Turn Off Hunger

Jorge Cruise, who has trained Steve Harvey and Oprah, is launching a new coaching program on hunger regulation. He pioneered time-restricted eating as a longevity tool and will host a free 90-minute Zoom event on December 8 to introduce the program.
I have an amazing trainer for you that I want to set you up with.
I'm Jorge Cruise. I'm a celebrity fitness trainer and New York Times bestselling author. In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. It's Friday, which I can't even believe the Friday of December, and I can't even believe it's the end of the year, but I'm excited and I'll tell you why. I've been working very hard for the last couple of months on new coaching program, and it's something I want to share with you here on the podcast first because this coming Monday on December the 8th, I'm going to be launching a free 90-minute event that I want you to come to. It's going to be in the evening and it's live on Zoom, and I'll give you all the information a little later in the show and they'll be in the show notes. But I want to share with you right now what has become my life's work and really the passion that has fueled me for the last couple of years. Because I wrote a book 5, almost 6 years ago called The Cruise Control Diet, and it was about time-restricted eating. And if you were to ask me, you know, I'm 54 right now, but even back then, you know, almost 6 years ago, why I wrote that book, because, you know, I wasn't quite 50 yet, and I knew that in midlife there are certain things that can extend life, add decades to midlife, right? And certain things that can make us feel good and, and really not just feel good, but feel great all day. And I knew time-restricted eating, or intermittent fasting, was the key. You know, I was living in Malibu at the time, and I did a segment with Entertainment Tonight that was pretty fun. I'll show you the clip here. Now, Cameron, let's discuss Hollywood's fast fix to losing weight. And when I say fast, well, I mean fasting.
This is something that you and I know a little bit about. Stars like Jennifer Aniston and JLo have supposedly done this diet at one time or another. It's called intermittent fasting, but Lots of questions like, is it good for you and does it work? Well, I had to find out.
For me, intermittent fasting is probably the most effective technique I've ever discovered, and it's the hottest thing in Hollywood where everyone from Hugh Jackman to J.Lo are doing this.
Who are some of the celebrities that you train and you work with?
And I've been working with Steve Harvey, been working with Brooke Burke. She's in better shape now at 46 than she was in her 20s. I've had the privilege of even working with Khloe Kardashian for Revenge Body. And my career started with Oprah 20 years ago.
People hear the word fasting and they just freak out. So what is intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting is where you eat for an 8-hour window and you fast for 16 hours. It's the most effective way. You can drop up to a pound a day if you do this. But I can tell you, for me, it was understanding that as much as that was a key kind of solution to extending life and to getting rid of belly fat, of course, course. It was tough to do. And this is 6 years ago almost, you know, and I can tell you when that book came out, a lot of people liked the idea, but the biggest problem was, well, how do I turn down hunger? And there were no GLP-1 drugs, if you guys know what I mean. There was no Ozempic. No one was on that kind of stuff. Uh, today's things, things are very different. You know, I'm working on my next book. It's my 40th book. It'll be out next year. And before that book comes out, what I want to do is invite you to this event on, on Monday that will give you the insight of my new coaching program that I hopefully uh, hope that you will join us on, you know, where I coach every Mondays around 5 o'clock, uh, a group of people, small group of people that are like-minded and want to add not just decades to their life in midlife, but want to cure belly fat and want to restore lean muscle and want to live their best life. Because I can tell you, in midlife myself, it's not about really settling, it's about upgrading your life. And I'll tell you what it all comes down to, it's understanding that as much as time-restricted eating is a tool for extending lifespan. The key to it all is turning off physical hunger. Now, a lot of us think the only way to do that is GLP-1 drugs. Now, don't get me wrong, GLP-1 drugs are great, especially if your doctor prescribes it to you because you're at a certain weight where you need that, that kickstart. You need that special kind of magic to, to get you there. And, and GLP-1s really will cut down your hunger. You know, the thing is they don't really address the root of the problem. And the root of the problem really comes down to understanding something that a lot of people never talk about. And it's only because of COVID that I ever discovered this. And in the show notes, I'm gonna put some of my podcasts that I did during COVID with Dr. James D. Nicolai Antonio. He's the author of a book called "The Salt Fix." And for me, interviewing him and reading his book and then talking to people like Robb Wolf, who's been a dear friend of mine for years, and even Dr. Jason Fung in Toronto, I understood that it wasn't about necessarily needing eating a GLP-1 drug. It was— that wasn't even around during COVID if you guys remember. It was about mineral deficiencies, and that if there's a mineral deficiency, your body gets dysregulated, specifically with hunger regulation. And there are 3 key minerals that can restore hunger regulation. Now, the first one is probably the most shocking, and it's been written about in all sorts of magazines. It's called sodium, basically salt. And a lot of people have been taught to be scared of salt. It's almost like this shaming of salt out there. And I can tell you It's been many decades where we've been told by even the government that there's a regulation in sense of how much salt you should have in a particular day. And why is that? Well, if you pair salt with a high glycemic load or high insulin load, which comes from eating processed sugars and carbohydrates, you can raise blood pressure. So there is a concern there. But in today's world, most of us know if we're trying to be healthy that a high protein diet is a way to do that. And you can eat healthy carbs, you know, you wanna eat healthy carbs. So that won't be a problem if you eat the healthy carbs and you focus in on good protein. Protein. So then what's the problem? Well, it's just something we don't do anymore. And so if you can add salt, sodium, back into your diet with two other minerals, magnesium and potassium, that our ancestors used to get from the foods they ate from the soil, and now you have to add it in a different form because our— the, the crop rotations that have been occurring for the last 50 years have depleted minerals like magnesium and potassium out of our food sources, whether you're plant-based or animal-based. So by adding these three essential, uh, minerals, electrolytes, sodium, magnesium, potassium, you restore your body's ability to regulate physical hunger. So I'm going to teach you at this seminar, this event really on Monday, how to create what I call Zero Hunger Water, which will teach you how to really regulate your hunger physically. And it's been written up in magazines. If you go to my website, jorgecruise.com, we have the free recipe there. You can check it out in the show notes here as well. And it's kind of a do-it-yourself recipe that the only complaint I've had is that people don't have time to make it because you got to buy 3 3 things from Amazon, but most of us already have salt, so it's just like 2 things. And you add a little Stevia or monk fruit, a little lemon, and you've got this delicious way to get those minerals into your diet. So we're going to talk about that on Monday and how you can make that, but we're also going to talk about 2 other, 2 other important elements. The second element, really the second pillar of this program, is understanding emotional hunger. We'll talk about that tomorrow on Saturday because I feel like emotional hunger is probably the thing that sabotages most people the most, especially if you've had some sort of adverse childhood where maybe you some trauma, whether it was physical or emotional, and now the only way you regulate that trauma is by increasing dopamine through eating sugar and carbohydrates, or maybe even alcohol. Lots of things can give us dopamine, but there's a lot of positive things that don't raise insulin that aren't related to sugar and carbs. And we're going to talk about that tomorrow because I feel like understanding the work of this woman named Dr. Anna from Stanford— she wrote a book called The Dopamine Nation, we'll talk about that tomorrow— it's going to change your life because you're going to understand that you're not really at fault for wanting sugar and carbs, but there's a way to deregulate that. We'll talk about it fully tomorrow that will empower you, you know, give you an ability to not eat just because you're, you're having a bad day, you're stressed or, or depressed or sad or overwhelmed or even excited, because there's any reason you could have sugar and carbs. So we'll talk about that on Saturday. And then on Sunday, what I want to talk to you guys about is about how to restore lean muscle mass, because I can tell you, at 54, for me, that's been something that I've really led with. You know, I go to the gym for 2 hours almost every day, and I really, really enjoy it because for me, not only does it create dopamine, which is great because it causes us to not eat emotionally, but it builds the muscle that I love. That what most doctors will talk to you about is the, the organ of longevity, lean muscle. Because what people like Dr. Peter Attara will tell you, the author of Outlive, is that the number one thing that causes like disability and even like early mort— mortality in most people as early as 65 is falling and breaking a hip because your bones are weak. Now, the only way bones get weak is if the muscles are weak. But if the muscles are strong, the bones are strong. And obviously, if you have musculature that's strong, you're going to feel great, you're going to be strong, you're going to have a high metabolism. And that's something I wrote 24 years ago with my first book, and my buddy Tony Robbins wrote the introduction to called 8 minutes in the morning. So on Sunday, we'll talk about how simple 8-minute exercises can restore lean muscle mass without having to go to the gym. And just having enough protein in your diet will be important too. We'll talk about that. So I hope this all sounds really good, guys, because I want you to join me on this adventure. And I know it's December and you're probably thinking, ah, I'm just gonna eat cake and cookies and, and we'll worry about this in January. We'll have another challenge in January, but if you want to get a start on next year now so you start January 1st in the best shape of your life and do it for free with me. I would love to have you join me on Monday. We'll have more on that, uh, on tomorrow's podcast as well. But please check out all the show notes and please— I'll be here tomorrow— and share this message with your loved ones, especially if you have anyone that wants to kind of overcome midlife and wants to make this next chapter an upgrade and really not just add decades maybe to midlife but also cure that belly fat and build that lean muscle that we know is going to keep us strong for decades to come. So I hope that makes good sense, guys. I look forward to you sharing this message, and please join our new newsletter at jorgecruise.com. You're going to love everything coming out later this month. All right, peace and purpose. I'll talk to you real soon.
