How Loyal Are Filipino Workers - Practical Advice

John Jonas says Filipino virtual assistants show strong loyalty to employers who treat them well. He cites a VA who stayed with him for 15 years, and a programmer who turned down a higher-paying Singapore job to keep working part-time for him.

How loyal are Filipino VAs and are they gonna jump ship with the first better offer they get? So when I first hired my first VA in the Philippines, I, I had no idea that they were going to still work for me. I hired them in 2005. It's 2020 right now as I record this at the very end of 2020 and they still work for me today. And what I've come to see is that in the Philippines there's a culture of loyalty almost to a fault where they'll work for you as long as you treat them well, basically forever. They'll never quit. One of the questions I get or one of the concerns people often have is oh, you're going to hire a VA and then they're going to jump ship as soon as they get a better job offer or a higher paying job offer. And that is true in other countries, it's not true in the Philippines. So I'll give you an example. One time I was going to put one of my VAs who had never talked to customers before and put her in a customer facing role. And I said, hey, as soon as you start talking to customers, customers know you work for me. You're going to start getting job offers from them. And I said, I just want you to pay attention to like how stable the job is here and how I treat you. And she said, oh, don't worry sir, I get job offers every single day. I'm not going anywhere. And that is common. Another time I had a VA who, who worked for me. He was, he was making $500 a month. He was a full time programmer. And this is years and years ago. They don't make, their salaries are much higher than that now. But he got a job offer in Singapore and he was going to make $4,000 a month. And so he said, sir, I need to take this job. This is so good for my family. I'm going to go to Singapore, but don't worry sir, keep working for you part time at the current rate that you're paying me. So he was going to go make $4,000 a month and he was going to work for me 20 hours a week for $250 a month. Their loyalty is just incredible. And this makes such a difference for a small business owner who, as you hire someone and you spend time training them, if they, if they quit or if they jump ship, then that's, that's a major problem. But if you know that you can count on someone to be loyal as long as you treat them well, it'll change the way you build your business at 1vaaway.com, I will teach you how to hire a great VA and I'll talk you through about how you build some of this loyalty and how you treat them well. And that's really the key, is you've got to treat them well in order to have them be loyal to you. So one VAOA. It's $49 and I guarantee you'll find a great VA or I'll give your money. La.
