How to Hire a Bookkeeper from the Philippines. So bookkeeping is one of those menial tasks that's so easy to hire someone else to do and it can be so affordable hiring someone in the Philippines do it and they're really good at it. So I'm going to give you seven steps for hiring a bookkeeper from the Philippines. Step number one, determine exactly what you're looking for. Are you looking for someone with quickbook experience or with zero experience? Or are you looking for a CPA or an accountant? Figure out exactly what the role is that you're looking for. Step number two is head over to onlinejobs PH for the Philippines and browse some resumes. So let's say you're looking for a QuickBooks bookkeeper. You're going to search the keywords bookkeeper QuickBooks or QuickBooks bookkeeper and then you're going to start looking at the resumes that come up. You're going to get a whole bunch of resumes. You have two goals here. Number one, figure out what salary people are asking for on each resume. You're going to look and see like oh, this person's asking for $600 a month for full time work or this person's asking for $800 a month and they're available part time or whatever it is. So that's number one, figure out salary. Number two, you're going to figure out skills like what skills do these people have? Can I find someone that can do this and this and this or can I just find someone who's only good at QuickBooks? There's a whole range of skills that you can find. You can probably find someone that's good at QuickBooks and SEO and maybe social media marketing. It's amazing what skills you'll find. Step number three, now that you know skills and salary is to post your job. So you're going to go on onlinejobs PH and you're going to post a job. So when you post your job you have to write your title, your description, the salary and what skills you're looking for. It's pretty simple, but having browsed the resumes will give you a really good indication of what you're going to put into each of these. Step number four, now that you have people applying to your job, you're going to interview them with lots of questions. So people often want to skip straight to the Skype interview and get people on the phone. And that to me is the wrong way to go about this. The correct way is to save yourself a bunch of time and hassle and start emailing people questions. 1, 2, 3, 4 questions across 5, 6, 10 emails. And this is going to allow you to see all kinds of things about the person. Their attention to detail, how quickly do they respond, how good is their English, what experience do they have? Are there any red flags in hiring this person? So that's a good way to go about this. Spend a couple days emailing them and asking them questions. And then after you've done this quite a bit, then you can get skip to the Skype interview. Step number five, you can narrow it down with a test. Now for a test of a bookkeeper. Maybe you. You ask them, how would you solve this problem? Or how do you do this thing? Or I have this set of records. What are you going to do with these? So you're going to give this to a bunch of people or however many people you have left in your recruiting pool, you're going to give them a test. Now, if this test is going to take them longer than 30 minutes, you should pay for it maybe $10 or $20, and maybe you give it to five different people. It cost you $100 or something. You can get a really good idea of who you should hire. Also in the test, you're not just looking for who does it the best. You're looking for who do I work well with? Because that will make a really big difference. Next step number six, negotiate terms. Here's where you negotiate salary. You negotiate hours. Are they going to work a fixed set of hours for you? Are they free to work whenever they want? How many hours a week are they going to work? What holidays are you going to pay for? What paid time? How are you going to handle paid time off? There's a whole bunch of stuff. You're going to negotiate with this person and then you're going to hire them, which is step number seven. Hire them, give them a job, and maybe that job is hourly, maybe it's a salaried. I always prefer to pay salaried. They like it better than hourly. And it almost always works out better for me. So that's Step number seven is give them a job. My name is John Jonas, and I have helped hundreds of thousands of people hire virtual workers in the Philippines.
