Ep. 262: If You Think Your Business Is "Different", Think Again

John Jonas argues that business owners often wrongly think their work is too unique to outsource. A shoe seller on eBay resisted delegating listings, but other sellers doing the same work scaled by handing it off. OFS can handle tasks across industries, including those with strict regulations like HIPAA.

Welcome to the Secret Sauce of outsourcing podcast that's dedicated to making you better at working with OFS online Filipino specialists. This is episode 262. If you think your business is different, think again. I have conversations with people all the time who are like, oh, yeah, but my business is different because we have sensitive client information. Or my business is different because I can't really do that thing. Or. So I'm just gonna give you an example. I have a neighbor who. He sells shoes on ebay and he has like three to five thousand pairs of shoes in his basement. I've been down to his basement. It is unbelievable. Like a gigantic room. Wall to wall shelves with aisles that are about this wide. You have to walk down them like sideways. Floor to ceiling shoes everywhere. It's incredible. And he's always wearing some new unique pair of shoes. At Christmas, he shows up with Grinch shoes like Nike Grinch, all green, fuzzy. And it's amazing. And I've talked to him quite a few times about hiring ofs to work in his business for him. And every time he's like, oh, there's nothing that they could really do for me. My business is different. I have to do it all by myself. Listing, really. Listing takes me 30 seconds, and it's just easier to just do it myself. And every time I'm like, look, I believe that there are things that only you can do. I mean, he's really amazing at sourcing shoes and selling them, right? But then I get an email from someone else on ebay that says, hey, I just hired my sixth ofs and these are the things that they do for me. They take the listings and they post them on and they do, but then turn around and I get an email from another ebay seller and they say to me, I run an ebay business selling whatever it is that they're selling. I don't even know. And I just hired my sixth ofs and in my business, they do this and this and this and this. And they told me, like, oh, they do my listing for me. It saves me 20 seconds per listing, which is what my friend just said. Oh, yeah, my business is different. They can't do that. So guess who works less? Because I actually think my friend's business is pretty big, but I know he works like crazy. I understand that every business has their own unique selling point, but that's about it. Most business is the same as other businesses, where if someone in your industry has OFS working for them, well, you can too. And we have people in every single industry. Yes. Your industry. Where you have sensitive client information. Yes. People are hiring ofs and they're working with that sensitive client information. They figured out how to make it work. Even with regulations and HIPAA laws and privacy and the whole thing. It's all working. OFs are doing that thing? Yes. That thing that you think nobody else can do. OFs are doing it. If you want to know what OFs are doing in your industry, go check out ofstasks.com I got emails like 60 different business owners in different industries across the board saying, here's what ofs are doing for me and my business right now. And the tasks that they're doing shocked me. Ofstasks.com.
