The Might of Satan vs The Power of Your Words

In this sermon John Humenik contrasts the destructive influence of Satan—manifested through lies, fear, and spoken condemnation—with the life‑giving authority believers have when they speak God’s spoken word (rhema). He opens with the biblical account of an Amalekite who falsely claimed to have killed King Saul; David’s command to kill the man shows how spoken testimony can seal a death. He then recounts the story of the twelve spies, highlighting how Joshua and Caleb’s faithful report led to victory while the ten fearful spies’ lies resulted in Israel’s wandering. Humenik explains that the Greek word rhema (spoken word) is the means by which God communicates personal direction, and that believers must hear it in their “prayer closet,” journal it, and declare it. He argues that Satan’s might is limited to the lies people accept, and that believers are untouchable when they stand on God’s promises. The sermon weaves numerous scriptures (1 John 5:18, Psalm 118:6, Romans 10:17, John 10:27, Proverbs 18:21, Matthew 13:23, Deuteronomy 8:18, etc.) to support the claim that spoken faith produces prosperity, healing, and victory. Practical steps are offered: daily quiet time, journaling, speaking scripture, preparing spiritually (likened to Tom Brady’s game‑plan preparation), and maintaining obedience. Humenik urges listeners to examine the words they speak, reject Satan’s lies, and consistently align their speech with God’s word to experience continual triumph, abundance, and divine protection.

Then David called one of his men and said, go, strike him down. So he struck him down and he died. For David had said to him, your blood be on your head. Your mouth has testified against you when you said, I killed the Lord's anointed. Welcome to the channel. I'm John Humenik, and today I'm bringing you a prophetic teaching known as the Might of Satan versus the Power of Your Words. If you're new to my channel, Please subscribe and share this video with at least 3 people that need to hear this powerful message and the power of your words. The first verse today comes from the right time when the Philistines struck down King Saul. A foreigner, an Amalekite, came to David and gave him news that Saul had died. But there's a twist. Listen to this. He arrived 3 days later and spoke to David about Saul's death. The twist was that he lied about killing Saul because he expected to have a reward for slaying the king and ushering in the kingdom of David. Even though David probably didn't know that the man didn't kill Saul, David had him killed anyway. Why? Because his words testified against himself. The might of Satan versus the power of your words will be a revelation knowledge that teachings that comes from the mouth of God. Here you will understand the depths of darkness that can be brought into this world by your acceptance of evil and your spoken lies, contrasting that to the power of your words when you speak life and life abundantly. Let's hop over to the scripture that we talk about from time to time on this channel. The 12 spies that went out into the Promised Land by God's command Through Moses. Here we have 2 great men, Joshua son of Nun and Caleb, that returned with a report that the land is indeed flowing with milk and honey. It's ripe for them to overcome the people and take it as their special possession, as a gift from God. 40 days passed from the moment Moses sent them and they returned. In that time, the 10 other spies Brought back a bad report. Numbers 13, verses 31 through 33. But the men who had gone with him said, we can't attack those people, they're too strong for us. So they began to spread lies among the Israelites about the land that they had explored. They said, the land we explored is the one that devours those who live there. All the people we saw were very tall, like Nephilim. The descendants of Anak were Nephilim, and they felt as small as grasshoppers, and that's how they must have looked to them. Who got what they spoke? Caleb and Joshua, who said, surely we can take this land, or the 10 spies that says, we aren't strong enough, we can't attack them, these people are too strong for us? Both. Both got that what they had said would happen. This teaching today will explore the revelation knowledge that God wants to give you. You can either choose to speak death over yourself, or you can choose to speak life. And there's no gray area, no lukewarm middle. You are either succeeding and growing, or you are stagnant and losing ground. And dying a slow death. The might of Satan is found in the believer in this verse. 1 John 5:18. We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin. The one who's born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one can't harm them. Satan has no might or power over the believer. Couple that with Psalm 118:6, and it says, the Lord is with me, I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? You will find that the believer is not only safe, they're untouchable. You might be asking, well, why is there sickness in the world? Why do bad things happen to God's people? Why are people still in spiritual bondage, financially broke, or struggling with every or any step they take? The answer is simple: where's their faith? Romans chapter 10, verse 17 says, consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. The believer never looks at the natural and accepts the outcome he or she sees. They stand on the word of God and believe it, Here's a secret that your Sunday school Bible teacher didn't tell you. The word about Christ is the Greek word rhema. It's not the other Greek word logos, which means written word. Rhema means spoken word. How do you know the spoken word? God gives it to you in your prayer closet. You see, here's the secret. God tells you by his voice that things are not what they seem. He says to stand on his promises. He encourages you that you're the head and not the tail, that you're more than a conqueror in Christ. All blessings in heaven that belong to Christ belong to you. You operate under an open heaven, meaning that you can pull down any blessings whenever you want. The believer doesn't ask those questions about sickness, bad things happen to good people, or other questions like that. The believer stands firm on the foundation that That Jesus Christ is victorious, that every sunrise is a promise of a new day. New mercies, new graces are available. Where darkness abounds, grace abounds greater. That's why when the devil gets loud, it means your breakthrough is just around the corner. It means that your praise of the Lord is your strength. God speaks through a language of obedience. The power of your words can overcome anything the enemy throws at you because you have been backing of heaven behind every single thing you say. This is a daily battle, the daily renewing of your mind. Do you accept the words Satan plants in your head that you think that your own? Think about that. The words that are coming into your mind, are they your own, or has the devil planted them in there? Or do you hear the words of God? Do you read the words of God from the Bible and instead believe them and hold fast to them? Because the believer doesn't quit. The believer knows they're blessed in their coming and going. They prosper in their work. Everything they put their hands to grows. Sure, there's real prosperity in the gospel. Sure, there's real dramatic healing in the gospel. But do you see it happening in your life? Ask yourself the question, what part of my life lacks peace? That's an area that needs surrender to God. What area isn't prospering? Ask for more information about that area. Ask for more wisdom. Ask for more help. Ask for discernment to see things as they are and should be, and not how the world presents itself. This is the faith of the believer, being utterly convinced that God will do what he said he'll do and partnering with him in the areas he wants you to assist. This is an area where many believers will fall short. They read verses like Matthew 13:23, Deuteronomy 8:18, and they miss where they have to do something. Sure, God will send blessings your way. Sure, gifts will show up on your doorstep. Sure, food and other things will be brought to you literally on a silver platter. But you can't live off of those donations. They're not meant to be an ongoing sustaining factor in your life. You are supposed to be that sustaining factor. It's through the work of your hands, through the blessings of God and the anointing that you already have, that you're supposed to operate in that abundance. Let's look at those 2 scriptures. Matthew 13:23, it says, but the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop Yielding 100, 60, or 30 times what's sown. Keyword: produces. Deuteronomy 8:18: But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth and so confirms his covenant which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. Keyword again: produce. God isn't in the business of creating invalids that can't take care of themselves. He isn't going to serve you Day and night and night and day. You're gifted for a purpose in life. God's expecting you, not your spouse or the government or anyone else, to do it. You're not entitled to anything. You're not entitled to anything the government's willing to give you, although there's nothing wrong with seeking out any form of help when you need it. Just don't make a living on it. It's meant to be seasonal, not An eternal process. Both verses show that it's God that gives you the ability to produce wealth. Well, how does that apply to you? It's very simple. Sit in your prayer closet and journal the word of God. Now, when I tell people this statement and they're— and they don't come into agreement, I hear 2 common answers. I can't hear the voice of God, or God doesn't speak to me in that way. And both of those are a lie. Why? Because here we go. John 10:27, Jesus says, my sheep listen to my voice. I know them and they follow me. John 8:43, why is my language not clear to you? Because you're unable to hear what I say. John 10:27 rebuts the statement that you can't hear God's voice. Jesus clearly says, my sheep listen to my voice, which clearly has the prerequisite That you hear him first. Can't listen if you can't hear. John 8:43 rebuts the second statement that God doesn't speak to you that way. It's because it's not God's— isn't God isn't speaking to you. It's because you've chosen not to listen, not to believe that you can hear, or some other reason that's blocking you. This is where the might of Satan takes a hold of your life. What words Are you believing his and the world's or your own? Let me tell you a brief story that will explain this nicely. I had a conversation with 2 nurses who believe the lie that you can jinx something by saying something good. Now, you can definitely cause chaos in your life when you speak something bad. They were stuck in this mindset that whenever someone would say words, things are quiet, That it would jinx or curse the situation, and all of a sudden there'd be a rush of patients into their office or hospital they're working in. They gave power to Satan and depowered the word of God. How do you— might ask? It's simple. When you declare it's quiet, you have the backing of heaven that whatever storm is going on, that the things will quiet down. It's not the trigger for the opposite. They believe the lie that speaking life would bring death. Satan literally took their power away from them with a lie. Instead of standing in faith that the power of your words— because the Holy Spirit backs those words— they chose not to speak life and rather chose silence, which, since there's no middle ground, they could be walking into daily storms with no way out. God has given you creative power. He's a creative God, meaning that you have authority to speak and declare and command things to come into alignment with God's will. His word even states that as you fall deeper into sin, he'll let that happen to giving you over to that pain and suffering. Hence the questions that we spoke about before: why do God's people suffer? They suffer either because this storm is meant to turn into a testimony and strengthen their faith, Like Romans 5:3 says, not only so, but we are also glorified in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance. And James backs this up from chapter 1, verses 2 through 4. It says, consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. Storms aren't the battleground, they're the testing ground. They are the places you get to exercise your faith, being completely convinced that God will do his part. You do yours, either through praise, worship, and thanksgiving, either by declaring the scriptures over your life or the things you know God will bring to pass, or you step into prayer and intercede over your situation and others. The legendary Tom Brady prepared for each game like few in history. In an interview once, he would go over the entire game plan. If they had 150 offensive plays, he and his team would review every single one and talk about the situations the defense could counter his offensive play. And he would do this every single week, which is why after a bye week and in the Super Bowl, He won 3 out of 4 games. It's an incredible record because he had an extra week to prepare. He explained it further like this. He said the team would sit down and go into every play's detail. What defensive player or formation would disrupt this play so much that they would have to call an audible? What would be a secondary play that would be called with the personnel on the field that would work with that defensive setup? When would they call timeouts? Why so much detail and study? Because Tom Brady knew two things: that practicing and preparing was absolutely critical to success when facing defensive storms. Number two, he knew that every game came down to five to seven different plays. Conceding even one was never worth it. Every play mattered. That's what God is teaching you. Every storm that the devil might want to overpower you with has a biblical and godly answer to it. Sometimes you have to call on an audible and do something different in your life. Sometimes the preparation you put in is exactly the play you need to be run to be victorious. God knows and can tell you how to walk this out. Storms are scary and difficult. Storms are game day challenges by the enemy because he wants to win. You win not because you rise to the occasion. Think about that statement. You don't rise to the occasion. You win because of the preparation in your prayer closet. You win because of your study time in the Bible, where you can declare the verses over your life and your family and your situation. You win because you know that you ask your Father in Heaven and have an angelic army at your disposal. To come and intercede at any time, just like Jesus said in Matthew 26:53, do you think I cannot call on my Father and he will at once put at my disposal more than 12 legions of angels? You win with the power of your words because you are more than a conqueror, that you trample on snakes and scorpions, which means the devil and his army. You win because the devil is like a roaring lion. He's not a lion. He's like one. There's a very big difference when you study that nuance. Another word that's used here to appear is appears powerful. In fact, he's not. We've already covered earlier because he can't touch the believer. Studying the word touch from 1 John 5:18, you see there's a deeper meaning in the Greek. It means to modify Or change by touching. That's interesting. That's an interesting take. It doesn't mean to lay your hand upon someone. It actually means to divert or change your destiny. You might see the might of Satan versus the power of your words can be summed up in this one simple statement: you are the one that gives power to the enemy. You are also the one that can depower the enemy. The lines of life are drawn and they're very clear. Which path do you choose? Do you walk in victory, believing and coming into agreement with all the words of the Bible that belong to you? Because guess what? They all belong to you. All the promises are yours. All the victories are already fought, won, and you're just walking the battles out. Or do you concede to the fake might of Satan, thereby giving him the power he doesn't have over you? To come in and modify your life in destructive ways, to harm your spouse, your children, your parents, your family. Think about this: your friends, your church, your work, your school, and more. Where do you draw the line and say enough is enough? Solomon said it best in Proverbs 18:21: The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Whatever you speak will happen. Whatever you believe You will speak, and that's a bad fruit. Or guess what? It's eating spoiled foods. But if you have a heart that's filled with goodness, guess what happens? You're going to be speaking good things. You're going to be eating healthy foods. And you know that what you believe is in your heart because it always comes out of your mouth. You can't cover that up. No one can hide that. Even the greatest liar in the world can't Can't do that. Stand on the promises of God every single day. Let the storms come. Jesus slept through them. Don't let the devil become a distraction and take your eyes off of what God wants on your life, because the devil will even distract you with godly tasks that you weren't supposed to do to keep you from fulfilling the current season and your overall destiny. God's established his covenant with you, empowering you with a great power. He placed His Almighty Holy Spirit inside you. He's given you all that you need to be successful in this season, and not only that, to thrive and not just survive. If you're stuck in any part of your life, sit in your prayer closet and journal all the things you need to reveal and uncover in this season to fulfill it. Then you'll create a lifestyle of obedience, dependency on God, and tap into the source that never runs dry. Victory will be as common as each sunrise because God will back it through miracles, signs, and wonders. Every day you put your faith into action because that's where faith abounds. So does God's power in your life. If you want to understand that in the power of the Holy Spirit, and as you're walking things out, that you speak these things into being, your heart is the source of those words. And if those source comes from your prayer closet, the quiet time that you get with God every single day, you get those words from the Bible that the might of Satan will become depowered every single day. The power of your words will trample on every single attack that comes against you because you will speak healing, you will speak deliverance, you will speak victory. You will walk in and keep a clear mind and a clear focus that what's ahead of you is yours. And guess what happens? You will always go from victory to victory, and you will never be defeated. You will operate from a position of power and authority unlike anything in history, because you will be operating from the throne room of God every single day. Remember, a king or queen doesn't get off the throne to slap a peasant. A king or queen declares. You are a priest in the kingdom of God. What does a priest do? pray and intercede and ask, and ask God to move mountains on your behalf to be able to accomplish great things. But when God says speak to the mountain, guess what? You can speak. And so I want to encourage you today that these things that God wants to deposit in you and operate to and from, these are the postures, these are the places that allow you to be successful in ways you never thought possible. And these are the areas That your words, the power of your words, can not only accomplish great things, you will be able to stay in victory, to go from victory to victory. And there is no defeat, there are no draws. It is just conquering to conquering to conquering. No different than Joshua as he operated after the Battle of Ai, where he never lost and defeated all those kings listed in Judges. Or King David, where he conquered all his enemies and lived a life of peace. That's the essence of what God wants you in your life. He wants you to live a victorious life over and over again, one filled with prosperity, one filled with good health, one filled with freedom, one filled with a hope for today and a hope for tomorrow. And I, I just encourage you deeply to just look at the things that you're saying. And the moment you try to speak something that isn't aligned with the word of God, take that into your prayer closet, reveal the truth, get that fixed, and move on in victory every single day. And you will see God move in ways that you never thought possible. And that will just
