Hey, and welcome back. This is. I'm John Jonas, and we're going to talk about the Philippines and why the Philippines here. So when I say the Philippines, I mean the Philippines specifically, and I don't mean anywhere else in the world. And there's a whole bunch of reasons why I talk about the Philippines here. You know, I get people that come to me and hear, oh, you hire people in the Philippines. Oh, I know someone in Vietnam. I'll go to Vietnam and do this. No, that's not right. When I say the Philippines, I mean go to the Philippines specifically. So before I talk about this cultural differences, here's kind of a graphic of some of the guys that I have working for me. And I show you this just so you guys understand a little bit of what you can get done here in these people here. In fact, first, just so you know how I got this graphic done, I sent an email to my guys, to all of my guys in the Philippines and said, hey, I want a picture of all you that I can show to people so that people know you're real. And they sent me back pictures, and I forwarded them on to one of the other guys and said, hey, will you make a collage out of this? And. And this is what he made. He made this graphic with these embellishments and stuff. So that's a little bit of how I work with these people where I don't do the work. I just give the direction. So in this group of people here, I have a couple programmers, a webmaster, people that write content for me. They do social media for me. They post on my personal Facebook account. They write newsletters for me. They do design work. One of these guys now manages a project, which is a really good tip for you guys. Don't go out and try and hire a project manager up front. It can be done in the Philippines. It's just harder. So you need to. You really kind of need to gain their trust before you have them start managing projects for you. So that's kind of a good tip to start off with. I often find people that want to just go hire a project manager and hire a whole team because they don't want to deal with it. And that's not how this works. So that's a little bit of kind of what my guys do for me in the Philippines. And then there's a lot more that they do, but that's a beginning introduction to it. So let me talk really quickly about why the Philippines, why did this work so well for me, and why does it work so well for thousands of people that I've taught how to do this? So here it is. Number one, in the Philippines, there is a culture of honesty to the point where, you know, the first question I get from people often is, well, how do I prevent them from stealing my stuff? And my response is, it's not an issue at all. And not that it's not an issue at all, but this is not India where they want to. They want to steal it and do it on their own. In the Philippines, my guys have my credit cards. They have access to my bank account. They have access to my personal email account. They have username and password to every one of my hosting accounts. They have access to my PayPal account. The only thing they don't do is they don't pay themselves, because then they would know how much each other made. But beyond that, I've literally helped 40,000 Filipinos get jobs probably. And at one time have I heard of someone being dishonest with their employer and, like, stealing something from them. And that was because that employer was really crappy to that one worker and had him do a bunch of work and didn't pay him. So the honesty thing is not an issue in the Philippines. It's a very different situation. However, having said that, please don't go do something you're not comfortable with and be the second person ever to get ripped off. You know, when I started this, I was very cautious with what I gave them, and it was frustrating to me where I gave him special access to my hosting account, and I wanted to give them more, but I didn't trust them. And so the next day, when he had finished the first task, I had to go give him special access to something else. And. And finally I just said, here, here you go. Here's my hosting account. And I've never had a problem with it. And the thousands of people I know are the same way. Okay, so the second cultural thing is they're loyal. Filipinos are loyal almost to it being a fault of theirs, where once they start working for you, they'll never quit working for you. They'll work for you basically forever, as long as you do some things to treat them really well, which means you can teach these people things that you would never teach someone else. You would Never teach a $10 an hour employee in the US how to filter your email for you, because you know they're not going to be there in four months. Where in the Philippines? My guys have been with me for nine years, and they're still with me, even though they get other job offers. And that's part of the loyalty thing in the Philippines. They're very intelligent. They have computers and Internet access, which means you don't have to go through a service to hire them. And that'll make a 6 to $10,000 a year difference on every single person you hire. They're very Americanized. They speak American English, which is very different than Indian English. Especially for a small business owner. It's a very different thing. They actually like America in the Philippines, which is different than most of the rest of the world right now, where they're not real happy with us. And so when you and actually what I've learned about this is when I first started doing this, I was like, oh my gosh, they think I'm this. They love Americans. And it was really kind of silly of me. What I've learned since is that they really like, they look up to foreigners. It's a cultural trait that I haven't seen elsewhere where they look up to their foreign bosses. So I know people all over the world, I know people all over Europe with Filipinos working for them. Canada, Australia, the uk. I know people in Brazil, I know people in Singapore, all over the world who have hired Filipino workers successfully. Another thing about this is Filipinos don't have a problem working for a female boss. They'll work just as well for a female as they will for a male. So you add to this that it's a very third world country. The Philippines is very third world. It is hard to find a job in the Philippines and it's especially hard to find a full time job in the Philippines. There's so much temporary and part time work that when they get a full time job, it's really, really good for them. So if you combine all these things together, here's what happens. Number one, you just hired this person working for a foreign boss. So you elevate their social status, which I know sounds odd, but that's real. You elevate their social status among their peers. You give them a full time job which is hard to find and so they want to keep it. They're honest and loyal to you, so they'll work long term. You can teach them things that they wouldn't have otherwise done because they want to keep their job. They'll go above and beyond what they would have done to otherwise because they want to make sure that you're happy and you're paying them more than anybody else they know well. Okay, so let me talk, let me Tell you two quick stories about that. One of my guys one time told me that he lends money to his dad on a regular basis because he makes so much more than his dad does. He makes $450 a month. Another one of my guys in the Philippines told me that he was teaching all of his friends how to do what he does because he makes more than double what they he was making $450 a month. Now both of these stories are from a couple years ago. Their salaries have gone up since then. But that's a good idea of kind of what you're paying them and how they feel about it. So you give them a full time job which is hard to find in the Philippines. They're working from home on their own hours, which is a dream, everybody's dream. They're working for a foreign boss, you elevated social status, they're making good money and all of a sudden what happens is they will do all kinds of stuff to make sure that they keep their job. The last thing about this is in the Philippines they're not entrepreneurial. They don't want to steal your business. That's the first thing people ask me, well this guy that built this business for you, why doesn't he go do it on his own? They're not entrepreneurial in the Philippines. They don't want to steal your business. They want a job. They want a good, stable, long term job that they can take the paycheck home and support their families. Give it to them, Give them a job, treat them well and they will do amazing things for you. So with that said, this is why we hire in the Philippines and not anywhere else in the world.
