11 Days till Homestead Dream house

This content was created by Victor Justin Rhodes. This content was uploaded by Victor Justin Rhodes. This is a YouTube vlog titled "11 Days till Homestead Dream house" (created 2024-09-01) containing an English family homestead update. The excerpt is a casual, diarized vlog-style recording featuring at least two speakers (an adult presenter—narrating and directing tasks—and a child respondent), with references to family members (Lily, Jonah, Josiah, Waylon, Big Daddy, Grandma, Papaw). The host discusses progress toward moving into a rebuilt house in 11 days (painters, electrical inspection, certificate of occupancy, flooring, cleaners), organizing belongings and toys, assigning and supervising chores, trail and landscaping work, animal care (turkeys, cows, small animals), troubleshooting a fence energizer, hay bombing, and other day-to-day homestead activities.

Happy Sunday seed day! Austin, y'all forgot little Waylon's tool— I mean toy. Waylon, you left your toys. Also, little baby Waylon's already— this morning I put that there thinking it's probably not safe there. It wasn't. It already jumped from there to there. All right, where should we put these so that we not only remember, give it to them, we don't lose them? Up there? Yeah. Okay, let's put them in a bag. I like that idea better than Mama's closet because will probably remember it. Also, here, come on. Whoa, I left my cash. No, I'm pretty sure that dropped out of my pocket. If you ever find any cash money, it fell out of my pocket. Look at this, putting little Waylon's stuff up here. So, Austin, remember to pick it up next time you're here. How many days till September 5th? It's 11 days until then. The light is at the end of the tunnel for our rebuild. Painters finish up next week. Couple of days. Electrical inspection on Monday, certificate of occupancy on Tuesday. Hopefully that goes well. Floor guy can come back Thursday or Friday. The cleaners that following Monday through Wednesday. That means Thursday we're moving in. Bye-bye, Big Daddy. Mom up sitting with Grandma. Grandma's update for her ALS is she's gotten to the point where she's basically going from the bed to the couch and she's not going anywhere. She hadn't been to church in a long time. Big Daddy still likes to go, and at this point somebody needs to be sitting with Grandma if it's gonna be an extended period of time, and so beautiful one's up there. Just want to go. We got a pregnancy test, vanilla. We're going to— is that He-Man flirting with her though? No. We want to landscape around our house to get it ready to be moved in. Can I leave the porch like this? It feels good to get the foundational work behind us. Let's get to some projects. Actually, I still have some little animal chores to do. These kids, they're Jonesing to work. They work on their own thing. We are officially in a new stage. When that's gonna set into my heart, I don't know, because I imagined us doing this all together. We want to clean up as much as we can. The cleaning ladies are gonna be 2 to 3 days. They come in after construction. Let's make it 2 days by doing as much of this stuff as we can. After you've gone through, look, pick up any obvious trash, okay? So this cloth may not be obvious trash. So maybe just set it to the side, okay? But then get any obvious trash like this. Lily, you listening? And like that. Let me get you a big construction bag and you're gonna fill it up, okay?
Okay. Why are you doing it so speed?
Hopefully we're gonna use them. That's probably the keys to that door. Hey, Lily.
Yeah?
3 jobs. Going around and picking up obvious trash. Stickers off the windows. And then shop vacuum me the floors.
Shop vacuum?
Shop vacuum me.
Papa, you can cook 10 pizzas in here at once. Really?
Yeah.
Not in this one, but in the other one.
Oh yeah, because we got 2 ovens right here, 3 racks on top, 3 racks on the bottom. That's 6. Plus, this is a homestead dream house, y'all. Plus, 2 more ovens over here. Whoa, they got the doors on! Yeah, all of them, and the handles. Heck yes! Try it. 11 days, y'all. Hey, that's a good idea, getting all the stickers off inside the oven too. Here, Lily, take these. All that trash you're pulling off goes in this. All right, come on, get in. Come on, let's go. You and I, we need to do the small animal chores. Actually, we need to get Jonah set up on doing the outside. Jonah! There he is. Hey, I honestly thought in my heart, we're all gonna work together doing the small animal chores, we're all gonna do the landscaping out here and the picking up outside, and then when it's hot, we'll all go inside. And then honestly, Josiah said, I'm gonna go clear in the woods. And so I said, okay, we can lose one. And then Jonah was like, I'm gonna do the landscaping. And then you know what happened next, Jonah? Come here. Where are you going?
Lily said she had to go do something.
Lily said she's old enough to work on her own too. Did you want to clean the house? Let's get some before shots, Jonah. I'm gonna get you started, then I'm gonna do small animals, and then I'm gonna help you. So we need to clear all this. Lights work in your room?
No, no, these.
Yeah, yeah, Mom and I figured it out.
You just have to keep flipping the switch.
Yeah, until they figured each other out. They're smart. Now our lights are all in sync. 11 days, guys. 11 days.
Why don't you tell the floor guy to hurry up?
That's as fast as he can come.
When?
Next Thursday or Friday. We still have inspections though to get this week. That could take a minute.
This Thursday?
No, sorry. Yes, this Thursday. It's Sunday. For shots of the landscaping, I should do some in here because Lily's going to make some progress.
I'm gonna rip out all the plants around her greenhouse and then mow it and string trim it.
Those are raspberries, I think, still in pot.
That's an awful place for raspberries.
Alright. Alright.
I don't know what they did there.
Alright, let's get drone up the mountain to the tractor. You're gonna go forward?
No, I need to go back.
Alright, too bad Sally doesn't have a zero-turn. The dad? Yeah, are you serious? This stupid, uh, you left the radio on.
Do you want to grab me the thingies?
Now let's go see this new trip. We've never ridden on this trail ever. As far as I know, nobody has been and driven a vehicle on this section of our property. So Papaw, if it's like you said and you're piping the vlogs from heaven up to heaven, we'll enjoy this. Come on, come on, get in. See, Josiah's been working on another trail that connects to this. Really, this is going to be access, hiking, just mountain biking, horse riding. It's a way to enjoy the entirety of our property. I know where he's going here, and there's a ditch. He kind of needs to come through here, and we'll do it. We'll put a culvert in. You gonna come straight through here? Yeah. All right, probably the hardest part of the section— down and up. But we'll get a culvert over time. It's a bonus trail. That's something he wanted to do. Hey, I'm glad you're doing that, but it's time to leave. Now this is a trail that is now completed and actually a loop, and we can loop all the way back home. Josiah's trail that he's building right now will be an alternative to this steep section. How much more mild they're his way. All right, G, goggles on the head. We're ready to do the chores. Problem number one, shut off valve. It's not working and the water's overflowing. That means our well pump is just running and running and running. Undo. Guys, you guys tired? Keep your head up. Let's reenact. Just straighten out this hose. Somehow the valve on the auto water fill just went and did what it's supposed to do. Okay, help Jonah finish up. Johnny, you didn't do those sunflowers. Let's do them. Look at this guy, he's struggling.
Look at that, they're in there.
Hey, shake it off in there. Let's tackle this now. I don't know if I was recording, but we were able to shimmy that 500-pound stove. Yeah, Jonah got it. We put it on this pallet and then we can just move it around on this pallet. All right, Jonah got the stove away. Battery died. I don't know how much you saw. Are we done done? No, but we've done something. Let's do some afters. Let's go check Lily's job. Mostly Lily has vacuumed and picked up the floors, so that's not gonna show some good before. I was hoping maybe she might tackle this, but she doesn't know what to do with a lot of that stuff. Before and after shots aren't gonna be that dramatic. So she did get the stickers off the windows. She did vacuum up in here. She did a lot of work. It's just not— it's just not a dramatic effect on the cameras. Basically what's happened Because my children are very capable now and we divided and conquered, we basically got a day's work done that I would have done, that this would have been in half a day. So I can rejuvenate, rest for the week ahead, and the kids can play on this hot summer day. You're gonna be the guinea pig? Oh boy, oh boy, we can't see it, so bright. All right, Beauty's back. We are— the scale that we, we weigh, the hanging scale we have for the turkeys, said they were 7.5 pounds. So we want a 20-pound turkey live to give us 15 pounds in the freezer. Annie had the idea to weigh myself and then go pick one up and then hold it while we weigh again with all clothes on after lunch. Okay, 193.6. So add to that, it's like a fine one right there. Probably average. All right, so we have some time. I just don't want him to get too big to where we can't put them in the bag. Go show Mom these trails Josiah built, and we're gonna see the one Josiah made connection on. Okay, wow, it's kind of hard to film in the woods, it's kind of spotty, but Josiah made it. He made a reasonable road right through that crazy crevice. What do you think of your son's clearing job? It's amazing. They're doing so good. The nice thing about the road is that we can then get off the road. Yeah. And walk around. Yep. This evening, well, our cows have been getting out and together— well, more like sometimes the cats have been getting to the cows so bad that we're actually out of milk. I cannot remember the last time we were out of milk. That just— the roads just don't run out of milk. Taking it into my own hands. I turned it off, but I just always want to make sure before I touch this metal clip. Securing any clips, checking to make sure they have water, making sure it's connected to it. Miss Harriet. I think I got it buttoned up. I don't know for sure. We just broke our last $120 Energizer— sorry, Energizer tester. I like to have nice tools, but I've also learned from things like that they get lost easy, kids. Got some $25 cheap ones on Amazon for for the price of one, you know.
So this setup, what the heck?
Well, maybe that's the problem. Uh, we're gonna give it a more powerful energizer. What do we have, a Speedrite 3000 on it? That means 3 joules. We have a Premier 1 Prima Shock 8, which is 8 joules, more than double the power. We use this on the sea monsters, but they're gone now.
12.2 volts.
How come I don't see it going?
Kilovolts. It's just not hooked up. Go hook it up.
No, it's hooked up. Oh, so, so that's good.
It's hit daytime.
It's hitting at 5.
I love this, it tells you finally what the heck your fence is hitting at.
That's right, that's the first Energizer will tell us that. It's sitting at 6K, which is excellent. Yeah, they ain't gonna sneak over tonight.
Can we fill this with hay this year? The shed for Lily?
Yeah. Oh, you know what? No, we hay bombed. Blaze can hay bomb with people.
Where are we hay mobbing this year?
Wherever we want. There's a spot there because we did some grading, you know. I feel like new acreage.
I've never been—
oh, we'll have to hay bomb in the 2 acres because you're gonna grade over there. Yeah, that's hay bombing there all winter long.
No, I didn't like hay bombing until I saw what that passionale looks like, that one spot that we did.
Well, have you seen below the pond our hay bomb job there?
That wasn't— hey, why is this excellent?
Didn't, didn't that do good? That's that hay bomb right there, the one that Joel said we did it perfectly. These watermelons did not work in Blaze's paddock. Oh, that one's kind of okay. Oh, there's another one right there.
That big one?
Yeah, big one. Thanks for joining us on our homestead adventures today. We'll see you guys tomorrow. Happy day!
