The Female Entrepreneur Hesitation to Hire - Practical Advice

John Jonas (speaker) addresses why many female entrepreneurs hesitate to hire virtual assistants, especially from the Philippines. He outlines common reasons (belief that only they can do tasks correctly; tendency to take on all roles), describes benefits (delegation frees time and can improve quality), acknowledges potential downsides (cost/time and hires that don’t work out), and issues a call-to-action to try his hiring system at 1vaoa.com (a $49 program with a money-back promise).

Let's talk about the female entrepreneur hesitation to hire someone. Hey, my name is John Jonas, and I want to talk about the female hesitation to hire someone. So I recently interviewed a female entrepreneur who works with other female entrepreneurs, and she told me, you know, John, this is really amazing, and it's been really amazing to me to hire these VAs in the Philippines. But so many of the women I work with are very hesitant to do this. And we talked through a bunch of the reasons why. Very often women are hesitant because they feel like they're the only ones who can do it right. And I don't know where that comes from, but think if you find that if you hire someone and start training them, you're going to find they can do stuff really, really well. It may not be as good as you would have done it, but they can do stuff really, really well. And. Or often it'll be better than you would have done it, partly because you have so much on your plate that this other person has this one thing to focus on, and they'll get really, really good at it. So another reason to hire that VA that you've been thinking about is because women often have a tendency to take everything on themselves. They'll do all of the work for all of the hats in the business and not hand off anything to anybody else, partly because they feel responsible for the business. It's amazing when you get some other help in your business and you get someone to do one specific thing. What I'll often see of female entrepreneurs is you get someone to do something and you just this amazing burden lifted off of you that you start to completely rely on that person for everything, which is fine initially. You just start getting stuff off of your plate. And you often hear the story told of like, oh, I had this person that was amazing, and they were doing such good work for me. And then I kept giving them more and more and more, and then they finally broke and they just disappeared and they were gone. And I think that's often the case where you get someone good finally and you realize, like, oh, I can get help, but it's just this one person who can help me. It's there. They're the only ones that's. That's not, not the case. So if you're a female entrepreneur watching this, I would encourage you to take a leap of faith and try hiring someone and just see if this will work for you. And I'll tell you up front, like, this doesn't work for everybody. It's not right for everyone. I'VE seen a lot of people this just doesn't work for. But you will never know until you take the leap. And so the potential downside here is you hire someone, it doesn't work out. It costs you a couple hours of time and a couple hundred dollars as you pay them, and it doesn't work out. The potential upside is you realize, yes, I can hire someone. The good news is in the Philippines, they don't care if they work for a male boss or a female boss. They don't care. They'll work just as well. They'll respect you just as much. It's such a good culture for hiring. And so the potential upside is you hire this person, you start to get some time back in your life, you start to be more effective at running your business and things just get better from there.
