So my weights coach this year gave me some really good tips on how to get into weights and how to get onto a really good schedule. It's been so good for me. So I wanted to give my best tips on hiring a Filipino virtual assistant. So most people think hiring a VA is going to take so long, like it's such a difficult thing. So here's my first tip. Skip the Skype interview. Like, that's the number one thing that takes the most time is doing a video interview with people. You have to set it up, you schedule it, you have to show up on time, they have to show up. If they don't show up and you're just wasting time like it's a disaster. Start by sending emails. Like do an email interview. Send 3, 4, 5, 10 emails. Rather than scheduling a Skype interview up front, you're way more likely to spend less time and you're way more likely to have the person show up on an interview after you've already done email interview with them. So first tip, skip the Skype interview. Interview them via email. Tip number two, don't shortlist candidates. I get emails from people all the time saying, hey John, I just shortlisted my top three candidates, now I'm about to start emailing them and I'm like stop, stop right there. You've already made a big mistake. People in the Philippines are super loyal and if they have a job, they're very likely to even not reply to you if you just contact them. So rather than shortlisting candidates, try contacting a whole bunch of people, cast a super wide net and then interview those people who are available. Your goal isn't to hire the best person. Your goal is to hire the best available person. And that starts by casting a super wide net. So tip number two, cast a super wide net. Don't shortlist candidates right up front. Tip number three is skip the agency. Look, everybody out there is using onlinejobs ph to recruit. We see it every single day. I know people often think like, oh, I don't want to recruit myself, I'll do a crappy job. Someone else do a better job for me, so I'll go to this agency. They're only like $1,500 a month for a person. What you don't know is they're paying that person $450 a month. You're paying their huge markup and they're then going to onlinejobs ph to recruit that person and they're not better at it than you are. And that's the Secret here is you're just as good as anybody else. In fact, you're better at recruiting someone for your own job than someone else's. If you'll take an hour or two, and that's really all it should take is an hour or two, recruit the person to yourself at onlinejobs ph pay the $450 a month for the rest of forever. And I know that's only like a $12,000 a year difference, but you also don' middleman in the way you don't have any office politics in the way you have nothing between you and them that's causing problems, which is so often what we see. So tip number three is go directly to onlinejobs ph go directly to the person rather than going through a middleman, through an agency, with their markup, with their politics, with their office policies and all that junk. Tip number four, and this is probably the most helpful of all, is hire someone to do something you know how to do. So you're not just outsourcing something that you don't know how to do to get something else done in your business. Hire someone to do something that you know how to do and that you can teach someone how to do it. Now, you don't have to teach them every single detail. You can hire someone who's really good at it already. That totally works. But hire someone to do something that you know how to do. It'll make your outsourcing experience so much better. It allows you to train the person, it allows you to give feedback to the person. It allows you to get something off of your plate so you're working less. Then later when you want to hire someone to do something you don't know how to do, you're able to manage the process so much better. So tip number four, hire someone to do something you know how to do. Those are my four big hiring of VA tips. Skip the Skype interview. Cast a super wide net. Skip the agency and hire someone to do something that you know how to do, that you can teach someone.
