The video follows a family’s day trip to Glacier National Park, beginning with a spontaneous decision to rent small motorboats after the larger guided tour is sold out. The parents, identified as A (likely the narrator) and B, guide their children—Lily, Jonah, Josie, Gideon, and others—through their first experiences steering a boat, learning the controls, and confronting initial fear. The narrative captures playful banter, teaching moments, and the children’s growing confidence, especially Lily’s transition from scared to enjoying the ride. After the boat adventure, the family visits Pebbled Beach, marveling at its colorful, camera‑famous rocks, and reflects on the scenic beauty. The vlog concludes with a drive along the Going‑to‑the‑Sun Road, where the narrator compares the open, cozy feeling of the western landscape to other regions, highlighting personal reflections on travel and family bonding. Throughout, the tone remains informal, enthusiastic, and family‑centric, emphasizing shared experiences, parental encouragement, and the joy of exploring nature together.
Chapters
We are alone on a boat in Glacier National Park. You ready? Today, Glacier National Park. You've been there. I've never been there. I honestly don't know what I'm getting into. Do you know what we're getting into? Do you have an idea of what in the world we're gonna do?
Well, there's a lake that's really beautiful. There's like— they have rocks that are different colors, and then there's a road that we might take called Going-to-the-Sun Road, and then I don't know, we're gonna go to the thingamajig, the visitor center, and they're gonna tell us what is good to do with kids.
Okay, we got a plan. Lake McDonald for lunch.
And maybe, maybe a boat ride. We'll see.
And then a scenic drive.
And then we'll drive up.
From there all around.
All right, does anybody need to go to the bathroom?
Off we go.
I think they just take us somewhere.
We're gonna check out the boat ride, see if they've got any tickets left, take the boat out on this lake. We got to the lodge and we came down to ride the boat, but the boat was sold out. Now, the boat with the professionals, big, they know what they're doing, it was sold out and it wasn't available again until 5:30. So We— well, I should say she, which was an absolute shock to me— wanted to rent the little boats, which is weird because usually she's the one that's apprehensive and I'm the one that's usually bold. Well, it switched that time.
Twist throttle just like your motorcycle, okay? Twist that, it'll go faster. This is your tiller. You push the tiller to the left, it'll go to the right. Pull it to the right, the boat will go to the left.
So Dad, what do you think?
You ready?
I think so. I drove a boat for the first time in my life.
I like the boat.
It's weird because the steering is backwards.
Ah, you having some problems there, mister? Let off, let off.
We don't want to go too fast.
And then you move this to turn it. See how that turns?
That way, Papa.
Which way you want to go, Mom?
I don't care, this is good. Are you having fun?
Yes.
Lily scared. Lily, you feeling okay? Look at how beautiful it is.
Oh, why we don't do island?
No, we're not going to an island. We're just gonna putt-putt around.
I felt scared in a little tiny boat.
Oh, you were scared at first? Well, what got you over that fear?
Um, I don't know.
Okay. I think it was Mama. Just pulling you in.
I just, I don't want to push my children, but at the same time I want them to experience life. And so I told her that we would go out and if she was really scared still And she said, I want to go back in, that we would bring her back in. And she never got afraid. Actually, about 10 feet after we were in the water, she's like, I'm scared, I want to go back.
Big rock!
That is a big rock.
And I said, okay, we're going to try it just a little bit longer. And she tried it just a little bit longer, and before the end, she was able to move around in the boat and just fine. You're funny.
Good balance, Papa.
I'd make Mom sick. All right, pull that trigger just now.
My mom is already sick, don't worry.
Are you having fun, Lily?
Lily, I am so impressed.
I want to drive.
Uh-uh.
Let Mama drive.
Can I get this out?
Whoa, you're driving?
Yeah.
I'm confused now. You won't drive the bus, but you're going to drive a motorboat.
Yeah, it's little.
In 100 feet of water.
Are we?
Is it 100 feet deep?
I don't know, probably. It's backwards, I told you.
Whoa!
Do it the other way. Let's do donuts.
No.
Let's not do donuts. I guess I'm just a water baby.
I love it. So I turn this way?
No.
No.
Yeah.
Now I want to go straight.
Okay, now it's easy putzing around out here, but now I gotta go into a dock area. There's waves, there's wind, there's chitlers, there's gonna be people watching.
You think he's gonna do it, Josie? Think you can do it, Jonah?
Yeah.
Can you do it, Gideon?
Yeah. Can you do it, Lily?
Really?
Let's see how she stops.
I believe in him.
I believe in him.
He can do it.
If he can do a bus, he can do a boat. We thought we had a boat ride on it.
We did it!
We made it.
I see somebody decided that they like it.
Yeah, she loves it. Well, now you got a boat captain here. Leave her here, we can train her. Save a lot of money.
We did ride the way over there. Yeah?
Yeah.
Okay, just hit the stop button.
Hold it in.
All righty, just wait. Nobody moves wrong way until I get you.
You did it, Papa!
Yes, I did it.
Was it as hard as you thought it was gonna be? Not really.
It's crazy.
What made you want to ride a little tiny boat?
Why not? Like, we're only here once.
Is this the famed Pebbled Beach?
Yeah, this is Okay, when the rocks are wet, they look really pretty on the rocks.
Okay, they're kind of a reddish bluish.
It's famed because of a fancy camera, apparently. That's what the boat guide told me. It's a famous colorful beach. And look, it does look pretty colorful through the water.
Yeah, look at it.
Oh, there. It's a pool.
I vote that boat ride is the highlight of the day, but we still got one thing left, and that's a drive. Yes, the journey is the destination. Here we go. I gotta say something about this. When a lot of people from out west come east to North Carolina, there's a lot of woods like this, and they describe a feeling of claustrophobic. Well, I think I'm the opposite. In Wyoming and Colorado and lower Montana, I sort of felt a sense of exposure, and this is making me feel a little bit better, a little more cozy. And you, you laugh because you have no idea. You could get— you, you don't feel none of those things, do you?
No, I don't.
That's our traveler. She could live just about anywhere.
I could.
Made it to We made it to the top. Logan's Pass. One more thing to do. That wraps up Glacier National Park. If you guys like these national park videos, I'm gonna leave a link to them right there and down there.
