Aunt Flossie BROKE my Nose

The video is a day‑in‑the‑life vlog of Victor (Speaker A) and his family on their farm. They coordinate a crane and truss installation to raise the deck and vault the ceilings, while juggling daily chores like milking cows, feeding calves, and maintaining water infrastructure. Amid the construction, Rebecca deals with mastitis, and Victor suffers a broken nose after being kicked by the cow Flossie. He visits urgent care, learns the fracture will need an ENT follow‑up after swelling subsides, and reflects on the inconvenience of farm injuries. The family discusses feeding schedules, calf weaning, and the upcoming Fourth of July celebration. Throughout, they share humor, stress, and resilience while planning future improvements such as a new deck, vaulted living spaces, and a firework display.

She kicked me in the nose! Trusses are flying today. We're gonna have ribs on top of our house. Where'd you get those? Those are some bonus. They were on the porch?
Under the porch.
Oh wow, okay. Those are good. That means the crane is coming. He said 8:30, and they're gonna hoist those up onto the roof. They are bringing our deck up to be level with the first floor here. It won't be a step down anymore. It'll feel more extension of our house. Crane's coming. We got chores to do. I'm gonna leave this on time-lapse. I slept in this morning. It's been real rough with the tooth, with Rebecca's mastitis, with the The baby not sleeping well. It always feels good. It's probably the right thing to do. It always feels so bad. I mean, I should be— I should be in here wrapping things up for milking, not skipping little man animal chores. So maybe I can milk and not quite wrap it up before the crane gets here. Do I hear the crane? It's the crane. You guys think you can milk while I film him Setting up. You know how we know? Because we, we get— we leave Vanilla and Flossie in there. There's a leash in here for Flossie, and then there's a leash in there for the baby.
I've watched Flossie. I have her calf tied up. Flossie, I have her calf tied up, and now I'm gonna try to milk her.
It was inevitable. You can only run a hose across the gravel road for so long before It bursts. That's probably not bad because although we're gonna have power out there eventually, just go on our water hose. Well, you got this one, you got a clear steer clear of that.
I know I was doing— they buried it.
Where did that go?
It goes to the creek right there because there's a drain right here.
No hombre. I think that's hungry. You hungry?
I don't know if she learned to save some for later or what.
Does she eat it all by the end of the day? Okay, tell me there's a yellow jacket's nest in the wall. Hey, that yellow jacket's nest, he's not wanting to back up. Right, that thing, 3 times. And it won't get back in there. He's having to set the crane up, I guess, right there, and he's afraid he's going to get stung. Is he going to brave it? I can't go down there with the baby. Can you play with the baby right here? We've— he sprayed it 3 times. Couldn't we hook onto the bottom and pull these out? Oh my gosh, they're coming out big time right there. Yeah, we need to come out at night and put some hooks in that yellow jacket's nest right there. Crane needs to be right there. I think he would have come back further, but but nervous about the jackals. They hurt. They hurt. Of all the stinging flying insects, they hurt the worst. Are you Jim? Tim. You know Jim? Yep, I do. Okay, good. We'll get you a new rope on here, huh? I know, right? We're excited to see you. Yeah. That crane's got its own motor. You know, I failed. I really should have taken care of that nest before now. That nest almost held up the crane, which is mucho dinero per hour. Hey, it's traffic. It's rush minute here for a second. So you haven't milked yet? Hey, I'm thankful for Josiah doing that. It does make me feel even worse for not getting up. That makes things possible. Big machines like that make so much possible. Flying some trusses, not flies through the air. They've got a long post going up from the floor to there, keep it stable. They're bracing that one so much. Are they gonna have to brace them all like this, or do they tie the other ones into this somehow? Yeah, we're gonna have a huge roof. The height is in the middle. Hey, there we go. Thank you. Will you go in that? I'll go in it. Chest number 2. Wow. Let's see if they brace this one like they did the other one or if they just tie it to that first one. Okay, he's just tying it to the other one. Now it's gonna go fast. Had to bring Henry back. For a mama session. How you doing, babe?
I look terrible. I am okay.
You've kicked the fever?
Yeah, fever's gone.
Yeah, I know, it's okay, Josie. Just, I couldn't quite get it. Okay, Lily, can you make breakfast for your mom? Josiah, bless his heart, for whatever reason couldn't milk Fosse. It is difficult. She did just have a calf, and I don't think he was here, has been involved with that from day to day, so he doesn't know how to do it.
Do you have the recipe for the broth?
Broth or meat stock? Well, meat stock. Shoot, I was I was hoping to start using our bacon. Okay, we got to get it from Grandma's. Can you get that after breakfast? Got her some broth going. Lily, if that goes off in 5 minutes and I'm not here, will you put that in a cup and get it to her? You ready? All right, let's go, let's go. It's very possible the rate that we've been going is what brought on this mastitis or allowed this mastitis to come on. I told Rebecca that I felt guilty. She's like, don't feel guilty. It's been a terrible week. I don't know why, but I don't know, I feel guilty. I know it's taking care of myself and I know it's important. I gotta release that.
Are the ceilings gonna be bolted like that?
I'm pretty sure. Gigantic, isn't it? Yeah, we'll have to ask Mom in a little bit. I think she'll be able to get up and at least— I mean, their trusses are going to be on today. We gotta bring her down here and show her how to film training just out of flossy and these trusses at the same time. That is gonna be so huge. It's like 12 feet tall in the middle. Okay, we're gonna adjust the timeline. Looking for Gideon. Josiah says he's playing Lily's horses in the cabin. It's always risky because he starts wanting to go inside. I'll be right back. Gideon, Gideon, I see you. Let's go, let's go. Really? Is it? Are you hungry, Josiah? You sure? Okay, you just need to get— grab a bit in a bowl and let's go. Oh, she is? Oh yeah, she's gonna get ornery. Did you get the calf tied up? Oh, did you get her fresh alfalfa?
Yes.
Oh, that's it. We gotta take a pan because you probably left her eating it. Oh, always if you leave her, pull it away because now she might not be hungry. Angry. And pants. Where are the pants? Any little change, it could be as little as feeding them, not pants, throws her off. Giving him a hard time, it's no surprise. I got an ornery one here. Hopefully she's still hungry. Here you go, come on. Good. See, she's not hungry. She's been left to eat all her food. Okay, she just kicked me good. She kicked me in the nose. My freaking nose is broken. Is that swelling or is that a bone? If that wasn't a reminder why you're leaving, I don't know what is. I got kicked in the face and all that's going on, I may be going to the hospital to get my nose freaking straightened out. I'll have to herd her away from you. I don't know if Okay, but she'll probably bother you. Hurts, starting to hurt. Well, I'm glad you came and got me, Josiah, because I don't want to happen to you kids. I'm milking Flossie today. The calf can just have it because I may be going to the hospital. Flossie's on her way out. Vanilla is her replacement. She's still got 2 and a half months with us. Calf's got to be 3 months old of nursing to be in good health to be able to live without her mom. I'm tempted to put you just with Nacho and we won't even get you milk. That could have been my teeth. That could have been my jaw that I just had worked on. It could have been my other teeth. I could have just got my teeth busted out. Okay, can you take the chores from here before I go to Mom? Kind of feel like it's maybe crooked right there. It doesn't hurt like crazy. Wouldn't it hurt like crazy if I broke my nose? Hey Lily, can you go with Seth? Sally and pick up the brothers out at the cows. Yep, I'm pretty sure my nose is over here and it should be right there. Don't, uh, panic. I'm okay. What happened? Uh, I think Flossie broke my nose. She kicked me in the face. Oh my gosh. Doesn't it look like this is going this way and it should be over there?
Look at it. Oh shoot, this just keeps getting worse. I'm so sorry.
I feel like I'm gonna vomit. What does it say?
I just feel like I'm gonna vomit because I can't look at you. Um, okay. Um, God, and surgery if it's bad.
Freak.
I know.
Can we just stop milking her?
Yes, yes. I've never not finished a cow. They can't win, but now they have to win. I'm sorry you got mastitis.
Yeah, but I'm okay.
Trusses are here. My teeth, my, my My jaw still hasn't recovered.
Like, who fixes a broken nose? I don't even know.
Bob the Builder, can we fix it? Bob the Builder, yes we can!
If it needs to be repaired, then you have to go to ENT or a plastic surgeon.
Oh, okay, it's not an emergency emergency.
I think what you do is you go in and see what— how bad it is, and then you decide what you're gonna do.
All right, see ya. I'm wondering, is it broken or just swollen? Uh, does look like the ridge is pointing in the wrong direction. I feel like it should hurt a lot worse though, right? Like, it's starting to hurt, but not crazy. Like, my jaw from my teeth surgery a week ago is hurting. Just as bad. I'm gonna go to urgent care. Seems like that's what you're supposed to do to get an x-ray, and then you go to a specialist after that for surgery or— I'm escorting Mr. Google Pants, but don't they set noses? Who does that? I guess we'll find out. I've been here too many times. Josiah's foot, Jonah's hip, my back. Looks like getting in a car accident on the way to there. Oh, I don't think they've seen too many kicked in the face by the milk cow incidents either. All right, well, I just went to the place we normally go to, but they don't do the face. I had to go to the ER or the urgent care. I thought this was an urgent care, but turns out they can't help me either. She was a nurse, she looked at it and she said, yep, it's broke. They can't help me at the urgent care either. They can't help me at either of these places. So, and then the nurse at the, the partier urgent care said, yeah, it's broken, they're gonna need to set it. I mean, she wasn't— she's a nurse working the desk, right? Just so glad this wasn't the kids. It's gonna be some expensive milk. Certainly be a day where I would wonder, why are we doing this? I don't ask that because we can't get raw milk. Milk where we are. We want it, we got to want it. We got to get our nose broken every once in a while. Well, pretty good. I've been milking for 10-ish years, haven't broken anything yet.
One of the nurses, you'll take a seat right here for me.
Get your vitals real quick. Okay, thanks.
What bringing you in today?
Well, broke my nose.
How'd you do that?
A cow kicked me when I was milking. A cow?
When did that happen?
You don't get too many of those, do you? No. They will call you for the x-ray shortly. Okay, thank you. We're not stopping yet. Waiting on the x-ray. But if you look at that tail, it's bad. They called me back to the CAT scan. And now I guess we're Just gonna wait on the doctor.
I got the x-ray back.
Yeah.
There is a fracture to the nose bone. But it's not something that we would reduce in the emergency room.
Okay.
I know there's all those movies where the doc comes in and like clicks it back in place. Typically the body, once the swelling goes down, the nose bones will go back to where they need to go.
Heck yeah.
But sometimes it doesn't happen right away, and sometimes it does need evaluation by an ear, nose, and throat doctor. But they don't even want to see you until the swelling goes down in a week's time.
Okay. Well, that's kind of unbelievable, isn't it? I gotta walk around with a crooked nose, but it kind of makes sense. You gotta wait till the swelling gets down so they can see it. I'm out. I'm on my way home. What'd they do? Nothing. Uh, they can't do anything. You gotta wait till the swelling goes down. They gave me a referral till It is broken, obviously, but they did give me a referral. I gotta call them and make an appointment in a week. Gotta get the swelling down before they'll do anything. Are you serious? They've got all the trusses up. Oh my gosh, holler chat house has changed so much. Oh my word, it's gigantic. Fiesta is live and well. Well deserved, guys, well deserved.
You didn't bandage or anything your nose?
Mm-mm. That's pretty rough, huh? You're just gonna have to put up with my ruggedly handsome face till then. I broke it good, they said. I am glad it wasn't your nose, Josiah. You had enough sense not to milk her. Oh, and you made pork rinds too. Did they turn out?
Those are pretty good. Mine did. Miss Lisa once broke her nose because she always telling us don't stand in front of the horse because it might go like this, and she was standing in front of it like putting on the bridle or something. And this went up and it hit her nose. So weird when you're at the angle, it looks like your nose is straight on with me.
I know, right? Whoa, hopefully you still love me. You gotta look at this.
Oh, I don't know if I can look at it just because it looks so awful. It looks so—
there you go, but it is an ear, nose, and throat doctor. You know, it's a big mistake. You know, she had been a moment without being milked, she got filled up on that alfalfa alfalfa. She wasn't hungry for it. She'd be done. Oh, why?
Because when Justine went to milk her, she had—
yeah, he had given her all the alfalfa. And then here I come. It had been a big pain to get the stanchion up there. Really, I should have just— I bet you just— you know, it's weird is she didn't cook me right away. Like, normally it's kicking on the onset, not after I've been milking a while. Hindsight's 20/20. I should have just let her have her calf, but you just don't know. What's going on? Everybody get out, Mom's calling the doctor. What time you want to swim? Let's have a goal. What should we say? The, uh, getting the sea monsters out till tomorrow, until our guests come. They might like that.
Yeah, I guess.
Been from Florida and all, they've never handled chicks. They forgot to take the milk in. You think it's bad? I think we might get it. Can we get it cooled down? Has been out here, what, 3 hours? Just had it. Did it smell rotten?
No.
You just want to get it cold fast and it helps preserve it longer. So y'all need to drink that pretty soon. It'll be all right. Looks like Grandma did get them over. Why haven't they eaten this? Hope they're not sick. He looks good. He's pooping. Somebody ate that maple. I don't know if they normally like that. Poplar over here. Yeah, as high as they could.
I think they're just not hungry enough to eat it.
That, or they're sick. I feel like they've eaten so little over there. People are barely eating. They're barely eating, period. I've put in a few feelers out to a couple sheep mentors. Now when Grandma moves them to grass, they start eating it, don't they? When you start running them down there where all that grass is, he's got good condition. Normally they just crush all this. This is a sheep's haven. When she opens up this fence, this grass, they start eating it. Oh yeah, he's eating some right now. Grandma's garden though. Utilizing the tomato trellis. Yay! Claire, the Abundance Plus sheep mentor, told me they've probably had their fill in bramble. They, they're getting mineralized from it and they're done. And because they're going for the grasses, it's telling me they're good on the brambles. That's good, meaning they're healthy, the sheep, but it's bad, meaning I want to get rid of that brambles. Timeout, one second. Claire was able to help me. She can also help you. She can also— had a premium member text me today wondering, are there ferments bad? It's been sitting in these jars a year. I don't know. So I referred them to Anne, an expert in— also an expert in Abundance Plus. Guys, you can text me. I know a lot of the answers, but I don't always. We have a sheep mentor, we have a garden mentor, we have a fermenting mentor. That's at Abundance Plus Premium. It's not open right now. It's not open. There's a waitlist. It's closed most of the year. So I encourage you though, I'll leave a link down in the description to get on that waitlist so that in the future you could get your individual questions answered by experts via text, like within hours, at most 24 hours. Link in the description.
You know how we can't put him down there with his daughters because he'll breed them? Let's bring the daughters up here and take him down there. Switch them out.
Moms aren't pregnant. We don't want them to get pregnant until September. January babies. What about right here? We got a lot of grass here. You want to do it in here and then we might not have to get the trailer, right? You think we can herd them that short of a distance? Yeah, that's some green grass right there, guys, and bramble if they want it. That buys us half a week, a week, and then we'll move them down. All right, are we gonna go around the house that way and bring them back? Do you want to go get the alfalfa or you want to just chase them?
Let's chase them. They're not gonna come out.
You gotta stop them from going this way. Oh, they did it! They went right in. This is good, they're already eating. I look like an MMA fighter.
I can't stand MMA, it's too violent.
Just throw them. Turn this off and Rebecca tells me, aren't there implications like it's going to heal crooked and then they're going to break it?
Uh-huh, that's gonna be rough.
Or so that's not soon. No, 3 weeks. Uh-uh, too late.
You'll have to be halfway healed.
Get me in with somebody else. The referral doctor couldn't see me for 3 weeks, so she done got me another appointment. And they didn't want to do it because they wanted a referral, but she said you can do it.
Well, no, they said—
she got me an appointment this Tuesday.
Uh, well, no, tomorrow's Tuesday.
Next, next one week, which is what they want.
You have to wait 5 days 7 days.
Nice. I don't want to—
we don't need any more complications. Like Jonah's surgery, if he would have been referred last fall, yeah, Charlotte, we wouldn't be having a full coverage.
I know, like, I'm just—
I think what I've learned is just to be really proactive.
How's the water?
What?
How's the water? It's great. Did I update everybody? We got our pond filled up, got our drain fixed, it's working nice. We got our overfill, it's worked nice. In the rain. Was it worth all the hard work to get in this pond?
Yeah, nice.
He's buried a PVC for our hose. It's handy having that thing. I think he's blocked up our drain. Hey, you might have blocked up our drain. I just brined 20 pounds of pork ham, 20 pounds of ham there. We were supposed to have a big Fourth of July party with like 10 families. What?
I want that.
Oh, chocolate?
Yeah.
You want a piece of chocolate? We called the party off even before I broke my nose. Actually, he had a form of something or another in his mouth. It's his little sickness. Is that what caught and caused Rebecca her mastitis? We have our best friends ever from Florida. Oh no, does it hurt? You can't even eat chocolate? He can't even eat chocolate. No, his mouth hurts so bad. So what is it? What's wrong with him that you end up getting?
Okay, so I believe he had hand, foot, and mouth disease, like disease, illness, whatever you call it. And, um, because he's got blisters on the inside of his mouth, he's got a spot on his tongue because I think he had hand, foot, and mouth. So, well, anyway, that gave me mastitis in both of my breasts.
I got the chicken going. Boy, they were tiny this year.
So I'm going outside for the first time today, out the front door to look at the house.
Wow.
I'll be happy when the roof— roofing is on. Now that fireplace has to come down.
What we need to know from you is, are we gonna vault these ceilings all the way to the top?
Yes.
To the framing?
I think so.
Like, we could play basketball in here. What was the plan?
We were gonna vault them, at least in the living spaces.
Oh, okay. Bedrooms, it won't be as vaulted. In the bedrooms, we can just go across. You probably should, so then it's not—
it's a little more cozy.
Dang, they're fast! Aren't they fast? They already put up this wall. No wonder that's just easier to take down the old wall.
I'm so nervous. I'm so nervous that we've messed it up on paper. Oh, this is the bathroom. So where does the bathroom wall start? And then where's our nightstand gonna be?
I see. Look, your sunroom floor is the level of the house floor. So is that here gonna be low? No, it's gonna be tile, and then this will be Lucas' deck. Oh, we're gonna have a deck too that goes on out. Man, this is gonna be cool. 3, 4 days, you're all right, and you're gonna be just fine. What's the plan so this does— this doesn't backfire like last time?
We'll stick it in there, and that's a little notch for the stick, then we'll stick the plug in. So then the stick can still go. Okay, last time we pointed it up and then it slid out the back.
Let's see this firecracker. This is a tease of what's to come in the next video. Fourth of July coming up, we got fireworks.
You gonna shoot it this time?
Okay, and then there's a hole through this so the stick can fit through. Yeah, everybody's gonna back up when you—
what is that gonna do it this time?
He says no.
This is terrifying. I have to test this.
No.
Well, I have to test it. I can't just go to sleep.
All right then. I'm so nervous. Let Henry see this. Henry, you ready? There it is. Oh, it worked! We're all right. Nobody's hurt.
Yes, that's why we built the shield over it.
All right, Fourth of July, big show. Next one.
