Joshua Jacoby built My Favorite Web Designs from a solo operation in 2009 to a multi-team agency by 2020, working 100-hour weeks in the early years. My name is Joshua Jacoby. I started My Favorite Web Designs in 2009. I had learned the impact of developing a solid web presence and brand, and I used my experience coding and designing to form our company. For the first 4 years, I was a sole provider. I did all the coding and graphics myself, and we grew quite rapidly. I worked 100 hours a week, and I knew I needed to scale the organization to meet our clients' needs. By 2016, our team in the US had grown to 7 people, and our client base had grown. In addition to handling a larger volume of clients, we were also handling much larger clients. As of 2020, we have teams dedicated to video, social media, coding, graphics, local listings, landing pages, blogging, writing, ads management, and more. I still direct strategy for almost all accounts, and we have highly trained managers who can execute and have worked with us for many years. As time has gone on, almost all of our accounts have retained despite a month-to-month no-contract term. The majority of these companies have grown, and some quite large to where we are doing the work of several in-house employees. For this reason, our workload is constantly increasing whether we take new clients or not. We continue hiring and training as aggressively as we can, as it takes quite a bit of time to train and trust people in these technical professions.
