Let's get a little bit better at looking at worker profiles today. Hey guys, my name is John Jonas and today we are looking at onlinejobs ph and gonna look at some worker profiles and I'm gonna show you kind of what I look at when I'm looking at them. So let's dive into this. So here I am on onlinejobs. Ph. I have searched for ecommerce which is gonna bring me any profile that has the word ecommerce in it. So these aren't super targeted. But that's not the point here. So we're going to look at profiles, titles, pictures, salaries, education, skills and kind of give you my thoughts on it. So as I scroll through here, anytime someone says virtual assistant lead generation, like virtual assistant lead generation, customer support, data entry. Wow, those are four like super generic skills that I see all the time. It's just something to recognize. Like you probably maybe don't really know what you're doing and that's why you put virtual assistant and data entry. That's okay because maybe you're going to be a really dedicated, hard working person. You're just looking for a job. You know, if they have a bunch of experience in it, that's a different story. But generally that's what I see when I see those words. Looking for a couple specific things here. Virtual assistant. So interesting. Like I have a pretty good idea what I'm getting with you, right? Like you didn't give me a whole bunch of different skills that you have. You're a virtual assistant and frankly really, really affordable. Almost to the point where like I would question this because it's so low. Three years, it's pretty low. Maybe she's only available for 10 hours a week, I don't really know. But like at least I, I don't feel like you're trying to scam me right off the right at the front, right? Like you're trying, you're trying to be very honest with me. So here's an interesting one. That picture is different than all the rest of these pictures, you'll notice. So at online jobs we started requiring different photos, but this is probably an older picture. It is, we're going to look at it. So that's something to recognize. Like if a picture is different, like that's different or like this is different. Like you're trying to sell me through sex here. I don't, I don't love it. You know, that immediately turned me off as an, as an employer, like as recruiting a good person rather than just putting a Picture of your face like kind of every other person here. It may be. Okay, may not be, but. So let's look at a bunch of these then. So here's just a random one. I'm just going to explain to you kind of what I'm looking at as I, as I look at this. So id proof of 84. So most of these are pretty high and so that's something to be concerned about. If it's a low ID proof salary, it's in Filipino pesos. And often they'll list their salary in pesos but sometimes they want US dollars, we've translated it either way into US dollars and then their amount of hours a week that they're available now just so you know, just because someone puts their hourly rate at 250 an hour or they put that they're available 10 hours a week and they want to make 50,000 pesos doesn't mean they want to make 50,000 Pesos. As the rate at 10 hours a week it maybe means that that's their full time rate and you'll kind of need to negotiate with them about it. Sometimes they do mean it, but the point is you have to talk to them about it. Bachelor's degree I'm not super concerned about but experience I am. Like how long is your experience in these things? If you haven't told me any time then it probably means you probably don't have much time in it. So scrolling down tests they've taken IQ scores, something over 100 is pretty good. Something over 125 is like really, really good. So 113, like that's great. I'm gonna be happy with that disc. You need to learn about this if you're gonna use these English. So they, a lot of them have taken a test and it's worth probably looking at. If you go here, this page, you'll see like the scale. Just so you know, this is a high eng. So these two are interesting to me. Last active is when the person last logged into the site. So this was today and I want to know that someone's been active if I'm going to actively recruit someone. Because if they haven't been active in a year then the chances of them replying I'm probably wasting my time. And so I'm going to look at this, this number or this date and see how long has it been since they've been active. Also I really like to see the members since an older profile tells me they're more stable. Just generally brand new profiles. It's Fine. But if you get an older profile means they've been doing this longer. So then usually I'm going to read something like this and if you just give me a long list of things that you have in your. Without writing any content, I don't like it. I'm a financial manager graduate. That's good. I've experienced working as a VA for two years for an E Commerce dropshipping and print on demand business that is based in the US So English is not perfect, but it's pretty good. Right. And then you give me a list. My responsibilities are list comma separated. Right. I'm not. I'm not super interested in that. And so that's something that I'm looking at here. Generally I'll talk about other things. So skills. If I've looked at this, I have a pretty good idea of who I'm looking at. Right. Like skills. But I still want to know what you've rated yourself best at. And there's a difference between what you've said you're the best at and what your four stars at. Like five stars. And four stars is where someone really thinks like, okay, I'm. I. This is what I'm really good at. This is my primary skill. Like a five star thing. Four star is fine. Then I'm going to scroll down and see did you put some one, two, three star skills? Because that tells me probably that you're being honest at least. Like if you. She's probably saying here, if you really want to hire me to do hr, I'll do it. But I don't like it. Right. Event planning, same thing. Or appointment setting. I'm not. But data entry. I like. I'm really good at that. Admin assistant and email management. Great. And then you can get a good idea of their English speaking and their writing. Obviously she's not a writer. Like she's. She doesn't want to do it. She's rated herself low in it. Right. Marketing and sales, same thing. Okay. So let's look at another one. So this is an interesting one. Number one, because the picture was different. I don't love it. Although sometimes you got to try and stand out. Right. So this is an interesting one. And often when I look at profiles, I'm looking at what is your personality like. And so in this case, 10 years SEO expert, specialist. It's your loss if you don't hire me. Okay. Wow, that's like in the Philippines. That is super different. Filipinos are not bold like that. And so if I were to consider Hiring this person, I would do a very thorough interview to make sure that they're willing to take instruction that they're not just going to give you. Here's how I do this. And that's it. And we're done. For me, I don't love it. Ten years SEO, three years writing. Okay, so I'm going to look at their experience. Scrolling down. Like I said before, like 125. IQ is really high. Good English now. Last active in November. Member since January. So if you've been a. If you've only been a member since January. So this is the kind of thing that, like I'm looking at. You've been a member since January, but you have 10 years of SEO experience. Something's wrong there. Where have you been doing 10 years of SEO experience and you haven't had a profile on online jobs? Online Jobs is the site for getting an SEO job. You can be using upwork, that's fine. But if you're using upwork, you're using Online Jobs. And especially you've been doing this for 10 years. So it doesn't sit right there with me, obviously. I'm going to read this again. That's fine. Skills again, I'm going to look at like, what are your best things? I get a pretty good idea that your writing content is not going to be your skill. I mean, there's some low skill ratings, which I like to see. Okay, let's look at another one. So the reason I pulled this one up was because her picture was twisted sideways, which again is just a. Something different. And maybe you're trying to stand out and maybe you're doing something silly. Again, an older, like, older member sense. Cool. I like it. You know, B2 upper intermediate. I would certainly read this. And I've been working in a BPO company for four years and freelancing as a virtual assistant. Four years. I experience in. Learned a lot of different accounts I've handled. So this is, this is pretty good English, especially for a B2 upper intermediate. Right? But that's something I would consider. Like what, what's your, what's your English like here? Let's look at another one. Web developer. So this is the one with the odd picture and interesting salary. Again, you know, like, that's a reasonable salary. It's kind of low for a Web developer, but 30 hours a week. Okay, I could see it. IQ, good. English, good. Here. This is, this is cool. Like you've been a member since 2010. You're probably more trustworthy. Like you've Been doing this for a long time. Clearly, you know, that's. I like that. Top skills. So you're really good at php. So we, we limit the number of skills they can rate themselves. Five stars and four stars in. So to see that someone has done one five star skill, it's like, okay, cool. That like I, you're good at PHP, that's you're not as good at MySQL or WordPress development, but you're still good at them probably. But this is what you're really good at and that's good to see. Okay, so let's look at another one. So just so you know, I've picked out profiles that I thought would stand out here. That's why probably some of these, you know, like they're not optimal profiles. So this one is interesting in that it was $300 a month. So US$300 for 40 hours a week is really low and that concerns me. But so let's see, you know, virtual assistant, WordPress, SEO. So those are kind of the things that I told you before is like, okay, maybe you don't know what you're doing now. Five years experience is really good. Here's something I'm definitely going to look at. You've been hired part time and that was a recent hire. It's November now. Just something to keep in mind as we do this IQ Score, English Score suite. And then again, I'm going to look at their skills. So here's another one. So these two profiles were right next to each other in the list when I pulled them up. This one which was a super low salary and this one which was a super high salary. And obviously we miscalculated this hourly. I don't know what happened with our algorithm. So you notice the difference between these two profiles and the titles like virtual assistant, WordPress, web admin. I don't know what that even means. SEO and social media Wiz as compared to E Commerce Project Manager, Social Media Marketing Strategist and Team Handler. Like that's, that's a very. This is definitely a more advanced person than this is just based on the keywords using the title and obviously super expensive. Six years of experience. Four years of experience. Right? No IQ tests, which is fine. English is good. Remember since 2015. I love that. So it's older. So like when I look at this one, there's some specific things that are standing out to me as like okay, you are, you're, you know what you're doing more clearly. And the salary indicates that often higher salary means you're a better person. Sometimes it just means you've been around for longer. Like you've recognized that if you put a higher salary, some people just want to pay more because they want to pay more, because they think they're getting the best. If they pay more and you figured out, like, oh, if I put a high salary, then I'm going to make more money and I don't need to necessarily know anymore because someone just wants to hire me anyway. In this case, I'm looking at specific things about this person, like your length of profile, your title, your description. I'm going to read through this and see, you know, how good are you? I'm going to look at your specific skills and make sure, like, these are the things that I want. And this is odd. Like administrators and data entry and email management. Like, those are. Data entry is an odd thing to be the best at. Like that's your top skill is data entry, especially at that cost. Now, maybe as a personal assistant, she is absolutely amazing. Something, something worth looking at. So that kind of gives you an idea of what I'm looking at when I'm looking at profiles. You can see that I got really close to the computer there as I'm looking at these. Often when I'm. When I'm recruiting, I'm going to look at a whole bunch of different people's profiles. And so I don't look at them super carefully up front. I'm going to contact them first or have them apply to the job. And then once I've communicated with them a couple times, then I'm going to go into detail at their profile and then I'm going to combine that knowledge with the knowledge of what I've had in communicating with them. And then that's when I get a really good idea, really good picture of who this person is and whether they're worth hiring or not. My name is John Jonas and I created onlinejobs Phoenix.
