all the things that are a part of his walk that are now part of your walk so that you can not only be set free of the problems that you have today, that you can be a beacon to help others be set free and invite the Holy Spirit into the very scenarios where Christ can shatter the problems of the day. So I want to encourage you today as you walk out this dominating life with Jesus Christ, because that's what it is. It's a dominating life with Jesus Christ, that you go back and read the scriptures and understand the elements that make up Palm Sunday, that make up Holy Week, that make up the events that led to this moment, and all of the scriptures that point to Jesus and talks about what he was about to do in this very moment. Because when Easter or Resurrection Sunday, however you call it, comes, you'll understand the power that Christ brought forth, the essence of what he did when he completely Smashed the chains of sin and death itself and made a mockery of all of it. When you understand what he did on that Sunday, that he broke free, that it became a year of Jubilee, an eternity of freedom and a future for all of us, you'll recognize that not only was it a beautiful moment, it is the greatest moment in the history of the world. God bless.
